Nitro is not available in St Pete, FL - LG Nitro HD

I went into all ATT, BestBuy and RadioShack around the town and none had LG Nitro. In BestBuy they don't even have a mokup and guy I talked to thought the phone is not out yet.
So I was wondering, why is that? Maybe it's because the phone is so f.up hardware wise, and we should expect a recall?

AT&T is being quite funny about the Nitro. I ran into the same problem with it in Boston when it came out. No one had a display model or stock. I had to call around to 5 stores before I found one. No clue why that is.

Why what's wrong with the Nitro hardware-wise?

The AT&T store is the only one local that has it in stock. I bought mine at Best Buy, but it was a special order. Dunno why they aren't pushing the Nitro. What is messed up hardware wise?

Broken compass is a huge blow (for me), mic in headset that works on 4 different android phones doesn't work on nitro, notifications also don't play through headset.
Horrible battery life if you use phone more then just keeping it in standby. Oh and have usb port on top - is a nonsense!

Don't you already have the phone? Now you make it sound like you've never supported the phone, while you've been doing so from the beginning [email protected]
Compass is not broken, it just takes a while to find it's bearing (although the GPS catch is the fastest out there) Mic works perfectly on my headset (I use the Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10vi, and also tested it on the ibeats and beats pro and both worked fine). Notifications have always worked on every single headsets i used with this phone, with mic or no mic (sony, logitech, altec lansing, sennheiser, panasonic, etc). Battery life have improved in time over a months period, and now I just charged once and I can keep running the whole day using it for various things. And USB on top? works perfectly for me since I can line up the 3.5mm jack with the usb when I'm in the car and can put the phone in one of the cup holders. In case someone wants to mention the usb cover, it's not flimsy at all. as long as you don't try to yank it off, it does not even look like it will break anytime soon.
Now back to topic...I have a feeling AT&T might have some kind of an agreement with Samsung to promote their phones more aggressively over their other phones, maybe so they can get the Note and the Nexus in their roster. I actually noticed that AT&T makes no attempt to promote the LG phone other than during the announcement even from the first days it was released. In one of our malls here, there's 2 AT&T spots, one is a small kiosk, the other is a big store. Only the big store has it on display, and even now, 2 months later, the small kiosk still doesn't have it displayed. Same thing with a Radio Shack here in a town near me and in Brooklyn. I went in to look for possible cases for the phone, saw that there is no dummy phone shown, asked the guy where's the Nitro HD, and they're like huh? what phone? I had to speak to the manager and he said oh we do not carry that here.
I doubt it's hardware issue. If it was a battery issue, AT&T can issue a bigger better battery replacement instead of losing business. Or it could possibly be that they do not promote the phone to avoid having to deal with customer complaints about the battery, of course it only applies to those who don't wait and see how much better the battery is now. I still say it's something to do with an agreement with another maker.

not quiet understand you there. Yes, from the day one I was bashing this phone for it's flaws, simply because it's not worth the $600 price tag. If it was sold for $200 in retail, I'd love it.

Really? Do you have anything to compare it with? I'd like to see how it works for you. For instance load up the google navigator and select "walk", then open the map and see how "you" will spin and point in all kind of directions while the phone is stays still.

Some headsets don't have problems, I agree, but some, that work on other phones don't work on Nitro. Lack of drivers? Maybe, I don't know, but it's a fact.

Perhaps, however don't expect any kind of gadgets such as docks or webtops for this phone. And do you know why they put that cover? It's to protect the usb port from dust and crap, because most people care the phone in their pockets, upside down...

Hmmm got home today at 9pm, looked at the phone and couldn't believe my eyes, it shows 4G LTE icon. Either I didn't notice it at 5pm or they added Tampa Bay to LTE network between 5 and 9 today...
Let's the throttling war begin

I just missed it! I was in St. Pete/Tampa over the weekend and was shocked they didn't have LTE (yes yes, I know they weren't on the short list of markets)... Congrats on getting it now! I live in Boston and work in NH and its such a huge difference in speed between HSPA (at work) and LTE (at home), its ridiculous.

Mine is general AND has a poll, the other one is too specific and restrictive: proximity sensor and battery. In mine, you can vote and eventually explain why. That's why I created a new thread.
Absolutely not.
I had the nexus one before and thought DHD would be my secondary phone (I have to have two) but after playing with it for one hour I switched sim cards and never looked back.
One word - screen. When I look at the nexus screen now it looks like a toy.
Although I am a bit irritated about the speaker quality.

Isn't it? You would expect more from a flagship phone and boasting "Dolby Mobile" and "SRS", the nexus one had none of these and although the speakers were rubbish too, they still where better then those on the DHD.
Absolutely not! I got mine yesterday & I LOVE it. I cant stop playing with it
Ignoring the battery issue (it's getting better after few charge cycles though), I don't regret it all.
today i took mine out for a solo test run for the first time. came off charge at 10am and 12 hours later has 35% battery, after 45 minutes of gps, 3 hours of wifi internet and and hour of angry birds. oh and 3 phone calls. thats not bad. this is after 8 complete charge cycles done over 4 days. when you use it heavily it dies quick, but pace yourself and it does juuuust fine.
the camera is shockingly bad though. white balance is terrible, focusing in anything but perfect light is crap, and the image quality is questionable.
and the ear speaker volume is a little quiet for calls in loud environments, but its CLEAR. i had no problems hearing what the other person was saying, even in a noisy cafe.
I'm not really shure if I would have bought it and these are the reasons why:
battery life is not that good, although I expected this so it's not really a reason, though I'd like to mention it
"Locations" only works with data connection, so what's the use of preloaded maps then? I want to see my location without having a data connection (when roaming abroad) but this is not possible, why not? such a shame. This should be possible. I even think it's ridicoulously easy to implement in a firmware update, though I wouldn't really know
Speaker is absolutely useless. I never hear it when it's in my pocket and to make matters worse, the vibrator is not one of the best either. It makes a lot more noise than it should and it just vibrates fast, not hard. The lower the frequency and the bigger the amplitude of the vibration, the harder you feel it. Every phone in this price range I ever had, had a better vibrator
camera quality is very disappointing. On the DHD's screen it all looks very nice and crisp, untill you copy the shot to your pc, bummer... I was expecting a serious improvement in quality, coming from an iPhone 3GS but sadly this is not true
setting up the dlna to work (if compatible, which it is rarely!) is harder than running to the store, buying a Nokia N8 + hdmi cable, transfer some movies to it and connect it to your tv. So, kinda useless...
is it really that much trouble to install a LED notification light that you can actually see from an angle?
Ok, flash in the browser works, but how... it's slow and laggy
to sum it up, the DHD is still a fantastic phone, but to me a flagship device should excell on EVERY field, or at least be way above average on every field. This means GPS solution + speaker + camera... everything! And it just doesn't, not even by a long shot.
Honestly I was expecting more from the DHD
for the moment I'm keeping it because I still feel there is no phone out there that can offer me this much, but as soon as Symbian revamps their UI, I'm going back to Nokia. On the insides, S60 is still a very good OS and I love it for its possibilities but sadly it looks like crap and we're too spoiled by iOS and Android to go back there...

Same here. And the colors on the N1 look way overdone. I don't even like to look at it. I read so much on the bad speaker, but I must say I think I have one the better ones I guess. Actually, the my first impression was: Nice, big screen, but the colors are off.
I had a black wallpaper on my N1, put the same on DHD and it looked bleached.
After over one week of usage I have no reservations as to the colors, the screen is pure brilliance, I am never going back to a <4.3" screen.
You must be lucky with the speaker. Youtube is nigh unusable without headphones.

New jawbone blutooth era newest headset

I'm thinking about getting the jawbone bluetooth era. I currently have the blueant q2 and have had a lot of different issues with it I've replaced it twice. I'm on my 3rd replacement no now the battery won't even last an hour i'm done with blue ant. But before I go and drop another 130.00 on another headset I wanted to see if anybody has the new jawbone and how god it is does it work great with the evo how dots it compare to the icon. Thank You
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
also very interested in this... I had the icon also and loved it.
Got one yesterday, works as good or better than the Icon and the voice caller id kicks butt! I recommend it, Best Buy has em and you have a 30 day return to work with. I say give it a shot you won't be dissapointed.
Unless you have a problem with looks, the best bluetooth hands down is the Plantronic Voyager Pro or Pro Plus. End of story.

LOL and fit. Horrible fit for many of us that wear glasses.
I have had the Era for a couple of days and it's good. It's basically an Icon with (hopefully) better battery life, vastly improved music sound, and voice caller id of limited usefuleness. I hope this will change in the future, but the voice caller id is limited to 10 numbers that you program in yourself. No phonebook download like BlueAnt. I'd still be all over the BlueAnt T1 if it didn't cut out so much when the phone was in my pocket, as I loved how it did the phonebook download, and the answer by voice.
Pros:
Much improved music quality
Seems to connect calls a tiny bit quicker
Finally SOME voice caller ID
Seems to remember BT audio settings better (when turning on the Icon, half the time my Evo would get the BT audio, the other half it would go to my work BB 9700. Era seems to always go to my Evo as desired, maybe it remembers the last one connected?)
Cons:
Same good bass can make voices sound less clear than the Icon
Only 10 voice caller id entries, you gotta be kidding me!
Very high price (thanks UPS for my 25% accessory discount)

Hands down? End of story?
Let's see. Huge, heavy design. Not glasses/sunglasses friendly. VERY fragile (look at all the reports of people needing 2-3 replacements within 6 months). Wind noise still gets transmitted through even with 3 mics.
Of course there are probably great things about it too, as you seem to love it as much as I love the Icon (and now Era). I HATED the first two Jawbones, and used Plantronics for a few years (though none of them lasted worth a crap). The Blueant Z9 was probably the first BT headset I considered to be good, but compared to what's available now it was absolute junk.
So anyway, great for you, poo for me.. No hostility intended, just posting the facts as I see them. Tomato tomato, potato potato, blah blah blah.
Eh sorry, seems harsh now that I reread what I wrote... Just my opinion.

I just got the Era last week and love it! the "default" earbud fits my ear nicely...the sound is clear, people seem to understand me, voice search and dial work as good as ever
The "tap tap" takes a little getting used to but works great once you get the hang....
The battery life is nice (I wish they would get their act together and get a battery meter like they have to iphone and blackberry though)

I have had the voyager pro for a good while now and It is a bit of a tight fit but I never have had issues with wearing my nike glasses or my oakley sunglasses. Also it is the best BT I've ever owned I use it in my convertible all the time on the highway at the worst I may have to roll up my windows but other than that its awesome!!!!!

Just got the new ERA. Had an ICON and the Jawbone before that. Each one improves in increments. The sound, especially for music, has improved greatly. Upgrade the firmware ASAP because the shipping one can have a crackle when playing voice mail... some kind of a quirk in the DSP circuit. Caller ID actually lets you use 20 numbers, which is enough for my most called circle. Only numbers after that 20. I like it, but it's still going for full list of $129, even on Amazon. One of the few things I'm a first adopter of. Always been happy with them. Good range with my EVO, too.
Just picked one up. So far I haven't really placed any calls with it but the audio listening to music and podcasts is really good. So far it works with Pandora, HTC Music app, Google Listen. That's about all that I've tried. When I get home tonight I'm going to update the firmware and add some people to the phone book. I'll update in a few days once a take some calls on it.
Just bought another one 3 days ago because I lost my first one. Then I found the other one yesterday. Annoyed.

Jawbone ERA
I just picked up this pricey item in the hopes of getting all these high end features to use with my EVO 4G (HTC Sprint). I immediately loved the pairing and was able to hear my music through it. However, to get to the other features I spent $130 for such as speech to text, audible email, caller id etc., you're supposed to go to mytalk.jawbone.com. So I register and I get a message saying my operating system is not supported. WHAT!!! I'm so bummed because I thought this one was gonna be the one. (I've tried 3 others so far.) Anyone know how to work around this compatibility issue? If not, please recommend a full featured bluetooth.
Thanks!
Sunnilocs
I've had every Jawbone since they launched and just got the Era having retired my Icon which was not working well of late. (Kept disconnecting and reconnecting with the phone constantly.) So I thought I'd try the Era and have set it up to work with my EVO 4G. Love the quality of the sound, calls are clearer (even in my convertible), and everything seems to be working well EXCEPT the caller ID. I have imported about 12 numbers that I want announced by name, but only one works correctly. When I'm called by any of the others that I've added to my list, it only reads the number, ("Call from: 818-555-1212") and won't say "Call from: John Smith". The numbers that won't announce by name are in my list, and the Era is correctly updated with MyTalk. I even deleted the entire profile, reset both the headset and phone and started all over again with the same result. If anyone has any ideas, I'd sure love to hear them!

Hacking the Sony Liveview

Despite the bad reviews I picked up a Liveview yesterday. Was $50 brand new off Craigslist. And surprise surprise, it turned out to be a turd. Well, I don't like to waste money, so I set about modding it. Thought some people here might be interested to see what I did.
So far I've waterproofed the case. Next I'll be building a better strap, one that doesn't make it huge or block the USB port. http://www.jax184.com/projects/liveview/liveview.html has everything I've done so far on it.
Nice i got that thing and it "worked" but still with the having to restart it all the time was very annoying but i ended up sending mine back
So I've been using the Liveview for a couple days, or at least trying to. Even after doing a full reset of the device, reinstalling the software on my phone and removing all the plugins, it has a battery life of about 6-8 hours. In that time I turned the screen on twice, and it briefly lit up to tell me of an incoming call. No texts, no alerts, and I don't have farcebook/twatter/etc turned on. It sat 2 feet from my phone the entire time. If I actually try to use the damn thing to, say, control the media player, the battery goes dead in 2 to 3 hours.
Pathetic...
I've decided I'm going to build it into a custom case for a friend of mine with a much larger battery, since the stock one is completely and utterly useless. So much for my gasket job...
Not sure if the battery is just dying on yours or what but if I never touch the screen, mine lasts for a couple days at least (and that's with alerts!). Sad to hear yours has issues :\
Mine's brand new and running the latest firmware/software with the bare minimum of functionality enabled, so I'm as confused as you.
I have a liveview and i absolutely love it. I dont have any connection issues but i mostly just use it as a watch with out having it connected over bluetooth and the battery lasts for days when i do that. I do have an issue now where i dropped it and the select button on top doesnt work anymore
Can I connect multiple liveviews to my phone?
I just bought 4 of them for $15 a pop !! Sweet
I know I can use it with torque which is cool
what else can I do with them? Can I run album art to it from say player pro? or Pocket Casts?
is there a decent list somewhere of "interesting" things you can do with the little buggers?
Hi, do someone know the dimensions of the battery, because i have one with death batt. and need a replacement.
nice mod! Based on the pictures I can see the battery size in case I need to replace it, by the way using notifications my watch last 2.5 days, using a plugin last only 30minutes or less

+1 I just got one for $15, I wanna find some cool things I can do with it. What have you done to set yours up?
its a pain in the freaking butt. cool potential poor execution.
it constantly gets disconnected when something goes wrong ON THE DROID SIDE. terminating the app and relaunching it solves the problem for X period of time (few hours ??)
the most convenient access is also the worst designed. the watch band. YOU CAN NOT CHARGE IT WHILE IN THE WATCH BAND.
what freaking moron though that was a good idea to force us to remove it (VERY difficult) to charge it.
if the software bugs get worked out I may look into modding the stinking socket so I can charge it while in watch mode (thinking of RIVETING the case to the band) then I won't need the little watch pin thingy that is keeping me from charging it while its in the watch band.
and there is just not that many "cool" apps to use for it yet or the few out their are poorly executed.
how hard can it be to reliably push the freaking album art to the watch ?

Just to be clear, there are 2 versions of this device floating about... The older one goes for around $20 and is not much more than a novelty... The newer model runs around $100 and seems to have fixed the battery life issue... One should look at the Pebble once it is available as a possible alternative...

Yeah, $15 is AWESOME!
$18 with Free shipping on ebay buy it now is the best price I can find so far.
I bought four of them and donated 2 to the local hackerspace.
Would be wicked to control more than one at once. I'm trying to find some chick to wear two as earrings.
Perhaps one controlled with Sony app and one Open Liveview App each for one mac address.
Contrary to earlier post, I seem to be able to have both Sony and Openliveview apps installed at once (though haven't tried RUNNING both) yet.
My battery life across the two that I've evaluated and (a third I lost to the ocean) seems significantly better than the average reported above.
But a LOT of variables have changed since the OP. New firmware, new app, new phone, new bt stack, new android versions...
My impression IIRC is that this thing is ROCK SOLID on CyanogenMod7 or CM9 on evo 3d.

Turbo 2 My final thoughts.

I have an S6 edge and i love the phone but the battery life left me to leaving battery saver on all the time and at the end of the day i would be at about 30%. So i thought it was time to pick up something that will last longer. And i had the phone since launch so time for something new.
First things first. Its huge. Its really big. But so is the price you pay for a phone that can walk away from a 900 foot drop and has a huge batt. Secondly if you get this phone do as i did. Before you even touch the display put the glass screen protector on it. If not you will get scratches.
So day to day use i love it. I end the day with about 70% battery life. The charger is amazing. 25watts will get you topped off really fast. Display is not bad. You really need to look to see the gap that all the layers make it have. But really not bad. People say i sound much better on the phone and people sound better. The radios in this phone kill the S6 edgs. Where i would get around 65Mbs down i now get around 100Mbs. Calls are nice and clear. Camera takes a little getting use to and you will deff want another camera app as the stock is blan. I can get pretty good pics now but it was a change going from a ois cam to one without it but phase detecting auto focus. Android runs smooth and i love the moto touches. First phone since the droid razer and im glad they pulled back. The moto touch is a great polish to android.
The bad. Bluetooth to my car some times will take 30-45 sec to connect. My S6 is much faster. But the Turbo 2's connection was solid and gave me no issues.
I really love this phone. Put a $20 128gig micro sd card in it and replaced the stock gray ballistic nylon back with a black nylon back and it was not that hard. As soon as the guy who i order my parts from gets the blue buttons and what not ill put those on it so i can have the one i want "Wanted it that day did not want to wait for the moto maker version" But ill be keeping it. I miss my S6's finger print reader but with a patter lock and set up to only lock when i set it down i can live without it. And its good to say screw you sammy and your super locked down devices. My S6 is rooted but thats the last sammy phone ill ever own due to them locking them down so hard.
Here are some benchmarks that i have done at diff times when someone asked me. Looks like i got a decently binned 810 and is at the higher end of the spectrum.

I got one 2 days ago. Do not regret it one bit whatsoever; great device in every way. It's fast, battery life is crazy good, no overheating/throttling, display is very clear with extremely accurate colors for an OLED (gets up to about 400 nits max [pretty average], color temperature is about 6800K [kelvins] so really accurate.
Camera takes very good photos, and I can use it with one hand with small hands. No lag whatsoever, even after intensive gaming.
The bad: I wish there was a fingerprint sensor on here; not a major issue for me. Benchmarks:

Interesting... What model radio/car do you have? My DT2 connects to my Fiat and BMWs pretty much immediately.

Except for when you're charging it. The only time the Turbo 2 ever heats up is when you turbo charge it, and I've experienced some throttling playing games at the same time. Kinda sucks since my PlayStation emulator absolutely murders the battery, so the only way you can play it for an extended period of time is while it's charging I had to use my old Samsung charger that charges slower to avoid throttling.
Turbo/fast charging is handy but not good for battery life in long term. When you play games, part of the power/current goes to the device itself so it's less destructive for battery but heat is.
Takes almost a minute to connect to my Porsche panamera as well

I don't know if its the Bluetooth scan interval on the turbo 2's stock setting but my s6 was maybe 10 sec at most. It's not a big issue just annoying.
Very rarely my DT2 will not connect in time to my Ford's Sync system. But, it's probably 1 out of every 20-ish tries (unless the Sync module needs a fuse pull), and all I have to do is just push the Voice button and tell it Bluetooth Audio.
My Galaxy S6, on the other hand, it was maybe 3/10 times that it would successfully connect. It had terrible battery life, too, would be down to about 20% after playing local music with the screen off for ~7 hours.
My DT2 is a beast and blows away the S6. Note4, too, but it's a much closer race with the Note4.
I find it hard to believe you found a 128GB micro SD for only $20. Sounds like you're ebragging and if it really was that cheap, I'm sure it won't last long. Cheapest I could find was for $34.99 and that was on sale.

Well someone got mad over the smallest thing. Didn't take much to get your jimmies rustled, lol. 'Tis the season of giving. Have a happy holidays.
You can find the cheap ones but you get what you pay for lol
There are rumors, that is possible to find sd card with capacity as much you wish. Even unlimited is possible. When sd card reach physical limit, will start writing data from the beginning. So in theory has unlimited capacity for writing, only problem is reading
Interesting, coming from my Droid Maxx, my bluetooth is totally improved in both of my cars.
The only complaint I have with the phone is now I cannot speak at all in my condo where before (with the Maxx) I was able to talk with only an occasional blackout (even in my basement).

I am noticing call quality lacking on some of my calls as well. This is a very good phone but I'm gonna return it (and get something else) if the static and broken calls continue.

Question On display camera.

Can anyone explain how this is a feature? I mean it doesn't bother me. But the more I think about it . The less it feels like a feature. And more it feels like something fishy. I don't know enough about stuff to understand access to data under a proprietary feature. But at the bare minimum I've never thought you know what this phone needs is that small crappy front facing camera to be in the display . I think I prefer it not there at all since the phone opens the back camera is sufficient for both. End of the day I believe this will be my last samsung. I hate the front screen and inside screen is cool and impressive but still kinda annoying. In my mind these devices should come with all the quirks ironed out. I still enjoy my note 3 rooted as much if not more. And the note 20 ultra was a solid device but wasn't a big upgrade from my 10+. Bare minimum samsung not including accessories is just lame. I would have probably made the closed screen slightly larger for easier use on the go and then the use on the inside screen for less often use in casual settings.
Just my thoughts a month in and was curious to hear others thoughts. I know it's probably and amazing device for someone who doesn't upgrade frequently but as someone who does it was probably the device that has ended my desire for new and cool over tested and true. .
Anyone stumble across any lesser known features or functions that aren't well known?
Customization wise:
I use wavelet and my bose in car sounds amazing.
And have good lock/nice lock until hex is functional again.
Ad block
and system ui tuner that doesn't seem to be adding much
and I tried to see if I could use adb and 3c but it doesn't seem to improve much or increase any functional use but I just had it long ago and thought I'd see if it was useful
The latest update has improved my mobile service in rural areas near by sprint on tmobile experience
I haven't debloated because honestly the device probably wouldn't improve much with less and I'm kinda waiting to understand what all is needed until my account is fully tmobile. I assume nothing they have changes much but since it can't currently be unlocked on tmobile side I'm curious to how it's locked since it's not supposed to be sprint sim compatible. But still has the sprint unlock uicdd on device hidden with tmobile unlock visible. I also hope someone comes out with a case that has a tiny bluetooth keyboard , I think that would be kinda cool.
Ok
I know that for everyone, no device is perfect. As much as I LOVE this Fold 3, it's not perfect, but it's about as close as a mobile device has come for me. Then again, I know that I am also an edge-case as I use my Fold 3 in a way that most others do not. I use it as a Mobile Office. I call it my 3-pocket-laptop (look on YT for a video titled 4 pocket laptop to see what I am getting at).
I have a foldable BT KB with Trackpad, folding Tablet Stand and a 20kMah battery pack I take along and I can literally work from anywhere I have signal. I even made a portable, battery powered monitor (from an old Laptop and some parts I had to order (controller and the like)) I made that I can stuff in a backpack and have an even better experience when on the go. I no longer need to carry my work laptop with me with this setup.
So yeah, I get why it may not work for you, but for me, I love it.

Pics please! I've seen the Mr Mobile video you're referring to, that was a fantastic idea!

I saw that video and thought it was completely awesome what he did with the Z Fold3 and turning it into a complete desktop solution and even his Microsoft only co-worker was impressed with it.

I'll get some pics up soon. I am redesigning the "monitor" case now and want to have an all-in-one unit to show off.

Yeah, I am former MSFT myself and several people there want me to try the same thing with a Duo 2 (which they are sending me) and do a comparison. This will be fun!
