[BATTERY REVIEW] ECell Gold 2430 mAh Lithium Polymer Battery - HTC Wildfire S

Well I arrived home from some boxing day shopping today to a package in the mail from ECell in England.
Sound like a similar tale from two weeks ago? Yup!
It's another battery review and test.
Second week results of my previous test of the Cameron Sino Technology 2200 mAh Lithium Ion "FAT" Battery are now posted in the review thread so check those out as well.
so back to my initial thoughts.
The battery came encased in a simple thin plastic deliver bag with no protection around the battery. Sorry ECell but taking the slow boat from China (Literally) I would expect a little more protection. So...5 points off for shipping style.
What was fairly impressive was the time to ship from England to Canada less the days the post was closed for weekends and holidays totalled 7 business days. So...5 points back for delivery as promised.
The battery is currently doing it's initial charge on the universal charger before I pop it in, clear my stats and start testing.
The first thing I can say about it is...Wow...Shiny. I like shiny things.
Aesthetics aside, it fits properly, nice and snug under the original rear housing. I will have to get used to a "thin" phone again at least for a while...
Ok. Prediction time...
I don't see this battery making 2430 mAh but who knows. Li-Pol is different stuff and hopefully it's what slim dreams are made of.
For $17.00 US, including shipping, I won't complain if it hits 1700-1800 mAh but here's hoping.
Attached are some photos of the HTC Stock, The Cameron Sino Technology and the ECell batteries side by each and parallel for your enjoyment and viewing pleasure. Notice the dimensional similarities between the stock and the ECell.
I don't have my scales of power and wisdom handy so I was unable to weigh the batteries but it feels slightly lighter to the touch but not by a considerable amount.
Right now it is at 3.85 volts and rising and very cool to the touch.
Once it's done it's initial charge I am going to run it dry under normal use a few times to calibrate the battery and post the results for average longevity, coolness to the touch during use, charging, and charge while using.
I will also post the calibrated mAh reading as well as any temperature fluctuations, etc.
Stay tuned.

Usage and test results...
2011-12-31:
-Battery took 4 hours to charge up to 4.218 volts
-Estimated full from empty AC charge is 4.5 hours
-No heat generation to speak of during charging or use so far.
2012-01-02:
-Battery has been charged and fully discharged 3 times now. Reset all stats and running an Antutu Battery Test on it that I will also run on the stock and CS 2200 mAh to have some comparisons that mean something.
Testing setup is as follows:
-Same phone with CM7.2 overclocked to 806 mhz to speed up the testing process for all three batteries
-Batteries all conditioned and then charged for 8 hours prior to testing
-No changing of configured apps, services, etc on phone during testing
-batterystats.bin and Battery Monitor Pro history is wiped between batteries
-Wifi and data turned off so the phone does essentially nothing
-Antutu stops phone from locking, dimming, downclocking etc. so it's basically running all out for the entire duration
-No one seems to know what the scores are or how they relate to anyone else but I figure they will relate to each other.
-Once test is complete run Antutu again to run the battery down to 1% for shutdown and get final burn time results from Battery Monitor Pro

Final Results For ECell Gold, HTC Stock, and Cameron Sino:
-3 Hours and 44 Minutes For HTC Stock Battery
-4 Hours and 19 Minutes For ECell Gold Battery
-7 Hours and 35 Minutes For Cameron Sino Battery
-The ECell Gold, at 13.34% more capacity than the HTC Stock battery, comes in at far less than it's advertised 2430 mAh.
-The Cameron Sino, at 50.52% more capacity than the HTC Stock battery, comes in at more than it's advertised capacity of 2200 mAh
The Conclusion:
You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear and you can't cheat physics.
Applying the same battery technology you can really only expect marginal performance gains in the same form factor as is shown with the underachievement of the ECell Gold compared to it's advertised capacity.
There were no surprises here.
Double the form factor brought double the capacity. If you're cool with a "Fat Phone", the Cameron Sino Technology 2200 mAh battery lives up to it's expectations and puts some reality back into things. You get a very high capacity battery at a very reasonable $22.00 US
In it's own right the ECell Gold 2430 mAh is a great idea for a cheap and higher capacity replacement battery and that's really the positive in that storyline.
The price is right for a slim replacement battery but they need to stop the gimmickry and advertise it for what it is.
False hope is NOT better than no hope.

If your results are anything like mine, you're going to be extremely disappointed.

If it's the case I've got a spare battery and I can review it poorly for not meeting it's claimed rating.
Saves a lot of people time and money on a product.
If it does work well. Directs people to a good product.
Time will tell.

There's my current widget log file for my 2430mah Gold battery.
I can't get the capacity calculator to run. But those times were taken every 10 seconds from 1% to 100% and back down to 1% if you want to run my data.
It should be noted that the phone was in standby mode minus about 20 texts...

That's what I call public service!
A user that really cares about directing others towards a smart buy.
Respect to d33ps1x for taking this matter so seriously.
I'm curious about your results after the first 3-4 charge/discharge cycles.
I always ignore the first cycle, no matter what battery I use.
Batteries are in stock too long before reaching our hands and their cells need to be "awaken" or electrically stimulated properly.
This will only happen after some serious charges and discharges.
I personally recommend that the first charge is never less than 8 hours long (sometimes I extend it to 12 hours).
By my experiences it does make a difference, even if the battery status led tells you the battery is already full after 3 or 4 hours charging.
Thanks for the public service and I wish you good luck with your experiences.
Never underestimate the first 3-4 charge cycle rule that some known battery manufacturers recommend. Mugen Power for example almost says that your battery will only be ready for use after the 4th or 5th complete charge and discharge...

First burn test results for ECell Gold 2430 mAh battery are here!
See this post for test results...
Now burn testing stock battery for comparision.
Decided to formalize the testing a bit more as terms like "under moderate useage", etc, are pretty well useless. Spent the night reading other reviews of this battery for other phones and no one had even a semi formal test in place. Just a lot of guestimates and subjective analysis.
I am going to compare this ECell Gold battery to an HTC Stock 1230 mAh and a Cameron Sino Technologies 2200 mAh doublesize "fat phone" and provide comparison based results from a common setup in a fairly static environment.
Enjoy the first set of results!

ECell On Ebay.
If you look at it as a $20.00 replacement battery it's a deal compared to a stock cell at $45.00 but definitely far removed from it's claimed capacity.

The final results are in...
And it comes as little surprise.
The three way head to head comparison of the HTC Stock 1230 mAh, the ECell Gold 2430 mAh, and the Cameron Sino Technology 2200 mAh batteries is finally over after a lot of conditioning battery cells and a final long night and day of burn testing.

As an update. After cycling it for a while now with full to empty to full cycles it is averaging out at 1503 mAh measured which is as good as a muygen. (sp) at $50.00
With my usage pattern, which is moderate to high, I am getting an average of 1 day 4 hours out of it per use.
It's holding it max millivolts just fine as well.
The discharge cycle is very predictable with no sudden drops throughout the cycle. As you can see when I first use it after a charge cycle there is a steeper drop as I am checking forums, sms, calling, etc.

This sounds promising but I want to make sure...
Unlike the big battery which needs a special back for the phone and only fits the smaller Wildfire S not the larger one like my Virgin Mobile (CDMA) this is just a regular sized battery so I should be able to use it, correct?

It's a direct replacement for the HTC Part #35H00154-07M

Same thing happen to me, the battery for a gsm will fit a cdma and vice versa, but the backdoor will only work with gsm, I bought a Cameron Sino for my virgin mobile and wad disapointed that it didn't work, battery fits but not the case, the cdma has a weird desing, sort of a lip, making a extended cover for cdma phone probaly won't happen because of the way its designed

Is this the ecell gold? The same one that logged 652? I read the whole review but am I missing something? Why the high jump in capacity? Is it just more cycles, giving it a better capacity, or am I missing something else obvious. If it does 1503 that's a big increase over the stock battery ya?
BTW, thanks for taking the time to share all the info
Ps, are the test scores not in mAh? Maybe that's what I'm missing. I'll go read again

Yeah, sorry, test scores obviously arnt mAh, my bad. Still, at 1500mAh, not too bad, though hardly realistic marketing

[Q] Where to buy BETTER & GOOD replacement BATTERY for HTC Desire?

Hello Androians,
I'm from the Philippines, and want to know more about better and good replacement battery for the desire. I'm surfing and looking into Ebays. but can't decide which one and have doubts if this would fit for Desire. I've heard a lot from a MUGEN or SEIDIO batteries, but don't know which one is with greater and better battery life.
Hope you can help me decide,or find new brands of replacement batteries that provides good and compatible battery for HTC Desire.
Thanks
Regards,
Chad
google for mobilefun htc battery ba s410...
(sorry but I'm not allowed to post direct links 'cause I'm a new user...)
I saw it from another post somewhere; It is the only htc original battery I found.
I bought it last friday but not yet received, so I can't tell you how it is.
Before you dive in for a 3rd party batt ...
I read an article sometime ago comparing batteries. forgive me for not being able to remember the source (or sponsors for that matter) for the article, but HTC original batt is supposed to be of high qualities having effective charge capacity of 90% or so. 3rd party may claim higher capacity but their effective capacity is can be about 80% or lower.
This chart might be useful

I have also read this. Unless the battery shows a significant increase in capacity (one of those 2500-3500mah ones which require a different back panel) then the likelihood is that you will have worse battery life compared to your original HTC battery.
this is for General subForum, sorry m8 nothing with development
I bought the Mugen 3200 battery,it is bigger and comes with a new back panel but now instead of charging by noon I spent the whole day trying to get the battery to drain ,best i got was 40% after more than 20 hours of usage.

Im also interested where you've bought that batt.. Does it make the phone a bit bulkier? Since you said that it came with a new back-cover.. i suppose it adds to the back of the phone which is fugly.. for me at least.. Anyone tried any of the "normal" batteries and can provide feedback? Or anyone knows from where can i buy an original one? Im fine with that as long as the price doesnt go up from 25e...
Sorry for the late reply , I got it from mugs website for 79 dollars , it does make the phone a bit bigger with a lump on the back ,( this also makes most if not all cases useless ) but it is not as bad as I thought it would be from the pics and the performance.is much better than I.expected .it is now 9 : 22 pm and I have 66 % of my battery remaining I used to get this percentage by noon .

yeah mugen power batterys are the best, i also have the big one with the diffrent battery cover, sometimes i can go 3 days without charging you can buy them here http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/
Seidio battery works fine for me. I bought 2 other batteries from e-bay for less that usd10 a pop but they dont fit. They are slightly bigger. If i force it in, it can fit but not sure what will happen in the long run.

Do yourself a favor guys....

Stop the debacle and concern on whether or not the 1700mah, 1600mah 1500mah blah blah blah batteries are better than stock.. I have a LOT of experience with Li-Po and Li-Ion batteries (cell phones use Li-Ion technology) and I can tell you WITHOUT a doubt that all these knock off companies are full of SH^* trying to say there batteries are of a higher capacity than the stock battery while staying the same size. Although it is possible to cram more mah into the same size package with li-ion batteries it is VERY unlikely to be able to do so with the current technology out right now. Most of these companies rate their mah on a different scale and actually will pull the battery to a lower voltage to justify their claims when it dosent matter because cell phones have a safety feature that has to shut the phone down at the specified voltage to prevent fires. Yes fires, Li-Ion has a fire risk if it is depleted all the way, not the same risk as a Li-Po battery but a risk just the same. HTC has a separate department that deals specifically with batteries and I can assure you they know and use the most up-to-date batteries they can get their hands on for these devices. There is nothing for them to gain by using inferior batteries in our phone. Those that have purchased the seidio 1600 extended battery and claim to have a better life on the phone are under a placebo effect. If you are just purchasing this "Extended" battery as a spare than buy all means go right ahead but dont expect a miraculous two hours extra from it because it is of lesser quality than the stock battery. I have hundreds of dollars in battery testing and logging equipment and If you guys dont believe me i will run some tests on the stock vs. whichever battery you'd like me too and post the data for all to see, but Ive been down this road before with htc phones and have always come up with the same conclusion......The aftermarket "Extended" batteries actually have less mah's than their stock counterparts.
Of course Im not referring to the htc extended battery in this post, its obviously pushing more mah's with its monstrous size, lol.
....just sayin..
Oh' and to elaborate because Ive also read some concerns over the length of time for charging the thunderbolt (which does seem lengthy I will admit).
Since our phone has such a hard time time keeping up with a normal days use I believe what htc has done is given the battery a longer "saturation charge" for the battery to completely charge before it completes the charge cycle.
Li-ion batteries are charged on a 3 cycle charge system and stage two is what is considered the saturation cycle where the battery may sit at a relatively static voltage for a period of time to saturate the cells with current to top off the charge, some cell phones skimp on this step to give the phone a fast charge time which is termed "charge-and-run" and people assume the device has been adequately charged when it has not. For an adequate "FULL" charge without harming the battery or affecting battery life, typically li-ion batteries take approx. 3-4 hours.
So the 3 batteries I got for 12$ on ebay ARE paperweights?

I wouldnt go that far, I doubt any of the batteries are "paperweights" yet. Im just making the point that the claims of higher capacity are unfounded and the cheap knock-offs are of lesser quality. Also check where the batteries are made. Good quality Li-ion cells come from Japan.
One thing to note with the cheapies is the temp while charging or under heavy use. Get a temp monitor app and compare between the stock and your aftermarket batteries, they will probably run hotter. Unfortunately I dont have any other batteries to test for you guys other than the stock OEM battery otherwise I would. If I pick any up Ill cycle the stock vs. aftermarket and post the data log between the two.
Also I didnt mean the "fire" comment to worry anyone, Li-ion batteries have protection curcuit that will render the battery useless and unserviceable if the cell reaches a voltage of 2.70v or lower which is where the chemistry of li-ion becomes unstable.
I'll ship your one of the two 1700 when I get it if you wanna test it and post results. Just ask that you ship it back after your done.

ha, I bought the same ones you did.
I didn't expect them to be as good as the 1400 mAh battery that comes with the phone. I just wanted to have a spare battery available in case I'm traveling and watching movies or something (on a plane). Even though it says it's 1500 mAh, I expect them to be more around 1200 - 1400 mAh.

I've used Chinese batteries every chance I get. They do work. From an Eris to the Dinc. 3500mah. Never had a problem. Emails and games etc. I bought the extended battery along with the Tbolt. Just don't like the hump on the back. I'm on eBay every night waiting for the Chinese to strike with a extended battery. At least a Better extended back cover. When I get around to ordering up the batteries Ill post a chart like that on a seperate thread for our phone. I have some pretty sophisticated logging equipment. It shows the temp, charge capacity, voltage, mah, cell balance and health in an easy to read graph.
Im not a battery nerd but I used to be into RC helicopters BIG time and when you have a $5000.00 helicopter that can kill someone its just normal practice to have the equipment to check your $800 batteries so they dont fail 80 feet in the air and blow up or decapitate someone, lol
Heres a video of one of my helicopters (Trex 700 electric) , this one uses two 6s 5000mah li-po batteries and each one costs over $300 and they only last 8 minutes before there dead The video isnt of me however, I need a video camera to post mine but the helicopter is identical for the most part.

i've bought extended batteries for phones for less than $15 each all in the 2400 to 3600 mah range. they last 2-3 days with normal use. the oldest one is 3 years old (g1) and still performs like new.

personally of all the batteries i have tried this is by far the best one until sedio has an 3500mah then i will be getting that i think

Which is a good or recommended battery for wildfire S

Hi Folks,
I recently purchased a HTC Wildfire S. I am quite disappointed by the battery performance. The dialer and android system always shows 49 % usage. Is it a bug in GB or is this normal behavior ?
I feel my battery drains out very fast in a day. I usually do a 20-30 mins of call/day. About 10-20 Mb of internet data via 2G. But at the end of the day around 8-8.30 PM my battery is almost at 25-30% or sometimes less than that. I have disabled all the vibrating notifications. Wi-Fi and bluetooth OFF, I have installed juice defender which shuts the data off when the phone is idle. Though there is some improvement after this, i still feel the battery is going down.
When googled about this, everyone had almost the same complaint. And the only suggestion was to have an extra 1500 or 1900 mAh battery. Now which is the recommended battery without making any change to the hardware etc
coz i see lot of them taking a 3500 mAh battery with extra cover and changing the contacts and all. I dont want to do all those but just to improve my battery performance. Can you help me out ?
I use this battery :
http://www.batterychampion.fr/produ...rtmentProductId/76703263/shopGroupId/95658473
I can use my device almost during 3 days without any charge : calls, sms, internet and games.
Its very large. I wanted a small phone...
The 1500mAh Replacement Battery For HTC HD7 fits the Wildfire S and gives you an approximate 20-30% boost in battery capacity.
Edit: Nvm, never bought a new battery lol
and what about 1900? any suggestion?
and btw, 1500 and 1900 battery has same sizes as the original? only the 2200 and 3500 needs a new back cover ,right?
the only extended battery worth getting is the Cameron Sino 2200mah version. Yes, it does make you phone quite a bit thicker...but it's the only one i've found that does what it's supposed to do.
I tried first a 3500mah version, but after a couple of weeks it lost it's ability to hold charge almost completely, so it was actually worse than the stock battery.
Next was the eCell 2350mah version (Gold), this didn't last much longer than the stock battery either, although it did give a litte extra, but no where near the 2x capacity of the stock, as it should have been. (i think i got like an extra hour or two oout of it)
and finally....the CS 2200mah version.....where I usually get around 8 hours tops on the stock battery (i leave things syncing every hour, quite alot of texts every day, a fair bit of internt use too), I can now use my phone for 2 full days straight, and by night-time on the second day it's finally down to around 10-15% battery left, so go mad playing games for an hour or two to really run it down to nothing, then leave it on charge over-night.
I would highly reccommend this battery, it's the only one you'll ever need, and you can actually make use of the "smart" features of your phone....I can actually use programs that need GPS without having to worry if my battery will die, leaving me stranded
it only costs around £10 on ebay.....

the thickness is something you get used to, and some people even find it a bit more comfortable to hold....so it's not necessarily a bad thing.
A review of the Cameron Sino.
It comes as advertised.

From my personal experiences the HD7 replacement doesn't give that boost. Maybe I got a weak unit... Soon I will order another one just to make sure.
I suggest you check this thread for comparisons between different batteries and results:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419930
On page 3 of that thread I show my tests and comparisons of:
HTC Stock 1230mAh
HD7 1500mAh replacement
ECell Gold 2430mAh
Thanks to d33ps1x for his great public service testing several batteries and showing us what we can expect from them. If he didn't open that thread (and others) I probably wouldn't have shared my results.
I suggest everybody take a good luck before spending their cash.
I've recently bought the 3500mah battery with black cover at FocalPrice for 6€ shipping included.
When I get the order I'll post my results.

3500... i rly hope it will be that much, but it will more likely be 1700 to 2000 MAX
I thought that too but a friend bought it and told me that his phone stays on for a least 2 days without charging it.
When it arrives my home I'll post my results with pics of the difference.

okay, we expect your review .. .
I got the Cameron Sino Tech 2200 mAh about a week ago.
I cant give an accurate review of the battery but I've found that its well worth the extra size for the extended life, i get a couple of days out of it now.
Its cheap as well and now I have a spare battery so if I know i'm gonna be away from a charger I can take the original battery with me.

Like other people have seen (d33ps1x for example), the Cameron Sino 2200 mAh is the best bang for the buck. Even if it makes your phone "fat" it is a real power improvement.
The ECell Gold 2430mAh has barely 1600mAh inside so it's obviously false advertising when they say that they use Li-Polymer. I have one and ordered the second unit because even if it doesn't correspond to what's promised, it still gives a nice boost comparing to stock.
I'm also curious how different the two batteries can be. The second one will arrive this week. I will prepare it and test it as soon as I get it in the mail.
All those 1500mAh you can find on eBay are only marginal improvement when comparing to the stock battery. If they can provide 1300-1350mAh then you are a very lucky owner.
There are some amazing batteries out there, but they are too expensive.
I'm talking about Mugen Power Batteries:
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/
I had one of their batteries on my HTC Desire and it was something out of other world. If you follow their instructions (that come with the battery) you won't regret buying one. Right now the Wildfire S 1500 mAh is out of stock and will be ready for shipment on the 17th February. This means they're being produced now and who buys them will get brand new batteries, that haven't stayed for months in a warehouse. If they were cheaper I would definitely order one. If Mugen Power announces 1500mAh, they're definitely inside.
I want to buy the Cameron sino 2200 may, but will it fit a metro pcs wildfire s???
I get one or two days? I think that's good? It's longer when wifi is off.

I got the battery, it fits, but it's BIG! I got a soft silicone case and it works. It stretches and fits fine, it protects the phone without a back cover.
The battery is a definite improvement over the original.

hyperion battery vs stock

ok so i tested both batteries with a video!
(video = bf3 gameplay 1080p .wmv) looping over and over with mx player
each battery at 100%
stock is i believe 1850 mah
hyperion is 3500 mah
stock lasted 1 hour and 55 minutes at 10%
hyperion at 10% left beat stock by 45 minutes more
doesnt seem great increase in life but its something....any thoughts?
ohh yea i had to leave phone in my Frig because that phone was getting smoking hot
Hm.. I expected it to last longer than that. How long have you had the extended battery?
woah! practically double the size, certainly not double the life.. That's kind of disappointing
Sent from my LG-P930 using XDA
moved to accessories
If battery is double the size the we should expect double the usage. 55 stock and 55 + 45 for Hyperion.
Sounds OK to me
Sent from my LG-P935 using Tapatalk 2
@stemalo,
You missed that it was an hour and 55 for stock. So 115 minutes for stock and 160 minutes for Hyperion. Not so great.
I'm certainly getting close to double the battery life with my hyperion battery.
Perhaps you just got a dud? Also, cold temperatures are not kind to batteries, so that may have skewed results too.

battery ive had for about two weeks now...hmm i guess the frig didnt help my results
....well hyperion is like pretty much one hour extra...i guess its something
Some things to keep in mind...
1. New rechargeable batteries (of any chemistry) usually require anywhere from a few to a few dozen charging cycles before reaching peak performance.
2. There's no regulation on how a manufacturer goes about claiming the capacity of a battery, I have no doubt that Hyperion's rating of 3,500mAH probably has a real-life rating more in the neighborhood of 2,700mAH...Especially at such a discounted price.
3. Testing while looping a movie seems like a good indicator. I'd only suggest also putting the phone into airplane mode (to remove the radio from the equation), use an App Manager to make sure nothing else is running and lock the CPU to a specific frequency (if you have SetCPU) during testing.
Even so, 160min vs 115min is about a 40% increase over stock...So 1850mAH increased by 40% is right about 2600mAH, which is right around the range of my #2 statement above.
IMHO, with this 3rd party lesser-known name and at well less than the cost of what the OEM battery costs at -supposedly- half the capacity?...Yeah, I'm setting my own expectations on the low side when I receive mine that I ordered yesterday.

ohh yea i had the cpu locked at 1.512 with no frills cpu control at performance....screen brightness was about half....i had wifi on...data on...gps on...bluetooth on....
and after all that mess my phone was acting real funky...like it wouldnt send text it would male phone calls...i rebooted and rebooted but it didnt help...i restored a backup and than it all worked....i guess the rom got screwed up or something...
I just got a Hyperion 3500mAh battery for the Motorola photon.
The performance and charge time indicate that it is in fact a 2200mAh battery.
I was disappointed by the deceptive advertising, labeling, and bait and switch.
For the price not bad for a 2200mAh, but I hate the deception so I am going to shout it loud and far across the web, so people know what they are getting in not in fact a 3500mAh battery, but is a 2200mAh battery.
That is all

Another Gold 3500 battery review...slightly scientific

Wanting more battery life and having reading a few positive reviews about the Gold 3500, I got one from Amazon (UK). The numbers 3500 vs 2500 mah indicate I should get around 40% extra battery life compared to stock but having played with RC cars and helicopters running LiPo packs I know that pack ratings aren't everything.
Actual battery capacity depends on the discharge rate, the more juice you pull the less the effective battery capacity you get with a lot of energy wasted in heat due to internal battery resistance. Fact of life with batteries of all chemistry.
My original battery is about 6 months old now, charged daily from anywhere between 0-50% remaining. In day to day use the Gold does seem to last longer based on my 6 months experience with the original battery but how much better is it?
I charged the batteries in my phone and turned the phone off once it hit 100% but kept the charger on as it seemed to charge for a bit longer.
Using my RC battery charger, I used the discharge function setting the low voltage cut off to 3V (standard for lithium batteries) and set the discharge rate at a constant 300 mah. Using a constant discharge rate may not be realistic but it does allow for a fair comparison, keep in mind that our phones power usage jumps up and down depending on use.
Results
-----------
6 month old stock battery rated at 2500 mah = 2364 mah (which is what I would expect from a battery with 180 cycles on it)
Brand new Gold 3500 rated at 3500 mah = 2524 mah (a bit disappointing but at least as good as a new stock battery)
Now the discharge rate can make a big difference to effective battery capacity, it might be that the 3500 mah rating on the Gold batteries was determined using a very low discharge rate or they discharged it to below 3V.....or its just a gold wrapper over a stock battery
Interesting to note that the stock Sammy battery is pretty true to its rated capacity, so the perceived increase in battery capacity I experienced with the Gold battery is probably just the difference between a 6 month old battery and a new one.
Oh well, at least I have a spare battery now and didn't pay a fortune for the Gold. The Gold does seem to last a bit longer than the 6 month old stock on so I am happy enough with it.
Notes:
Gold battery had been in use for 2 weeks to run it in
Only one discharge cycle was performed
Could be that I have a dud battery, you results may differ
In real day to day use the discharge properties of the Gold may result in a higher 'effective' capacity
Solar flares are the source of all coding errors
Fairies do live at the end of your garden :cyclops:
It's a shame i've read this post only two days after buying me one of those. Anyway, even if it won't last longer, i'd still have a spare battery right? So everything is not lost
nope, its a shame they rate it 3500mah if this is the case for all.
Mignon, maybe your can get a replacement from thrm and test again. Especially if you have a dud.
Do notice I notoce a significant increase in battery life after charging it past 100%. Probably placebo, I dont know.
Don't think I have a dud, in my experience lion batteries either work or don't. It's not a crap battery, it's just as good as stock but doesn't match the advertised 3500 mah rating.
And it's shiny gold so things aren't that bad

Well that sucks.....haha...i order a gold a week ago.....it should be here soon.....
I got 3500mah gold battery. I review it.
My rom is ultimate rom v5.1, and my stock battery was 11 months old.
Screen on time was always less than 4 hours.
Yesterday I got the gold battery, and I used it up to 1% without first charge, then I charged it 12 hours to initilize the battery.
So unpluged the charge, and tested it as the same usage. I always downclocked to 1000MHz, wifi on, no use 3g data, brightness is zero, bluetooth and gps is off. I downloaded 15 files and apps today, listened to music, did multi windows function, and almost used web browsing.
Now my battery is just 1%. Screen on time is over 5 and half hours. Obviously the battery was improved.
If official JB are released, the battery will be improved more.
But this is not made in Japan. This is made in China because Japanese is so strange on package.
Some of Chinese battery are so dangerous and may be fake, but this gold battery is good one.

I dropped my stock and it works perfectly till 55% then it dies. Gonna throw it away soon. So some of the cells could be damaged. Its not either they work or dont m8.
@Mingnon thanks for your effortful tests.
@eeynjae, what are all apps spreading around those icons in your notification bar ?
I am pretty sure most mobile 3.7v phone batteries are single cell, only the mugen styled battery extender jobs that require a different back cover run two cells in parallel.
Remaining capacity is usually just a function of cell voltage so it's strange that it should just tank at 55%. Battery protection circuits generally prevent discharge past 3.0 volts so not sure what it's going on there.
Either way it sounds like you need a new battery, wouldn't risk recharging a damaged cell...

yeah its strange. Stuff started to happen at 50, whrn restarting bat percentage dropped to 10-15%. Without restartingbit would go down normally in beginning. Now after using it some time and dropping it its 55%.
Its definitely it either works or doesnt.
Anyway I dont think it's single cell.
i have the same battery bought it a few months back i'am very satisfied....
it's not a 40% extra time even framework it designed to work with less voltage since after using it below 15% i notice always fake meter value, when you keep your phone asleep for half an hour you will notice an increase in percentage. not accurate but runs fine, its a spare and a great replacement i dont care if it's slightly powerful than stock at least its the same size for 4 extra hours.. i never needed to change case nor a cover of anything its great
Sorry for my off-topic question, but i see in this topic there are advised people recently i bought a noname car charger for my Note, (specs: output 5.5V DC, 800mAh) - is this charger good for the Note or it would damage it? (i read somewhere that the original car charger's output is 5V... this difference of 0.5V has any importance?) Thanks.

Thanks for your time and efforts - your results are similar to my amateurish measurements performed twice and reported on the other 3500 battery thread. Having no device to test the actual capacity, I just used the continuous video playback in plane mode with minimal backlight. The time to full discharge was almost identical in both cases.

It won't damage your phone, but if you are going to use it as a gps while charging, it will probably keep dranig the battery, 800mah is not enough to charge it while screen is on and gps is running
