[Q] Extremely low quadrant score. What do i do? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Okay, so the other day, i ran quadrant on my gs2 against my brohters gs4g and i got 3259 and my brother got 938. I tried again today, and i got 1208 and the gs4g got 1190. i ran the test seversl times and the same result, nothing more than 1300. I didn't change anything from the first time i ran the test, so is my phone messed up? I know most people don't really like quadrant, but i use it because it kind of gives me peace of mind knowing my phone is better thssn everyone else's

Don't worry about it. It really doesnt matter.

Reboot your phone then wait for about 30 seconds while everything settles (dont run any other apps) then run quadrant. What score did you get this time?

I tried the reboot thing after the first low score and pretty much the same score

Quadrant doesnt go well with Dual Core Snapdragon Processors. I've been getting 2000 each time a ran it. Try ANTUTU Benchmark and see what you get.
Quandrant doesnt define a phone of how great your phone is.

Or CF bench works well!
SGSII T989~ juggernaut v4.1~synergy v0.10

Quadrant is a horribly outdated benchmark, don't rely on it ever.

I'll take what AnTuTu Benchmark gave me.. Listed me at 6327... Just over the Nexus ;-)
Main thing that brought me down as my stupid SD card because I have some generic piece of junk --- EDIT: Just ran it against the internal SD, and I got 6577. Even above the Galaxy Note ;-)

I know that quadrant is not optimized for dual core, but that doesnt explain why i was getting 3000+ and it just dropped to less than 1000
Btw antutu was 6492 idk if thats good or bad so...

These threads get so old. Does everything work on your phone? Is it smooth and responsive? Then who cares what some outdated benchmark says. You are the benchmark.

I changed the rom on my friend's mytouch 4g and he scored 3246 on miui oc to 1.6 ghz lagfree, It beat my gs2 running zombie oc to 1.72 ghz lagfree 2976 i dont think quadrant is an accurate benchmark at all, so markus is right, YOU are the benchmark.

You'll hear a million times from a million folks that Quadrant scored are meaningless. You can have a stellar score and a buggy ass ROM or an average score and a great smooth experience with your ROM. Just gotta use what works best for you and if that also means high Quad score cool. When I OC to 1.8, I get over 2500, but it sucks my battery like a filthy back alley hooker.

my battery life isnt good in general, barely get's me half way through the day, and that's with following the other thread stating to delete the sense account and all.
So this is me at 1.8ghz a little while ago. Found out that if I run it set to "Performance" in SetCPU I get stellar speed, but as soon as my screen shuts off it won't come back on. Need to do a battery pull or hold down power for like 10 seconds to reboot. Eh, such is life.
@tjbunch
Here's my solution for that problem. In the setcpu profiles, make a profile for screen off and set the speeds to as low as possible. Like 245/245... ever since I did that I've never had that problem again. Hope it helps.
Edit: don't forget to set priority to the highest on that profile.

T989 Quadrant scores

I have seen the videos showing 3800 scores. I bought 2 of these today and i can not get above 2700. Anyone have any suggestions?

Quadrant doesn't matter!
its the GPU on our dual core snapdragons that lag behind the other exynous cpu-equipped sgs2 variants. Unless you're a hardcore gamer these numbers are meaningless. Other than that this phone does remarkably well in real world use.

Yes, I got mine yesterday and figured out how to get past 3800. No mod/tweeks needed.
Proof is in the attachment.
Reboot phone -> end all processes -> Run Quadrant(4 - 5 times) generally the 4th or 5th one is the highest score.
I start from 3200-3300 and end up between 3700-3800.
I am also sure that with mods and better overclock you can possibly hit 4.5k

Your right. Rebooted ran it and hit 3200 then 3799.
I was more wondering on this. I actually love this phone but cannot believe they took the tethering and wifi calling out. Tethering I'm not worried about as soon as we have root we will get it.

Asynchronous that's why once someone gets the cores to take on task together instead of acting as an individual cpu you should get more stable quadrant scores. Quadrant does not if I'm correct no the difference between two cores or 1 core.

it does matter other phones quadrant scores are not all over the place they are steddy and i shouldnt have to reboot my phone just to get a high score looks to me something is not working right with the phone i do see some lag playing 1080p videos in the web so maybe the developers can fix these problems

Just got one of these phones as well, unfortunately, I feel like home screen swipes with all alternatives and touch wiz are really laggy. Anyone else experiencing this? The scroll just seems to get jerky when you swipe. Really annoying.

Why are my Quadrant tests getting around 1400??

Any idea? Most reviews i saw for the GNex shows it getting 1700-2000+.
Meaningless or not, i wanna know why it's so much less.
Wtf

I checked it right when I got the phone for the hell of it and got around the same number. The only thing I care about is if it will lag with daily use. If it doesn't I don't care if it has half a core and 1 byte of ram.
Quadrant scores are meaningless and don't give any indication of how the phone performs in real world use.
My old Galaxy S2 scored 4000+ in quadrant but does it feel 3 times faster than my Nexus definitely no!
Again, I don't care about what the test actually means but why are our scores so much lower on the same device compared to the reviews show? What is different and why? It leads me to believe that something is wrong.
I freaked too, but I think its bs. If you install System Monitor you can watch both CPU cores in action. Also, other bench tests clearly show that you're getting dual core performance. I think Quadrant will need an update.

I get around 1400+ as well in quadrant and I don't think there is anything wrong as when I first got my GS2 my scores where lower than what was seen online from reviewers as well.
Don't forget they probably had a phone with no extra apps on it or just the bare minimum which could also affect the scores.

I think it doesn't and it needs a desperate update anyway to fully support ICS.
Someone correct me if I am wrong about quadrant standard not seeing both cores?
It's the higher resolution mainly.

crappy 2d performance

ive been wondering this for a while, ever seeing the 2d test in quadrant run slowly(to my eyes, at least) that whether or not this phone or the qualcomm chip has some issues with rendering stuff in 2d
as can be seen in this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ24BCfW3yw
both of the phones using the qualcomm chip doesnt even hit 30fps in 2d tests while the i9100 seem to hit 60 and gets capped there
i wonder if this is a driver issue or hardware issue, since not just our gs2 have this issue, but also the amaze, sensation and several other phones..
edit: here is the tmo gs2 vs sensation, same issue can be seen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DM6sPTcFpAc
all 3 of these phones share a similar snapdragon processor, and the crappy 2d issue seems to spread around(in certain games downloaded off the market)
not sure if anyone is even interested in this topic. but for my own fun i went on youtube and looked up the xiaomi m1(uses similar processor) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKOZKcA3VlY
seems like their phone doesnt have this issue
anyone have any insight to this?
Doesn't happened on the Skyrocket.
Faux has used the MDP drivers, that were apparently causing the lag, from the skyrocket, and ported them to the T-Mo SGS II.
From what I hear, it's fixed the lag.

just give quadrant a try on the skyrocket, you'll see the 2d benchmark and it's fps not even hitting 30

quadrant is the only thing i see that provides a 2d benchmark with fps on the bottom, and 2d stuff does seem fairly slow on our phone.
If you're not using beta kernel then your going to get lackluster results there is no lag stuttering in his kernel at all. Quadrant is not even a really good test at all. To test 2d. You need to keep in mind also that smp are vastly different from Asmp.

Oh, Quadrant's 2D is bull****.
1. It's not made for the Adreno 220.
2. It doesn't make the GPU ramp up under load, so the GPU sits at whatever idle speeds are.
I forget what the app is called that really tests 2D, but I know passmark has a 2D test in their app, and I just did the test, and it did WELL over 50 FPS.
Quadrant is so outdated that I'm not sure why anyone puts stock in anything that piece of old junk says.

Yeah i think Quadrant is a placebo enhancer. If a phone visually runs good ( I say visually because there is no doubt the hardware is physically capable of anything we throw at it,) then i could care less what number a program gives it...

My single core mytouch 4g can score 5000 in quadrant. So yeah. Try using a test like fps2d. From the looks of the little hardware information I can get out of it. This processor was optimized strictly for 3d performance. So any home that can use purely 3d should be considerably better performance.

100% agree. Benchmarks do not equal real world use.

Please post your 3DMark Scores and configurations

Greetings!
Just curious about what you guys are getting and what ROM/Kernel and speeds you are using.
My best score is:
Normal: 4257 Extreme:3060
This is running 1.8Ghz and 800Mhz CPU (Perseus kernel). Amnospherum Rom.
With saber kernel I only get
Normal: 3065
Extreme: 2351
Running 1.92Ghz and GPU stock speed since the ocing is broken for the GPU.
Regards
UPDATE: 06/06/2013
Running AOSP Rom and Devil Kernel...new best score 5330! This is it for me
I got
Normal: 3572=hw3d.force tweak.
Extreme: 2712
Added build.prop: hw3d.force=1
Running skynote rom at 1.6 ghz

My Samsung Galaxy Note II scored 3155 in the Ice Storm benchmark test. http://bit.ly/3dmark-android
Rom is bone stock UCAMA4...4.1.2....un-rooted.
Not bad !!
Well above average scores according to the comparisons.
I'd better run this for a while. ...g
I also get similar scores as you all, but the biggest factor is our GPU we are running a older version of drivers witch is 2.0 GL the nexus for example is running a 3.0 open GL.
It's also running 4.2 while I'm still at 4.1 not sure if that has anything to do with but on that 3d mark it gives you a graph. Processors at 11125, Graphics at 2356. I've seen the nexus graph at we beat the processor hands down our GPU in the other hand is found lacking. Nexus processor 9522 GPU 10119.
Not even sure if updating the GL version will help or its in the hardware.
