[Q] Virtuous Doubleshot - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If you havn't noticed it yet but the download link is down in the original Virtuous Doubleshot thread I development section. The download link has been down for quite some time now....
Because I have not gotten over 10 post limit I can't ask there but does anyone else know where I can get the rom?
Also, you can give me some comments about the rom If it's worth trying out...

You can google or ask the OP of the doubleshoot in a private message if you can't post in the thread

Thank you so much!

The Doubleshot is my favorite Sense ROM. I just love the launch bar. Unfortunately, it doesn't run so smoothly, it quickly became obvious to me that it was intended for a phone with more RAM. If that wasn't the case I would probably be running it still.
Also, the kernel is not compatible with the swap script so that won't help.
There is a thread in the DHD forums with some visual mods but I believe the download links are dead.

I agree
This *was* my favorite ROM as well, but the lag just got to bad. Would be nice for an update that would allow swap. the supercharger script also didn't help with me as well.

Yeah, the rom is not lag free but i didn't find it exceptional laggy. I've tried manualy add the ultra-smooth rosie to this one which reduced the lag but some times when you go to the landscape mode you can't press any shortcuts or widgets... An update with fixed ultra-smooth rosie would make the rom perfect i think.
As for the theme, the download link is dead as said. Does anybody got a copy that? The maker of that one has lost the files for it and therefore he can't reupload it

well in simple terms I am trying to make the android os for this device that looks like stock android which means the first release will not be perfect looking but will take some time to make it look nice which means will need testers to tell me how it looks and post up pictures for me of how it looks.
First release to be today
I am going to put out my first release today at around 12:00 to 4:00 pm eastern standard time so you guys can test it out but it will not be perfect so send pictures of the rom by using dropcap and send them to this page for my viewing of what I have to change. Im serious I may be new to this place but I have been developing with the cliq before i moved onto mytouch 4g.
yea man all we need is you IP address... dont post emails on here..

[Q] Acer Launcher on G2

anyone here get acer launcher to install on the G2 on CM7?
if so, what apk did you use? does it FC on you all the time?
Its called Liquid Villian find it in the Dev section.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA App
I don't have experience with it, but this was the only thread I was able to find on XDA through search (that had any sort of recent replies). Did a search in the thread so I wouldn't have to read through the 10 pages and it doesn't seem like there was anyone reporting in from the G2/Desire Z camp to give success or failure stories, so you'll have to test it out for yourself.
The only other alternative I can think of right now is mentioned by joe3681 above me in the Liquid Villain thread. I flashed the rom when it was first released and gave it a couple of minutes, but it was a drastic change and I missed the features/familiarity of CM7, so I went back. It definitely isn't CM7 if that's what you're looking to keep, but if the launcher is something that's really that important to you, then this may be your only option. The dev doesn't seem to be actively providing updates to it as it seems stable/nothing to update, but a gingerbread port does seem to be in the works/planned.
It should also be noted that there is now an option in CM7 to have the status/notification bar at the bottom (under tablet options in CM settings). This might give you a slight compromise.
Hope I helped a little bit.

yea it does say not installed if you try to use the apk to install it. im guessing there is a compatibility issue
Launchers aren't typically listed in the app drawer. Once it's installed, push the home softkey and it will ask you what you want to use to complete the action. Set it to use the launcher of your choice as default. The same goes for ADW, LauncherPro, Go Launcher, and more I'm sure. Go Launcher does have an icon I believe though.
Or are you saying that the apk fails to install altogether?
Yes I am saying it does not install at all

How is a sense based rom android 2.3.5 at this time?
It isn't sense based, the system folder contains CM apps, but nothing htc/sense related
Reads like an OMGB kang without giving credit to r2DoesInc.
Sorry to my readers and participants. Because of my stupidty and anxiousness to get this up, I managed to screw up the post a bit.
Changes:
*AOSP Base; not Sense (DUH..).
*Credit given to appropriate sources.
Thank you for your tolerance, support, patience, and participation.
As always, enjoy!
I recommend using your own updater-script
Edit: If I missed that you just kept that OMGB part for a reason then sorry that I didn't read all the way through

Okay.. and also
I recommend that you change your apps to the free ones.. a lot of developers dislike when you put apps that they sell in the market and basically distribute for free, and you should personalize the extra apps that they download.. like the ones you like in 1 .zip and the other google apps in another .zip

And this is why you shouldn't use someone else's work without knowing what you're doing.
1 do you have permission to use omgb as the base for your rom? I'm thinking you don't and if that's the case you are most likely violating xda rules
2 did you build this from source? I tend to think you didn't
3 don't post roms or anything without correct information and credits...easiest way to get kicked to the curb
4 I could go on but I await to hear more from the op
why is this even posted?
will a MOD please take this down and just post a link to the ROM that this is using. this isnt a new ROM, it's worthless. you can do what u want, but u cant do that on these forums

I'm all for people trying to get into the custom rom game, it can bring diversity to the custom rom market. However I would not classify this as "No Bloat" because rmk defined it as "anything you could easily choose to download from the Market yourself, has been removed." Thanks for the contribution!

For me that seems better. As long as there is one person using it, it belongs here IMO. Still would like to see some sort of speed mod though. Maybe borrowing some tweaks from bulletproof or something.

I'd say you'd have to do a bit more than just remove a few apps and media files. You don't really gain anything by that do you? Just a little free space and since the Vision has plenty of that it really isn't an issue. Maybe a few scripts or something would do good? Some roms have adblock scripts and sd-readahead tuning scripts and such installed by default so the average user doesn't need to do anything.
You could change the original MIUI file manager to apooonets modded one which has access to root files and such, though you might want to ask him(/her) first. You can find the xda thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523691
Anyways keep on going, I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Droidcell,
I've been thinking about this and came to the conclusion that its just too similar to stock. Miui runs well as it is so you would have to do something crazy to bring people in. Have you thought about stripping it right back to only the core elements:
Phone
SMS
Market
Contacts
Gapps (or just market as the rest can be got from there)
That way it would be proper stripped back. If people want to add a browser or whatever they have the market.
What do you think?

The WiFi fix is not just a flashable zip, it needs to be baked into the rom. The next release will have Wifi. We are working as fast as we can.
Also just as a note, you do not need to post it here and in development thread. I read all the forums and will try to reply as fast as I can. We want to keep the development thread for development and not turn it into a place where everyone post stuff. We will be strict about this
Hell of a job, guys, hats off.
But is it true One V have no landscape enabled Rosie, just as One S? Do I have to wait for X/XL?

Thanx for having a look.
Google didn't seem to help with this but is there something that explains the difference between Sense 4.0 and 4.0a?
I am looking forward to see sense 4.0, but mostly just get the 25gb free from DB. Will I have any problems restoring my previous ROM, using normal methods(CWM, booting in recovery, etc.)?

Sense 4.0a
-Only has five home screens
-There is no lock screens like the weather lock screen in sense 3.5.
-There are no animations on screen like the wiper when it rains.
-The rotation animation has also been removed.
These changes has been made to save some Ram seeing that the One V only has 512mb.
