i have a rooted EVO 4g that i rooted usin UNREVOKED FOREVER...tried to install a custom rom from ROM INSTALLER nd it sent my phone to a screen wit a blue robot on a skateboard wit a arrow going in a circular motion wit the label CYNAGON (or somthin like that...im a newb so go easy on me) nd then took me to my recovery screen..i downloaded the OFFICIAL GINGERBREAD UPDATE SUPERSONIC_4...placed in in my sd nd put my sd in my evo nd INSTALL ZIP FROM SD>APPLY /SDCARD/UPDATE.ZIP>YES>this is where the problem is...FINDING UPDATE PAKAGE...OPENING UPDATE PAKAGE...INSTLLING UPDATE...INSTLLATION ABORTED :-( HELP pleez my fone is my lifw
Seems like you got a corrupted file, I would recommend downloading it again, then try re-flashing.
is it because im downloading it on a mac?i tried to download PC36IMG.ZIP and when its done downloading it says DECOMPRESSION FAIL :-(...then i go to thw folder and try to drag and drop evwrything that wus downloaded but all thw files go on my sd except the .ZIP files that i need :-( y is that

Just download it using the firefox browser; safari re compresses the file so it messes up; you should be good to go.

Well I don't use macs, but that sounds right, so it should have downloaded in its natural element, no re-compression.

i use safari on my windows pc and it has never screwed up my rom downloads... its probably just the mac... you might need to buy a new one then another 3 months after then another 3 months after that. thats how mr. jobs likes to keep business, new product right after they release a new product. seriously, how many ipads are out now, and iphone 5 is scheduled to release along with the new tv set running off ios. thats the only thing i got against apple and thats all i need to stay away from apple from now on, since i discovered android, anyways, enough with the ranting... lol, sorry. download rom/ install to root of sd card/ go into recovery/ clear cache, data and dalvik/ choose zip to flash/ flash zip/ reboot/ enjoy!
ok guys...i am so frustrated...i downloaded FIREFOX>DOWNLOADED PC3IMG.ZIP>it doesnt say decompression failed anymore but the icon of my download is a white sheet if paper with a lik corner folded...i try to drag and drop to my sd but it says THE FINDER CANNOT COMPLETE THE OPERATION BECAUSE SOME DATA IN PC36IMG.ZIP CANT BE READ (ERROR CODE -36)...wt f do i doo...i downloaded STUFFIT nd still the same thing...i am in dire need of help:-(

Sounds like you got a bad download. Re-download it from somewhere else.

Which PC36IMG file exactly are you looking for, I may have it.
guys ive had this problem before and it gets me so upset cause i have no clue as to what to do when this happens .i downloaded infected rom and i transfered it to my sdcard mind you it took about a good hour to load .so when i go to flash it reads system /date/gapps .but dont know why.now if i download a rom that has .zip or i guess is zipped i can just transfer it to my sd card and flash it and boom i got the dam rom .but have no clue how to fix this i mean i really want to try this rom out please help guys

when do you see this error? after the phone reboots from flashing or right before the reboot? i've never encountered that particular error before so i might not be much help but i'll try
btw.....you might wanna duck and cover.....you posted in the wrong section so you might see some flaming. just ask a mod to move this to the Q&A section

First off, this is in the wrong forum. You should be posting this in the section for the rom you are trying to flash. Second off, infected rom is not a rom that I am aware of, that is a website that has quite a few roms on it though. Please elaborate what rom you are trying to flash exactly and I will try to help you out.
sorry for posting in the wrong section .i will post from now on in the question and answer portion of this forum and again im sorry about this ,however, the rom i am trying to use is the infected rom / eternity and what im trying to say is i downloaded the rom to my computer i connected my phone and downloaded the rom to my sd card so when i go to flash the rom i see it but i guesss its not zipped ? i click the rom and it tells me data.system meta.inf

Is this the ROM you are referring to? If so you will want to get the ROM from here try re-downloading and try the install again. Also are you using a Mac?

Also, you could always check the md5 sum. Otherwise, I would also suggest redownloading the rom. Are you using amon ra recovery or cwm?
yes that is the rom i am trying to download .i downloaded from the same site and it said decompressing failed twice .and yes i am on a mac

You are most likely using Safari which automatically unzips stuff, you will need to disable that for it to be fixed, open Safari then go to Preferences>General tab>uncheck Open "safe" files after download... And re-download the ROM. The ROMs are supposed to be zipped, happened to me all the time with my Hero back in the day lol.

Should fix it, like I said, Safari automatically unzipping ROMs is bad as they are supposed to be zipped, and the unzipping breaks the files signature.

Nope just files with the .zip extension.
i really hope unchecking this box fixes this ,however,is strange because ive been able to download roms from my mac to my phone so does this make any sense ?

If that doesn't work for you, you could always try downloading directly from your phone and see if that makes the difference. I would have never had that answer though cause I always download from my windows laptop or directly from my phone. Although, I have found RCmix3d to run better on my phone that eternity anyway. I do love virus' work, but he never really finished eternity and is now mostly working on other phones. R46 was just released though, and nobody knows what was changed, so hopefully the issues are fixed. My problem with eternity was that I kept missing text messages, which can't happen for me. Let us know how this goes and I might even try eternity again if the issues are fixed. Good Luck! If not, I suggest either RCmix3d or PrimeXL3d, they are both basically the same as eternity and have both worked better for me at this point

Great, I'm glad bmxrider helped you out on this one. Please do let me know what happens with the new eternity, mainly if your text messages all come through. I know you can use go sms or whatever, but I am not a fan of adding unneccesary apps to my phone really. I like to stay mainly stock with a few games and root apps as needed.

Everything is in it and working fine, I'm sure the only things u would need to do to it can be done thru the phone once it is flashed, or at least using adb??
im trying to change the splash screen to the sony one... the one used on the sony ics roms
I've looked into that, for myself, and it is one of the hardest things u can do, everything has to be EXACTLY right with it all, sizes and hashes, and if its not u will get errors. I gave up in the end, and just put up with the DooMLoRD screen, its not really that offensive is it?? lol.

I also tried changing the splashcreen to one of my choice but in the end I realized that I'll stick to it just to show my gratitude to Doomlord for helping newbies like me to mod my Xplay.

im sticking to the stock kernel boot logo for now... its really not that bad

U cant install anything to ur phone now? did u tick unknown sources under settings->applications

Another suggestion, try to reflash the ROM. Remember to wipe data and cache before flashing.

U need to get CWM installed 1st. Follow this thread

The u can choose and download a ROM from our android development section.
Some of the ROM are flashable zips, download and put into ur sdcard,
u can simply install them by using CWM, select "install a zip from sd card"
while some of them are CWM nandroid backup, download the file and copy the folder called "2012XXXXXXXXX" and put it into /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/
Boot into CWM and select backup and restore -> restore

Sure. The 1st thing for u to learn is how to make nandroid backup via CWM. Try to figure them out and browse through our forum. There are quite a number of knowledge for u to learn as a beginner.

You cant install??? did you try download aT google play?? btw make sure ur wifi is on
Im sure it will ask for your google account. besides. try to install super user then if u can run the app. it means ur phone is still rooted. waheheh just try btw ny phone is not yet rooted so im nit sure about it. srry hehe. btw what topic did u follow to root ur phone im sure there is instruction to unroot ur phone.

To check whether ur phone is rooted, simply run V6 script or Titanium backup. The program will tell u.
Hi guys ... I am fairly new to this and this is also my first post but I am having some troubles .. nothing major just annoying .. first I would like to say great job on this from .. I have tried a few and definitely prefer this one the best .. ok so let me start with my issues ... the boot screen ... boot screen displays Samsung galaxy it9100 with the yellow triangle .. no big deal .. don't know if it is supposed to be there .. whatever ... here is my real issue .. there are two apps on my phone that will not stay installed after I reboot .. every time I reboot ... dream heights and sprint NBA mobile ... every time I boot up the shortcuts are there and it says that the application is not installed ... I have titanium restored them as well as freshly installed them from the play store .. I am not sure why this is happening .. some info .. I followed the instruction guide for clean install exactly how it is stated on instructions .. have never had a problem .. I was always wondering if instead of just wiping should I actually format system and format data and format cache ... can someone provide me some insight ? ... it would be greatly appreciated ... I also used the main dl not the mirrored one .. I used mirrored b4 and it was still happening so I went with main .. if someone would be so kind to also post the voicemail apk link that would be cool ... also I cannot receive voice SMS msgs ... any ideas ? thank you guys in advance I have read many of these forums and know that you are very very helpful
