HTC released a boot loader unlocker tool.
http://htcdev.com/bootloader/
Have any one tried this?
Edit:
Link to Arstechnica article: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/htc-unlocks-all-its-verizon-and-att-bootloaders/
Its aparently for ATT and Verizon phones: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2011/12/htc-has-released-a-tool.ars
Edit 2: It seems it does not work on our phones...: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20812409#post20812409

This is a long time, but not working with any version of wildfire s hboots.

Did you try it? People are reporting it to work for phones that are not listed in the website.

to be very clear.....the wildfire s doesn't support "fastboot oem" commands.....which are needed for the official method....so IT WON'T WORK

Figured that out reading the WFS Campaign thread as well as other forums... Thanks.
It's just this phone is unusable with all the garbage apps inside. I need to clean it. Otherwise I'll have to spend more money on another phone for my wife...

If it doesn't support fastboot, why it's then part of RUU update pack together with adb ?

The phone supports fastboot.
But the phone does not understand the oem command get_identifier_token for an unique key of the phone. And the bootloader hasn't got one or two lines at the start with the value of unlocked or locked like in the sensation xe.
So htc must give an update for hboot first, but they said, that they don't do it.

Desire (Bravo) - HTC Shipped Android 2.3 - Let's unlock the bootloader

Hi,
a few days ago, HTC released a developer version of Android 2.3 for the Desire on
http://developer.htc.com (they changed the developer web site now and maybe it isn't available any longer).
Fact is: Everyone who installed this ROM is currently unable to root it or downgrade it again because HTC added a new locked bootloader.
This thread is ment to work together to find ideas how to unlock the bootloader again.
It's known that HTC announces the official bootloader unlocking for all devices already. But nobody knows for sure, how long this will take and I bet here are a lot of people who don't want to just do nothing and wait for HTC to release it.
So, let's begin. Maybe there are also some advanced members who can support us.
At first the questions:
- How is the bootloader lock implemented (does it just have write protection or is there encryption involved)?
- How were bootloaders unlocked in the past?
And last: Even if we don't get far, it's worth a try! And we will gain important experiences. I personally love this.
I like the idea. How about xtc clip? Would it work with this boot? Or maybe we can write a petition to htc or do the while fb thing when they changed their mind and get us gungerbread. U would not mind even paying to get it unlocked.
Im sure if all of us donated to alpharev or unrevoked and get them to start working on it asap its possible?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Why not wait for either alpharev or unrevoked or both of them to release something. They do support out device so I don't see why they wouldn't try to find a way to unlock the new hboot.
I spoke to htc support and by looks of things our device is not on their list for unloocking bootloader, so we might not be lucky.
I guess wait for alpharev or unrevoked to come up with something.
So no one knows if xtc clip would work

I find it both amusing and frustrating that they have included a new hboot and yet now say it isn't even on their list of supported 'unlockable bootloaders' from their new htcdev site???

Same thought.
Getting htc to unlock it would be much better than hacks imo.

Can you give source, please?
Check with customer service / book it in , depending who does it in your country/state.

This page has an upcoming link to download a boot loader unlocker from hTC.
I would find it rather surprising if they have made an exception in this program for just the Desire. Why would they?
Not from that page but go to your htc repair centre and they will downgrade. Im waiting on confirmation from the repair centre

Maybe htc thought like this: "do you people want so much the gingerbread update? Ok you will get the update but, as you wish so much it, you can't go back to froyo anymore! F** you and ur gingerbread update and go buy some new htc devices"
Regarding the bootloader there is a team that create super locked bootloaders, a team that is creating the web tool to unlock it, and the htc head boss that say "htc sensation? ok super blocked bootloaders and possibility to unlock it via web, htc desire? hm ok only super locked bootloaders, we don't need spend to much resources for an older device, .."
Just kidding..But htc should really change its politic!

I can't really see how letting the desire get unlocked by the tool is “spending resources”, rather is it spending resources to omit a phone model, from what I understand.
Even more strange would be if htc pays good money to the service centers (here in Sweden at least this is third party, and not htc firms) to unlock boot loaders if they could have a web tool do it!

Well, every device is little different, have a different bootloader, different versions...That mean more people have to work to create, test, document it..In addition they will have a lot of people that will have problems doing it, so much work for the customer service again only for an older device (from their point of view)..Of course not only htc is like this, every producer want you to buy their new device..

I am quite convinced that the boot loader lock is pretty much the same for all devices and they just have to include (or exclude) the spec for all models.
They do not have to hack it, after all, they have written the source code themselves!
ok
so, can anyone confirm that unrevoked or any other group is working on it?

About Bootloader, yes they leave us because sported devices are only Sensation and Evo 3D not Marvel or another device..
It's gonna take at least 2012 to get our update.

perhaps if revolutionary becomes an opensource project more people could find a solution for the htc marvel...
It's not that htc is going to do anything against revolutionary's code, they do just the same, only not as good...
Anyone tried questioning HTC Support on this?
HTC support told me it may be supported. If that is of any help

Has anyone tried unlocking their wildfire s using the HTC bootloader unlock for sensation or evo3d?

Wildfire S must be upgraded via OTA to understand "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" command.
Otherwise returns an error when you try to do this

Anyone from Poland willing to unlock? PM me.
Come on HTC, unlock the bootloader for our Marvels, too!
We should set up a facebook page for the Wildfire S bootloader unlock if not already exists.

You can't revert to S-on actually. It's a permanent unlock. Once it's S-off it is done forever.

Sign this petition to make a bootloader S-off

Please sign this petition https://www.petitionbuzz.com/petitions/htcbootloader
This petitiion is to ask HTC to make a bootloader unlock tool for the Wildfire S so users can do what they want with the device they bought including using modified boot, recovery and system images. I feel that HTC should not lock there bootloaders at all because once a customer has bought the phone it is no longer HTC's property it belongs to the customer after buying the handset. So please HTC allow use to unlock are bootloaders so we can modifiy are phones the way we want them to be.
This is for the moment only way to unlock the Htc wildfire s .
Thanks

[LOOKING FOR TESTER] Unlock Bootloader without Unlock Token

Hello guys.
When you use htcdev.com to unlock your bootloader, you will have to provide a device identifier to HTC. Then you get an unlock code.
This way HTC knows you have unlocked, or at least tried to unlock your phone.
What I am looking for is someone with a completely unmodified HTC Wildfire S (factory state). So it must be S-ON and never have been unlocked before. Best would be a brand new Wildfire S.
What do I want to test?
Dump the /radio and the /misc partition before and after several events
---- on an unmodified WFS
---- on an umodified WFS having installed the HTCDEV RUU
Then we will try to unlock the phone without getting the unlock token from HTCDEV.
If that works we will again dump some partitions to see what has changed.
As you may probably be new to this with an unlocked phone I will guide you to all the steps needed. There is nothing to worry about your phone. If it does not work we will make your phone as it was before.
I look forward to getting help in this matter. If it works out this will make the unlocking process easier and will keep your warranty.
Please take you about an hour time to step it all through.
Thanks
O_O
Sounds like a plan... Got mine A-off months ago, before HTC dev bl unlock existed.

at first, you will need the following things:
- Stock RUU
- Stock Recovery Image
- relocked HBoot
Foolproof way is relock bootloader and flash ruu that matches your CID. Haven't read back too far in this thread, feeling lazy, make sure your HBoot version is below 1.36 as I'm assuming you'll be flashing ICS. I don't believe there are any JB ruu's available to date.
