I downloaded a movie via torrent and I cannot for the life of me get it to play. It is in avi. format. I'm not that tech savvy but can this device play this type of file if not can someone name a video converter)

Try this player!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad

https://market.android.com/details?...EsImNvbS5pbmlzb2Z0Lm1lZGlhcGxheWVyLnRyaWFsIl0. is another good choice. i recommend it

from my experience Mx Player works like charm...

Be careful as if the video file is not liked by the phone then the gallery may start miss behaving as it won't be able create a thumbnail.

Strange. AVIs (Xvid) play fine on my Nexus through the native Video Player.
Here's a sample file: http://www.multiupload.com/GML7HC3HHM
They dont play native for me but vplayer handles them nicely
Try mxplayer from the play store

Whats the best media player?

What is the best video and audio player for Nexus7? I have PowerAmp and Vplayer and they are good I'm just wondering whats new and better. Is there an awesome all in one player that plays all videos, movies, music and online video, audio streams and supports all video and audio formats?

XBMC is the daddy
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Either VLC or XBMC, there are beta versions for the N7 floating around which are relatively stable (though I've had problems with force closes in VLC). I don't think either is mature enough yet to replace Poweramp/VPlayer/DicePlayer, but once the bugs are ironed out and releases made official these will be the 'play-everything' apps.
I like Moboplayer, although I'm not sure if it's powerful enough for your needs, but it does everything I need it too.
I like MX.

I've found Diceplayer has the best HW playback. For example its the only one that will play FLV using hardware decoding while the others have to use software.

Epic 4g support 1080p playback?

Hey guys, I sent my girlfriend a 1080p video via dropbox, (she has my old epic) and after downloading it to the sd card it couldn't play the video. Does the Epic just not play things past 720p?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Try mx player it could just be the file type of the video

If mx doesn't work, try mobo player

Yea I was thinking MX player as well. I'll try it, if that doesn't work I'll just record in 720p instead and see if that helps

Your Favorite music player?

Can just be an app from the market or a music player ported from another phone like the song Xperia. Thank you

Now Playing and Apollo are pretty good. Though I haven't used a wide range. Just those 2 and Google's.
I use Google music, it's simple and clean and just works. I'm also subscribed to all access so even more reason to use it almost exclusively.

I used Google Music but being in Canada it was for just my music only and found that the cover art was low res and not changeable. I switched to PlayerPro.

Loved Now Playing and Shuttle+, but now using only Google Music since it's very nice looking and I can stream
Poweramp
Songza is pretty sweet. I use player pro for my own music...also a little off topic I found an app the joe rogan experience to download all his podcasts. ..if you've never heard him they are quite funny and very interesting at times.
