is this for real has anybody tried it?

Even if it doesn't, small price for a spare battery
Try browsing through the ebay feedback for that seller.

I bought this one and it definitely has extended the battery life for me, I can go a whole day of whatsapping and calling my gf without having to charge it at work....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190598210396

i bought a "2430 mAh" battery from a hong kongese ebay seller and it definitely is not better than the original 1600 mAh, but it only cost 8 euro so whatever...

I bought this one months ago and love it, it is big but it lasts for 2 days.

I liked it so much I made a thread just for it. Many people have purchased the above battery and love it as well. Here is the thread if you are interested, I am not trying to thread jack just wanted to share what I have found.

How long do you estimate you could run games like n64roms or 3d games like gta 3?

Just bought this as I can't find any of the BST-41 2430mah gold batteries anywhere atm. Hopefully it's decent

I had a 1950mha battery in the same size as the stock battery... nothing but bad luck. Phone was on crack. Glitchey and lagging. Then I read that you can cram a higher mha battery inside a stock battery for a phone per se. But then what happens is the battery gets hotter (which that one did) and with the additional heat comes a faster discharge rate, and a overall shorter life span of the battery as it cant stay cool. And with the higher heat will also make your phone hotter

Anyone tried the 2300mAh ebay battery, yet? At $11, I almost want to risk it, but I'd really like to know if anyone else has had experience with it, first. The one I'm currently looking at is eBay item 300832163583 (I'm too new to be able to post links).

Umm... Maybe. It doesn't say "Gold Battery," but it says "Golden Standby Battery."
Apparently, it's made by a Hong Kong company called Kinps. It's very prominently branded, at least in the picture.

Alright, well that makes me feel not quite as uneasy about trying it out. I looked at the ebay feedback, and I only saw a few negatives for the battery as opposed to ten or so positives, so it might be okay.
This one doesn't look gold-colored though; it's white, purple, and orange.

I bought these yellow/red-on-white ones and they are very stable and give some juice to my Play (they're rated @ 3600mAh). For me in a cROM like KXP for XPlay with Turbo Kernel JB/ICS r12 lasts around 2 days at normal use, I really pushed these batteries to the limit (and my Play too btw) by overclocking @ 2GHz playing NFS: Most Wanted (this game is very hard on resources and CPU) and they didn't explode lol
I have them since June 2012 and they're in good shape right now.
You can try them if you like. :good:

Oh, no, I really, really don't want the deeper battery cover. First, I'd lose my beautiful, blue AT&T rear cover, and second, I wouldn't be able to use my dock! Well, not without switching back to the stock battery, anyway. And that kind of defeats the purpose of using the dock as my charger.

Eh, I'm starting to reconsider the extended back thing. Yesterday, I managed to pull off a full 24 hours on the stock battery. Today, I've only managed about 12. The difference? Today I had about a two hour session of Chip's Challenge on aLynx, haha. So, I'm pretty much draining half or more of my battery capacity just from a couple hours of Lynx emulation. Even if the battery I'm considering does have a capacity of 2300mah, I'm thinking I'd probably want over 3000mah if I keep up this kind of gaming habit. So, I guess I'm considering the 3500mah battery with extended cover from California, now.
I'll only miss having the back in a matching color a bit, but I really wish I could still use it with my dock. Do you guys think the phone would fit well on the dock with the battery installed if I removed the battery cover first?
EDIT: No, I don't think it would fit on the dock at all. I just tried with my stock battery cover off to see where the battery lines up, and it still comes below the lip on the dock. This is a really tough choice.

Gold 2450mAh battery from ebay

Just wanted to report in with my experience of these large capacity batteries.
I purchased 2 of them along with a generic external charger and they are far better than the stock ones.
Currently been going for 48 hours and still at 25%. I was struggling to get 12 hours out of the stock battery.
They seem like reasonable quality and for around 10AUD each they are decent value. They fit under the stock cover too which is a bonus.
Anyone else using these?

Sounds suspicious. 3 posts advertising a battery w/o any detailed information? Post some pics with the battery in your sgs2 and also post screenshots of your battery stats.

I bought 1 too, thinking it was only a stock battery or a cheaper one with beautiful wrapping and it surprised me. Last way much longer than usual one and yes it fit under stock cover.

Thanks for this info ! Would you post some pictures of the battery itself and some of usage stats , please ?
Most likely it is fake. Recently I bought 'gold' battery for my old SE K800 from ebay. Printed capacity on label was almost double than original battery but in fact real capacity was half of original. So, returned to seller and lost shipping costs only.
Unfortunately physics is in full force for batteries: at the moment larger capacity can be achieved only by more or larger sells!!!
I'm actually MORE than happy with original Samsung 2000MAh battery. I would NEVER put a fake or low quality battery close to my face.

Well that confirms all these uprated batteries are in fact rubbish with the exception of the much larger 3500mah one and even that was nowhere near the stated 3500mah rating
The gold batteries from Ebay are all fake. Don't waste your time. Peel off the gold cover, under it, you'll find an under powered rating.this batteries have already been discussed at xda over and over with picture evidences to show they are fake. Go buy a jaguar for 10 bucks and tell me it's real.

I just bought one from ebay too. A gold 2450 mAh battery.
After I received it I put it in the mobile and battery snap from the market tells me the same remaining time as the stock 1650 mAh battery.. Then I peeled off the gold wrapper and underneath I found this inprint "HD504655AR 11K08NF1650".. 1650 ?? Strange coincidence ...
I opend a case with ebay requesting my money back because this looks like a fraud. I'll have to wait several days for it to close, but I will tell you how it ended...
I can only tell you that I should have read the posts here about the "gold" batteries.. Damn fakes!
Ok, so can anyone tell me how to identify a genuine Samsung battery?
My phone came with a battery that looks almost identical to eBay item 110825200405, except that mine says "Finished in Vietnam" and the recycle symbol is a bit different.
The supposedly genuine batteries on eBay (e.g. eBay item 140704498924) look quite different.
I got my phone from Orange/Partner in Israel and I'm wondering if they are using cheap aftermarket batteries to save money. Anyway, I want to buy a spare but I want to make sure that I'm getting my moneys worth for a battery that has the actual marked capacity and that will last.
Thanks.
Glad to trade abt the gold batteries here. I was abt to use a pair for myself
"Gold Batteries"
Bump.
I was about to post a big thing with a battery log that I kept for the first 5 charges of my new "Gold" battery along with how unimpressed I was and that it didnt seem any better than my stock 1250mAh. The new battery was supposedly 2450mAh. after reading the post 2 posts above mine I decided to remove the gold foil to look at the stamps on mine. I see nothing to indicate the mAh capacity on mine but after using it for a month I can say for sure that it is no better than my stock battery. I am not going to file it with ebay or anything but it sure seems like there are a lot of fakes out there. Mine came from Ghuang Dong china or something like that... lol. Anyway I only paid 6.99$ with no shipping and have a functional spare battery now so, oh well. Lesson learned. Figured I'd give my 2 cents.

my 2 bits worth
Just got the ebay GOLD (haha) battery as well but paid like 4 bux for it - FWIW it seems to hold a charge longer though it charges lightning fast which leads me to believe that it is indeed not 2450mah
After having done a bit of research, mah is a tricky thing to verify - can be done with a multimeter BUT there is a device called a battery-analyzer that does the trick. So these ppl that sell the possibly fraud batteries have tapped a great market: people (mostly) without the gear or know-how to check the quality of the goods!
regardless i needed a second battery so no loss for me. Now if it explodes or something I will report here first and I will not leave my 5star feedback for the "gold battery people" just yet
UPDATE
***so the gold battery performance is incredibly poor - last less and less time with each charge***
I'd advise anyone to absolutely not bother with one of these

the 2000mah is a bit bigger (that is why it needs a new cover plate)
I have an 1800mah (also a bit bigger) but fits nicely in the phone.

Replacement battery owners wanted

Hi ive seen various threads on various batteries but im very interested in these 2300mah and 1950mah standard size batteries on ebay. Anyone had any hands on experience of these and if so are they anygood?
A short comparison to the standard sony 1500mah would be great
Not interested in mugen too expensive for me and i already own a 2600 mah cheapy which is great but too big and ugly.
Anyone tried these out?

Look up gtmax 1780mah xperia play battery on amazon. I'd post the link if I could.
Best deal on an extended battery. Significant increase in battery life, fits with the stock battery cover, and its only $5. It's what I have.
I know you don't want to hear about Mugen Power...
But I will tell you anyway that I have a Mugen Power battery and it gives my phone a full 20 hours of battery life. This is 20 hours of playstation emulation, web browsing, GPS and other forms of very intense use.
This battery is worth every single dollar I spent on it. I makes the phone and consequently me 100% independent of car chargers, wall chargers and other such obstructions.
It is very liberating to know that when I walk out that door in the morning, I can depend on this phone for the entire day. Give the mugen power another look.
I purchased this 2600mah battery from batterybay.net and I simply love it. It works so much better the nthe 1950mah battery I got from Ebay earlier this month. I get a day and half on this thing. And I am a heavy user, lots of gaming and internet usage. This thing was $17 with free shipping, but be warned it took mine 3 weeks to get to me. Either way I totally love this battery. I have not had to charge my phone during the day in weeks, I charge it when I got to bed of course. But Ih ave never had the battery less that 60% at the end of the day.
http://www.batterybay.net/Extended-...n-Xperia-Play-p/sony ericsson -cs-er800bl.htm
but youre still missing the point that he wanted a battery without an extra back cover.
I really don't get some of these requests? A lot of people seem to want a battery that's superior to the stock one, but don't want any extra size, any extra weight and want it very very cheap. If this battery existed, don't you think Sony would have put it in the phone already? Why not contact Sony about your battery concerns? I'm not trying to be rude at all, but until battery technology proceeds further, we have to do what we can with what we have. The big Mugen battery (which I have and use) adds about 6 millimeters in thickness and an ounce or two in weight. My old Nokia 6620 was bigger than this bone stock!! The Mugen was bigger at first for sure but now I don't even notice at all. The massive increase in battery life was more than worth it. Until technology grows, you can't have a battery that's thin, small, light, has a huge capacity and is super cheap. Even with a slightly bigger battery, these phones are still smaller than what we were using just a little while ago.
Cheers for all your feedback, i guess these batteries on ebay are to good to be true. I just thought with technology moving on at such a rate and the 2300mah claims there making these might be a new improved type of slim battery and the purpose of this thread was to see what experiences people who have USED these batteries have had, good, bad or ugly. Its not really for people to guess how they perform and type stuff like you only get what u pay for blah blah... I can guess myself, i wanted some hands on info. I already own a big replacement battery which works great but turns my sleek xperia play into something from the 1990s! Not being rude just trying to get this back on track. Ill try one of these slim 2300mah batteries myself soon im just skint at the moment so i was doing some research first. Ive read a few threads before creating this and it does seem theres alot of people with opinions on these cheap batteries but i dont hear much from people who have actually used them.

And it seemed t owork very well for a few days but after that my phone was glitching out constantly. Games were slow and would stutter. I later found out that the battery's output was not consistent. Thus causing issues with the phones performance. I then found the site I bought my current battery from and even though its a beast the increase in battery is totally worth it. I had to give up my otterbox case for this battery and i have qualms with that. ITs too bad you cant get a battery with extra umph in it and keep the same size. IF you do find something liek that remember that the battery will be hotter then normal and the heat will decrease the life of the battery and the length of time it can hold a charge for.
Nice info. That was one of the batteries i was looking at too... Cheers for that

Does the thicker battery case help with gripping the phone while playing? I don't have any problems holding it, but having that extra grip can't hurt.
To be honest I was afraid of the thickbess of the phone with the new battery cover. But I have found that the thickness does not bother me and when I slide open the controlls to play a game the phone due to the added thickness is a lot more comfortable and I have been able to play for longer periods of time then I could have prior to getting this battery.

Well there is of coarse the posibility of using nuclear power fushion for the battery cells i estimate the eqashion of +2#2.0-#+100=0.11111.000 should be enough power to last one light year of battery use. Oh and no extended back cover will be needed. And i recommend that you do not use your phone to the ear for long periods the sars levels might be slightly high due to the power source.Oh sorry i forgot to mention you need to wear a radiation suit at all times when using the phone and last ov all you must have a 3 mile radius evacuation in place when making a phone call (So there will be no one around to make local calls to i guess). That's about it i think hope i never missed anything out and i hope i was of some help.

Could you try the Otterbox without the battery cover and tell me if it would fit the thicker battery? Perhaps with the rubbery skin cut under the black shell? I can't because I filed off the clips that attach elsewhere. I basically want to buy a second stock battery door and cut a rectangle in it and, if needed, the rubber for the extended battery to extend into the Otterbox Commuter. I wouldn't want to go without the battery door entirely because it wouldn't route the audio correctly and there is also a gap between the camera and flash which water and other contaminates can freely enter.

Ive also searched through each of the threads, and found nothign specific to my query.
I was looking for someone who has used both of these batteries and can tell if there is a significant benfit in jumping to the official 2000mah from the 1900 Ankher.

Hi mate, fancy seeing you in a place like this.
Yea, moved on since my Symbian days & never been happier. Symbian was great in it's day but was spoiled by slow operating system & crap build quality. First got the Galaxy S & was delighted with it, so now moved up to the S2. Love this phone.
Nice to meet you again.
Better stop now or I will be accused of going off topic. See you soon.
Ankers are not 1900mah but 1600 or 1650 (dont remember for sure but this is what's printed on the cell under the anker wrapping). It's also confrmed by the fact that anker battery lasts same as stock samsung battery. Based on that official 2000mah should last longer but I never had one to confirm from personal experience . Howevet I'm very happy with 2 anker batteries and desktop sharger that I bought for 1/3 of price of official 2000mah battety. 95% of times I swap batteries instead of charging phone. My case is hybrid silicone / hard plastic. I removed stock battery cover plate as case covers the back anyway. When the battery runs down it takes me 10 secs to swap it + with 3 batteries(4800mah) I have 2.5 times more power then extended bat.
Arrived this morning the extended battery. Firt impressions.
I think i prefer the thickness of the phone now. One plus point is that the Camera area now has some protection when itslaid on its back, Isn't being laid straight on the lens.
The heavyness of the phone. Not sure, oesn't seem that heavy to me, but then, i had a Sony Ericsson X10i before this, so its probably on parr with that on weight
Will fully charge it up, and see how i get on.

Will fully charge it up, and see how i get on.

What about overheating with the samsung new battery? My phone overheats even on running basic HD games on the default battery. Shucks I know. I am thinking of getting hands on 2000 battery but I will not buy it if it has the same overheat problems because I've heard that Anker battery doesn't cause much overheat issues.
1 day 2 hours. 52% battery left. Rom & Kernel setup in my sig!

of course it gets warm you're running something processor/graphics intensive..... And if you think a cheap Anker battery is going to be better than an OEM battery you're a fool.

The anker batteries are high quality...Even when i run games such as 9mm or PES 2012 the phone never over-heats. And the surprising amount of extra battery life whilst keeping the same size is really amazing. So don't go talking about things that you know nothing about. And if your still going to fight me on this then maybe you should check some of the reviews on amazon about it then maybe you could come to your sense and not call it " a cheap Anker battery".
I mean no offence with this but I'm tired of people talking about something whilst not knowing anything about it.
so call me a fool then i guess
I am using the 1900mAh Anker batteries and based on my experience they do last longer compared to the stock 1650mAh. And yes there is no phone heating issues at all.
but hey this is just me sharing my experience. you can call it cheap, because the price really is, $20 dollars for two of them. Cheap when it comes to price, but quality-wise then its worth every cent i paid for. Again this is just me. Maybe the gadget gurus know better if they have tried them

[Q] Ecell - GOLD 2430MAH BATTERY FOR SONY ERICSSON XPERIA PLAY

Has anyone tried this Ecell 2430MAH battery ?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ecell-2430M...5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1326647685&sr=1-5
Still not even lasting a day with the stock battery. (GTmax one was better).
If this is junk think I will just get the 1800 Mugen Power one.
(I think the performance of the stock battery is horrendous - perhaps I was defrauded by shop I bought it from (One of the staff needed a new one so swapped theirs for mine etc. Never buy from Dial A Phone).
This was posted on my thread for the 2600mha battery. From what I make if it stay away from ecell. Here is the link. This is not from me but from another user on xda. I am simply pasting the link he provided.

I bought a case for my Xperia play from them and it's seriously the best £2.50 I've spent in a long time. I've tried 4 cases ranging from the obscenely expensive to the acceptably cheap and their case is by far the best. Easy clip on, easy take off (though it wont ever come off by accident) and it feels/looks very nice.
Cannot recommend it enough, especially after seeing all the negative reviews for every other case in existence for the play.
HOWEVER - this was my first experience buying from Ecell and all was well and good. Unfortunately, hundreds other people have had DREADFUL experiences with them, ranging from fake sd cards to tampered/used/busted phones being delivered and even negligence towards contemporary buyer/seller code and morals.
http://fotios.org/node/2173
I suggest you visit that link and consider carefully before purchasing the battery. I too was thinking of buying that battery but was turned off by the comments in that link.
If you do decide to buy it, let me know if it's worth it please!
EDIT: LOL jgregoryj1 beat me to it
E-Cell are a bit hit and miss, had some good and bad experiences with them, Looked at that exact battery for my play but just looks too good to be true in my opinion
Brought a case from them and it arrived in 2 days. Great case for the play too
But then again once brought a Motorola Milestone from them which took 3 weeks to arrive and came all in chinese. So like I said, the companies very hit and miss. So you take the chance with anything you buy with them
Saying that, Unlike some other people, I think the stock battery on the play is bloody marvellous. Really appreciate it after the crappy 1230mAH battery I had in my last phone - the HD7. You were lucky to get half a day out of that.

I agree. I love the battery on mine. I can get a full day using whatever I want on whatever brightness I want, using whatever connection utility i want and still have some left over by the time I get to bed. I use tunein radio on it when I go to sleep so it's plugged in all night anyway!
yeah i actually found this link "http://fotios.org/node/2173" whilst looking for other vendors selling that battery after i saw the posts about it in the battery thread. They seem fine with cheap items and bad with anything +100 dollars from what people are saying on that forum.
I ended up getting the mugen 3600 myself, but i thought id post up the link so people here could make their own informed decisions, if anyone does buy it, please post and let us know how it goes, i think alot of people would be keen for a bigger stock battery at that bargain price(if it works).
seems like a gold phone bomb atm to me though

and what do you mean....is there really an improvement of 830mha to the stock batterie?
I also got an gold ecell batterie for my "old" lg optimus speed.
I think i saw an improvement of the battery (1500 mhA Stock to 2430 mhA from Ecell)....
The improvement was ~15-20 % more power i think.

Nice, and it has an extended cover. I heard I other threads that there wasn't a extended cover. Anyone here tried the e-cell 3600mAh and the cover? Also, is the mAh increase picked up by the phone automatically, or will I have to tweak a build prop?
Sent from my PD_Novel using xda premium
I have a gt max (?) 3600mah battery and the phone seems to pick up the battery capacity with no problem. Of course, your experience may differ from mine due to differences in batteries.
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
i have also an 3600mha battery for my r800i and the duration icreased to about 50%.
The extended cover is really nice and fits perfectly. the only problem with the extended cover is, that it squeaks.
The extended cover also improve the gameplay with the xperia play because with the thicker back you can play really good with the gamepad.

How's the mugen 1800 battery?

I have heard mixed things about batteries that keep the same format as the original, but this is mugen... I'm expecting quality.
I would buy a larger battery it a bigger cover existed though

I have it and i can say, it gives u about 20-25 % more of battery than standard. Not bad at all. And for 25 dollars, i think it 's a good price

I have the Mugen Power Battery and i must say it is working well. The extra juice of 300 mAh gives you about 1h more of gaming time ,this means 4 hours instead of 3 hours with standard battery (maximum brightness, no overclocking). With overclocking to 1.5GHZ you will get 3 hours of game time. Battery fits good into the battery slot but it's not as easy to get it in or out of the slot as like the normal one. But thats okay. No problems with the original backcover. You can get one at their official site, just google it. It is safe and you get your package in about 2 weeks normally because it ships from Hong Kong. Or you find a shop which offers Mugen Power Batteries. Remember that the Battery for Xperia X1, Xperia X2 and Xperia X10 share the same battery size.
I have been using mine for a few weeks and I get 5 hours of screen time and like 12 idle(heavy use)
light usage I can't get like 40 hours
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like a pretty good upgrade.
Well, my first day with the Mugen 1800. :victory:
Right now seems the battery drains much slower than before but it's somewhat difficult to put in place because it fits tighter than the original one. Even I was feared of breaking something while I was trying to put it inside, lol.
So guys, since Mugen Power is having a Countdown discount this Christmas, can anyone make another comment on their 1800mAh batteries for the Xperia PLAY after months/weeks of using it? I might be getting one in the next few hours and I want to make sure I'm not shelling out dollars for a crap battery. I know Mugen has a good rep but reviews talk better. Please guys, say something, convince me!
It's the best battery I have ever seen, it constantly holds like 20% more than the stock, even after 6 months.
You need to be rooted to modify a few settings btw.
It's expensive but if you got the extra money and need more charge, then absolutely go for it.
I constantly got 5+hours of screen time
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
And by screen time you mean?
I'm thinking of buying because I think the stock battery is already losing its former juice. It already easily drains 8-10% of juice by just fiddling through SMS conversations. Jeez. Additionally, after I full charge the battery and leave it idle for about 30 minutes, the percentage usually just drops to a whopping 74%. That ain't healthy anymore, right?
I've been using genuine MSM.HK batteries before and they are the best I think. So this is basically my first time to buy and use a Mugen battery.
Screen time means the time that the screen is on.
Normally that's just browsing and chatting etc, gaming time is obviously less but still better than stock.
That is a lot of drain though maybe some rogue app is eating your cpu
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
After months of use, i'd say that with 1800mah battery you gain about 20-25 % battery. Not bad, especially for just 24 dollars (i guess less, with these days discount)
If there's one rogue app that keeps running in the background even it was already closed, it would be Camera360. The app is awesome I think especially with the Magic Skin that I rarely see in a camera app so I basically cannot give up the app at the moment.
Now I'm thinking twice. 20-25% more battery cap at $30? I can't really decide because I could easily get a same (or even better) quality genuine MSM.HK battery at stock mAh for a measly $6 at a local battery shop that I can get to in under 30 minutes. Jeez, I'm confused.
PS, it appears $31.95 for me, minus 7% holiday discount so that would be $29.71.

For some heavy use the Mugen gives you more confidence with its adittional 20%. I love don't be worried about if my battery will last until I arrive home.
If you usually don't have problems with the stock battery capacity then go for a normal, cheaper replace.
I've heard good reviews for mugen batteries but personally I wouldn't spend that much for a small upgrade.
Yeah @LordBattleBeard, I've thought of that, too.
I actually bought yesterday a genuine MSM.HK BST-41 1500mAh for my Xperia PLAY and I'd say at same mAh, it outperforms my stock battery. No more questionable drains, temps stay constantly at 25 degrees Celsius even while gaming, and playing for 1.5 to 2 hours now only slashes about 15% of juice. I say I just made myself a good deal.
Thanks anyway, everyone, for your insights on the Mugen 1800mAh.

In the same kind of boat and stuck between the two. Was going to get the BST-41 but was worried by one massive thing, my current battery, not sure about everybody elses, is a Li-ion battery and the BST-41 is a Li-Polymer. Should I be worried or should I just take the plunge?
I think it's just fine. Most handhelds today use Li-Ion alongside Li-Po, and vice versa. I honestly didn't even know that BST-41 was Li-Po until you posted it and I actually had to look at my Play's original battery to confirm.
As for their difference, here are good posts to read:
