MHL to HDMI adaptor cable - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

Hello all,
Today I was excited to find a cable that I'd ordered last week from Hong Kong on ebay had arrived.
Micro USB MHL to HDMI Cable Adapter HDTV For Samsung Galaxy S2
Well if it works on the S2 then it probably works on the Note. Well I plugged an HDMI cable into my Dell 1920 x 1200 monitor, that cable into the adapter and then a micro USB power cable into the micro USB power socket of the device.
Doesn't work
Hmm. Its a pretty simple device. Well I tried swapping micro USB cables in case it works differently with MHL or non MHL cables. Still does nothing. Damn.
Maybe it requires particular software to drive the video. Well no joy yet. If anyone has some suggestions then I'm happy to hear them. It was pretty cheap. But I wish it worked...
In case you were thinking of getting one of these. Here is the one that I bought.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/140672291111?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1020wt_1141

Are you aware that it needs power? In your case, your device needs to be connected to computer usb (as it said in item description)

my try as power source an other mirco usb cabel and use the AC - usb adapter

Cable can't too long.
Sent from Taiwan.

I have a similar one to that from China or somewhere and works great, do need to plug in your mains charger for it to work though. Only issue I had was you I needed to screen fit on my telly because it wasn't fitting properly but after I ran that it fit to te screenproperly.

Good news that MHL is working on the note, especially after the news of the Pioneer AppRadio 2.

I wasn't clear enough in what I wrote. I plugged in the micro USB power cable into the devices micro USB power socket just like in that picture, so yes I gave that a go but still didn't work

I bought a Menotek brand adapter off Amazon, and it works great for me. My TV luckily had a USB port (for firmware updates), and it powered the device just fine.

i bought one off ebay and according to the seller it is the original one
it works great
but you need to turn off the data (3g) because it causes disconnects on the lcd

i have this and is working fine also. It's working even with an optical mouse...cool!
I had a bit of a hard time finding one in the US. I just ordered a micro usb cable and a female to female connector. I think it was under $2(US) total.
has anyone tried connecting external 500 gig hard drive to the galaxy s 2?

I have the adapter cable but does not work for GS2 but on the HTC HD2 its work.
Why does not work, does not show me any sign that the cable connected. Does it have to be some special cable?

I have, it doesn't work unless you have a external power supply for the hard drive. the phone can't supply enough power to it.

[Q] 3-Pin Vehicle Dock from Google Play (GSM) don't charge anymore

Hi, I have a Galaxy Nexus (GSM) ordered from Google Play with all it's accessories (HDMI Desktop Dock and 3-Pin Vehicle Dock).
I've used the 3-Pin Vehicle Dock with my Nexus without any problems for 5 days but suddenly it stopped to charge my phone and doesn't work anymore, my phone can't even identify the dock.
I did a few tests:
Tested it with another car [not working]
Tested connecting the micro USB charger from the Vehicle Dock directly to the phone [not working]
Tested my HTC micro USB charger with the Vehicle Dock [not working]
(I know the output from the original charger is different, may this can be the reason)
Tested my HTC micro USB charger directly to the phone [working]
I noticed the fact that the micro USB connector from the Vehicle Dock only have 4 contacts, as can be seen in this picture: http://imm.io/D9C0

Is that correct? Anyone have a official Vehicle Dock bought from Google Play and can take a look on it?
If anyone have another suggestion it would be great too.
Many thanks!
It should work with the desktop charger I believe. I tested it like this before I put it in my car. Also for my car dock I never used the official charger as I didn't like the cable sticking out. Instead I used a standard micro usb to usb cable and ebay 1A usb car charger behind the dashboard so all the wires were hidden.
This suggests to me it should work for you with the normal charger.
What I would expect you to have is either situation 2 or 3 of your suggestions to work, otherwise both the charger and dock would appear to be broken which seems unlikely. Can you double check?

Well, I used a HTC micro USB charger with 2A output, not 1A as expected by the dock, and with the normal charger it's working, so there's nothing wrong with the dock itself, probably the charger is broken.

I think it's a good option since my dock is working and I didn't like all the wires too. Do you recommend any specific item from ebay?
Thank you for your help!

MHL cables with no micro-usb?

I'm looking to buy a MHL cable, so I've been browsing ebay.
I found this one which is nice because its length (4 meters, 13 ft) allows me to be on the couch while having full access to the phone.

The problem is, my TV doesn't has an USB port, and I don't see any micro-USB female port on that cable.
Am I buying a crippled/broken cable or am I missing something here?
I've seen other MHL cables (3 meters, 10 ft), which look like they have a female micro-USB port (for connecting either the power or the USB cable)... the problem is that they ship from Hong Kong... which takes a whole month to arrive!
1 for phone (micro-USB male), 1 for power/charging (USB Male) and 1 for HDMI port in TV.
I bought this cable and it works perfectly. So I have near TV laptop with USB
HDMI to RCA
Guys will this cable work?

That's rigth, the MHL cable needs a power connection, in this case is using the USB connection to do that, the MHL Samsung Original cable needs to connect the AC Adapter or USB cable to works.
You has to have a PC near to connect maybe.
it is simple, really. mhl needs a connected charger.
the cable suggested in the OP seems to be layout to use a tv's usb port, so the power supply will be at the end which also has the hdmi port.
the regular mhl cables, like the samsung original one, are just an 8" cable with required power supply via micro usb (female) at the end of the phone. pro: it also comes with a female hdmi port, so you can vary the length of the cable to match your usage profile, while the other one is fairly hard to extend.
either way, you will need a power supply, either on the side of the phone, or near the tv.
PS: have you thought about using an AC usb power connector for the power supply of the cable in post #1. these are fairly common, cost no more than 1$, and i assume, there is a power outlet near your tv.

Powered USB OTG adapter

Has anyone come across a USB OTG adapter that can also be used to charge the Note 10.1? I wouldn't want it to require power, but if there were an optional ability to plug the power cable into the USB adapter, it would allow charging and use of the USB device at the same time...

OP, you can charge the GN 10.1 while using OTG cables if you have the special Samsung dock for the GN 10.1, which is expensive and hard to find right now; this special dock has an additional 30 PIN connector in the back into which you can plugh OTG cables.

Where does the charger connect here?
This is just a stand. There is no usb or mhl port here.
That's a shame
Thanks, guys...
I just order the Juiced OTG.
The reviews on Amazon say it works with the Note 10.1 and there are a few YouTube videos of people using it with their Note 10.1. You have to use a micro USB cable and not the Samsung USB cable to charge it.
Oh, I like that. Thanks! Just ordered one from Amazon UK. Looks identical, £1.39 delivered. I have no idea how they can possibly sell it so cheaply but since amazon is underwriting it I guess I can't lose... Amazing!

The best option would be to get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and allshare. This way you can have the Note plugged while using all the rest. And when you want to use a usb you unplug it and then plug it again. This is what I do. It is quite expensive to get all the above but at least they work.
The Ekit is the identical item of the Juiced USB OTG
Amazon UK sell them here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/eKit-Connection-Compatible-Galaxy-10-1/dp/B006LWAR9U
I've got one out for dispatch.

Compatible Micro USB Cables for the Swift

Hi everyone.
As you have probably realised, the USB port on the swift is slightly deeper than the standard.
I thought it would be useful to start this thread with cables that I have tried and whether they worked.
Asus Nexus 7 2012 Micro USB cable, works perfectly, this port is also a little recessed.
Anker Braided, fits fine but doesn't have the same hold on the port as the original or the N7. But better than most.
Aukey Micro USB, these are cheap and fit like the original WileyFox cable. I hadn't heard of them before, image below to help interested parties find them.

OnePlus Micro USB cable, I figured it was the same as the WileyFox cable as visually similar design, I had one from my old OnePlus One, it is not the same reach though.
In short, I think any 8mm cable will do the trick, share any others that you have found below.
I use RAVpower 5 pack. It fits perfectly and I have 5 different lengths.

Hey
When my swift cable broke I switched to a Lumia 520 USB cable. That cable has a nice hold to the swift.
The cable provided with my girlfriend's RavPower external battery is a perfect fit.
@silasnicholls , could you post a link for the 5 pack?

This is UK and very cheap.
Thank you, @silasnicholls !
my Sony USB from my last phone (Experia Miro) works fine, the one for mt Sony RX-100 is touch and go as it's a little shorter.
I've not had any issues with USB's for phones so far
from a mech eng point of view I'm not a fan of the Wiley USB as a longer male terminal means it's more likely to damage the internals if it gets a whack as it has more leverage, hence I only use the WileyWhite at home. The Miro USB gets used most, plugged into my works PC
Just an update to this; these from Amazon UK are spot on and fit perfectly; https://www.amazon.co.uk/iTALKonlin...4738&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+cable+wileyfox+swift
Anker Cables seem to fit nicely. I got mine bundled with the PowerCore 10000.
Any rubber cables I have such as the one I had for my S2 I just cut off a bit of the end and now the cable fits fine. Although my Oneplus X cable works without any modifications
