[Q] Sense 3.0 on stock 2.3? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
is it possible to install Sense 3.0 on a stock (rooted+s-off) HTC Desire 2.3? I didn't find anything.. I'm searching for a CWM flashable package without having to flash a whole rom..
Regards

nope, you can back up app data with many apps
stock you mean stock partitions layout or stock rom?

No you need an entire Rom. There is no generic sense patch to update only sense

I meant stock rom.. sorry.. It's a pity, that there is no patch for that.. I tried many roms and always something was there that I didn't like.. But one thing I liked very much is the sense 3.x interface.. Thanks for your answers!

Are you just using the stock Desire Z ROM or a custom ROM?

I can't say for certain that these will work with the stock ROM, but they are your best bet.
UnityV4
Virtuous Sense a7
Have you conisidered try a custom ROM? if you want to keep it as stock as possible I recommended Virtuous Sense 2.0
Try unity v4 kernel, its for all sense based runs. Let's you OC up to 1.7 ghz. Link is in my signature.

Thanks a lot ill try them both...
I don't actually want to try a custom ROM right now, as i really like the stock one as it is. I may well try that one though when im bored of it! Is that sense 2.1 or just 2.0?

It is sense 2.1, it is based off the official 2.3.3 DZ update, think of it as what you have all ready but with optimizations.
Oh and welcome to the DZ forums.

That is correct, download rom manager, flash CWM, boot in to CWM and flash .zip
Easy, but if you need anymore help, hop over to the Virtuous Rom IRC and I will be happy to talk you through it

There is a way but I'm very well versed in how to do it. If you read the DZ/G2 wiki it links you to a guide on to root 2.3.3.
if you need further help head to the 'G2ROOT IRC channel
I updated to the 2.3.3 OTA too, and I followed this guide here :

Worked perfectly well

2 Questions about HTC Desire

Hi guys, just had 2 questions in mind:
1: Is it possible to get the HTC Locations App on the desire?? if so which rom?
2: If you use a 2.2 Froyo Sence apk backed up from titanium on a 2.3 gingerbread rom, will it work? or cause problems?
Thanks
p.s. sorry if these questions are already answers, links to answers would also be appreciated if so.

1) Not sure about other ROM's, but on my Cool3D AceS ROM I've got the locations app.
2) Not sure.
IF you back up and restore application then it is okay.
If you back up and restore system then it will cause problem..
I use titanium back up and no problem when restore application.

Sense WILL NOT work on an AOSP ROM.

1. Any Sense 2.1/3.0/3.5 roms should have it either preinstalled or as a flashable zip. I have it on Cool3D AceS v2a.
2. If you try restoring Sense on a AOSP 2.3 rom, it will not work as AOSP roms do not have the required framework.
Is it possible to get the locations app to work on a non sense rom? If so does anyone have it? I'm running on 2.2 oxygen rom. Rooted with s-off. Thanks
AFAIK it's not possible.
Don't try restoring system apks from one rom to another. You may do this only in one version of the same rom, because system apks use there own frameworks, which may not be compatible in different roms and they are in 95% of cases.

I know how to install them,i asked a different thing.
Sense is basically an HTC version of Android. AOSP is stock Google android. You cannot flash anything for AOSP on a Sense rom.

I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but have you tried Ignorance (which is stock rom plus some tweaks)?

I think your answer is absolutely appropriate in this case. Some modified stock ROMs are really comparable with the genuine one. In addition to Ignorance (really nice one) I would mention myOneV, mySense, HTCdroid. There are more for sure. You just have to try...
Thank's

You can flash any OneV ROM you want, but remember to wipe everything except SD card before flashing ROM different than is installed. And yes, you will lose everything personal - data, apps, etc.
