Never heard of it until now.Pretty neat little app.

Wtf is market unlocker? And why would one need it? Nothing on my market is locked, unless this tool is for kanging paid apps in which case shame on you, if you're gonna kang something atleast work for it and crack that ish manually lol

I'm going to assume it's like market enabler. Try that. I have used it a few times in the past to get some Verizon exclusive apps.
Boo

Just looked it up. Seems as if it will let u download apps that are not for your specific country or something. No use to me so not trying it out.

Sounds like something I don't need I have ways of getting what I need without some rogue app to do it lol
We are legion, for we are many.

Its not warez guys, its for people in different countries try new apps before they are released.
Market Enabler lets you access paid apps in Android Market
For some apps are just enabled for some specific country and not available to the other countries,so it is very difficult to download many high quality software.Market Enable lets you access paid apps from countries where paid apps are not yet available.

Downloading apks.

My evo is rooted and I want to try some apps before I buy them. I know Google doesn't want you to download apks from the internet so they try to block them. Sometimes I can get them to download and sometimes I cant. Is their any way you can get your evo to bypass this? I don't want an app from the market. Maybe a file I can delete using root explorer or something?

No that's not the problem. All that does is let you install them. I need help downloading them. It downloads them sometimes but most of the time it doesn't.
Downloading them from where? If you are downloading them from a 3rd party site, then the problem is with the site itself. Unless you are having problems downloading everything. If you are only having difficulties downloading apk files, then try getting them from another source.
I've noticed certain apps do not install, unless installed from the market.
One such app is google maps. After switching to cm7, gapps wanted to install maps 5.31 (current version). I wanted 5.0. Manually installing 5.0 would fail right at the end with a "unable to install" or "installation unsuccessful" message.
Pushing said app to /system/app, adjusting permissions, then rebooting yielded success.
I can install them I just can't download them.
warez is bad mm'kay. don't discuss in thread. pm peeps for that

How are you trying to download them?
Why don't you download them using a computer then transfer them to your phone via USB?
Note: I'm not condoning piracy.
9 out of 10 users have pirated apps before. Its not right but people do it.

I think of if as a free trial, then I always buy them to get the updates. I have a few that I paid for and never use because I went over the 15 minute limit. I also have a few paid ones that are junk, FC a lot and the dev abandoned.

I probably have 10 abandoned apps I've paid for that don't even do anything when you click them; just says no link or something. Some of them from early android days. Bastard devs lol

Yea a buck isn't so bad, but $5+ apps with no trial, demo or free version you bet Im gonna hit up 4******.*** and look for an apk and give it a run.
Ohh 4*****.*** sucks. I got something wayyyy more epic! Lol

If you're using 3g/4g to download, make sure you have the Sprint proxy disabled. It may or may not cause problems.
I kind of understand "trying before you buy"... as long as you buy. I just hate how people feel like these apps should be handed to them, like they're entitled.
I can't say much since I pirate music, but I always make sure to purchase from the bands I really appreciate, especially the lesser known & local bands. That's kind of how I view app/rom developers, they're local to the community... so I always either purchase the apps or use a free alternative.

Install apps from Amazon app store

I don't know if anyone has heard of this app, but as I was trolling the net looking for any 2.2 android roms for my sister's flipside, I came across an app in the android marketplace called, "Non-market Apps Enabler" by Bandroidx. It costs $1.69, but after installing it, I now had the option to uncheck or check install apps from non market sources, or whatever the thing says. So now I can install apps from the amazon marketplace or and 3rd party site and not have it blocked by ATT. Of course the phone it rooted and unlocked. Give it a try guys.
Yes, that's how I unlocked my unknown sources. I would have loved to been able to do so the running codes way, but I'm just not that comfortable doing that. Couple bucks to make my phone MINE seemed worth it to me. Plus, since I have link2sd, when I installed it, it immediately linked it which makes the app think it was uninstalled which resulted in a refund, but I was able to keep the app. So I got the app free and still enabled unknown sources. I would gladly pay the dev tho for his hard work.

newbie question

Hey guys i have recently bought gnex
i m newbie to android world
do i need to root gnex if i want to install downloaded apps and games on gnex ?
my friend told me that i dont need to root my device for that
is it ?
and how to install apps in that case
Nope... just go into security and check allow unknown sources. You will need a file browser as well to find the apk you downloaded and then tap on it and install it.

dont pirate apps/games.
buy them on the market. without devs being paid, none of this is possible.
if you were asking in general.... play store is where you get it from, there are also alternative markets (amazon app store, slideit)
Unless you really need Titanium Backup or custom rom, you don't have to root. Every phone is make to work out of the box, rooting is for developer options, or access file-system.
Enjoy your Gnex
99.9% of apps work on the phone without a problem. If you want to use other stores **** the Amazon App store then just follow the earlier posts instructions. Apps that require root are mostly apps that can have unintentional adverse affects.

[Q] What changed?

Well I think at least (as a Noob) I am posting this in the proper place.
Anyway, I have the ota JB update plus root but I seem to be finding less free apps and more pay for apps. In fact one of the apps I had but uninstalled, when I was on the custom codename android rom is now no longer free. I also had installed my nfl team wallpaper the other day and uninstalled it (I am having really bad battery drainage issues) but decided to reinstall and now the app is not even in the store. I am not sure what is going on. I thought when you are rooted you have more free apps to choose from not less and why would that one app I had originally gotten for free on my custom JB rom, now cost $?.
for instance a few days ago the packer live cube 3d wallpaper was free but not anymore. I didn't use it due to battery drainage but I am wondering why it is no longer free.
Thanks
You are imagining things. Rooting/ custom roms have no effect on the play store. Its just developers of the apps changing things

Okay thanks. I am new to this. Why did you say I am imagining things?
1. not all apps are compatible with jelly bean, so they wont show up in your market.
2. root has nothing to do whether apps are free or paid. its just easy to steal apps with root.
3. your custom rom before could just have included a paid app into its rom, people do that. sometimes they have permission(rarely) and sometimes they are just stolen(usually).

Thank you Simms. Perfect and helpful answer!:good:
Sorta off topic but I've been shying away from free apps lately, especially games. I'd rather pay a set fee than be nickel and dimed with in app purchases and annoyed with ads.

Tasker, quick question

Don't know if anyone will be able to help on this one but its worth a shot.I am thinking about buying this app but.....
This app is incompatible with your device.
CTM Samsung GT-N7100
Is there a way that I could get it to work do you think before I possibly waste my money, or is it just a risk I am going to have to take?
I live in Macau and this is where I bought my handset. Now the play store over here is absolutely ridiculous, pretty much ever app I try to download says incompatible or not available in your country. (Which is stupid because there are people walking around in angry birds everything, and i cant even download that!!!) The only apps i can download are free apps that are littered with ads and are of course all in Chinese. Now i have tried installing the cracked app store ( spent about a full day trying that) That made no difference either.
I just want to know if there is going to be a way around it if i buy it?
Cheers guys n gals
(Also running on jelly bean, and I can't remember what ROM I used any way to find out? As you can tell I'm very new to this, only recently swapped from an Iphone am I allowed to use that word on here haha)

No, Don't buy it. Even if you buy it won't work.
One option is, though not ethically correct is to download the apk file from any torrent or other sites.
Second option is to keep trying for any market MODs which will allow to use app store normally.
Are you sure that most of the apps are not available in your region? Make sure of that since it could also be some problem with the ROM or cracked app store problems.

Yeh this country is just messed up. The reason I tried a custom ROM/Cracked app store is because I could barely get any apps that worked here on the stock phone. I tried about 4 or 5 Different cracked play stores and methods to try and get it working but to no avail. I have the little smiley face play store so I know its installed but still always get that error message. The only way I have found around it so far is using something like Hideman to trick the phone to thinking its in the UK or US but this just means that I get very slow downloads etc.
