Desktop doc - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hey there all. I just got my S2 this past week. It's a nice repalcement from my old MyTouch 3G.
I was looking at getting a desktop doc for my work, and was wondering if anyone has seen/gotten this one:
USB Battery Dock Cradle For Samsung Galaxy S2 II i9100 from eBay.
(I'd post the link, but guess I'm still a noob )
It says that it's for the i9100, but I figure ours would fit as well. Also, it will connect to the PC instead of just charging.
It's cheap, but I don't want to toss $10 bucks down the drain if I don't have to.
Thanks

is that slot in back for an extra battery? that is a nice looking dock, but i think the i9100 is smaller?
also, welcome to xda... here's your first thanks!

Yeah, that's what it's supposed to be for. Guess I need to keep looking. I was thinking the i9100, and ours was the same size.

10 bucks?! I only see it for ~$20
I thought the i9100 was bigger? because the T989 is more rounded?
Can anyone confirm because I would love one of these.
I like the samsung one for ours, but dislike how it doesn't charge the phone. It's only a stand and it was $50!

$10.00 eBay HDMI dock

Anyone bought onw of these? Any opinions?

Unless it's complete trash it's hard to beat the price.
It's a re-certified "official" dock (the one you could buy as a Sprint accessory). I bought two of them a while back. One works great, the data wires on the USB plug for the other one has just recently started to flake out. That's fine for me, it still charges and I only need data on the one connected to my PC - the other one sits on my nightstand for charging duties.

Wow, thanks. Guess I'll get one.
Any idea if it would work with an extended battery door? I would like to get a couple for work and home but I use an extended battery and it doesn't say if it will work or not. Any ideas?

It says on the ebay ad that it wont work wore with extended batteries.
"Please note: This docking station has been designed for use with a standard battery and will not work with an extended battery. Cell phone Not included."
OP, good find. Might have to snag one of these up.

Wow...totally missed that one...thanks for the info.
Will it work with a case on the phone?
Nice find! I've always had good luck with refurbished stuff, so I'll try one. Can't beat it for $10, even if it craps out.

I had heard it doesn't, but maybe you wouldn't be afraid to take a dremel to it for only $10?
just got one of these for 7.99, same thing I think. Charging seems very slow, any idea whats up?
The one I looked at was just the dock and no cables. Do I need the dock for HDMI or can I just plug in the cable to it and then to my TV?

Inductive Charging

Hi!
I'm a little noobish when it comes to this and android in general so I apologize in advance
But I was wondering if there are any inductive charging pads that would work with the galaxy nexus? I've got too many cables going on on my desk right now and it would be nice to have the drop and charge type of thing going on
Any help would be nice! Thanks!
Well the Nexus has pogo pins, so I'm waiting for a pogo dock to become available.
Alternatively you could probably mod your Nexus to work with a touchstone.

But we'll have to wait for a while before that comes out in the US
And is that possible? Cuz that would be awesome

That looks a litttttttle complicated for a noob like me
Would powermat or qi pad be a good idea? or would they not even work?

Powermats are great, unfortunately unless your device is a popular one, they more than likely don't make a case for it, in which case you have to use the cube that comes with the powermat to charge your device.
I'm hoping that since the Galaxy nexus will soon launch on Verizon, Powermat will design a case for it that you can just drop onto the mat.
buy one of these and modify it, someone has done this with the samsung i9000

Yep, someone's even done it for the Galaxy Neuxs, check out [H] forum.

Actually looks fairly easy with the large pin solder points. Other phones require soldering to tiny pins.
With the battery cover design, I'd be afraid I'd rip the wiring off every time I pull it open.
LTE EX Galaxy Nexus CM9
Asus Transformer Revolver
I've got this, after a while i'm gonna try this inductive charging, with this spare part i won't have to worry about warranty.
you can see the white dot, one wire goes their, the other will just have to touch the usim card holder, this info is just a replica of one of the links with the i9000, it should be the same.
Galaxy Nexus has the dock pins. Two of three pins are used for power supply. I think is possible to tap into those with the inductive charging stuff.
I think I'll try the 12 dollars kit from ebay . it's just too tempting.

yeh, I know, i just dont want to mess around with the soldering of the original parts, if i do mess up, i can just discard the part in the photo.
Hrm.. rather than soldering, why not use conductive tape? That way it's completely reversible should you need warranty repair.
The contact terminals look large enough for a small square of tape to easily adhere to.

you guys seen these docks?

check out these docks that work for our phones

personally i dont see how the spare battery slot in this one can accommodate BOTH the GSM and LTE version since they are difference size batteries....im guessing it probably just works with GSM batteries, but who knows
first one looks like a for sure win since it looks like there is nothing that would make it not work with a case...anyone ever tried either of these?
I was under the impression that the batteries were just different thicknesses. If that is true, they should still both fit in the charging station.
I just bought the one with the spare battery charger as I have an extended battery on the way and no way to currently charge the back up battery besides a swap, I have the i9250, but as the previous poster said, the thickness shouldnt matter, both batteries are the same sized square, and thats all that matters
I'd definitely be interested in hear how you like the second dock...

I just order the first one i hope my phone fit in it since i have a case on mine, no need for the extended battery charger since i dont have one
www (DOT) ign (DOT) com/articles/2011/12/15/hands-on-with-the-verizon-samsung-galaxy-nexus
Didn't know I can't post outside links. Just replace the (DOT) with "." and it will show you a side-by-side comparison of the CDMA and GSM batteries.
The GSM isn't just slimmer than the CDMA but is taller too so I don't see how the extended charger slot could charge both.
Whoever has purchased it, please update on which battery it fits, thanks!
I ordered both so I'll let you guys know the results when I get em

The battery charger wont work for the Verizon model since the GSM have a differently sized battery...
I like the idea, but I would rather have a dock that takes advantage of the contact points on the side of the phone... I know that the GSM version has a car dock that uses that, but currently in the states we only have the crappy dock without the contact points. Seems like if the phone has it, accessories should be made to take advantage of it.
docks came in, both work with LTE galaxy nexus as long as you dont use a case (which sucks)
and yea just like i said originally, the LTE battery doesnt fit in the slot for the one with the standalone battery charger in it

yeah i got mine today also im sad it didnt work while the phone in the case
Which one do you prefer? The one with the clear plastic backing or the black one? Which supports the phone better, and is there an easy way to access the headphone jack on either?? Thanks!
Guys, has anyone tried the *first* dock on a GSM Nexus with a case on? I have a Samsung Genuine case (adds virtually no bulk)
Cheers.

I dont see why it wouldnt work. Just seems to use the micro usb port. I hope they make a samsung dock that includes an extra battery like they did with the gnex.

According to the Samsung Accessories page they have one
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SGH-T999MBATMB-accessories
Samsung Galaxy S® III Spare Battery Charging System
ETC-CP1G6LGSTA
but it doesn't look like it has a charging port for the phone and the spare battery..
$50 for a desktop dock or a car dock. That is outrageous for a piece of plastic.
I can't decide if I want to buy two docks or wait for an all-in-one option. I want something that will charge the phone, the battery, and have built in line out. Nothing I've seen has all three.
Maybe I'll wait till Jelly Bean comes out with play-through USB feature and just get a clock dock.

Dock or Micro USB cable with audio out

Hi all,
I was looking out for a dock with audio out, but couldn't find one apart from genuine Samsung one, designed for galaxy s3 or older one for note, which will be bigger than needed. Unfortunately dock for infuse 4G would be too small...
I wouldn't mind getting Samsung one, but is pretty expensive for what it does.
Other solution I was thinking of is to get micro usb cable that would have a jack out as well as USB out for charging, plug it into dock and then I would have my audio out. But couldn't find anything to be honest. Does it exist?
I search this forum but found nothing.
Please, could you point me in right direction?

Only ones I've seen are mini USB for HTC phones so you just use a micro USB adapter to plug it in, and I know they also 11 pin cables but I'm betting it won't work.

I've ordered this one, hasn't arrived yet, but it apparently has the goods! I ordered mine from Australian Ebay (.au), not sure if you get the same options.
I can't post a link, but the ebay item title is..
SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 S 3 III GT-I9300 BLACK DESKTOP CASE DOCK MOUNT CRADLE CHARGER
item number 120926076846
Its quite cheap, that's why I'm getting it.. low risk.
Thanks a lot guys! Dock from Australia looks like will do the job and is a lot cheaper then the USA one, although USA one looks nicer. Still both will do same job so I think I will go for cheaper one!
Thanks again for guys!
