Speed wise the fone is OKish as it has 200 MB of RAM out of which you get 100 MB free. By the time you keep using it 70 MB is all you have.
Froyo 2.2.1 works flawless in it.
Touch sceen is a bit bad as u need hard touch.
QWERTY works great but one big flaw...no "," in it.
Volume keys on the keypad itself.
2 music players inbut -- Music & 3D music player.
Dual cams work well
Fring gets installed but din try as no WIFI.
1200 Mah battery works gr8 for one or more days (Nokia BL-5K)
Dual sim support works gr8 aswell.
Very Light in weight but same time it is fragile.
Tones loud enough.
Still in testing phase will keep updated as I get more hands on experiance on it.
Btw it has 2 charging points 1 USB and 2nd Nokia point
it takes 3 hours to charge but holds good enough for long time
Need more info on this cell friends Kindly help me

Reboot Issue *RESOLVED*
Most of us might have experianced a reboot issue in this mobile.
I am a heavy user of this handset and was quite annoyed with the reboot issue.
It rebooted after some 5 - 6 hours ..the duration varied.
Solution:
What I did was:
In Settings --> Display --> Screen Time out ---> Set it to 30 minutes & mostly lock the screen on your own by pressing the center key or use an alternate screen lock widget on the homescreen.
The reboot is gone now
*NOTE: Never ever use Extended controls in this mobile: AS it slows the boot process and takes longer time to load the widgets on the screen.

The Android A8 is an unlocked Android cell phone. It gives you access to email, contacts, and calendar that synchronise with your web accounts and Personal Computer. The Android A8 lets you have your world, your way. The Android A8 smartphone is a perfect balance of form, function and affordability. It contains great quality of features.

...yes of course

How to solve problem with awful end call beep
ATTENTION!!!
It seems that one A8 may be not identical to another A8! Backup your phone before any system changes! It is your responsibility!
So, if you are brave enough:
Get modified Phone.apk (see attachment)
Copy original Phone.apk from /system/app/ to SD
Replace (do not delete or rename!) original Phone.apk in /system/app/ with modified Phone.apk (you need root privileges)
Reboot (you have no choice - A8 would be unusable at this point)
Return to /system/app and change permissions of new Phone.apk to rw-r--r--
Reboot again
Enjoy the silence! after call of course

As far as I know all A8 variations are equal in system part. So phone.apk behavior should be the same on all phones.

Well rooting it increases the reboot issue of the mobile as the RAM is 190 MB avaiable and gets flooded soon
Gingerbread is listed on some chinese websites for this fone, but performance is slow

@schloss - Thank you for the link... the only forum I found something abou Star A8 was the russian one and I had to translate with Google Translator to find what is here
Now is too late, I replaced "phone.apk" in system\app\ using Root Explorer and all is OK for now...
I also have a backup for original "phone.apk" just in case
LE: for noobs like me in the Android system - use RootExplorer Full Version to copy phone.apk and change permissions of new Phone.apk to rw-r--r--
What other questions do I have:
1. Is there any way to turn on the LED from camera when I use a flashlight application... I tried all the applications from the market, but no one can turn ON the camera led
2. One more thing: I use English language at menu and when I type a numer it appears a line "-" between every 3 digits like that "072-239-2803". I want to appear simple "0722392803". When I switched the phone in Italian language, everything is perfect. I think that is because is English US, not English UK
Can you help me with that too? Thanks again, in advance
LE2: Thanks again @schloss for you answer on the other forum:

@schloss - after replacing the files in system/lib, I restarted the phone and it is stucked on "Loading" - didn't start anymore

Thanks to @schloss again who told me how to flash my phone

Is anywhere a tutorial and the files to upgrade this A8 to Android 2.3 or above (any CFW) ?

Does anybody have a video ringtone app that works using this phone... I tried all from the market and were very slow or not working

As this phone has a limited amount of user memory available (RAM) thus some apps work slow, namely Viber, Angrybirds, etc

I know that... that is why I asked if anybody found a videoringtone application which works fluent on this phone
Someone said that neither a permanent call recorder application won't work,too... Try "Auto Call Recorder Pro" (attached here) and works fluent and without any beep during the call

ROM or Firmware
I have this phone, but they do not read the SIM chips, or has no line, i get on the screen to insert SIM. I have read in many forums and they all tell me that is the firmware or ROM, someone on here has it?
I have read a little about how to install, but if you like you know how to do so will give you all my thanks.
In fact I downloaded a file tell me is the firmware but when I try to put with the SP Flash Tool exe_v1.1052.03, tells me that INCORRECT SCATTER FILE FORMAT
The File size it's 80 Mb i cant attach here. and the link it's to long.
Thanks in advance.

NEWS
Hey guys, lot of things happened here is a short summary:
-i've sold my Diamond
-yozgatg released this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623048 (awesome job, i wish i had my diamond...)
-New version of Android: XDAndroid
-This thread won't be followed and updated by me from now on. sry T.T
If you still want to update your diamond, they have plenty of threads about it in Raphael or Blackstone sections which are the same builds with different startup.txt
So, I hope you had a good time with my crappy english writing, I wish you all have soon enough a stable every day use Android on Diamond

====================THIS THREAD IS MERELY A READY TO USE PACKAGE=========================
WIKI FOR ANDROID ECLAIR
http://glemsom.anapnea.net/android/htc-msm-android/
Read this also as it seems to answer, comment everything in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5308744&postcount=121
=================================================================================================
you can grab the build of 04 jan 2010 in my 4shared folder: techunter.4shared.com
=================================================================================================
Now a little explanation on how I proceeded:
3ways of doing it:
I/ Compile it yourself
-> not enough time didn't even tried but you can try here
II/ Download latest image
The packs you can have from sites are generally a stable android release. All the zImage and modules on msm-htc-android sites are all development packs, so choose wisely. Last update doesn't mean best update!
Prerequisite: create a dir name (for example) eclair_fs.
You can also put a Light Rom to make it boot faster or THIS ONE from yozgatg
a)===================
get the build package here:
Quoting this post (again its the main post for the Raphael/Blackstone/DIamond):

extract all in eclair_fs/ on your hard drive
b)===================
(Optional if your package in a) already has the zImage) get the zImage here:

(autobuild files, thx for posting this!)
you should have something like zImage-modules-DATE_VER.tar
--go to eclair_fs/ and delete the modules-2.6.27-00330-f485082e.tar (name differ with version) and the "zImage" files.
--untar (with winrar or whatever) in your eclair_fs/ the two files.
--rename the zImage.00000000 (figures as the build date) in "zImage" (without quotes).
-- leave the modules-2.6.27-00710-g485083e.tar you have just extracted with the same name.
c)===================
go to eclair_fs/startup-configs and make sure you have a DIAM100.txt (or whatever DIAMx00 you have, retrieve DIAMx00.txt).
*if YES then delete eclair_fs/startup.txt and copy+rename the eclair_fs/startup-configs/DIAM100.txt to eclair_fs/startup.txt.
*if NO then google another package (the one from connect-utb should have one).
d)===================
optional: make your changes in startup.txt
e)===================
delete the data.img file if you have one (when you make changes in your zImage or system.sqsh you have to delete data.img).
f)===================
now your eclair_fs should look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
g)===================
upload at your formatted Internal storage on your diamond TO THE ROOT (without your subfolder eclair_fs)
h)===================
Some bugs are yet to be resolved so to make sure you won't have to reboot again, make sure under Windows Mobile you have:
-disabled the PinCode
-Enabled the GPRS Connection (it works for me without this step but sometime not)
-disabled the airplane mode (if you activated the GPRS you should't be in this mode ^^
-disable whatever special state you put your phone in.
i)===================
run /InternalStorage/Haret.exe
Format your internal storage once in fat32, you don't need to format it every time you change between build.
III/ Get custom build from Raphael or Blackstone etc...
there : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601751
enjoy
FILE: 4shared.com (sry, the guy uploaded a new build fixing a bit the mic so I updated mine)
I uploaded different startup.txt (and Diam200.txt from jfran)

Go into WinMo and disable it.
-If you need your APN Profil:
check on your operator's website in the android page like for HTC Magic. exemple for SFR you can get the settings from sfr.fr under "My account" webpage of via their forum.
-Microphone too low?
known issue, sry.
-My version is too unstable?
download the package from Connect UTB and copy it directly into your storage card. Its the latest stable. The one I posted here is the latest dev.

YES battery is the most important issue for now ^^
-Something go badly wrong, like messed up volume button or whatever

I remembered someone asking about getting their outlook contacts onto their device, and noticed that in Contacts there is the option to import/export, so all you need to do is export contacts from Outlook and save the file to your root folder then open contacts in Android and import the csv file.
I came across the ability to program what function the end key can perform the options were along the lines -
1. close program
2. home page
3. close program and home page
4. do nothing
however, I cant seem to find the option and I am not sure if it was an application I was using or a setting function??? Anyone came across this?

yes, it works...you just have to change the startup file acording to your device.
There is already a startup file for the diamond. This works very well
Dont expect it to be a complete replacement for windows just yet. GPS and Camera do not work but thats minor.

Comments from testing?
Android not booting
Android does not boot on my device.It says "failed to find system.img on sdcard".Though a system.sqsh file is present in internal storage.I renamed it to system.img then too it fails with same error message.
interesting, anyone tested?
how about it's performance? smoother than windows 6.5?
mod please delete for double post...
Comments:
Best try for yourself. I found it to be a little annoying to use (much like most Linux machines i've used before). It sometimes seems a little laggy, and I couldnt work out how to turn my phone off since the power button just brings up a menu. Also my phone kept locking and I had to fiddle to get it unlocked again.
I'm not exactly sure how it runs on the phone. If it runs on top of my current rom then my experiences could be down to lack of RAM. When I did a soft reset my Windows ROM booted up and I've been using that until I can get a chance to play again.
Also, I am on O2 UK. I must need to get my 3G settings from somewhere because I couldnt get on the internet under linux.
I will definately be playing some more and will see about using it as a propper phone OS, once I get my contacts on my sim, and I get WWW working. It's very good IMO
It works god but it needs more work. there are problems to get GPRS to work
One good thing is that after a reboot it boots on WM, so you could try android and have your Windows back after a reboot =)
Can't get SMS to work, tried ATcommander.
dieselboy : To turn off the phone, just hold the End button.
so i got it on my diamond and it works rly fine!
is there any way to include htc sense in the android?
It doesn't boot with me.
I use a custom WM6.1 ROM (AZTOR WWE).
I copied all files and updates to the internal storage.
When I start HaRET from the explorer it shows a progressbar saying:
HaRET: Booting Linux ...
on the bottom of my screen is a second titlebar (from Windows) that shows me a Windows Start button, the text 'HaRET Version...' , a keyboard and all the icons I have in my titlebar (reception, volume, 3G icon...)
The progressbar doesn't get past (about) 95% and then everything freezes.
Anyone any idea? Do I need to stop TouchFlo or something?
GPRS and WIFI are unable to work.
Hang on a moment.
So this is now working in the sense that I can make a call and the microphone and ear piece now work?
I tried Android a few months ago and the only benefit I could see was that it ran and loaded but none of the phone hadrware was usable or a ***** to get gprs working.

So far I've figured out that the End Key is the power button; it puts it to sleep (which takes a while to wake up from).
The power button is Home or whatever it's called on Android; it takes you to the desktop.
Home key is menu button and is used to unlock, you can wake the phone up with either power button or menu button but then menu to unlock, sometimes you have to press it a couple of times.
Call button still seems to be call; it brings up the call log from the desktop.
I'm liking what I've seen so far; it's very intuitive. I haven't got 3G internet working though :-(.
API Demos
The simple bitmap ones work but Opengl ones just make the phone crash.
I can't wait to see this on a phone with the Tegra chip on.
Don't understand why When I set the sound to Vibrate. Bejewed still plays sound. It's Cool though
I accidentally started the Voice dialler which also crashed but it's cool. GPRS Data is working
WPA2 Wifi cool!
Gyro Sensors working

UPDATE: The versions in this post are obsolete (but can still be used of course). I've opened a new thread with a new version that supports more firmware versions and mods here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8973385

SGS Battery Icon Mod
(Update Fixed root checking r/w bug... Enlarged the font of percentage numbers in theme 1 - version 1 )
EDIT: Although I made this app as save as possible, **** can always happen. Of course, a nadroid backup is adviced as always But... there's another method to get you out of trouble, when you have booting problems. Look for it at the end of this post. (For this to work it is essential that you have turned on USB Debugging is the settings-application menu)
----
I decided to create a (Android) app to change the battery icon for the new Froyo versions (JPM and JP6). The app is based on the knowledge and work collected in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765419 (maintained by kalpik).
I have three versions to offer
a version with several themes to choose from (Only for JP6 Froyo Firmware). Current, there are only 3 themes but I will add themes in the future (have to create a client server construction first. 3 themes is the limit as far as the size of the app is concerned).
A version with just one theme for JP6 (added this because this one is "only" 7 Mb, while the first one is 22 Mb ).
And a version for JPM and JP6 with only one theme
** JP6 Version: 3 themes
Credits
First theme is by yours truly. Just the standard Froyo battery icon with a percentage in it (the battery status bar will jump with discontinuous steps of 20 - like the default froyo battery icon)
Second theme is by Fightspit
Third theme is by rom-g
Requirements
* JP6 Froyo version
* Root with r/w access (A SuperOneClick root will do because the app requires no busybox)
Installation
A) Dowload link (apk file, 22 Mb): http://www.4shared.com/file/tvTun0q9/SGS_Battery_Icon_Mod_-_Pro_2.html
(Two themed version: first two themes (apk file, 14mb): http://www.4shared.com/file/xXvZm6iD/SGS_Battery_Icon_Mod_-_Pro.html
B) A donation version of the most up to date version (€0.50) is available on the Android Market - Search for "Galaxy S Battery Icon Pro" or any creative combination of these words)
** JP6 version: 1 theme (C version from the battery mod repository thread)
Requirements
* JP6 Froyo version
* Root with r/w access (A SuperOneClick root will do because the app requires no busybox)
Installation
À) Get it from the Android Market - free (search for Galaxy S Battery Icon Mod - or any combination of these words), or
B) Download the attached SGS Battery Icon Mod.apk to your phone and click on it to install.
** JPM & JP6 version
Requirements
* JPM or JP6 Froyo version
* Root (A SuperOneClick root will do because the app requires no busybox)
* I tested only the JP6 version on my SGS i9000 so a bit of luck is also needed for the other version
Installation
Download the attached Battery_Mod.7z. Unzip the file and copy the unzipped apk file to your device. Click to install
A recovery procedure (from the battery mod repository thread)
A prerequisite is that you have USB Debugging turned on before you got into trouble. So if you read this before you are going to use the tool, now it's a good time to turn on USB Debugging under Settings->Applications
First download this file. That's the file (framework-res.apk) we are going to restore.
Then download this tool: http://www.mediafire.com/?wuzy9iss3k43v4h
Then follow these descriptions:
kalpik said:
Extract the tool.
Extract framework-res.apk from the downloaded file and copy it into the extracted tool dir.
Run Change Framework.bat
Accept the Superuser Permission prompt on the phone.
The script will reboot when it's done
Minor bug... You will need to set your wallpaper and google accounts again

Donations are very much appreciated. It will support this project enormously.
Consider also or instead a donation to Fightspit for his beautiful graphics or kalpik for his hard work. See also this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=76541.
great one!
I guess what it does is just to switch the framework file?
Great work! Thanks
jp6 version worked for me
Way cool!
Maybe you could have split the two versions (because of size), or better (?): let people download their desired mod and dump it in your application's map on the sd? This would reduce the size of your application drastically (and offer genormous flexibility). Just meant as a suggestion...
Is it possible to download this application on the sgs directly? (i.e. is there a "7z" decompression application on the sgs?)

Yep! Maybe I'll dump a bunch of framework files on a site somewhere so the app can download a framework-res file on the demand.

Yep thought of that also. I first wanted to see if such an app is needed and which battery mod version people prefer. If there are a lot of different preferences I maybe create a download-on-demand app. If there are just a few I'll split the app in several apps (don't like the idea to maintain those apps though )

Funny to talk to Dutch speaking people in English...
You could make it a "dumb" application where people do the downloading of the mod themselves, and if easily technically feasible somehow, check if the file matches the current firmware. The question then would be: is there something in the framework-res.apk itself to identify the firmware? If so, your application doesn't need too many updates.
edit: ah, there maybe could be some identifying thing, if you match it with the current one..
edit 2: since this is a battery mod application only you could check if the rest of the file remains the same as the current one. If some other mod is already present in the current framework-res.apk a user might not even want to apply it, so you could make this application really stern and static and (if necessary) add flexibility later on.

I have uploaded a new version only for JP6. This is an apk file that can be downloaded directly to a device.
In this version I check a build property and see if it contains the string "JP6"... If not the app will be closed. (I also assume that only Samsung Galaxy S devices have a build version that contains the string "JP6"... Maybe a bit too pragmatic)
Users can always revert to the old setting by clicking on Restore. It should be noticed that the settings that will be backed up (for informed users the framework-res.apk) are the settings before applying the battery icon modification.
BTW the framework-res.apk will be backed up to /sdcard (in case you have your own backup there.... please move it)
I'm not sure how this is easier than just downloading the zip and flashing through recovery, and if it's really worth the effort to maintain such an app! But if the people want it, they get it!
That's the power of open source

And.. with your method users have much more choices.. I only offer the C version
But I think that the direct downloadable apk version is easier. (No hassle of installing 2e recovery, uploading zip, going into recovery mode etc. etc.)
But to make sure: the credits go to you for preparing the res file(s)! I only "app-ed" it up.
I'm not sure if it's of any interest to you but I sat down last night and added colour to dani31's stock battery mod, I've attached the pngs below.
Sadly I don't posses the necessary black magic skills to put them into a flashable form

Great work mate
This is buggy as hell. I installed it on my JPM SGS, and it rebooted. But then it messed up some of the text, like the unlock screen says "Sending..." instead of "Sweep to unlock". I went to restore it, and now the app just closes because I "don't seem to have a Samsung Galaxy S with a JP6 FROYO version". I can't hit the restore button! Please fix.

Lol, why are you installing the JP6 version on a JPM version.... I've uploaded this app to the market, gave it the title "galaxy S battery mod", wrote in a description that it's only for the Samsung Galaxy S (several times) and I got comment that it crashes on a HTC EVO ...
But you're right there's something wrong with the test procedure. It doesn't run the first time but it does run the second and following times. Will certainly fix this. For now just copy the framework-res.apk file on your sdcard back to your /system/framework directory
I'm going to write a app to check how well one can read. I upload a app to the market that crashes the device and in the description i'm going to write don't download this app it will crash your device. To make it easy I'm going to give it the title Crashes your device - without exceptions. Let's see what the comments are LOL
Ah, didn't realize you made two different versions, my bad
Great, worked without problems on JP6 installed by KIES

No problem ... But hey, thanks for noticing that the test procedure isn't working the first time! I was notified about this this morning when I noticed that someone had managed to run the app on a HTC EVO.

Can you run it again, just to check if you pass the test ? Just fire it up. You don't have to change anything.
IT works like a charm on JP6 via KIES.

@HACKLEAKS The ROM is great, moving from PureXperia Z2 to this ROM. Thanks a lot. :good::good::good::good::good::good:
In camera, if i select preview size as full size, it gives me only 9 megapixel.
13 megapixel comes only when standard (4:3) size is selected. Please see into this.
Gmail, Maps, Hangouts and latest version of Google Keyboard with meterial design - isnt getting installed, anybody else facing this issue.If i try installing these apps from the playstore, then i get an error, "UNknown error code during application installation: "-24"
And in the notification area, is there any way, to remove 'S Finder' 'Quick connect' and brightness slider from the notification area. It looks too much occupied

Thanks for the responses, i found an exposed module Wanam Exposed which is for TW roms and this has the option to remove those buttons.
It works, but then the button comes up agn after some time, anyways thts fine. Not a major issue.
For problem with those Google apps installation, Its not the playstore issue, I had titanium backups of these apps, even those cannot be installed. I even tried side loading the apk's, tht too doesnt work. And I used an app, 'AppExtractor' to extract these apps from my latest Nandroid backup before flashing this ROM, still it didnt work.
I faced few more issues in this ROM as below (hope u don't mind, but anyways the ROM is good
1) Sometimes the ringer volumes turn off by themselves, nothing is changed in Settings but, the ringer sound turns off.No notification tone or ringtone is played. As my phone is not always on vibration, i missed few calls due to this.... tht was fine, worst was it didnt play the alarm and I got late for office :crying::crying::crying:
2) There seems to be some problem with the launcher. After every reboot, some of the icons I placed on homescreens disappear. I customized the listings in app drawer, that too goes away, even the folders go away Also, many times the launcher stops responding.
3) Some issues with the lockscreen as well. Many times it gets stuck and in such sictuation, i Have to reboot the device
4) not sure how superuser is implemented. Could be the way u hav implemented is a better way, as m nt a developer. But There's no superuser app and every app tht needs SU access, when opened waits for root access and automatically gains those root permissions without me confirming tht. This seems to be a major security concern as there may b some malicious app getting SU rights. If there was a SU App, thn it would ask for permission and also i cn control and review which apps hav SU rights
First thing the ROM is awesome
Its a very reliable and consists of less bugs
Bugs: focusing of camera is bit bad
Proximity sensor a bit problem while attending call, opens up time and Date setting
Sound for lock screen comes q bit later
Google now didn't work , will try again and let uknow
Another thing system ui has stopped happens a lot even with the fix u mentioned
Good in ram usage and games work fine rather awesome

[MOD][S6][DPI][CAMERA] Fix for Samsung Camera app on other device DPI

Do you want to claim your screen real estate but do you also want to use the Stock Camera App?
What does this MOD do?
This MOD sizes the Stock Camera App to the entire screen in the supported dpi settings (see supported dpi settings below). The MOD is available for both the stock app and the version modded by amk19 (please thank him, his mod is sweet!).
What's the problem?
If you try to change your device DPI from the default 640dpi to say 540dpi or 480dpi, your camera app will be broken and look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This MOD will make the camera app fit your screen and work properly again!
What doesn't this MOD do?
Anything else. This MOD is solely created to support the camera functionality on DPI's other than stock 640dpi.
Known issues?
The 'Slow- and fast-motion video player and editor' has not yet been addressed. As such you can create slow- and fast-motion captures, but not watch/edit them on your device.
The white borders around the effects options and the preview button that takes you to the gallery are a little too small for their contents.
Supported DPI settings?
540 dpi
520 dpi
480 dpi
Sadly, due to the way the app is set-up, specific versions have to be created for each DPI setting. Is your flavor not available? Please mention your preferred dpi setting in the comments!
On which devices has this MOD been reported to work?
Galaxy S6 Edge International (SM925F)
Galaxy S6 International (SM-G920I)
If you have tested the MOD on an unlisted device and it works, please add a comment so the list can be expanded!
How to install?
Have a rooted phone
Make a backup! (better safe than sorry)
Pick the version of your choosing (see below) and download the corresponding zip file
Extract the apk file from the zip file
Copy the apk file to your phone
You can make a specific backup of all content inside the /system/app/SamsungCamera4/ folder for easy restoration
Using a mobile file browser like root explorer, copy the apk file to /system/app/SamsungCamera4/ and overwrite the existing file
Change permissions of the copied apk file to 0644 (see screenshot below)
remove the arm64 folder if there is any [UNTESTED, please confirm this works]
(Hot)Reboot your phone
Done!
If you want to install the amk19 version, please note that the 'media_profiles.xml' file is not included here. You will have to follow the install instructions provided by amk19 and replace his apk with this one.
Bla bla bla?
I have been really annoyed by the fact that the Camera didn't support much more useful DPI's, and saw an opportunity to do something back to this community, which has helped me and provided ROMs and goodies ever since I switched to android with my Galaxy Nexus. So thank you for that!
I'm providing this MOD as is, without any guarantees. I am not responsible nor liable for any kind of damage resulting from anything related to this post, etc. etc. etc. By using any of these files, you agree to be fully aware of what you're doing and to take full responsibility if anything goes awry.
Versions?
SamsungCamera4_orig_<x> - The Stock Camera App* modified to work with <x>dpi
SamsungCamera4_amk19_<x> - The Stock Camera App as modded by amk19, modified to work with <x>dpi
* The Stock Camera App used is the one included in the current ROM I'm on (XtreStoLite_G92xF-I-T-W8_DeodexedModEdition_v.1.4a_DVU1BOE3, which i really like so far).
Bugs?
Please add a comment or send me a message if you find anything amiss and I will see if and when I can help you out. For me to be able to help you please include the following information:
Which device version do you have?
Which ROM are you on?
Does the app force close or have some other malfunction?
Have you removed the arm64 folder if it was present inside the SamsungCamera4 folder?
Anything else you could mention that might help narrow down the problem?
If you used amk19's version, some additional questions:
Did you have amk19's mod installed before, and did it work?
Did you follow amk19's instructions when installing (specifically in regard to the media_profiles.xml part)?
Have you tried the orig version and did that give the same result?
Screenshots?
The following screenshots are taken on my phone at 540 DPI.
Enjoy!

Hi Lilmikey201,
The MOD solves an issue that occurs when you change the DPI setting of your device to something other than 640dpi (through build.prop editing). When changed to a lower number (for smaller UI elements and thus more room on your screen) the camera app malfunctions (buttons don't work properly anymore) and the app only takes up a part of your screen (see the screenshot I just added to the new "What's the problem?" section of my post).
So if you would want to change your DPI to 540 or 480dpi (I can support other dpi's on request) and still have the stock camera app in working order, you need this MOD.
I hope that answers your questions!
Cheers,
Bane.

Cheers,
Bane.

ohhhhh gotcha,thanks for the clear up. so changing the dpi would change like the on screen camera buttons making them smaller ect. so u can see more of the screen?

that sucks. I have been using the Google Camera being that it will work full screen. I also have issues with the Dialer not working in alternate DPI.

Well, just root your phone? I've also fixed the keyboard and will have a go at the dialer next.

in the past i have rooted every phone i have owned however, for some reason i am holding off on this. I have had my Edge replaced 3 times already (due to factory defects each time) and if i root it i fear if something happens again i wont get a new phone.
Thanks SO much for altering DPI on these, this is exactly what I was waiting for. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on the AT&T variant. If at all possible, could you alter this version for 540?

Tried the amk version for 480, on the 925T and it doesn't work.

I see in your zip that you have an arm folder. Haven't had to deal with that situation yet. Could you please try to remove the arm folder as well? If that doesn't work I'll look into creating a specific version for the AT&T device.

Could you please elaborate?
Does it give a force close or some other malfunction?
Do you have an arm64 folder with odex files inside the SamsungCamera4 folder (and have you tried removing it)?
Did you have amk19's mod installed before, and did it work?
Did you follow amk19's instructions when installing (specifically in regard to the media_profiles.xml part)?
Anything else you could mention that might help narrow down the problem?
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion! I moved the APK without the arm folder and I just get an instant FC now - before the app would just open and close with no message.
I'm not sure whats going on.. tried playing with permissions, etc, but still nothing.
Sorry if im out of subject but can u make the dialer and thr samsung keyboard? too?

I hear there are actually apps for it in the app store (probably by searching dpi, didn't check). I like to do it myself by editing build.prop. In order to do that:
Get a file browser like root explorer in the appstore if you don't have one already.
Navigate to /system/.
Edit the build.prop file (long press on the file and select 'Open in text editor' in root explorer).
Find the first occurrence of 'so.sf.lcd_density=640'.
Change 640 to the density you want.
Save the file and exit (in root explorer this option is in the menu).
Reboot your device.

Same here, sometimes some weird things happen on B156 like a temporary lag. The black screen only happens to me when double tap to wake is enabled. Acer, have fun at MWC. I'm looking forward to seeing the new phones coming out.

I'm Happy that you love my rom. For multiwindows long press on square softkeys (on right) and you see more app to use with multiwindows. To add other app
1 decompress zip file on pc
2 go to cust/all/cn/xml/multiwindow_whitelist_apps
3 open with notepad++
4 for system app edit/add lines like this
<mw_app package_name="com.google.android.apps.maps" default_visibility="1"/>
5. for non system app (app that you downloda from playstore) add this
<mw_nonsystem_app package_name="com.spotify.music" />
6. save new xml with same name
7. rezip directory
8. reflash rom
9. more important share your work here
If you have time, could you look into the "call not sent" bug that occurrs when Google voice is enabled for all calls? This ocurrs on all Huawei ROMs. I think it's a timing issue. If you select "Ask Every Time" you get the popup and then it works. It also worked the first time I made a call, even though I did have "Use for all calls" selected, because there was the permissions popup. I think the telecom isn't waiting long enough for Google voice to process the routing

wow thank you bro for your help
yea i love your rom it is fantastic and super smooth
Any one else having an issue with Chrome becoming unresponsive? I tried wiping it's data, didn't help.
Also, for the lockscreen, any way to get SoundCloud, Google PM, etc. to show the track playing and controls? Mine doesn't, and I think I have all lockscreen options enabled.
yeah that seems to be a common problem with [email protected] options, same goes for notifications. i think ill go back to B133 with update to B152 international roms...

I second this, same symptom.
Google Calendar is not synchronized?
BlackBerry keyboard no work?
If the kernel encrypted?
