Likely internal fix for proper clocks. hopefully its not a hardware change from TI.
us GSM and VZN owners can finally get 1.5+ OC's that work.

The OMAP4460 in every galaxy nexus runs at 1.5GHz but downclocked to 1.2GHz for battery reason.
I can't understand why they sold us a 1.2GHz phone and now they are selling a 1.5GHz phone, it is really disturbing.

Looks like a may get one afterall.

I am really hoping it's true!

I'm just hoping this means AT&T may be releasing an LTE version as well. They just lit up my market today and I'd love to jump on in.

Galaxy nexus lte coming to sprint

So what? It was pretty much a sure thing eventually. I still think that the E4GT is the better phone. It will get ICS this year, by samsung or the wonderful devs here. It has a better processor that clocks higher with a better GPU. The camera is 8mp vice 5mp and while megapixels arent everything, there is a clear quality difference between the ones I take and the ones my friends Nexus on verizons take.
Yes yes..its a nexus..gets OTA via google. But guess what..even the 'stock' android of a nexus device ends up being heavily modified by users here at xda anyway. So might as well tweak and tinker on a better hardware phone. They might get updates a little faster..but we get those updates soon enought..they DONT get our hardware eventually. lol
1.5GHz dual-core processor. For those keeping count, that's 300MHz more powerful than the 1.2GHz chip in the HSPA+ and VZW models.
^ That seems pretty good to me

when will it be available ...i don't care about camera i want fully working updates in the same year as its released...
I'm keeping my SGS2E4GT until LTE is available in the locations that I work.
Right now I use Wimax in both Denver and St Louis and tether my Laptop, Nook Color, and other devices.
Not switching to an LTE phone until LTE is available in both those places. I don't think I'll be getting the GNex either. By the time Sprint rolls out LTE the Nexus 4 will be out.
Is it time omap or exynos processor?
If it exynos then will buy it in heartbeat

Cant see myself getting excited over a phone that probably won't even come out until June or July and will already be leapfrogged by other phones. I swear I hate the US methods of releasing phones.
First Lte will be in Dallas, Atlanta Houston, and some other cities by mid 2012 so leaking lte galaxy nexus makes sense

I bet is is a TI OMAP. Would make updating easier to keep same chip family as other GNex.
I was expecting the GNex to be released soon on Sprint. That's why I bought a used SGS2E4GT for $250 and still have my upgrade ready to go. I will probably wait until LTE is available near me, however.
I hope this is the Exynos that we originally heard about...even if it isn't, pffft, big deal. I'm already making plans to sell my ET4G if this thing drops any later than March 26th....which would be stupid, but, whatever.
N1 was awesome, NS/4G was awesome...I haven't played with one yet, but, even if it is the OMAP it will be clocked to 1.5ghz and but much closer in performance to our 1.2ghz Exynos......and if its Exynos, holy crap.
...maybe they just needed some time to finish developing the CDMA+LTE Exynos and after all the delays they did what it took to get the first one out the door last year at all....
This news is very meh to me. I had the Galaxy Nexus and returned it after a few weeks. It's a cool phone but the E4GT is much nicer.
I will be selling my Epic Touch, any buyers?
My thoughts exactly

+1,
i agree, by then maybe we'll have a SG3, htc or just around the corner another great phone ...
That actually looks nice. Might be my next phone. We'll see what's out by June.
No point in getting a new phone until we have LTE and sadly Kansas City wasn't on that list. I bet we get it soon though. Somethig about us being the Sprint world headquarters...

Its official! Galaxy Nexus is coming to Sprint & LTE!

It has a faster CPU than its version counterpart.
And its sprint's first lte phone!
This is my next phone.
For two simple reasons.
1: never worry about finding/losing rooting exploits, same with boot loaders.
2: fast updates. I'm not talking about ota's. I'm talking about source release, because when ICS drops on a HTC or Samsung. You can't have custom kernels, which takes a large part out of the experience. Unless the source is dropped along with drivers.
What do yo guys think?
Are you going to jump ship and get this year's annual Nexus or wait... HTC's been awfully quiet recently. Wonder what their planning

I hope this is true cuz I'm getting this phone there's only one phone that I would want over this & its the galaxy s3 which is going to be a monster quad core with 2 gb of ram if Samsung could only have a way to disable TW & give the options of vanilla ics or TW it would be the greatest phone ever it would practically be a galaxy nexus & galaxy s3 all in one device!! Why are you holding off? There is only one nexus a year. And wasn't the nexus one the best phone when it came out? The only thing that touched it closely was the evo. And our nexus s, nothing touched it expect for the gsii (over a year)
Nexuses simply run the smoothest because the most current version of android is made for them.
Gs3 won't come out until 2013
Gs2 is out because no lte.
So for me its the Nexus vs iPhone (isn't it always?)

They used OMAP4460 in the VZW version as Exynos doesn't like LTE at all. That's why the US version of the SGS2 is Snapdragon instead of Exynos. As for the GSM version, I'm guessing because they couldn't be bothered using anything better.

Being a Nexus device, Google likes spreading the love. Nexus One had Snapdragon, Nexus S had Hummingbird, Xoom (not Nexus, but closely supported by Google) had Tegra, GNex has TI. Next up, who knows... But they certainly seem to like broadening the amount of chipsets they support more than they're focusing on raw performance.
Here sprint has some serious data issues. So bad tha AT&T is faster on edge much of the time. They could release a 2ghz version and i still wouldn't go back to them. I'm sure that it is likely worse now with the iphone.

Just to set your story straight....
The SoC is rated for UP to 1.5 GHz. This doesn't mean that our chips are in fact rated for operation at 1.5 GHz. Take some time and search the dev threads about this. It's a pretty big misconception regarding the 4460. Not all 4460's are in fact the same (apparently). Did Samsung/Google underclock these chips? Slightly, but as you will see, these chips will not in fact (generally) hit clockrates higher than 1.4 GHz. The general thought is that there is an issue with the clock generator for 1.5 GHz and higher, which causes the problem.
The GN for Sprint will have the same problems, and will probably be a PR nightmare now.....especially when users find out that their GN only runs at 1.2 GHz.
Sprint version probably has different SoC.

How is that old technology. I would say its cutting edge. There is only one phone out that uses a quad core and its a Tegra 3 not a Exynos. Exynos is supposed to be way more powerful. Also since Nvidia and qualcomm had a falling out ( from my understanding ) its not even available in the US. Quad core with 20% lower power consumption, bigger HD screen and 12 mp camera alone makes me want it bad.
Im super excited for this! I dont think the next nexus will be all that to be honest. The Nexus has never really stood for groundbreaking technology and if Sammy makes it your probably looking at the chip that will be in it lol. The benchmarks on the S3 look amazing thoughleaps and bounds better than anything out their currently. And we still dont know the GPU yet. I think so far its pretty much demolished my chance at getting the evo 4g lte. Unless they do something crazy like throw an S4 in the Sprint version.

Because an A9 chip doesn't mean crap, it's old tech. And the Mali400 was already old with the S2 came out, why the heck are they using it again. It's not going to perform much differently than this phone aside from some big HD games, the only difference youre looking at is probably some sharper pictures and a nicer screen.
Well, it comes down to this....
Samsung quad core(older technology doubled)(like a nice 1988 Iroc Z28)
HTC dual core(new tech)(like a finely tuned Audi A3 turbo)
Motorola Tegra 3(a new Mustang....not a cobra)
Where is the Ferrari?(Quad Core Krait)
I am on the fence. I bet HTC drains slower. Motorola might have one huge battery(3300). Samsung has a better screen and pictures.

I am curious about the performance of E4gT vs sgh-i957

Ok, I have been given a sgh-i957 Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE on AT&T for work and it's Nvidia Tegra 2 or Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual-core at 1.5 GHz with Honeycomb and TouchWiz is ungodly laggy and slow. First off, I know I am comparing a tablet to a phone but I am curious how the S4gT with current release and its 1.2 GHz Samsung Exynos C210 dual-core compares. I am very worried it is just the in-efficiency of Android and I am wondering if I should wait for a quad core phone like the LG Optimus G. Or if the versions of the Operating Systems are to blame. I know most of us here have customized one way or another but I am hoping someone can remember how it was before they made their device awesome. The Wimax vs. LTE issue doesn't bother me because even though Sprint swears they have LTE here in Houston a lot of people are reporting their LTE phone's are on 3g more. This will help me determine if I sign a contract today for a new phone or wait until the LG Optimus G comes out. On a side note I can do nothing custom to the work supplied tablet, LOL.
The Exynos SoC in the S2's is very fast and the Mali graphics are generally equal to that in the USA S3's. This phone shows little to no lag in any situation that I've found.

The OG i9100 and the i777 might have a word with you as they also have the same chip set as us but also includes NFC. But typically it's pretty much acknowledged that the GS2 roflstomped all the competition last year upon its release in terms of raw power. Other manufacturers came close to it though with 720p displays and sped up S3 soc's.
The reign of the GS2 only truly ended upon the release of the HTC 1x with it's S4 / Tegra 3 which was last april. So in essence. The S2 ruled the landscape for almost a year and was in a completely different class of performance. The Tegra 2 / S3 were far behind the 4210.

Sgs3 has better low light performance, less shutter lag, and it works overall a lot better. Not to say the s2 has a bad camera, it's amazing. Just not quite where the s3 is. You were asking about the gnex versus the s2? Obviously a
being a nexus the gnex gets better software updates, but speed wise it's a joke. Worse processor. Worse gpu, terrible camera, terrible battery life, pentile screen, etc etc. However if I had a choice I would STILL go with the gnex because I really do value software that much

The E4GT is very smooth and not laggy, unlike the Galaxy 8.9 Tab. I used that Tablet several times when working on it for my friend and its lagginess and slow responses were really irritating.
