Why can't you wipe, load the RUU and then re-root to get what you want?

try a data wipe, root will persist. assuming you didn't mess too much stuff up you should be back to stock with su
but agreed, something like this would be useful if you messed it up and didn't backup first

Mediafire is down right now ... does anyone have it stored somewhere else?
OP,
Find RMK40's Stock Froyo Rom in the Android Development folder. Wipe all your data and cache.
Done.

[Q] Moving Nandrid backup to another storage device

I flashed CyanogenMod 7.1 few days ago, and before flashing i partitioned my SD card with 1GB ext4 partition. Now that seems was not such good idea, since i have only 4GB SD card, and after installing my GPS software, I have only 80MB free on my fat32 partition.
So the question is, since I have two Nandroid backups on the card each around 270MB, can i simply move at least one of them to my computer for example, and then if I ever needed it, copy it back to the card?
Presuming that this above is possible, is the "clockworkmod\backup" folder the only thing I need to copy?
And just another quickie, is there any way I can resize the partitions without losing anything?

I'm not sure about the contents of other folders, so I'd copy the entire folder to my pc.

Risk of data loss is considerable this way.

Agree in general, but I recommend to wipe everything before restoring backup.

If you have a google account, google will restore your apps during set-up,but not the settings.Like the guy above said,Titanium Backup does the trick.

Thats strange, all i can tell you is update your recovery and you might need to do a full wipe and partition your sd card and start over, make sure you use Darktremors Apps2sd tweak.

You have to backup the apps with titanium backup to restore them u can't just restore apps from a nandroid with it

Nandroid Backup

Hi everyone,
I'm having issues with Nandroid backup and restore.
After flashing ARHD 17.1 from 17.0 without wiping, everytime I make a backup it says that there was an error backing up /system and when I you try to restore it, it says MD5 mismatch.
The latest backup that I was able to use was using the backup before I flashed 17.1.
Is there any way I could fix this without wiping? I'm on a vacation right now and don't have a computer handy.
Hope you can help me out! Thanks and advance happy new year!

Its always advisable to wipe data and cache b4 flashing the old backup or a new rom...its always good and prevents many issues...!!
U need a computer to solve the md5 sum mismatch error....after that if your backup is genuine (without problems) then it ll surely work..just some commands to execute...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Scroll through the first post and you will find the proper commands..!!
Cheers..!!
Thanks! Will try that when I return home from vacation.
I just read from the ARHD forum that you can flash without wiping if coming from another version.
How about my apps and their data? I not really sure if everything's backed up. How can I make sure?

You can backup the apps and their data by using titanium backup from the playstore..! i guess thats your best bet as you dont have computer handy...!! make backup by titanium backup and then upload the backup to some good cloud sharing sites and when your problem gets solved you can restore that backup..!!
:good:

Hmm, if you rename the backup with spaces, you'll get an md5 mismatch during restore, but no idea why you get one during backup.

That's what have heppened to me, MD5 mismatch, but after removing spaces from the name of the backup I was able to restore it.
Where does Nandroid save the backups? I might have to check.
Also, how do I use titanium backup? I don't know what option to select.
Hope you can help me out.

Just go to backup/restore (middle tab)
Then tap on the icon in upper right-hand corner, then you can select e.g. backup all user apps + system data.
Restore in the same manner. :good:
Thanks! So that's how you back things up! I was just running the 2 items under schedule and I'm not sure if that's it.
Thanks again and happy new year!
Cheers!

Are you using CWM? Did you rename the backup folder? If you used spaces while renaming it will give an md5 mismatch.

Create a blank text and rename it to nandroid.md5, the recovery will skip it and everything will be fine

If nandroid manager doesn't work, the only thing I can think of is to try upgrading to CWM 6 and see if it helps. Probably won't work if the backup is hosed though.

This is only a wild shot in the dark but have you tried renaming your nandroid.md5 to nandroid.md5.bak and then creating a new, blank nandroid.md5 like andhikafajarms said a few posts up? Other than that, I think your best bet is just to reinstall the ROM you are trying to restore. It sucks but it may be easier.
