I am currently running the EL26 modem, it works ok. Is there any better modems out there? was looking at the EI22. Not sure I can make the switch. Any help is appreciated.

you sure you are in the right forum? this is an epic 4g forum EL26/EL29 is for the E4GT
Wrong section. Dont flash EI22/EC05/anything for the original Epic. You have an ET4G.

EL* is not for the Epic 4G, but rather the Epic 4G touch (at least that's what I'm being told)...

hello. I saw the benefits of running EXT4 as the file system. Im just not a big fan of custom roms. Is there anyway I can make official leaked dk28 run on EXT4? I know custome roms will do it but Id like dk28 stock.

I believe Dameon and Mammon made kernel changes to allow EXT4 support. I suppose if you flashed dk28 with odin, then flashed CWM3, then one of their modified kernels, it should work. But I don't think Randy's file system tweaks would work on stock dk28, so performance wouldn't be quite as good as Bonsai.

I haven't done it with stock dk28, but when the ext4 conversion first came out over here, I was flashing all kinds of different roms followed by the ext4 kernel so that I could play with them on ext4. Any of the current DK28 based roms should be able to use the ext4 kernel.
Is there a clockwork3 in an update.zip? When I do it manually, the screen locks on the Samsung screen.
I used oden with d18 and d28. Also do the CM7 nightlies work as well as they do on the evo!

As the title suggests, I have no idea what phone I have lol.
Got it through sprint as Galaxy SII. Well I google that and it does NOT look like my phone. My phone looks more like the "Epic 4G Touch". Then I thought that just MAYBE they are the same phone.
BUT
What makes things more confusing is that there are different forums here for each phone, and I am not sure if I should be looking at the Galaxy SII forums OR Epic 4g Touch!?
If you got it from Sprint and its a GS2 ... you're in the right forums

That's actually a very important question to ask if you didn't know. Some Epic Touch users tried flashing a different SGS2's ICS build and got all screwed up

Just wondering: why? It increases inaccuracies as well as confusion among those not rock solid in the community like the rest of us. As well as being 100% incorrect in not abbreviating it correctly. I just don't understand how someone can't look five inches up their screen to see the correct order E4GT.

Well, the only reason I say anything is that it's fairly easy to mistake a SGS2 with a SGS2 E4GT for kernels and you could mess up your phone. So if it's common place to say ET4G where there is already something called the Epic Touch (without the 4G), there might be confusion. I'm just trying to help out and ask why people might be switching them around.

Personally after getting my feet fully into android with this being my first android phone, i think its a good differentiation from other carriers' models of the SGSII. Its much easier to search for Epic Touch, E4GT, ET4G, etc than the other models. I can definitely see where confusion would come from downloading the wrong modem, kernal, etc but I bet it will be worse with the longer names as they try to top this device. Those long names can be truncated, especially when viewing them on the phone.

I just don't like calling it e4gt. I'd rather say et4g. Like saying black cat in English but cat black in Spanish. Negro el gato. Evo touch 4g, nexus s 4g. 4g is usually at the end. To me, saying it the way its "supposed" to be said, sounds awkward or clumsy. Whatever. I gave up correcting people on words, grammar and spelling a long time ago. Its a losing battle and you don't have to think too much to understand what they are saying.

Yep. It's mostly people with terrible English skills.
So I had to switch back to gingerbread after a week or so of running the ics leak. The deal breaker for me was battery life. I absolutely loved being on ics and consider it vastly superior, but, even swapping out batteries (I have 2) it was still too much work. And then theres the failness of showing someone how awesome ics is and then WTF IS KERNEL PANIC UPLOAD MODE... lol. It was a good daily driver but I like when my phone lasts more than 6 hours. I cant wait for a stable ROM to be released! And I congratulate all the devs on your hard work. Guys if it werent for you I would be so much less of a nerd, and for that I salute you.

OP I get kernel panic upload mode at least 3x a day. I'm on fb21 mijjz v1.1 and feel your pain. Howvere battery life has been excellent for me.
