[Mod]Wifi calling icon removal - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I built a little flashable to remove the ugly wifi calling icon from the notification bar. Also I built one to reverse it. These should work on any deodexed 2.3.6 rom.

Sweet was on the Juggernaut rom and always wanted to disable it.
Now on the Bombaridier rom and it doesn't have WiFi calling.
Will keep this in mind.

Thanks. Its ugly as heck haha. Learned to deal with it but I guess I don't have to anymore.

Guess there isn't much desire for this. Oh well.

Actually this was very helpful, thanks. Even though I had installed the Clear Glass theme and installed some of my own custom icons for the notification bar, for some reason it didn't occur to me to fix those ugly-ass wi-fi calling icons.
However, I still wanted some icon to appear when on wi-fi calling, so I rigged up my own icons (see attached). Not sure how stylish it is, but I think the phone and mini wi-fi icon combo gets the point across.

You rock

Can you show me how to mod this on my phone running Darkside 2.5.2? Or do you have CWM Flashable zip? Thanks in advance.
I am like you in that I wanted some icon to appear there, just not the usual ugly icon.

NO way dude. I think it might be well received if you make a new icon show up there instead of the usual ugly one.

I could easily replace it, and thoughts on what icon specifically?
Sent from my Hercules with xda Premium.

I think the icon would look fine if it just lost that stupid blue border. I hate icons that don't leave a bit of margin, makes everything look cluttered

As to what icon to use: See the attached thunbnail in post #5 That icon looks good.
Or as the other user suggested, just remove the blue border.

Anyone have a screenshot of OP's icon before I flash?

Enlighten me, why does the rom have to be deodexed? What prevents this from working on a stock rom?
Edit: I flashed it onto my stock non-deodexed rom and it worked just fine.

can you share how to do it or make a flashable?

Any of those look good to people? I quite like the last one personally.

I did some poking around and figured out how to customize my own icons! The color of the bands change to the colors of the original icons depending on WiFi Calling's state.

Please please, provide a flashable zip with new icon....
OR
Can you point me in the direction on how to do this and I'll make one for the community. Thanks.

Those of you wanting to know how to use your own icon;
Open the flashable zip file provided by the OP with a program such as 7-zip (do not unzip the archive if you don't know how to repackage a flashable apk).
Navigate to the folder where the png images are located (*.zip\app\IPService.apk\res\drawable\) and replace them with your own by dragging your png images into the folder, overwriting the existing ones.
Save the modified archive and you're ready to flash.

Thanks a lot, but it only themed the notification bar, it didn't theme anything else. Images on the lockscreen are replaced with silver ones, but the bars aren't invisible. Would you happen to have a link to the walppaper used in the theme? If not, I'll just make one.

The only files that were in his zip that were themed were the settings app and the frameworks, so that's all i transferred over. It says that he themed more apps in his thread but like I said it only had the settings apk in it. If you go to his orginal thread he has links were he ported it from and on one of those links you can find the icon packs.
Here is the wallpaper. Its also in the theme if you use 7zip its the default wallpaper in the drawable-hdpi folder

[THEME] Stevekixs Theme

This is my first time ever putting together a theme. I used UOT kitchen just to put something together. Its just black and blue with honeycomb icons.
I think it still needs some work, I'm not sure how to edit the colors of widgets or apps yet.
I am probably going to make some changes as I get better. If anyone has any advice then feel free to PM me.
Features : Custom Battery Icon
Honeycomb Icons
Black notification bar (transparent background)
Dark Blue overscrolls
Other slight Color changes
Kinda ugly I think... But Im sharing it anyway!
You should be able to flash via CWM.
BACK UP YOUR ROM BEFORE FLASHING JUST IN CASE.
NEW: Just edited some of the colors a bit And changed the battery icon.
Screenshots
(Not updated for new version) I will take new screenshots later. I am tired. The new colors are much better I think.
Changes
Please tell me what you like / dont like.
Looks great besides the battery icon, should be blue like the rest. Great work though and thanks!

Its honeycomb colored. But It changes color when your battery is at different levels.
At full charge it matches the rest of the honeycomb icons.
Im working on some tweaks already. I dont like the color of the pop up screens.
I understand, thanks a million, looks great so far. I'm excited to see where you take it.
Maybe I should research this kitchen stuff and take a shot at themes too!

You can do this by using a program like WinZip or 7Zip to open the APK files (they're effectively just .zip archives with a different extension) and changing the files. Its pretty easy save for the part where you have to make new images. Most images used in Android are .9.png files which need to be nine patched. There are tons of threads all over XDA about how to do this. Check it out, mate.
BTW nice work.

I just stumbled across this thread. The issue is that its not just simple status bar transparency. That's easy, and it's already in the settings menu in ROM Control for AOKP. With MIUI though, you can have the status bar as totally transparent when viewing the launcher/desktop, but it's not transparent, or it's semi-transparent when you are viewing apps like the browser or when viewing the lock screen. So the question is, how could one implement different status bar settings for different views as it is implemented in MIUI?

I was really just trying to find a way to implement a clear status bar on the desk top/launcher on GB aosp roms (specifically, on decks reloaded.) I wasn't so concerned with the status bar in apps, browser, etc. I've tried uot kitchen which was mentioned above, but wasnt successful. as to why it wouldn't work, I don't know.

as i said in the pm's i really think its the way the statusbar is incorporated in the rom, best bet would to be ask in the rom thread that way a developer could give the right answer instead of me guessing at it.... lol im guessing the thread you found didnt work either?

Yes there is. Google search pvyparts battery bar. He wrote an app that does this. Only downside is that u have to edit ur systemui to get it to work. Since every rom is different its hard to make it flash able due to didferent systemui.apks. this is the battery bar mod I added to my cm9 rom.

we are actually talking about the statusbar and making it transparent. in reloaded there is an app for the battery bar and is simple to adjust. but in the rom it has a ICS-like statusbar (all black with the ics-blue signal bars and battery icon and what not). What atljatl is wanting is the entire statusbar to be transparent. Like in the miui and some sense roms that have had the flashable zips to make transparent statusbar.
Gotcha. That is a simple mod in the systemui.apk. just changed either the icon or xml backgroubd to transparent. Again I'm mobile so can't do it fir u right now but will when I get home if ud like

Use some kind of apk manager or 7zip to edit the file. Go to mipmap-hdpi and replace/change the icon in their. There can sometimes be multiple icons in that folder. Also, some apps have the icon in drwable-hdpi called icon.PNG or ic_launcher_(name of app)

For this, we need two apps, one is called Ninjamorph and the other is called Root Explorer. If anyone is interested in doing this, I could make a small guide.
