Wallpaper - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So I'm having "Wallpaper" issues.
I select the image from my gallary and I have the option to either
a) make it span multiple windows/frames or
b) I can select the portrait image and its stays the same on screens (or its supposed to).
When I select option "b" it also ask if I want to make that my lockscreen image too and I say yes.
When I go back to my home screen the wallpaper is enlarged/zoomed in and I can't get it to set correctly. However my lockscreen wallpaper looks perfect like its supposed to. Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix this?
Edit
After some more playing around im finding its launcherpro causing the issue. Funny though when i use that on my sensation it doesn't have that problem. Any suggestions?

Had a similar issue. Search the market for an app called dodol, it's pretty easy to figure out from there.

Look for wallpaper wizardrii in the market. It solved a few wallpaper issues for me.

My evo will not change my background and always reverts back to a red ribbon wallpaper but live wallpapers work. So my problem is that I cannot change my background because it reverts back to another wallpaper and my question is how do I change it.

have you tried a reboot if that don't work I don't know sorry maybe find the red stripe wall paper and delet it would work.
how are you trying to change the background... i tried with astro fille manager and so far its been a no go, but if you hit up the gallery in apps, find pic then hit menu button, you have an option to set as....
this is how i've been going about changing my wallpapers that are having those issues.
from any home screen just hit menu>wallpapers
you can pick where you want to get it (live, wallpapers, or gallery) from there
pick it, be done with it

I have the same problem, however I set the wallpaper it will sooner or later revert back to the same original one as in the first post... when I have a problem to actually set the wallpaper a restart will solve it but then it will randomly revert to the same wallpaper again. It happens on a daily basis except when I use the live wallpaper, even with a wallpaper rotation.
Using Sprint EVO G4 - 2.1
had this issue to resolve it simply restart your phone

home screen wallpaper zoomed in?

When I set my wallpaper and go back to the home screen, the wallpaper appears to be zoomed in and only shows the center portion very big. Lock screen is proper size, sometimes.
SOLUTION: For those of you having this problem, I found the workaround for it. Use Home Switcher and switch to Touchwiz, go to home screen and set wallpaper, it should appear the proper size now, go back to Home Switcher and switch to whatever launcher you choose and the wallpaper should stick.
OP edited with workaround
Wallpaper wizardrii app can also help, fits any wallpaper size to your home screen.

Using the workaround that I posted in the first post solved the issue for me without the need of any external apps.

I uninstalled the home switcher and most of the other stock apps and replaced them with the ones I use so that app is great for me and those like me.

SNIPER is right QUickPic worked for me
Still, it is silly how they designed the home screen wallpaper settings. There is no reason why we can not set a picture to fit the screen by default stock out of the box. It is amazing how something so simple can be such a pain.
This is my biggest gripe about an android.

No more forced cropping on wallpapers

The application I want to talk about is PicSpeed Wallpapers.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zcnNkZXYud2FsbHBhcGVycyJd
A promising application which offers pretty good wallpapers, in my opinion. However it is more than a simple wallpaper application... Not special in a sense where it gives you super exam cheating skills (which I so desperately need right now)... but it gives you MUCH better cropping for your wallpapers in the Gallery app .
So how do you use it and how much better is it? Well to use it start by getting a Wallpaper. So once you got that on your phone go ahead and open up the Gallery. Find and tap on the image. Now hit the menu button and select "Set picture as" (on ICS) or whatever you need to click to set a wallpaper. You will notice a pop-up comes up. The normal options would be contact photo and wallpaper (and maybe whatever else you have), but now we are introduced with the option of "Set as Wallpaper" - with the PicSpeed icon beside it. So tap it (of coarse). Underneath the image will be three images. The first (left) crops the image to use just the middle (based on dimensions) and is not a scrollable Wallpaper. The second (middle) gives you the traditional full-use of the wallpaper in a scrollable state. The one that is most interesting is the last (right) option. This one offers a custom crop. Which means you can make the wallpaper scrollable or not and perfectly set the crop to whatever you want. So once you use the right custom option go ahead and hit the set option underneath it to the far right.
I think that is amazing finally a way to break the terrible cropping options the Gallery gave us. At first when PicSpeed released an earlier version the wallpaper would auto resize and mess up the image. They have updated the app since then and I no longer have to re-set the wallpaper on boot. Another bug I noticed is I cannot set a Wallpaper 'properly' with the traditional set wallpaper function my phone offers me, after I use PicSpeed to set a "custom" crop. This is easily fixable. Go into Gallery and the set the wallpaper with PicSpeed (again) with the Wallpaper with the traditional (middle) option. Or you can just reboot your phone, either way works.
Well yeah I just wanted to share this new amazing application with you all . You're welcome all! No more terrible cropping options YAAAAY!

Simpler way
I found that the Galaxy app in the S3 only crops to portrait too. Simplest way I found was to extract the Galaxy2.apk from a Nexus and install it on the S3 (or replace it entirely) and us it to set the background. You then get the portrait and landscape cropping so you can then have a decent scrollable home screen wallpaper.
Ho there gents.

You have to install a different launcher to make the scrollable background work.
May you share that galaxy2.apk please?
Thanks !

I use wallpaper changer to change my wallpaper, doesn't crop and allows for scrollable wallpapers without needing to change anything.
Set wallpaper with Zedge app works great No cropping.

I dont know if this thread is still active, but I have been running into issues lately with pic speed. I have used it for a while (on my original vibrant) but now im getting issues. Im trying set an image as my background and crop it. Works fine. Crops for me I get it smack dab center and everything is nice. I turn on the scroll function because I just want the static image. Spits out the image and my wallpaper is great, but as soon as I turn the phone into landscape mode, regardless if im in an app or not the image gets distorted and its annoying as balls. Can anyone help me out?
No one know about this app

1. choose a live wallpaper for both home and lock screen.
2. go to gallery and choose a plain wallpaper and set it for only homescreen.
sent from: designed for humans
It's not working it saying it will be also the photo for the Lockscreen
I don't that is possible maybe with a special app?

[Q] Changing Lock Screen Wallpaper on T999

I recently rooted my phone and am using the Stockorama ROM. I'm also using Nova Launcher.
I've been wanting to change the wallpaper for my Lock screen, but when I get to the point of choosing which folder to get the picture from
all I get is the "Wallpaper" folder. Now I've looked around many threads/forums and I can't seem to find the answer.
Please help,
Thanks in advance
are you trying to set it from the home screen, or settings?
If you've replaced the launcher it won't give you access to TW gallery from home screen and maybe not settings.
Install quickpic and try it again.

Thanks for the reply, but Quickpic didn't help me.
Is un-rooting my phone the only way to change my lock screen through the Gallery (or anything other than the "Wallpaper" folder) ?
I've seen other rooted phone users online who have this option available to them. It's really frustrating because I feel like
I can't change the settings for something I paid for
I'm running nova launcher and I can change lockscreen wallpaper fine.. it doesn't give you a "set as" option in gallery?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Nova should have nothing to do with the LockScreen. Look under Settings>Security options for it, it is hidden. (I'm on CM10.1 or I'd post exactly where it is.)
Its Settings, Lockscreen actually. You can customize it there, but to set wallpaper go to Settings, Display, Wallpaper, Lockscreen.

Thanks Doc, I knew it was in a weird place, but couldn't remember exactly.
The phone won't let me change the lockscreen image AT ALL. When choosing a picture and selecting "Set As" I get the following options: Contact Photo, Nova Wallpaper, QuickPic wallpaper, Wallpaper.
When I go to Settings -> Display -> -> Wallpaper -> Lockscreen The only "Select wallpaper from" option I get is: Wallpaper (The wallpaper folder of course). Could I have done something wrong when I rooted the phone? I'm pretty new to this after all (A friend rooted my last phone for me).
Are you using the Touchwiz gallery when you do this, or a different gallery like quickpic?

I'm using the Touchwiz gallery, but the same goes for QuickPic.
+1 to the "wallpaper [app??]" ONLY choice, for the lock screen
Any luck with finding the solution? Rooted quite a few devices, so far, but the combo s3+rooted stock kills me - regardless how many picture manipulation apps I tried installing/uninstalling/making defaults (gallery, quickpic among others), when going into settings -> display -> wallpaper -> lockscreen, the only available "app" to use to choose the wallpaper is ... well ... wallpaper. Trying to set up the lockscreen from one of the picture manipulation apps, via "save as", does not work with lockscreen either.
I scanned the device for the string "wallpaper", and there are some folders obscurely placed in /data/data/com.samsung.....wallpaper/.... Maybe I should try to create my own and place them in one of those wallpaper folders??? But there ought to be an easier method, otherwise why would they offer the one mentioned in the paragraph above???
