Osmos HD on DHD - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anybody managed to run the game Osmos HD on desire hd ? I'm on LC ICS beta 4.5 btw. I pushed the apk and when I launch it it says that the application has stopped working.
Any ideas ?

A lot of apps still fail to work on the ICS because its still in beta( development stage) You have to live with the once in a while failure of apps.
For a stable experience use CM7 or AR like ROMs. and when ICSis fully developed then you may jump ship.
Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I'm fully aware of that.
Just wanted to know if someone has already got it running on gb 2.3 or if it is fully related to my ICS version

Works fine for me on all pre-ICS builds.
Great Little War Game, on the other hand, I can't seem to get a working copy of (not hinting, necessarily). Seems to uncrack itself pre-ICS, and just plain not work post ICS.

psx4droid problems

similar threads didnt show psx4droid problems with htc desire so i decided to make a new one
any ideas why it isnt working for me?
running on the Oxygen v2.0-RC5 (Gingerbread RC)
downloaded psx4droidlite from the market, downloaded the scph1001.bin, then finally the rom. it just blacks out then returns to the "select rom" menu. if it matters, the rom i tried out first was Digimon World. it failed, then i tried a different one, Final Fantasy Tactics. it failed again but i decided to download a different one but the same game now it's Final Fantasy Tactics.img instead of .bin, still not working.
Think i've heard some talk about the 3D in the Gingerbread rom not being totally done yet, or there are some missing drivers, maybe that's why? Though am not 100% sure on what i say here is true.
Doesnt work on my RC5 either so im guessing its the roms fault
psx4droid
Are you trying only one game maybe its not supported, rooted stock rom it works perfectly for me
I'm using rcmix HSBC custom Rom and I'm having no problems running roms in bin, img and eboot (psp format) the only one that is a bit buggy is metal gear solid. I'm using psx4droid V2.9...........sudeki300

I've been having tons of slowdown issues with my PSX4DROID V2. I have not rooted my Epic 4G as of yet and if that is the issue then I will try but running stock, all games run slow as paint drying lol but the sound is pretty spot on. But when I try them on the PSX4DROID Lite version all the games run GREAT but the sound is horrid and no saving ability. If you guys know anything please let me know
As far as I know it's a bug in Gingerbread because it wont work on my Desire Oxygen RC5, too. It was working in froyo. The app needs a fix.

[Q] Is there a viable Gingerbread 2.3 Rom for Desire HD yet?

I had an original Hero a while ago and was using Modaco roms but that was over a year ago now before jumping to Palm Pre for a bit.
So I am totally new on modern hacks and concerning the DHD.
I know I need to downgrade and something called S-OFF and Visionary. However what I need to know is if I use a 2.3 Rom presumably from a Cyanogen source will I have full functionality? All Google Apps? Can I still use HTC Sense widgets if I choose too? Will HTCSense.com still work?
Thanks

Depends where you get it from, but on here most are full of bugs currently, I would wait until they are ironed out. No HTCSense.com won't work without the HTC Sense homescreen, but I would only worry about this if you REALLY need the service. Google Apps will work, and if they arent supplied they can be downloaded from the Market

Really? I have been running Cm7 (compiled from source and Now nightlies) and the only bug is a quirk in video playback in portrait mode everything else works fine, true if you like sense cm isn't gonna be your bag but otherwise it's great

No I want to try vanilla 2.3 for a bit. I have only ever used Android with Sense overlay.
You saying the Cm7 nightlys are stable for day2day use and all apps are available on it? Is it the thread over in Dev forum?

I'm using CM7 Nightlys on day2day basis, on build #5 atm, got no problems with it at all.
Thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
Alltho i recomend reading up on the full proess around rooting and flashing recovery, radio and roms a few times to ensure your not getting a brick out of it
does 2.3 bring with it marvelous battery life improvements?
I did all the nececssary and now I am succesfully running slightly modded cyanogen7 daily #5. Very stable actually no problems at all so far other than the Microbes live wall paper freezing and needing a reload

Problems with games on my phone

So yesterday I changed my rom to oxygen Tom which have gingerbread.
So now I'm starting to download all the games again to my phone.but
Some of the games now doesn't work, for example I now downloaded the game solipskier and the game not working, when I go inside the game it just crashes and not working.
So anyone knows what to do?

Downgrade to Froyo again.
Gingerbread can be barely called beta quality as we are still missing the appropriate drivers for it (which we will get with the Nexus One OTA which so far has not yet surfaced).
The Drivers in most Gingerbread ROMs out there are hackjobs from Froyo ROMs made to "kind of work" with Gingerbread.
Forget about games and doing serious work with Gingerbread at the moment, it's no daily driver yet.
Does it help to say that I have Gingerbread and I experience no crashing?

[Q] Working Stock ICS or Jellybean ROMs?

I have spent the last few hours searching all over, just like I do every few months, trying to find a stable ICS or Jellybean ROM with everything actually working. Finally decided to just post and ask for some help. I don't care about beats audio or any other stuff people add in, just plain stock is preferable, but I need wifi, 4g, youtube, and all the camera stuff to work. Are there any ICS or JB ROMs out there where everything works the way it should?

*sigh*
There's so much I want to say. But instead, I will say this:
This device is only officially supported through Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). Any Android versions past that do not have official drivers, so they would have to be built from scratch, for a device that has been EOL for quite a while. Thus, your statement "where everything works the way it should" doesn't make sense, as the device doesn't officially support running ICS or JB.
That being said, all of the ICS/JB ROMs suffer at the very least the same list of things not working - FFC, 4G, HDMI out, Netflix. Videocam can also be an issue on some. So, based on your criteria, you'll be sticking to Sprint-based Gingerbread Sense ROMs .

Not sure why all the sighing and such but thanks for the info. It's hard to tell because it's not always clear what people base a ROM on and it seems like only about half the people posting ROMs list what doesn't work. I was hoping there might be a cynagenmod 9 or 10 for it at some point but it doesn't seem likely.

CM9 and CM10 both exist for the supersonic, but development has been discontinued on them. But that doesn't matter anyway; those features I already mentioned still don't work, so they're disqualified from your consideration.

The CM9 and CM10 builds to which I refer are completed ROMs. They're just not officially supported by CyanogenMod. But they're built directly from CM source.

To me finished means things work. I mean what makes it finished? Just that you are able to install it on the phone? If that were the case there was a finished version more than a year ago. Obviously cyanogen doesn't think it's finished either otherwise they would make it official.

That's not what makes a CM build official or not. But I'm not going to bore you with facts you can find via Google. And yes, everything that can/should work work. But there are updates to drivers that can make things work better, or tweaks here and there that can be done. Besides the fact that Google releases updates/patches that need to be included.
Since I answered your original question, I will now digress.
Lol how many times a week are people going to ask about ics and jb builds with everything working, or official HTC releases without looking for themselves first before realizing they don't and wont ever exist. Yes they are finished, they boot, make calls, get data, the only things that dont work on em are 4g and FCC. Just unroot your phone and forget about it, you aren't cut out for this business son.

You need to assess just how important some features are to you. If you only have an Evo, and somehow don't have an upgrade on your plan, then you have 2 options.
1: Keep it stock, everything works. No hassle, just poor battery life. Maybe get Superuser and remove the adware/junk if you feel like it.
2: Use a custom ROM which will not have working 4g, FFC, and other features that you won't know they don't work until you go to use them.
Weigh the pros and cons and make a choice, but everyone here so far is correct. The device is EOL and there will most likely never be a working ICS/JB build that has all features working. That would require too much work, for an EOL device.

If you must have all radios and hardware of the EVO 4G fully functional, you should stick with a gingerbread ROM v 2.3.5 or later. MikG 3.11 is a Sense based ROM that is well integrated and fully supports all EVO 4G operations. You can download MikG 3.11 at http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?10338-MikG-v3-11-3-9-2012.
As others have indicated, no ICS or Jellybean ROM supports 4G or the FFC. Sadly the necessary work for the hardware drivers is not likely to happen. If you do not require working 4G or FFC, there are a number of fully functional Android 4.0.4 (ICS) or 4.1.2 (Jellybean) ROMs available. I happen to like HALO Series II Nova http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903469&page=33 and AlienMOD Solar Flare Series V http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086163 with the caveat that I am experiencing some tint issues with camera applications in these ROMs.

[Q] Most stable ICS/JB Rom

I recently had to move back to my desire after my newer ICS orange san diego developed an overheating problem.
It currently has CyanogenMod7 on it but I would like to put a similarly stable and performant ICS or JB ROM on it.
It seems there are a number of ROMs still under pretty active development and I'm having a hard time in choosing between them.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a stable ROM with reasonable performance that I could stick on the desire?
I do use the video camera from time to time so would preferably like a ROM where this was working to reasonable standard.
My phone is S-OFF, rooted, unlocked, 2GB sd-ext, CM7r2 HBOOT (will likely be swapping this back for stock HBOOT).
Thanks in advance for any replies!
These threads arent really allowed, but ill give you some info.
Go with JB over ICS. I dont think there are any ICS roms actively developed currently, and overall JB has better performance. I havent had video recording work in any JB rom (its not that important for me anyways), but i think a few ICS roms have it working.
You wont have the same stability and performance as GB, but there are still a few good options that i have used as daily drivers:
Paranoid Android 4.3 by WoH
ChromiumROM (CM10.1) by me
Evervolv by nikez
Thanks very much for the reply and apologies for posting a 'not allowed' thread. *slaps wrist*
I have already DLed Chromium so will give that a try first. It was failing to install but then I realised that's cos of my HBOOT so going to sort that first and then get Chromium installed.

Yep, most jb roms need stock hboot to fit their large system sizes, however you can generally slim them down yourself to get them running on data++ hboot. I'll probably release a slimmed version of chromium ROM soon.

I noticed that you released build 11 last night so I flashed that and all looks to be working really great so far. Very impressed with the ROM, appears to be stable from my limited testing. Had one issue where it got stuck on the widgets screen and wouldn't show homescreen but was fine after a restart and hasn't reoccurred since.
Another mod I made was to set the pixel density to 200 which works really well on the desire, can get a lot more on the screen.
Is the issue with the video camera pretty fundamental and unlikely to get resolved?
Still amazed that JB can run so well on such an old phone.
Thanks for the rom, sterling work!

It's my orange san diego that is overheating, although my desire has previously over-heated but that was fixed under warranty. I might try taking it apart and cleaning the contacts as that guide suggests though in the hope of getting it working again.
Been running chromium for a few days now and it's been very stable. Only issue I've had is the error 'google text to speech engine has stopped' keeping on popping up. It is a bit sluggish but I expected that really and I do have a lot of apps installed.
