No, once you flash recovery you are good. The kernel does not play into recovery on this device, so feel free to flash whatever kernels and roms you like.

Big Thanks to you for your time advice and patience, I can be a pain trying to solve a problem

call me stupid but because I got used to flash everything via ODIN, I never thought that this rom is CWM flashable....
-Nice Galaxy S II boot.
-the text during the flashing process is clean and well organized!!!
-thanks to utkanos for cwmr
-thanks carpenoctem for this rom
EDIT: No root on first flash. need to flash zip from here but I guess it is a bad flash or download on my end.

whoa! Fast! as expected from the HTC Desire Z dev....
the ROM is freakin' fast! not yet on OC mode.

Wow! Great stuff. 10 downloads in 4 hours and you are already working on the next release.
Downloading this right now. Can't wait to flash and try it out.
** EDIT **
Just trying out the ROM right now. Looks great but I noticed that the Google Talk apk has been removed. When I received a message through GTalk the notification still pops up and I can see the message in the notification bar. Unfortunately now there is no way to reply to the message or remove the notification.

SuperUser is broken, you can flash it using CWM and the latest here: http://androidsu.com/superuser/
Sorry about that

Unfortunately, your site doesn't seem to be allowing downloads. I can get to the landing page, but when I click the link, it just eventually times out
Edit: Nevermind, it worked on about the 8th try. Maybe the server is just hammered tonight.

Yes, I just talked to my provider, they have some issues with their servers... try several times, eventually it works

Okay, so I flashed the ROM with CWM, and Superuser from ChainsDD's site. I had also previously flashed ardatdat's OverClocked kernel (from HERE) via ODIN as well. I'm pleased to report that your ROM is running perfectly at 1.2ghz and that so far everything seems to be working excellently!
Edit: Also, I don't know what the difference between the stock ROM and yours is, but my Bank's app didn't work with the stock ROM (It would always claim I had no network connection), but is working fine now... so, uh, yeah!

I'll try to include the kernel in the next release

APKs optimized, Power Menu ready, some kernel issues, but hopefully new version released tomorrow

You're going to be using a non-carrier IQ kernel, right? I'm in Canada, so have never had it, and I don't want to start now

yes that one stated in the second post, CarrierIQ free and 1.2ghz

I don't know if this is ROM related or not, but 1) no 3g monitoring apps are correctly reporting my 3g usage anymore (I tried 3g watchdog and two others) and 2) The Rogers My Account app just crashes when I start it. Everything else seems fine

Did you try lbe privacy to monitor 3G usage ?
and I remove all Rogers apps, maybe it is why. Do a backup, then full wipe and try again.

Yeah its a rom issue... I wiped all caches and did factory reset from in CWM, then reinstalled the ROM. now my phone thinks its UMTS and has no wireless data at all except wifi...
Crap. Im not sure how to even fix this.
All I can think to do is re-flash the Rooted Rogers rom from the "rooting captivate glide" thread with ODIN when I get home.

[ROM][Pays-ROM SGS v1.1][Simply Clean and Stable XXJVQ Gingerbread]

This ROM is for SGS users, who are looking for a stable basic Gingerbread ROM with the latest JVQ Firmware, but without the Samsung apps and a less modified system.
(For more thoughts about the ROM look at my post here.)
You can also edit the paysscript.sh in the root of the ROM.zip in order to add the Samsung apps you want back.
Simply delete the lines of apps you want to keep or add lines if you want to delete even more.
Also you can add manual apks to the data/app folder in order to add more (uninstallable) apps!
So customizing should be very easy for everyone.

Is the browser not laggy due to the deodexing?
In your .zip file, "Removed APK" are included ! Why ?
(aldiko.apk, budiesnow.apk, Days.apk .... )

The stock browser is a bit laggy, didn't notice that before because I use Miren Browser..
But this seems to be a general bug in deodexed JVQs, lets see if I find a nice solution for the stock browser.
Oh so sorry
Good idea for script !

Take a look at this fix from Ramad. I think it will slove the problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15304964&postcount=805
is possible to add the CRT Off animation via recovery or cwm? it haves the laggy problem with galler? im current using F1 V6 but this ROM loos interesnting
BT not working in default kernel?
Looks good. Will check & tell.
I will check the mentioned issues.
Also I will deodex the ROM again on my own.
I thought the deodexed files where good.
/Edit:
Okay I mounted the original JVQ and extracted all files.
Replaced it with the deodexed from [Ramad], and now all is working like it should.
So I will now add some tweaks and reupload the package and the ROM should be like I wanted to have

Is there a way to add back some of the removed apps?
- Memo
- Swype
- WriteandGo
- InfoAlarm
Did you remove Mobile Tracker?
Whatever you do please do not put Overscroll Glow, leave it on Stock Overscroll effect.
Thank you.

I believe the answer is yes and how to do it is in the original post or the second one.
Really pleased to see Pays is working on the Galaxy S now
I used his roms on my old HTC Magic back in the days, they were always classy roms - stable and subtly themed.
Looking forward to trying this one.
Okay good news I found a way to deodex JVQ android.policy.jar and framework.jar without errors
Maybe tomorrow I can release my work.
/Edit:
It seems like they are not the only files which needs to be deodexed again argh..
Okay I updated the ROM to the odex files, I will look for a good way to solve the odex problem to add at least the ASOP lockscreen back, because this is the only thing I am really missing now..
The extended power menu is not so important because of CWM included.
I really trusted the deodexed files from xda, but this sucks when you put work into files which are broken from startup..

I'm guessing none, just that one was made by WH and this one by woldy.
Powered by the SGSII....
We did the same things and most likely both used Kitchen, if Whitehawkx already started a thread for this feel free to delete mine.
Does the browser work normal on this rom? I flashed whitewhawks and browser was laggy as hell, I had to nandoid back to 3.7. Thanks for this!
browser works great for me

only problem is the apparent lack of the market....lol
I installed the stock ROM, and after a bit of head scratching, managed to root it. WiFi calling works, everything works. First thing I did was delete Carrier IQ.

Good catch, I only updated from current and not from stock so it was not an issue. It is in there so I will have to debug.
its just missing the apk...should be able to throw the apk in and be set
not sure what happened when i originally built it that it was missing the market.apk. everything else was there, just not that so i have no clue what happened. I restored a backup so i originally had the market, didnt realize til i reflashed after i heard it was missing
Also, anyone find the "swipe to unlock" note in the lockscreen annoying? how can i get rid of that?

Installation:
0. Use Titanium Backup to backup apps+data (recommended)
1. Please make sure you have the latest CWM Recovery installed from ROM Manager (app in Market). Then enter recovery.
2. Make a nandroid backup!
3. Then "wipe cache partition" and "advanced > wipe dalvik cache"
4. If your not coming from an earlier version of my ROM, you need to "wipe data/factory" reset in CWM
5. Flash the ROM zip
6. Reboot your system. Give it some time, it takes 5-10 minutes
Note: follow all these steps whether your coming from another ROM or upgrading from an earlier version of my ROM
If your not on AT&T (ie your using Bell in Canada), you will need to download APN Backup & Restore from the Market to delete the current APN and then create the APN for your carrier.

i'm waiting to flash this rom
Congrats on having the first custom ROM for the Nitro HD.
Beta links have been sent out.
Put the link please!
We have enough beta testers for now, I will hold off sending anymore for now. Thanks for all the interest. The public release should be within a day or two.
bravo kernelpan1c... cannot wait to get my hands on this.
I am going thru flashing withdrawls since getting this phone.
this will be the 1st ROM i ever flash!
i'm very excited...................
Hi, Kernelpan1c! Great work!
I would ask from you to release a stock deodexed rom w/o changes.
I really like stock launcher and fonts, and other stock things, but I have not enough knowledge to cook it by myself.
notice any improvement in battery life?? that alone will be worth flashing.

Just use Titanium backup prior to flashing and you can restore what you want.
Hey, do y'all think I should go ahead and get CWM squared away on my phone now or should I wait and do it + this ROM at the same time?

Do it now and work on the fixes you're likely to have to deal with (it's still new so ya know there's gonna be bumps!). Once you're comfy it's working right, then do the ROM...Then work on the fixes with that.
I'm a big proponent of dealing with frustrations one at a time (whenever possible! )
This is what happens when I don't get online much over the weekend... Locked out of trying a new ROM.

I'm thinking the same thing but it occurred to me *maybe* some of those bumps in CWM get ironed out in the mean time. Or is that not likely?
I'm hoping (due to my lack of knowledge re: these sorts of things) for a smooth install of the CWM. It all seems pretty straight-forward but I can get glossy eyed about these sorts of things!

I will do that after this release. I still need to de-odex the rest of the APKs that I took out.
I will probably also release flashable ZIPs to restore apps that people want.

Download Link: http://goo.im/devs/graffixnyc/GS3-i747/BlackJelly_V1.01.zip
It is recommended that you have updated to Stock Jelly Bean via odin before flashing and especially if you have any problems. The odin update will make sure all partitions are updated and not just the system/boot partition
It is recommended that you do a full wipe before flashing including data. It wouldn't boot for me the first time I tested until I wiped data as well. You can try without but if you have any issues do a full wipe
If you have no data please re set up your APN's you can google the correct apns

Please do not request anything. I did this rom for me and it's how I use it. I just decided to share it. If there is a feature you want and it's not something I myself would use then I wont put it in.

It's based off the LI3 leak. If there was a toggle on stock then it should be there. I have not added any toggles or anything yet or removed anything toogle related (I think haha).

LMAO. haha. The joy of android. Btw, just booted up. Loving the graphics. Seems just as smooth as the Aristosdemos rom. Looks very very nice though. Great work. My fav part, the small font. I hate large writing haha.
PS. I would trade my 747M for a i9300 any day. I have access to LTE, but im on an old grandfathered HSPA+ unlimited plan...just cant give it up.

Thanks! I was up until 6am EST this morning working on it. I figured if I was up that late working on it I might as well share it
I cant count how many bootloops I got trying to get the theme over correctly. It would be more complete if I could get the XML files in systemui over without a bootloop. I'm going to keep working on it though for sure I firgured for a 1st release it was pretty far along theme wise

hehe Yeah, I can imagine. I've have days like that myself. My first ever project was porting CWR to the dell streak 7. It was my first experience doing anything dev related and also my first experience with Linux so you can imagine how that went. I think I was up for 72 hours straight and most of that time was spent resetting up linux because I screwed something up and couldnt figure out how to fix it. lol
I have to say the i747 leak is running much better/smoother than the latest LI5 i9300 JB leak(at least for me).

very true, and yeah you must've needed like 20x cups of coffee and energy bars
Thank you for the great work. I have a few questions related to your ROM.
1. Can someone confirm that this works with LTE?
2. Do I need to flash new radios or modems for this build?
Thanks again

[ROM][XS][JB] Yakandu StockSlim v3 / Full clean base ROM

This is my very first ROM, test it if you want
Features
This ROM is just the Stock JB .200 but Rooted, with Busybox and with almost every app (that doesn't interfere with the system) deleted, and an adjunct "deleted apps" .rar with every app i have deleted from the FW so you can recover whatever you want! Its also deodexed and zipaligned, and I adjunct a list of what have I deleted and what function it does.
Original .ftf: http://dfiles.eu/files/bh6inz1bp
Option 0 (Root + Busybox + Deodex + Zipaligned): http://dfiles.eu/files/i3galgtki
Option 1 (Slim + Root + Busybox + Deodex + Zipaligned): http://dfiles.eu/files/95ofhuugy
Option 2 (Deleted apps): http://dfiles.eu/files/otut6b96u?redirect
If Locked Bootloader install the rom from the ICS recovery, may work or may not (i dont know, kindly yes), then flash stock JB kernel from any .ftf
I Unlocked Bootloader install from DooMLoRDs Advanced kernel: This!.
Deleted apps:
Link to an updated google doc with this info updated!
Extras:
-Small apps: Slide controls, Torch.
Pre-Instalation (How do I install Yakandu's deleted apps before i install the ROM?):
- Open the zip "deleted apps"
- Open the roms zip /sytem/app
- Move from deleted to the ROM the apps and .odex you want
Instalation:
- Move the ROM to the phone
- Install the rom from the recovery
- Select the ROM and then "Yes"
Post-Instalation (How do I install Yakandu's deleted apps after i install the ROM?)
- Move the apps you want to your phone
- With, for example, Root browser move them to system/app and change permission to the typical 644
My recomendations (phone)
Personally i dont want notifications, just gmail and whatsapp, I usually deactivate facebook, twitter, hangouts etc sincronization and notifications (better battery experience)
Screen:
- Bravia Engine: OFF (I tune photos by my own)
- Brillo: 1/4 (For an example )
Audio:
- ClearPhase: ON (Soun quality increases a lot!)
- xLOUD: ON (Obvious reasons)
- Dial pad touch tones: OFF (I dont like them, better battery experience)
- Touch sounds: OFF (As above)
- Screen lock sound: OFF (As above)
- Vibrate on touch: OFF (As above)
Developer options:
- Depuración USB: ON (Android commander is very useful, you need this ON to make it work)
- Animations... 0.5x (Better visual experience)
More recomendations (others):
- Use adaway! LEss PopUps and spam with free apps, less 3G, less battery consumption
- Use Greenify, for obvious reasons
- Buy Titanium Backup, life is easyer with it
- Buy Dropsync, life is easyer with it, both way syncro of whatever you want!
- Freeze apps you dont use!
- Always isntall the last Busybox
Changelog:
v3 Fixed "no birgtness on led bar" and "unable to download internet settings" bugs
v2 Odexed + Zipaligned
v1 First release
Some tips on "How to make an AROMA installer including .odex files" will be appreciated, i plan to make one to flash every app you want from those I have deleted.
PD: I'll test a deodexed rom to make a flashable aroma
These are the 644 permissions:

Ill quote myself
"Features: This ROM is just the Stock JB .200 but Rooted, with Busybox and with almost every app (that doesn't interfere with the system)"
you just need to incorpore the apps you want to the zip to have whatever function you want
Hello,
do we need to be in an official firmware to install this stripped rom? Do I need to flas a .55 rom before this?
Since as me many people uses this phone connected to exchange, can you please provide the Exchange2.apk as addon without the need to download the entire 130Mb package?
Thanks
EDIT: Well, nevermind.

Deodex means i have fissioned .odex with their apps...
For the mean user, deodex means "better compatibility with MODs"
Zipalign means "better RAM management"

Yes nicely done on the slimrom, a whole lot than I also normal delete ofg my roms before I install, battery consumption should drastically improve with slim right??

I am not sure its a drastic improvement, I mean it depends on what your doing with the phone, games, video, camera etc.
But it sure as hell stops face book and all those constant silly social tweets, stops the extra notifications and connections,(which drive me insane personally) so if you just want a phone fully powered for when you do WANT use it, it seems to be right TO dump all the "useless" stuff IMHO
It seems to start up faster and run smoother too.
Thank you! Great rom! Very simple!

Wifi reception is awful. Worst than before. Any idea?
The others things are great, fantastic rom. Just missing a better notifications panel.

Me neither, ROM looks and feels good for now.
Is there any way to install tab 'n' grid in this ROM?
Any link other than depositfiles? It's always stop downloading in the middle for me
i would like to know why do you think the wifi problem is software related..
have you considered a different name, since there has been Slimbean for a long time?
it's a bit confusing, and i would think the makers of slimbean don't like a different rom is named almost the same...
thanks for the deleteable apps list!
helps me so much!
