Micro USB to HDMI MHL - $6.80 on Monoprice - 01/11 Only - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Saw that these were on sale today for Monoprice, so decided to jump. Not sure if it is useful for anyone else, but wanted to share.
$6.80 today only: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10833&cs_id=1083314&p_id=8675&seq=1&format=2
Passing along in case anyone else has been wanting to check one out or waiting for a sale.
Yes, I know this isn't Epic only, but I usually don't venture outside of that section of XDA, so sharing here for others.

Thanks! I was JUST thinking about what I needed to hook up to my HDTV since HBO Go was just released yesterday. Works great on my E4GT, but I'd much rather show it on my HDTV.
Assuming that works, which I'm not actually sure it will. But only one way to find out...

lol i was about to post this! I bought mine a about 10 minutes ago, at that price i started to buy 2.... $8.51 shipped for me

I got one thanks. Beats $20 I was planning to spend on Amazon.

Just ordered it. Was a tad bit over 8 bucks after taxes shipped to Virginia Beach. Freaking awesome deal!

Great price, but it's one of those doodads i'll buy and use once and once the novelty wears off, sits in my drawer never to be used again. No real need or use really for me.

comes in handy when playing mario kart vs a friend

I can see me using this with Netflix on vacations/road trips, games on my tv and such. I have a 19" LCD tv that fits in my expedition nicely this will come in handy with keeping the kids quiet.

Got mine at this price before noticing this thread
sent from my Galaxy S 2 from Sprint on unnamed 2.0.1

In for one. Was actually going to purchase this the other night but held off, glad I did.

Good stuff!! I've wanted to get one of these but was waiting until the price was right because I wasn't sure how much I would use it.

i'm in for one too, thanks

Got mine in today, I played it with it for about an hour. It works pretty well but sometimes the screen will go black on the TV every now and then. I played DeadSpace and wreckless getaway for about 15 minutes, the phone got really hot, but it looked really good on the TV. If i have any problems watching Netflix using the doohickey Ill add it to this post. Not bad for 8.50.
My 3 year old daughter likes playing fruit roll on the TV, she's trying to touch the TV instead of the phone to make the guy jump haha.

sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

I expected the quality of the images, or games to be better on my TV.
Anyone else not so impressed by the adapter?
Can't beat the price, but was just curious if others are experiencing better quality than myself.

got mine yesterday! im pretty satisfied and it looks great on my tv

Just got my adapter yesterday, but i'm having trouble getting it to work. I tried three different hdmi cables and it seems like there's no input going to the TV. Is there a setting on the phone that i'm suppose to select for this to work? Thanks!

Plug in the power (phone charger into the micro USB on the side of the device), plug the HDMI cable into the adapter, then plug the phone in. That's all.

Mini hdmi cable, where to find??????

I have searched high and low for these hdmi cables for he EVO and have bought a few but once received, they were where still to big, way to big. Has anyone found these cables????? If so can you please tell me where. I think its stupid sprint didn't include one, even a short one would'be done it.
Sent from my Supersonic EVO 4G
they are $30 at sprint's website, you should be able to find cheaper elsewhere online though. i'm waiting for the dock which includes a cable
I too did the same thing searched in amazon for hdmi for evo ordered two cords when i got them they were hdmi to hdmi mini what you need to search is hdmi to hdmi micro.. spent my last couple dollars on the wrong cords.. really only wanted the cords to play psx on my tv turns out it only work on a few selected apps so i wont be purchasing until it works for majority of phone functions
looks like you're looking for the wrong cable. its MICRO not mini. Get a type D(micro) to type A(regular) male cable
Yeah I guess that was my mistake, I didn't know there was a micro. And as for running the psx emu onto the tv, that would be AWESOME! Even just playing the regular Android games Thank you all for your help.

Most Sprint Store's carry them if you don't mind paying around $30.00 for them. I was told all of them carry have them if they can keep them in stock, but i dont know how true that is. That's where i got mine.
I bought 2 off of ebay for like 6 bux each, they work perfectly.
Monoprice will have them in stock on the 13th for 2 or 3 dollars. You are retarded if you pay thirty dollars for that cable.

I bought one of those $6 cables on ebay but it didn't work. I thought my port was bad but I bought one of the molex cables here

and it works perfectly, so +1 for these guys.
I just ordered 2 of the $6 ones Now I just hope more apps get support for the hdmi out so I can play some of the games and emus on my big screen

Sorry, but that is ridiculous that that is 20 dollars. You can find one of those Bluetooth gamepads for that much, though I realize it can't be used with actual xoom games that use an onscreen d-pad.
If you could use this on a game like PewPew.... Id be in...

definitely interested in a full review of this with the Xoom.

I have 2 of them so I might be willing to let one of them go . Also notice the Evo3D I acquired for my fiancee, which she claims is better than the S2... lol, this thing is like a good 4.5 feet tall. I love it!
Just thought I would share my nerdiness and awesome decor with all you here on XDA, geek on!

very cool. still enjoying the ps2 i see, i still do to every once in a while. what game is that in the last pic?
I love my PS2, It is Burnout Revenge. My fiancee has never played console games and while I was in the service I kinda let my gaming fall by the wayside so it is all we own (for now... still trying to convince her we have to have a PS3 to do our Samsung led tv justice)
Ive got two of those myself.
Would you mind trading one for an EVO 3D? ;D
Clean those cables and everything up lol
That cardboard tv looks realistic....
Haha we are in the process of getting the room moved around and are trying to get my cable organizer back in place, Im going to turn the "screen" on one of these into a white board, I figured it would be cool to have an Epic 4g touch white board for us to write our info on. I also have the topper for the HTC Evo3D and the GS2... HTC's is wood and foam, Samsung's is cardboard and plastic... I still like my GS2 one better
I want one of thse big phones.
It will go great next to my Duke Nukem Forever giant box.
man that's awesome!!
Anyone that wants one of these I just acquired a few more from the other stores, shoot me a PM, if you are in the area you can have one and I would appreciate a donation to the Habitat for Humanity Women helping Women build, if not I will figure out shipping for one, and will let you know how much you need to donate to your local Habitat or equivalent charity, or you can donate to an Autism Awareness charity (ask pftmedic for a suggestion to a good one) and I will send it to you free of charge, as long as you can prove a donation! Thanks for the kind words everyone, I love my big cardboard displays, I have a few of them and I absolutely get a kick out of having them up on the wall or hanging in the garage!
Thanks!
Andy

I didn't notice the size comparison because I was on my phone when I saw the pic. I thought the HTC phone on the wall was an actual phone for size comparison...that cardboard cutout is a hella lot bigger now that I see it. Was that from the big II display in the window?
I actually had a customer come in with an unlocked Note... it is truly the "phablet" that Engadget said it was... Just rediculous in size, but I am sure people have said the same for the Epic 4g Touch, I am looking forward to getting an unlocked international GS2, I can't wait!

You're going to use at&t? I like the size of my E4GT. I wish I could get something a little bigger just for the car. Waze looks puny on the screen compared to a regular GPS.

Using Phone as dashcam in my Mustang. DailyRoads Voyager App

Decided to start using my phone as a dash cam in my car. After doing a little research on apps I found this to be the best of the bunch. DailyRoads Voyager is the name of it. Seems really nice so far. Don't know how useful it will be, but you never know, I don't use my phone while I'm driving if I can help it anyway. Here's a video of some night time driving. I'll grab a video in the day time tomorrow and upload it.
Think I'm gonna upload accidents or anything else out of the ordinary I catch while driving to youtube. If you have any questions or comments feel free to send them my way. It's a little shaky, I'm gonna work on stabilizing the mount tomorrow.
At 3:12 I hit a fox, poor lil guy. Thankfully it didn't mess up my Mustang with only 4k miles on it ;p
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcUO_VgkN6I&feature=plcp
And Here's one in the daytime I took today. No Fox this round
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIh8NcZJrJQ
Adding a couple pics of the car ;p Will be a daytime video of the phone as a cam added when I get off of work tonight.

Updated OP with a daytime video and some pics. If you click CC in the daytime video it shows speed, gps coords, etc. Wish I could get it to display them by default =/
hey what did you use to set up your phone in car to keep it from sliding around? Glad the fox didn't mess up your car would've been a shame. RIP Fox
Yeah wondering the same thing, what type of mount do you have? The videos look great! I've always toyed with the idea of getting a dash cam, this seems like a great way to accomplish that without blowing hundreds on a real dash cam system.

I actually just bought a really cheap mount off of Amazon. The one I am using is:
http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Windshield-INCREDIBLE-BlackBerry-Revolution/dp/B00687N0GK
I hate to say whether it is great or crap yet, because I've only owned it for about a week now. I will say that I stuck the windshield suction cup on the day I got it and it hasn't fell off yet. I'm pretty happy with it so far, if you hit a big bump like railroad tracks or something, it does jump around a little more than I would like, but overall it serves its purpose so far.
thanks paaco
Thanks for sharing, awesome vids..
Great idea. BTW nice Mustang great color choice.
I may have to try this next time I take my fox body to the track, Thanks!

iHome Android Radio / Alarm Clock / Dock

Just thought I would share this. I spotted one of these Saturday @ Bed, Bath and Beyond. It really sparked my intrest, as something us Android fans rarely see the price is decent. I currently have it sitting on my desk @ work next to my monitor with my HTC Sensation on it.
I purchased this for my GS3 that arrives tomorrow, due to the center bottom port.
I will say without a case on it, it has a little lean in it. But nothing bad. I even tried my gf's HTC OG EVO last night and it had a little lean, but charged her phone and was quite sturdy.
Check it out!

Sound quality is great for an alarm clock or desk radio. Do not expect to listen to in multiple rooms.
Don't you have to plug in an AUX cable to utilize the speakers? Not much of a dock if you still have to plug another cord into the phone...
I hope the plug rotates.

Yes, it actually does. They tried to make it a little more universal for the broad amount of Android devices.
As previously stated. It does require the 3.5mm to be plugged in for Audio. I agree, it could have been a better design. But this will replace my need for a $20 Office dock and $20 desk radio. Just thought i would share, as i have never seen one before.
After a little research Phillips makes some also. But are much more pricey.
i've been looking for speakers for my bedroom for a while now. i want wifi, though. no cables or docking.
I cant believe there isnt much intrest for this?

The 3.5mm plug requirement kills it for me and for most others is my guess.
It's gotten bad reviews, and the fact that you have 2 wires coming out of your device is ridiculous. I really want to buy the official Samsung speaker dock, but it's too expensive for what I want.
This one may be worth looking into though: http://www.samsung.com/us/video/home-theater/DA-E570/ZA
Haven't seen any reviews for it yet though. But it comes with an S3 dock and an iPhone dock built in and connects to audio via bluetooth.
Agreed. But that option doesnt have an alarm clock or radio. O well. Im actually pretty happy with mine. Regardless of the addtional 3.5mm needed. It works great. To each their own.
I'm not a big fan of having to plug in the audio jack as well, I'm looking at possibly getting the bluetooth Philips alarm clock
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Philips...87&skuId=3044077&st=philips alarm&cp=1&lp=12
A lot of complaints are about the app but you can use your alarm on the phone and connect via bluetooth and it comes through the clock from what I've read. A bit more expensive
