Replacement of the standard ICS launcher. As other alternatives it is fully based on the ICS standard launcher but has some extra options, like:
* Alternative top bar with a some handy options
* Option to turn the top bar off and create a clean desktop with 5 scaled desktop rows.
* two extra page transition effects: tablet "window wall" transitions, like on the current honeycomb tablets, and "stack" animations (same animation as the one that is used in the drawer)
The list will be growing and growing. I started this just for fun. Suggestions and requests are welcome and appreciate it.
Changelog
Beta 1 Initial release
Beta 1.01:
New animation effects for desktop page transitions:
"Card off Stack" effect (like the drawer)
"Tablet effect" - Like on Android 3.0+ Tablets
New plans
Manual
The settings can be found in the upper right corner of the drawer ("OPTIONS")
Happy new year!
Direct downloadable from the Android market (free):
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.beansoft.home_installer
Installer for installing the app in the system directory is included (together with an uninstaller)

Dl'n now. Anything by the team that brought us thumb keyboard is going to great.

Amazing work looks great^^
As far as suggestions are needed, I would love to see new homescreen transitions^^
especially I would like the appdrawer effect on my homescreens^^

Looks good! For features I would suggest circular scrolling and being able to resize any widget, which would be some of my most missed features from other launchers.

very nice idea.
for the top bar i'd say get rid of the calender link and instead when you press the date, have that go to the calender.
maybe make the left a search or voice actions link.
as far as other suggestions, i suggested this in nova and got ignored.
if possible, i think it would be awesome to get the tablet homescreen transition working on a phone.

I like adjustable columns and rows. I set it high so I have more precise control over widgets. I also use Android Widgets Pro for twitter and Facebook. The more column/rows the more that is visible on screen.

Tablet (honeycomb) transition is working (not full screen yet).. will add it as an experimental option in the version I will upload later today.
Great suggestions for the top bar. My plans are to make that top bar highly customizable. Which means, amonst others, that users will be able to put all kind of shortcuts on it.

Will add this most certainly to a later version. For now this is not the top most priority. I believe the nova launcher already has this? And I know they are working on such a feature for the CM Trebuchet launcher.

Amazingly fast^^

How do I turn off the top bar? Thanks!

Suggestion
Since you started by changing the top bar, why not name this Top Launcher? Has a nice ring to it, is marketable and less generic than Home Launcher.

Oh I can't see it on the Nexus S..
Unlike Nova this launcher works really well actually with the Nexus S and looks really good on it but I just can't change the options..
Do you have any plans to make it compatible with it? Thank you!

I do have a problem
I want to install your launcher, but I just cant find it. I used your market link, but it says, that it isnt compatible with any of my devices. Looking for Home Launcher in the market doesnt give me your launcher either
could you maybe upload the apk? or something else? I really dont know, why it doesnt work.
I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.0.2. Is the version a problem?

That's great news! I didn't test it on a hdmi device but tried to be as general as possible.
Why can't you change the options? Don't you see the menu item on the top of the drawer. It's above the tabs. You should see APPS and WIDGETS on the right and OPTIONS on the left.

I've set it to sdk 15 (4.0.3) and above. I know it crashes on version 4.0.1 and I assume it will also FC on 4.0.2
Nevertheless I will try to get a version out that would be compatible with 4.0.1 and above. With the new market system that would be no problem.

Haha yeah it works really well! Fast and looks like it's optimized for this resolution.
And no I can't see the menu item, all I see is Apps, Widgets and the market icon.. Just like the stock app drawer..
Maybe you can implement it in the menu that pops up when you press the physical button that the Nexus S has..

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

ParanoidAndroid JellyBean - v1.99
v1.99
Officially build from sources
OTA Updates are back via goomanager (incorporated on the ROM)
PA version in Settings > About
Fixes and CM merges
crespo4g: fixed gps and sensors
v1.98
Project butter recents in tabUI (2/2)
Quick access hybrid properties by longpressing a recent app
More refined hybrid algorithm to reveal more layout containers
TabletUI toggles
All recent cm merges (Trebuchet, googles 4.1.1 r4 with a whole bunch of fixes for memory leaks, etc)
v1.97
New option: "large" to trick an app thinking the device has a real big screen. some need it, like amazon kindle to jump into tabUI. some even react on it, gdrive will slightly adapt its layout - makes only sense if you give it a small dpi though.
The algorithm to extract the actual layout containers from apk files works more precise and can reveal more than before. there will still be a few apps left who do that layout stuff in java - we will add an override button for that, but in the meantime you can edit /system/etc/paranoid/properties.conf .layout=360 for phone-like UI, 600 for phablet, 720 = tablet, 1280 = super huge tablet
Several bugfixes from us and cm
v1.96
Breakthrough: We can finally target the actual layout containers inside the apk. If an app brings only phoneUI, you see it right away as you only have one UI option. If it brings ten, you will be able to pick each one of em. We're finally away from this Phone/Phab/Tab nonsense.
Total Hybrid engine revamp, alot less clutter, many bugfixes, apps wont make jumps when you load them up because their actual size is calculated by the engine.
Panel is still growing. It brings new options and new preferences that can even change android system settings.
All recent cm10 patches and fixes
v1.9.5
Finally hardware accelerated recents in TabUI, as fluid as ever. The ugly gradient is gone aswell
Paranoid got its own dir in /system/etc/paranoid - pad.prop is not properties.conf
A clean backup properties file is shipped, you can make a full reset in the panel in case you lost it with all the settings you made
Force option can be activated in the panel, good for widget scaling
The DPI sliders in the panel read min/max props from properties.conf, define them as you like
TabUI Recents are back to a bigger size, this is temporary, i'll look for ways to port the phone implementation as project butter skipped the tabUI code
CM fixed alot of features again, we included them all
v1.9.2
Softkeys toggle
Merged CM's theme engine
Fixed a few unclean sources
HDPI adjustments
Fixed Wifi Supplicant
v1.9.1
Hybrid bugfix, finally keyboard/facebook scaling works on JB again without sideeffects
Layout fix for notificationcenter gap in tabUI
Layout fix for recents in phabUI
Speed prefs ask for reboot
New bootani thx to nasaorc
CM10 patches
How to set the workspace mode
How to change an apps Layout and size
Sick thanks

Switched to tablet mode and the signal and battery icons are almost too tiny to see. Is there a setting I missed somewhere?
EDIT/ Fixed. Didn't realize I could change the density of systemui. >_>
Everything working good so far. MMS works fine for me. No 4G here to test. This is probably my favorite ROM ever.

What did you ultimately set it to? I tried choosing the tablet mode preset, then put the System UI DPI to all the way up to 240 and still have an unuseable notification bar. I tried a couple of times, but no luck. Also looks like I don't have navigation icons. I figured I'd need to turn on the nav bar, but can't find anything for that yet. Any advice would be appreciated.
Edit: Duh! I found the nav bar and turned it on. I'm also using Nova Launcher, which I thought would make a difference. I tried messing with settings of both the stock launcher and Nova with no luck. It looks like I might be actually changing the size of the icons, but the height of the notification bar area does not change.
One more edit: in full disclosure, I'm using lowrider's custom GApps package, so I'm downloading the one in the OP, just to make sure I'm not causing the problem for myself.
have to ask this, but does this have the volume wake feature?

[APP][TRIAL] DeskBar Launcher will replace your soft buttons and more!

Hello!
I'm an Android developer and I almost finished a new app called Deskbar Launcher.
I created it for many reasons. First I was fed up by the look of the system bar with Home/Back/Recent Apps and the huge waste of space it makes. Like many others I tried alternative solutions like HideBar and the likes but then I looked at my laptop and at its ribbon bar which I use all the time and I thought it would be a good idea to have something similar on Android.

Download links are now in the new thread here. If you have any comments, suggestions or problems, please report there. Thanks
Features :
-can replace your soft buttons (sadly Back button needs root, after lots of search I don't think it is possible otherwise)
-add shortcuts to your favorite apps on the bar
-music controllers to go to pause/go to next/previous song in any apps
-volume controllers
-lock button to minimize accidental input of your bar and soft buttons
-access all your apps in StartMenu as well as categories such as Pictures, Music, Settings, etc.
-(experimental)(ROOT)fullscreen mode.
Future features:
-Folders
-Themes
-Reboot button for root users
-etc
I developed it mainly on Nexus7, that's why I post here before releasing it on the Play Store. It is a Trial version of 10days and when you launch it you need internet access for verification, after it's not necessary except if you reload it. A licence key will soon be available.
There might be some bugs!
Questions
Q:I don't have Root and not having a back button is not possible for me, it seems I can't use your app.
Q:I already got rid of my system bar, it will cover screen content so it's not usable for me too.
A: You can! Deskbar Launcher has an autohide feature so you can still access your back button. Bring it up only when it's needed!
Q: I have one bar for soft buttons and notifications (no status bar on top) . Your app will cover the notification part and I won't be able to access my notifications
A. There is a setting especially for that so the Deskbar takes only half your device's width, in the future the width of Deskbar might be more customizable.
Q : Can I use it on my other tablet/phone ?
A. Yes! It is theoretically compatible with all 2.2 or + Android devices! There might be some problems on specific rom or with some manufacturers. Please report to me in this case.
i'll try and report,i haven't mean exactly what does (using it is more intuitive!)
thanks for now mate!
Will be testing this for sure!
Edit
Light usage so far
Pros:
- Quick easy access to your music, photos, and documents
- Completely changes look and feel of the bottom nav bar without need for root or new ROM
- can view and switch to apps of your choice quickly with out exiting current app
- in-depth settings with good amount of customization
- work around for non-rooted users
Cons:
- visual appeal isn't appealing( to me at least)
- nav buttons feel a little too close together
- cannot change the color of the bar
- auto hide feature needs work as it seems finicky
What I would like to see:
- short cuts to user defined app in menu
- options to change colors
- quick toggles in menu (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc...)
Other then that I really like it and its a good change. Will love to see the advancement of this project later down the road! Great work indeed!

Thanks for your feedback!
About suggestions and bad points:
-Yeah visual appeal is kind of generic, I'm not the best at design/art . Themes should give a workaround for those who don't like it in one of the next updates. (By the way there was a bug with the start button not showing the glowing icon when start menu was displaying . It's fixed in the new version, it's the same download link, uninstall is needed if you have the previous version.
-I plan on adding a setting to have custom distance between buttons because on some device space is precious and on others there's plenty of it.
-Themes should also address this issue
-Not sure what you mean by this, I admit it's not ideal because there's no animation, it just goes down after a 3seconds delay. I will add a smooth movement option in the future.
-user-defined shortcuts in menu is planned, as well as folders containing app shortcuts
-I'll try to add Theming fast
-Quick Toggles is indeed interesting, I'll think of ways to add it in the Menu.
Awesome! I see this as being a good hit

This damn thing is INTUITIVE. Seriously, I love the feel of it and it really looks quite nice on my N7. Cheers for letting us try this, I think its a really good fit and shows promise of something in the future. Killjoy question: what will the licensing price new?
Im really loving this! I do have have more thing that I would like to see added and that would be having resizeable options for the menu its self. More so users can choose exactly how many pixels the pull up menu actually takes up. I'm also picky like that though.

Very minor complaint: after about an hour of use, it starts to feel a bit sluggish. That is, I'll tap on home, back it recent and it'll take about a second to respond. I rebooted my tablet and suddenly I got my groove back. Maybe it's a memory issue? Just thought I'd chime in, I'm really enjoying this mod!
Love it so far!
Two little things:
-ability to change icons/icon sets of shortcuts
-expanded version of the menu to see more apps at once
Thanks

Hello!
Can you tell me when it's happening and if it's after a precise action ? Could you use the CatLog app (or any similar one) to get me a crash report ? Thanks!
You might be low on memory and the system decide to stop the app to free some.

Music buttons worked great, as did the launcher button. No shortcuts added. I'm wondering if the error came from my rom or what, I'm running slim bean beta 2 with faux beta 14b01. Haven't had any issues since restarting, maybe it was a fluke?
New version uploaded which uses less memory and has a new welcome screen ( not so well done but I wanted one to have a link to the video tutorial I finished ).

Maybe, or it's the way to simulate virtual buttons that can sometimes go wrong, it's kind of a hack but there isn't really any alternative. It should work most of the time and as well as similar apps offering virtual buttons alternative.
I have to go, I'll be back tomorrow.
EDIT:I forgot to add if you already installed it, erase app data before uninstalling and installing the new one because the way data was saved as changed.
Greats Job, Please add volume button up/down on navigation bar, thanks

I found what it was, it concerned all devices with Android version under 3.0. It's fixed (new version in OP) except maybe for the "Switch App" button.
Could you test for me or someone else with a device on 2.2/2.3 ? Thanks

As soon as I noticed the trail 10 days crap I uninstalled it. Sigh. Why can't people do things without money motivating them?
I can see if it was finished but its not even close.

What a great idea. Please keep the 10 day trial available once its more refined, I will definitely try and probably buy.

Looking for: Custom 4.4 ROM that have all these fully functioning features...

Full screen mode without built-in ROM pie controls
Tablet mode
customizable quick settings
Brightness slider
Flash player APK
BT a2dp
DSP audio
Tasker to launcher music app and max volume when connecting to BT audio
Wi-Fi tether
PGM2/touch control aka LG G2 double tap to wake screen
Lock screen swipe w/5+ shortcuts
Full screen w/pie controls stock web browser
Auto push hotmail via stock email APK

I'm still running 4.1.2 since all the above features work great for me, but would like to update to 4.4 if it can match them.
Wonder! Do you think you are the only one who wants this things?
Hmm
Everyone should open new topic for what they want.
After that i will build new special 4.4 roms for everyone.
Maybe i can build 4.5 too.

I did test out a couple of ROMs but none seem to list any of the additional features, most just list the bugs.
So was just wondering if anyone knew of any.

Running CM11 ROM.
I'll just live without tablet/extended mode for now, editing the LCD density in build.prop to 268 helped make the text/icons smaller for more screen real estate.
Only minor bug I've found so far is the stock browser crashes when trying to select pull down menu built into certain websites.
Looks like I'll just have to stick to my current 4.1.2 ROM setup if what I've just read is true, that Google completely removed tablet mode coding from 4.4+ KitKat android OS.
Only hope now is if a Dev finds a method to some how bring it back.

I might give it another go, but all the 4.2/4.3+ custom ROM's I've tested out have had some sort of issues.
+ I honestly dislike the silly square quick tiles layout update after 4.2+ and the lock screen widgets.
Eg.
I'd need:
Tablet mode without any extra zoom/fit screen icons on status/nav bar
Stock browser that doesn't crash with full screen quick controls enabled
Extended desktop without the built in PIE controls, need straight date/time/battery info not the silly sideways info
Brightness bar present on quick toggles that's adjustable without it disappearing after first attempt as are the other toggles(Wi-Fi/torch/rotate/GPS/AP)
See-through lock screen w/min. 5 app swipe ring shortcuts while still displaying date/time/alarm/battery info.
Etc...
LOL

It's just that Google decided to change their UI and system design language, to make it simple and streamlined, and I think I love that.
Seeing your screenshots reminds me of some Gingerbread elements (e.g. non-Holo icons, super-big icons, rounded corners...) and having been spoiled by the "awesomeness" of 4.4, I actually feel very uncomfortable looking at those OVERLY customized experience.
Again, personal experience, YMMV...

Seriously though, these type of threads are against the rules of XDA, if you want certain features then find roms that contain them yourself.
Looks like we have a winner!
CM-remix has won my vote.
Running w/ART enabled which also works with:
apex launcher
PGM2
Only a couple issues:
Under settings selecting storage tab crashes settings
When Google now is enabled selecting any search results crashes stock browser on launch (w/full screen browser mode)
S p a m. Use xposed. Peace

Except for lock screen ring, I recommend you Paranoid Android. Not at the moment, because it's on beta and the majority of those features are being rewritten from scratch. But Halo, Pie and Hybrid are the best features, and the new versions will be even better. PA Pie are the best. In new version they also included a QuickSettings2.0 that are so good and Transparent LockScreen is blurred to protect your privacy (I remember that blurred is configurable). Also included Immersive Mode like others.
At least, be updated about their job and when they launch a release with the rest of their features.

My plan WAS to wait until a hybrid PA 4.4 ROM was available, but I gave up after reading how Google had removed side by side tablet coding from 4.4 in favor for the slide out bar method.
CM-REMIX has all the features you've mentioned and many more:
For better/purer screen whites/colors, tweak use the following pics, you may need to set one # at a time:
It seems great. I'll try it.
Btw, I wait for PA. New Halo will be more integrated with system and I don't change it for nothing. It's the only feature that I can't live without it. Thanks for info, screenshots and color calibration

and "Paranoid SaberDroid + REMIX"

xposed installer/wanam work

So far, I have enabled 4 way reboot. everything seems to be fine so far. I'm on the supplied stock rom. Taking this slowly as I do not want to encounter something I can't repair. As knox is tripped, you know the rest...
also I have reduced dpi to 300 from standard 320. Will try 280

update, 280 seems fine as well...
obviously root is needed

It does. However, you need to be careful as to how low (small) you want things to be. Proceed slowly and reboot frequently, as this is a new devise and we do not know the limits of the os. If you crash it, your only recourse will be odin; and sometimes it doesn't work

I've been trying to customize the quick settings section of the notification shade using wanam but haven't had luck getting all components to change colors. The light background of the volume control seems to be tied to a variable not in the theme section as is the green indicators (the color I hate most on the quick settings tiles).
270 DPI is an excellent resolution. See mine below. PLENTY of real estate on that screen now! Oh yeah. And still got room for more.
A good app that I've tested and used is: jrummy app called "ROM toolbox Pro" however only for changing the DPI. Usually I just edit the build.prop file as well too. Xposed installer using the module "App settings" works perfectly to do this.

Hello,
I am a newb in the whole android community (1 month use, but i am a quick learner).
I have already rooted my SGNP and I am trying to research more about what i can and what i can NOT configure in my Note Pro.
For example, thanks to your post here I learned that someone else tried to install Xposed with the Wanam module.
I search a lot for more post of this kind and came up with almost nothing so thats why i think that it will be much appreciated if there will be more sharing of experienced SGNP users of Xposed modules that are safe to use.
I think that my main concern is the lack of understanding about compatibility between other android devices. For example: Can i search for a specific module and find that it works on Galaxy Note 3 and know that it will also work on my Note Pro?
If anyone can help more with links for:
SGNP apps for rooted device
SGNP Xposed modules
SGNP custom ROMs
SGNP Bloatware system apps that can be uninstalled
Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Ray
Primarily what I look for when installing Xposed modules on my Note Pro is feedback in both the description in Xposed Installer for the module and in the XDA support thread for that module on whether or not it's compatible with Touchwiz. If either sources say to stay away I heed that warning.
I'd say if you're unsure of compatibility of a module it doesn't hurt to ask here to see if anyone else has installed it.
As far as bloatware removal I've been hesitant to do so; I've frozen a bunch of things but the only applications/services that I've deleted outright is Knox related ones since freezing those would not stop their services from loading up as cached apps. My issue with trying to uninstall things is I don't want to have to rebuild all of my customizations if I have to factory reset, nor do I want to take the time to do nandroid backups prior to every tweak just to see if the tweak works.

Question: I've made the DPI 270 and the icons are indeed a bit smaller, however now I have a large dead space at the bottom of the screen and also the homescreen. Is there any way to extend the Grid or something? I know the area is usable because I've used Nova and Apex and can use the entire screen, but I'm trying to use the TW Launcher. Screenshot attached.

As the expression goes, you can't teach an old dog new tricks . . TW launcher may have the new magazine UX feature but as far as custom grid sizes to leverage more screen space you're SOL. Switch to Nova or Apex or some other custom launcher.

Question Bigger grid?

Just got the fold 4, it's my first fold. I don't really care for OneUI but it's the only thing that lets me properly configure the home screen when folded or unfolded. The only issue I haven't been able to overcome so far is the lack of home screen grids.
Best I'm getting right now is 5x6. I'm mostly ok with 5 columns although I would prefer 6, but only 6 rows it's painful! It's there any way to up this?
I grabbed good lock and installed home up, but they are disabled in there and cannot be changed.
Use folders. Every pixel you light is sucking energy and causing wear on the oleds.
Or use One Handed Operation plus, not sure how that will work on the fold.
I have over a dozen hidden touch or swipe shortcuts on this homepage, 4 are on the Digi Clock.

I haven't found many more. Then again...good lock covers almost all the bases IMO when it comes to tweaking the UI.

Try resizing the widget or throw on the 2nd page.
One UI is a great launcher once you learn it's capabilities. It's the best one for Samsung's and it's rock solid stable. The Edge clipboard stores multiple copies, very useful. Much of the Samsung ecosystem is great but it has its quirks I like virtual navigation keys, hate swipe, no problem with Samsung. One Handed Operation plus lets you do a bunch of tricks too, including this. Useful when an app locks navigation.
DIGI Clock is slick, one of my favorite apps. I use as a launcher constantly. Very customizable clock too.

I've tried resizing them but they wont go thinner than the rows themselves, which leaves them super thick. I'd like these widgets im using (there's 10 total, its the "Crypto Ticker Widget") to be roughly half the height they are, but its seeming like this is going to be impossible.
I understand the Samsung ecosystem, my household has always had Samsung phones, and im the tech guy so im always using them and learning them, but none of the methods i've found work for the Fold 4. I've attached a screenshot so you can see what i mean. I do have cover screen mirroring on so the unfolded phone's desktop is 2 separate desktop columns instead of one big one. I like this better and had even more issues when i didnt do it this way.

Yeah there's no other sizes. I've spent hours looking at other crypto widgets and none of them give me the features I want. I already have 5 pages of stuff, so I'm thinking I may just have to view it as a whole portfolio within an app instead, which really sucks.

I completely agree! I have one screen that I sit on most of the time. I usually swipe left to see my first list for the day (asking with a few other things like keep notes), and to the right for gaming and my calendar. This phone is different though... Since there's a lack of rows, now I have to use more pages. I guess it's time to either make my own fold launcher, or rethink my idea of a home screen haha. I think I'll go with the rethink. I'm tired of programming.

I use the homepage mostly. The folder are more inconvenient but save battery and display.
The shortcuts I use the most are on Digi Clock's quad switch or on the sides, One Handed Operation plus. The second page is a scratch page.
My biggest grip about Samsung is that the File Manager can't be set to sort by date photo was taken. Idiots.
Renumbering photos isn't easy either... and that will lead to problems. Canon's Zoom Browser or DPP sure by nice to have on Android...

If you like widgets but want them minimized check out pop widget.
What about Smart Widget feature built into One UI?

I did try this but it actually makes my widgets even taller! I like the idea but it doesnt work so well with stock/crypto widgets like this.
When you scroll down in the settings you can edit to any size.
Depending on the developer some of the Galaxy store icon packs may not display or respond to all setting options correctly. You need to test each; if one doesn't display correctly try another.
