Using my Desire with no SIM card, remove lock screen indication - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm running latest Runnymede port 4.0.3 by Sebastian. How can I shut that "NO SIM INSERTED" nag in lock screen? Tried in Rcmix settings as proposed but no luck, radio turns down but screen stays and upon reboot radio is on again. Maybe something I can modify in build.prop? Thanks for any help.

Desire will show upload arrow but nothing downloading ?

Hi all,
Since today my desire will show the uploading arrow flashing as if it is using data but the download one never shows any activity and no apps or internet pages will load. The app market says it cannot connect as if the mobile internet was turned off. My WiFi works fine but my mob data does not. Any ideas what the problem may be?

i had this problem with a de branded (with froyo 2.2 .ruu download) orange handset could not get it to work spent 2 hrs talking to orange about the problem no reason given or found, if i did reset then go into recovery console but do nothing for a while then battery pull it would come back for an undefined period of time phone ended up in a bowl of water orange care are replacing it
Thanks for the advice mate but I don't have the luxury of a replacement handset as I bought the phone off the net and stuck my own sim in it. Mine is a de branded Vodafone running 2.2 froyo Rom. Any other ideas that might help me cure this problem?

Quick update: the data seems to work ok on a g signal and the download problems seem to be just with the h signal downloads

Are you certain that it isn't a network problem?

This is what it is sounding like to me.
Phone, Vodafone and have them check their side? (Also, how old is your sim card?)
My sim card is about a year old now. Do you think I should be checking it out and possibly getting a new one?

I seriously doubt your SIM card is to blame if it was working ok previously.
One thought that does occur to me is are you regularly using MMS? If so, do you have a separate APN for MMS set up?
I'm just wondering if perhaps your phone is trying to send an MMS and continually failing.

Dave
i didn't mean put it in water i just said that's what happened to mine so i couldn't get it sorted and looked like it would have been sent back

Phone rebooting and switching off with sense roms?

Hello,
I usually switch between Leedroid and AuraxTSense roms and they have been quite stable until the last few roms i have tried.....
Recently when i am listening to MP3s the phone either reboots or freezes and for the last two days using AuraxTSense rom my phone has switched itself off through the night and i need to remove the battery to start up....sometimes it will reboot while sitting there.
I also have a MIUI rom which i have been using and it works great with none of these problems.
Anybody got any idea to what is happening?
Cheers.
It's a problem with all desires. Look at the general section. They all start rebooting eventually due to a faulty motherboard. You need to send it to HTC for repair.

I didn't know that.
So i will need to unroot and will probably be sent back one of the newer phones without the Amoled screen?
I have UK T-Mobile contract....can anyone point me to where i can unroot my phone please?
Appreciate it.
Thanks for the reply
If you look on the den sections there is a list of ruus run the t mobile one with HTC sync installed. Should unroot. Call HTC they dont replace the phone only the motherboard.

Hey,
I've had that issue myself.
Do yourself a favour, take it back to your carrier / wherever you got it. The bottom line is the mainboard needs replacing.
After trying countless ROM's, Radio versions and different navigation software, I gave up and took it in.
First my carrier reflashed the same RUU and gave it back to me. That didn't help. I took it back and they sent it to our local HTC rep's in SA, which then replaced the mainboard.
Don't waste your time on trying different things. Take it back, you'll be saving yourself countless hours of pain and disappointment in the longrun.
Dear mr norris,
Thanz for advise... iwill send it back, tq

Desire losing mobile network connection and will not turn back on.

I'm having a problem with an HTC Desire from Australia being used in the US on AT&T.
My father had this phone for a very long time. Since stock suited his needs for so long, I never bothered to S-OFF. Recently he was running out of space on his phone. I got S-OFF, flashed Supernova Rom and partitioned his SD card with 4ext Recovery, giving him 1.36GB to play with. Everything seemed to go fine until 3 days after the Rom upgrade.
His phone's mobile network keeps turning off and staying off. When I go to the quick settings tab, in an attempt to reset the mobile network, it doesn't allow me to turn it back on nor off. It's like the option is disabled. The only way to reset the network is by going in and out of airplane mode, but after time, even that one becomes disabled. The only way to reset from that point is by a full reboot.
I was getting com.andoid.phone force closing on me but I have fixed that by uninstalling facebook. I have tried 5 different radios so far and each one has the same problem. Works for 15 minutes to an hour then shuts off the mobile network. Leaves nothing but an X and no bars and never reconnects on it's own.
If anyone has any idea how to fix this, please fill me in. I don't know what I should try next.
Maybe its not software issue but hardware? Try to backup actual ROM(e.g. using Recovery) and install official 2.3 HTC Sense and find out if problem still exist.

Thanks. Will give it a shot. I'll check back in with results.
Go to settings/wireless and networks/mobile networks and check if you have access point names configured. I'm pretty sure that the upgrade deleted them and if it's like that do a fresh install.

If you need to restart connections you may not need to reboot. There is a utility in Play store called Restart Connections which does a reset of your connections. It works for me when I am in a low signal area and phone gives up after sometime.

[Q] Strange SIM problem... Help!

Hi all,
I have a Wildfire S (GSM, Europe) with SIM from one of the Serbian carriers, Telenor Serbia. Phone is rooted (unlocked, S-ON), and my favourite pastime in the last several weeks is trying out all possible ROMs I can put my fingers on. At the moment I'm using Cyanogen 9 alpha (9.1.0-cryptomilk) and I'm very satisfied, camera recording doesn't work, but I hardly ever used it and everything else does work so I'm fine I guess.
Last night, I've tried AOKP ROM from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985437
After flashing, radio stopped working, no signal from carrier. I thought, bad rom, whatever, and did nandroid restore to my Cyanogen 9. Radio remained dead.
System settings -> About Phone -> Status shows network as disconnected and unknown, but IMEI and phone number are visible.
I've removed this SIM from phone and tried using another SIM, same carrier, and it worked perfectly. Also tried putting original SIM in other phone, same carrier, and same thing happened with other phone (some ancient Nokia), radio dead, SIM info readable.
Guess this isn't a radio problem since other SIM card worked well with it (and phone was S-ON all the time, not sure, but I'm guessing that this should prevent manual radio updates, please correct me if I'm wrong). SIM doesn't work in other phones, so my guess is that I've somehow managed to fry it during AOKP ROM flashing or first run. Is this possible at all?
All clues I've seen so far mentioned formatting some SIM internals using some raw Android block devices, reading on...
Please help
SIM replaced for free by carrier, but I'm curious how this happened...
