[Q] Camera settings - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Why does the camera set the settings on 0.3 megapixels instead of 5 mpx (which is the maximum). I just found this out and I havn't changed anything in the settings by my own.
You guys should look it up since the device does it by itself.

Is that so? Mine never did that... I'm curious now: does it change it back to 0.3MP when you set it in 5MP?

Not sure if this explains it, but I've noticed that if you switch to the front facing camera to take a picture, then switch back to the main camera, the resolution setting stays at the maximum resolution of the front facing camera (640x480) and you have to manually change it back to 5MP.

Mine doesn't have that problem.

[Q] Camera MP quality Question???

ok i have the Stock camera app set at 8mp 3264x1952 and quality HIGH. Thing is i notice when i take the pics and look at them on my comp they are only showing around 1.4MP for each photo. Is this normal? with the Vigntte app i can get the camera to take about a 4-5mp photo(with the settings on that turned to 8mp high also).
Did i set someting in the setting wrong? or do the camera naturally do this?

[Q] Camera problems

Hello!
I need some assistance regarding the HOX stock camera app.
You see, the photos i tace with the One X turns out really bad.
My old (old, old, old) iPhone 3GS kicks this one's ass.
The images turns out grainy and low res. It's set to 8mpx and all settings are stock.
Now i thought it was a hardware problem but when trying other camera apps souch as Camera Zoom FX they turn out pretty great.
The stock camera app pictures is about 1.5-1.7 mb while the Camera Zoom fx are at a natural ca 3.5mb.
Photo taken with stock camera app: 8mpx: http://oi45.tinypic.com/n2odar.jpg
Photo taken with Camera Zoom FX, 8mpx: http://oi48.tinypic.com/i5ver8.jpg
HOX stock: http://oi49.tinypic.com/21dizcx.jpg
Camera Zoom FX: http://oi48.tinypic.com/315cvg0.jpg
What could be causing this problem, or should I simply return it?
Do you have the stock camera app 8mp set to 16:9 or 4:3 format? I noticed with my own testing that the 16:9 format uses less of the sensor and you dont get full 8mp images resulting in lower image size. The 4:3 format is getting me 2.8mb+ image size.

You seem to have already answered your first question, and as to whether to return it or not because the stock camera app over compresses images, well, up to you.
Stock cam app compresses so you can have burst mode. Third party apps don't have the same speed as stock camera, but compensates with quality. And no, even with the stock app, the 3GS camera is worse.
harlz: I've tried both. 4:3 gives me a slightly better image.
I'ts strange thoug. Yesterday I rebooted the phone and took a picture, the screen was black for about 3 sek and then it took a photo that was just amazingly good. I took about tree more great pictures that ended up on ca 4mb. But now. I'm down to about 2mb and the images just looks like crap.
What could be causing this? Is anyone experiencing something like this?

I wish I was. But if you look at the picture Its not. Niether is any of the other bad pictures. I made a thread at swedroid and people are experiencing this as well.

camera

I have found that the upper camera is 12 MP while the sub is 5 MP however the camera apps is using the subcamera (used my finger on both camera to know which camera is used)
Is this normal?

Its the same as mine and I think its normal.
Same for me, but when I check photo's details, it shows me 12MP, so, I think it's normal too.
i think its used for focus
In theory, the second camera is used for focus and to give the photos a greater depth of field effect. But trying it myself, with stock, A2 camera, gcam and a couple other apps. I didn't find any difference between pictures shot normal or covering the secondary camera with my finger. Which makes me wonder if the secondary camera actually does something. I'd like to hear from someone who actually knows this stuff, not from me, who knows nothing

No. Only OP5 users can switch to tele lens.

Ok but, anyway, is 20mpx camera exploited by gcam to get better photo in some way or only the 16mpx cam is used in every situation so 20mpx is never "powered on"?

In OOS 20MP camera is used only in auto mode and portrait to detect depth. It shoots 20MP photo then magic OP software interpolate it to lower res to "improve quality and decrease noise" and then i don't know why, extrapolates that image back to 20MP. If i'm right it is written in camera HAL so we can't do nothing with it... Test it by Yourself, just type *#*#1597#*#* in dialer and take photo with "tele" and "wide" in sunny day.
I'm not sure 100% about it, correct me if i'm wrong.

Dialer? Why using dialer to take photo?
@rmroot You use dialer to input this code I wrote earlier. It opens camera app which now allows You to switch lenses manually.

Question Pixel 6 pro selfie camera (ISSUE)

I have no option for the .7x wide-screen on selfie camera.
Can zoom from x1 upto x4 but no wide-screen using .7
Can idea guys?
Your camera app looks different to mine. I don't have a zoom slider only buttons.
My camera app version: 8.4.167.404335983.10
Perhaps try cleairng app data and checking if there's updates
Is that camera all the way down to 0.7x? I understood that to just be for the outward facing camera at 114 degrees. The video conferencing camera is only 94 degrees, so not as wide. Mine shows me zoom down to 0.9.
The HAL says: android.control.zoomRatioRange [0.84999305 10.00000000 ]
Looks like you also have some kind of night mode switched on. I wonder if that changes the limits?

I'm also on same app version as you. Have cleared cache and force stopped camera app, & looked for any update, but I'm on latest version.
Still not fixed issue, so still no .7 on front camera for stills or video. It's a slider that goes from x1 to 4x
Thanks anyway

No it's not on 0.7x it will only adjust from x1 upto x4 on front camera, so I'm missing the 0.7x. This is on both the stills & video on front camera, and also uses a slider rather than buttons?
It's running latest camera app version & I've forced stopped the camera app and cleared cache but still set the same, strange one.
I've tried with & without night sight settings but same either way.

You completely missed what I said. It SHOULD NOT read 0.7x for anyone EVER because that camera has a range of 0.85 to 10.0. That means it will read as 0.9 to 10.0 (rounded to 1 decimal point).
The "away" facing wide angle camera has a greater range; [0.67044258 20.00000000 ]
Try the grapheneOS camera application: https://github.com/GrapheneOS/platform_external_Camera/raw/12/prebuilt/Camera.apk
Is it a Pixel 6? It has no wide selfie

Get in touch with the Google support team. They should be able to replace your phone with a new one. The replacement may not arrived soon though.

Yours is right, mine is wrong. But I can't seem to fix the problem.
Have you had the software update yet that added some features?
I had 1 software update out the box which I installed.
I'm using the latest camera build version 8.4.167.404335983.10
I uninstalled the camera app & reinstalled, also done hard reset pressing power & volume up for 10 seconds, but still have same issue!
If the video conferencing camera reads 0.7 in the google camera application, they're probably mucking with the readings. The HAL *does not* have that ratio.
I have the same issue, had an update this morning. The gesture bar at the bottom is gone and the camera interface has a slider rather than 0.7, 1, 4 etc!
I've realised that on both of our pixels having selfie video in time lapse mode crashes the app

Do you think they will fix it? I gather they did that to make switching between lens seamless!
