DianXin-OS on Samsung epic touch possible? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So while I just read about this new ROM, and while I also read that it's literally only three weeks old I'm sure not that many people have heard or seen it.It looks pretty cool and while most of the devs have there hands full between ICS , CM9, Miui I don't think anyone could ask for it in the near future.Just figured other people would be interested. Also curious if it would be possible to port it?

EPIC II Dev/Mod Support and Upgrade Outlook input please

I'm preparing for a move from the Samsung Galaxy SII to the Epic2 4G touch.
SG2 has been great. Modifications have been crazy easy and plentiful. Samsung upgrades have been readily available.
I know Sprint has been fairly good with upgrades to the Evo3D.
I've heard there have been issues with Modding and upgrades to the Epic.
With Cyanagens alliance with Sammy, I have hope things will move fast with this device.
I really would like input from the Epic forum on your prediction on
1. The likelihood of the Epic II being rooted readily (like within 30days), and 2. the EPICII getting timely upgrades .
Unfortunately, we Epic users mostly feel like the red-headed step child. It may because we have a keyboard and that makes things more difficult to dev and port.
I won't really get into everything, but overall I wouldn't think there will be as much support for the Epic 2 as other dual core phones.
Thanks for the info.

I would disagree. I think the development and support on the Epic Touch will be way better than what we had on the Epic. The Epic suffered because of the keyboard which made porting difficult, also because of it's release time being too close to that of the Evo, yet far enough away where people who got the Evo right away couldn't get the Epic because of the 30day rule. I would never use the smaller size of the Epic community to judge what the Touch community will be like.

I totally agree. Its a huge seller internationally. I was on a thread with 2 million views and over 1400 pages. I think this will be a popular phone. It does come with 2.3.4 stock and an 1800 battery intead of the international's 1650...and a bigger screen. The Epic is kind of a niche phone. There aren't a whole lot of physical keyboard phones anymore. Don't get me wrong...my Epic has been very good to me. I would like to see a developer roll call thread to see what device they planned on getting though

The Bottom line is which phones will the Devs buy and upgrade to? They will develop for the phone they have. Unfortunately they don't have access to all the phones that come out. So the real question needs to be asked of your favorite DEV as to which phone they may upgrade to.

Im part of era and I'm seriously looking at getting it, as well as a couple other team members. Bot saying we are stopping development here, just that we will expand our phone coverages.

I plan on switching also. But I plan on waiting a month or two to see how it goes instead of jumping on it at release.

I can put the same exact apps on both phones and put my Epic back on stock if anyone wants any battery,/app comparisons or any other kind of testing. I plan on getting it as soon as the store opens on the 16th

Where are all the devs?

Will this phone end up with terrible development such as with the original epic?

Probably not, these are new age modders who think just because they have a certain device it should come with all bells and whistles that take a good 6 months to develope. Did I mention they want it now!!!

Well, devs are staying behind because we are all starting to see how the game is going. Too many Android phones are coming out at once and money ain't coming any faster. I'm sure if people paid devs to come dev for the device, we'd have more devs...so if you want to pay for someone's E4GT, go right on ahead. If you don't want to, just wait it out. This phone is already pretty sweet and the problems we do have, a dev probably won't be able to fix those..so..yeah.
This phone is sick dude, just enjoy it and be happy that you don't own a device where you have to depend on the devs just to be able to get through the day.
Having it from release date, the OG Epic did NOT have terrible development. Just not the development some people wanted. And there were "some" people who were ungrateful and rude, like with any device. This one already has great developers, and we are slowly getting more. Be patient.

The Epic scene was pretty good. A lot of people came from that Evo...smh, the Evo messed the whole game up if ya ask me. Now people willl sit around and say their phone is garbage if it doesn't have the same dev scene that the Evo had.
Little do most people know that the Evo was damn near the same device as the Desire, N1 and Dinc. So most of the reason why its scene was so great was because a dev from any one of those phones could just port their roms over and all they had to do was swap out the hardware files and the kernel. Other than those 2 things, everything was damn near exactly the same.
Yeah I think we just have to be patience

I've seen a few well known devs from the HTC Evo post here, so I'm pretty optimistic.
Viperboy is coming. That's another developer for you!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
what do we really need here? cyanogen and miui and stock roms. that is asking alot but that would be epic. for now i am loving starburst. love asop but don't remove touchwiz launcher and widgets. just my opinion.
I had the First Epic and the Dev's there were GREAT. We may not have had as many as some phones like the Evo but the ones we had did great work and who needs 100 roms to choose from when the ones we had did the trick. We had some great Roms and Themes and the fixes came pretty fast.
I have not rooted this phone yet mainly because I have not felt the need. The only thing I am missing is WiFi Tether. I am sure when this LOS gets worked out and the devs get their hands on the original source we will see much more. I am grateful for anyone that helps make this phone better, but it is pretty dang good out of the box. The best I have ever had.
Where did u hear that from

Now?? pffft what are you talking about? They want that **** out on launch day! wtf you slacking devs that dont get paid and do this all for free?? Get back in the sweatshop and do work that requires more thinking than a sweatshop worker in china but gets "paid"(donations) less! These devs should worship us and do what we tell them when we tell them! When a phone is released that very day we expect EVERY MOD imaginable, every "bell and whistle" and a choice of at least 10 roms and 10 kernels..

sense is pretty hard to get working on a non HTC phone. I dont think I've ever heard of a sense rom (that fully worked right) ported over to a non htc phone(at least that I know of). It's not impossible(from what I hear) but it is very very very difficult(so I hear)

How the hell

Wow og epic gets cm9 alpha lol.
While we have better hardware all around and no ics leak or cm9 lol.
Samsung should support the flagship better . But i expect strange things from them as far as support. We wont get ics until gnec is released.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
The hardware makes no difference. The Devs on the OG Epic have been working on CM for over a year. Just be patient and we will have a port.
The problem is that people have hounded the devs and they got frustrated.
I didn't read much about it, but im pretty sure its a port and probably wont get an official ICS update. It has nothing to do with Samsung and their top tier phones.
The OG epic devs really worked hard to get to this point ... Im happy for them they really deserve it best community ever !
.... We'll get there soon Patience is the key look how long it took for things to pick up over there for example ...
How the hell...is there another thread about the Epic geting CM9 alpha? You know, it could be because the Epic has been out for a while now, it also could be that the Epic shares strong hardware similarities to the Nexus S which has a fully working ICS. Or...maybe it's because after so many months without CM and MIUI, the Epic owners don't complain about getting updates like the Epic Touch owners. Just my theories...

Its because of threads like this our devs leave or don't care/ wanna share. What happen to being nice and appreciating devs!

Some of the more impatient persons here have sent the devs into the shadows while they secretly work on this beast of a phone. I'm not 100% sure but I don't believe team rouge is some how involved... I'm of course just going off of my own gut feeling
HOLY ****
Seriously???
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
really guys stop making threads like this. This is the reason why we don't have ICS I'm patiently waiting for it too. But, you guys really???
Hey guys. Theres is an Awesome ICS rom being worked on (not me). the party involved in its creation is one of my favorite here on xda. I can 100% promise you that it does exist and that this phone is not being forgotten. Just keep on keepin on and pretty soon you will all be complaining about how many ICS roms there are in the Dev section :] .
I'm on an OG Epic running CM9 right now. The Epic devs are getting so far now because we have source. As soon as the devs over here get proper source and time, the sky is the limit. A dev over there has been working hard on switching the file system over to MTD and got it running just a few weeks ago. That is really a time consuming process. Just have patience.

Will the GS2 for T-Mobile ever get AOSP support??/

So I gave my GS2 to my wife because I was bored with the tired TW Roms that seem to be duplicated over and over again with this device on XDA. I have been out of touch for a few months, so my question is has someone finally perfected a real AOSP rom where everything works? The closest one was the CM7, but it was busted pretty bad. Has there been any developement or is this phone still just waiting for ICS to make it come alive?

Why is jellybam not on this site?

Hey guys, i just got s3, up graded from gs2.
I am not a touch wiz guy so as i was trying to look for what rom was the best for me
i came across this rom jellybam witch is cool as heck!!! But was surprised to not see it here on xda.
I am new so i don't know how the s3 forums work yet. Like what is original development and just development?
Didn't have that with s2. Can someone just give me the 411 on this.. Thanks...
There was drama, and reports of Kangs and what not, and they got banned pretty much... at least I think it was that team that had that happen to them. If you want to use their rom, got for it... they don't have to be on XDA to be usable.

They got perma - banned for using pacman code without giving credit. Like stated, you can google them and go to there website.
Sent from the phalanges of my hand to the facet of your cranium.
I saw their rom 2 days ago on YouTube and flashed it. It was nice and all, but then I found out that they were literally made nonexistent here on XDA. I uninstalled it. My feeling is, if I can't get support for a rom here, I'd rather not use it. Besides, I already have my daily and backup. I wouldn't have kept it long anyway.
But give it a go. It's really nice with more than a few bells & whistles.
