Yes it is.
I have never heard of a custom ROM that is not rooted. Would be very strange to see one not rooted. Would totally defeat the purpose of the ROM, lol

Hahahahahaha thanks for the eye opener, off course, you're totally right Thk's. Cheers

Looking forward to flashing this on my tab in a couple of days!
Thanks!

I haven't used this ROM yet, but I have used everyone of Scrosler's ROMs on my Evo 3D and Evo 4G. They all have been great. I would assume he wouldn't post it if it wasn't ready to go.

I am download #12! Really nice work. Thank you. I have had only 1 random reboot so far. Very snappy speed.
The problem with this version of CWM / CF-ROOT still persists - rebooting when using root functions. In the paid version of Titanium Backup, you can freeze and backup apps no problem. Also, integrating app updates into ROM also works. Uninstalling system apps mostly works - the tab reboots after the uninstall is complete. You are not able to restore backups of uninstalled system apps because the tab reboots before the process begins.
I will continue testing an report anything else I find. Thanks again for your great work!

I haven't had any issues with uninstalling system apps with Titanium. They uninstall and...that's it. Admittedly I didn't uninstall that much, the wife actually likes some of the bloatware, believe it or not.
As for restoring backups of uninstalled system apps, I personally never bother backing them up in the first place. I've copied the contents of the entire /system/app folder and kept it safe on the external SDCard. That way, I can just reinstall them if I want them, or if I'd made a hideous mistake while theming.
I use Titanium once if I'm reflashing something back to stock and then it gets uninstalled. But that's just me.

Hey Ticklefish
I saw your post in the CWM thread created by Skin1980, about how you do all system changes in through the recovery menu. I'd quite like to know if this rom plays better with making changes (like restoring apps via titanium backup) in the OS and not have to go through recovery? It would just be a convenience to do the 1-click restore of all my apps with titanium, that's why I'm asking.

I restore system apps by using an app like ES File Explorer to copy them from my sdcard to the /system folder, setting the right permissions, moving them into the /framework or /app folder. I might have to do a quick reboot then to get them properly installed.
I could install them through the recovery menu, if I wanted, by using ADB but there isn't really much point.
If you'd rather use Titanium and do it that way, then go for it. It is a lot simpler, to be sure.
Now when I say 'system apps' here, I'm actually meaning things like your browser, soft keyboard, etc. Making changes through recovery is more for changing the actual workings of your device. That's things like altering your framework-res.apk or your SystemUI..things that control the actual device itself.

please ignore this post

Omg, you are soo fast.

wht is in this rom? i just updated to 2.3.6 gb, when playing snes it lags, but on my 3g tab its smooth. will this rom help?

This is a cleaner version of the stock gingerbread rom. There's no JIT, OC, improved libraries or anything like that. Give it time, we've only just worked out how to put roms on this thing! lol

imilka's Stock Froyo RAM RC3
based on AdamG's OpenDesire latest version

Made this while experimenting with RAM... Found it quite good during 2 days testing
Quick notes:
1) System is fully loaded into RAM, you will need to modify CWR flash.cfg and reflash partitions (read below)
2) You can't modify system via Root explorer or etc.
Read below how it can be done.
3) Uhm... nothing more.
4)Replace stock launcher with other btw, it's laggy even with this configuration sometimes
(ADW EX - my choice)
Features

clean, stock, fast and stable (should be stable )
FM Radio
CM6
easy system modifying
~15seconds boot time
rooted
deodexed and zipaligned
free space after install - about 250M on EU device
No screenshots, sorry... haven't you seen stock froyo?
Installation

1) Download latest CWR with system layout (any)
2) Modify flash.cfg like this:
Code:
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot ya|boot|ro 100M
system ya 15M
cache ya 10M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize
3) Flash partitions (run DAF.exe)
4) Boot into recovery
5) Select Mounts and Storage > Mount USB Storage
DONT COPY ZIP USING MAGLDR, USE ONLY THIS WAY! (or cardreader)
6) Copy zip to SD card
7) Select Install zip from sdcard > Select zip from sdcard
8) Select uploaded zip, select yes, wait
9) Reboot, wait
Modifiying system files
Click to collapse
As I already said, it's not possible to modify system using Root Explorer, ADB or else.
So, to modify system:
1) Make .ramfs folder in root of your sd card
Download .ramfs folder if you can't create it
2) Now .ramfs acts like your /system, so create any files/folders you need to modify under .ramfs
Example: I need to modify framework-res.apk in /framework, here what I should do:
1) Copy .ramfs folder to sdcard root
2) Create framework folder in .ramfs
3) Copy framework-res.apk to framework folder
4) Reboot
Don't delete .ramfs after you made this!
If you delete this folder, system will be restored to default state. (your modified files will be replaced with default ones)

You can... repack initrd
Why should you? I don't think there's a lot of useless apps cause system is close to stock. (I haven't removed some really useless apps like OD updater, I'll remove them in update)
Not bad build for now
Only one thing - why it didn't recognize my operator's settings for mobile internet?

This is really a very good rom.
I just modify it to DFT version
and did some changes to support
1. change gps.conf
2. replace kernel
Still testing and don't find any problems now
I had no problem setting a live wallpaper (solar wind)

Dunno... it should recognize settings... i'll check apns
ha il support ext3, data.img ?????????????
It's not really needed - you have 250+mb after install.
But I'll think about including simple a2sd script.
WOW this looks VERY promising!!!
Everything works till now, enough memory, no FC's, all my applications work, fast.
Don't know why not more people try this!
Now I'm gonna try to change some (system)settings (gpsconf, build.prop because font is too big, usb-tp-pc). And try some superuser things like fix_permissions.
Seems g-sensor callibration option is gone?
fix_permissions will have no effect after reboot
But you can do it to check root
How you gonna change system settings? (just to make sure you're doing it right )

Kernelpan1c Nitro HD ROM
The first Custom ROM for the LG Nitro HD on AT&T
Overview:
This is based on the Stock ROM that shipped with the AT&T LG Nitro HD with fully de-odexed, zipaligned, root, optimizations, bloat removed, and LG launcher replaced. The goal of this ROM is to be lightweight and fast. Please note I have removed many stock apps, check the second post. This ROM does not wipe your data, but a backup is still highly recommended.

Installation:
0. Use Titanium Backup to backup apps+data (recommended)
1. Please make sure you have the latest CWM Recovery installed from ROM Manager (app in Market). Then enter recovery.
2. Make a nandroid backup!
3. Then "wipe cache partition" and "advanced > wipe dalvik cache"
4. If your not coming from an earlier version of my ROM, you need to "wipe data/factory" reset in CWM
5. Flash the ROM zip
6. Reboot your system. Give it some time, it takes 5-10 minutes
Note: follow all these steps whether your coming from another ROM or upgrading from an earlier version of my ROM
If your not on AT&T (ie your using Bell in Canada), you will need to download APN Backup & Restore from the Market to delete the current APN and then create the APN for your carrier.

Congrats on having the first custom ROM for the Nitro HD.
Beta links have been sent out.
Put the link please!
We have enough beta testers for now, I will hold off sending anymore for now. Thanks for all the interest. The public release should be within a day or two.
bravo kernelpan1c... cannot wait to get my hands on this.
I am going thru flashing withdrawls since getting this phone.
this will be the 1st ROM i ever flash!
i'm very excited...................
Hi, Kernelpan1c! Great work!
I would ask from you to release a stock deodexed rom w/o changes.
I really like stock launcher and fonts, and other stock things, but I have not enough knowledge to cook it by myself.
notice any improvement in battery life?? that alone will be worth flashing.

Do it now and work on the fixes you're likely to have to deal with (it's still new so ya know there's gonna be bumps!). Once you're comfy it's working right, then do the ROM...Then work on the fixes with that.
I'm a big proponent of dealing with frustrations one at a time (whenever possible! )
This is what happens when I don't get online much over the weekend... Locked out of trying a new ROM.

I'm thinking the same thing but it occurred to me *maybe* some of those bumps in CWM get ironed out in the mean time. Or is that not likely?
I'm hoping (due to my lack of knowledge re: these sorts of things) for a smooth install of the CWM. It all seems pretty straight-forward but I can get glossy eyed about these sorts of things!

[work around] How to get skygo working on rooted ICS roms

This is a work around which will enable you to watch skygo on rooted ICS roms, this is not a perfect solution but if you don’t want to miss the F1 or whatever, it’ll do.
1. Download this tweaked skygo app http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10514900/skygo_test_0.1.2.apk
2. Find your original kernel on intratech’s thread
3. Extract the kernel.7z file you just downloaded until you get the zimage
4. Copy the zimage onto your sd card
5. Open cwm manager, select 'flash kernel' and then select the zimage you just extracted
6. Use temp root remover to hide root
7. Install the skygo app, and you should be able to watch any channel.
If the app hangs on loading 0% ……. 0/100 try clearing app cache and data. If that doesn’t work uninstall skygo and reinstall it and it will work.
You might want to back up your old kernel/zimage before you start so you can easily restore your old kernel.
Like I said it’s not pretty but it works.
Thanks man,
I know there's a sky go thread with well over 500 pages, couldn't be bothered keeping track of it, I'm on stock kernel anyway(LP7) so I just use the 'fixed' app and voodoo unroot. Works a charm.

Press back & reload it again or alternatively wait for about 30 seconds to a minute & it'll clear up.
If not your connection is shabby.
i'm using build 0.1.5 from the big sky go post on here with wanam.stock.LP7, LP7 stock kernel & rootkeeper works a charm.
I can only get Sky News to work using the standard ICS build & unroot, I have cleared the cache & re-installed the app, not working.
Any further ideas ?

I updated my kernel from Intratech's list & it works fine - I don't remember installing a custom kernel, maybe I did.
Very simple solution, thanks.
1) Thanks for kanging my workaround from the other topic
2) you no longer need to use a pure stock kernel, you can use any kernel that has ro.secure=1
e.g. Siyah Kernel or CF-Root (both of these kernels have had adb hacked too so you don't lose out by having ro.secure=1)
I'm guessing you have to have a subscription?? Lol

no, cm9 has another issue that I am failing to diagnose, no idea what the problem is but I can't work it out no matter how many hours I spent looking at logs.
This sky go modified app, works on my Galaxy S2 with android ICS 4.0.3 - never ever rooted and no custom ROM.

Try some different kernels. I couldn't get it to work with CF or Neak. Tried speedmod and it works fine with temp unroot.
EDIT: It was working fine yesterday but stays on the loading screen today!
EDIT 2: Ok, I've got it working again. I believe the problem was superuser. One of the versions of Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper required superuser to be installed (as opposed to supersu) and I believe when I uninstalled superuser again it left some traces which Voodoo wasn't hiding and skygo was seeing. I've done a full wipe and installed a fresh copy of Omega rom, then speedmod kernel, then restored everything with Titanium back up and its working again. Which is good since I've got 3 months of free Sky!
I noticed there is a new update for Sky Go and was wondering if anyone has "fixed" the new apk to remove the version checking yet.
can someone post intratech’s link, I cannot find it after I searched the forum?

Read this from 1st post :
On the first boot it will be lagged as hell. Just wait for the rom to settle itself (+/- 5 mins) and then reboot.

Format /system partition too, before flashing it.

Don't forget that you need to use CWM 5.0 as Custom Recovery and, before flashing, you need to format /system ("mounts and storage > format /system")
Dont boot
i just install this rom and when i restart it, it's stock in the pinguin logo, what can i do?
by the way nice rom it's amazing :good:

Besides the basic Tri-WIPE, you need to format /system
Use CWM for that.
good rom, cool boot logo! have 190mb internal memory, and I can move all my apps to SD card.
bug: multitouch issue when playing gameboid or other game emulator, but not only on this rom, all cm7 I already tried also have this issue. Btw thank you, I can use this rom for daily use (sorry for my bad english)

Yep, but unfortunately, the multi touch bug is present at every CM7 by now. But well, if you press on the edge of the buttons (I use Gameboid too) then the bug may not appear

I think I might make an little update, correcting some bugs and chaging some stuff, like the boot animation and the default camera app (MIUI Camera App is way better).
Also I might update the camera drivers to my new ones, so we can have photos with more color fidelity
Weird bug today... the screen went black and wouldn't turn on...
Rebooted and got stuck on the tux logo. Rebooted into recovery, wiped Dalvik cache and everything went back to normal.

Place in the PDA section of odin and flash I made cwm6 and made into flashable .tar for everyone to use enjoy all should be working apart from mounting sdcard in recovery
WHEN USING PLEASE CHANGE DEFAULT BACKUP MODE TO DUP THEN YOU CAN BACKUP AND RESTORE ROMS AS YOU LIKE IT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY WITH .TAR BACKUPS YET THANKS
UNZIP the file attatched and move the file into your odin folder and place in the PDA section and flash then just reboot into the very nice CWM6 UI
Bug's:
Usb Mounting while in recovery does not work. 9 ( Fix in next release )
Please navigate to backup and restore and change default backup mode and set it to DUP because TAR backup does not work. ( Fix in next release )
WARNING THIS WILL TRIP YOUR FLASH COUNTER SO BE CAREFUL

I'm working on a rom.. For now i managed to deodex all apps and frameworks and remove some of the bloatware.. And it`s fully working.. I`ll mod it in a few days and upload it.
Meanwhile, as a homework, gather around to open a thread for this device
Cheers!!
It would be frikkin awesome if you can get this up and running. So far I've frozen about 30 bloatware apps including the Twlauncher and am now using Apex launcher and finally consider the phone to be usable and doesn't have the continuous freezing up.

How can I freeze some apps; Do I need to root tge phone;
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Hi yes you need to be rooted first. I used the motochopper thing for rooting, which you can find here with a bit of searching. Very straight forward to do.
Then once rooted you can either use Titanium Pro or can use one of the free tools in the market to freeze apps.
The advantage of freezing apps is that if you break anything as a result of freezing the wrong app you simply defrost it again. To all intents and purposes frozen apps no longer exist to the operating system so they are as good as uninstalled but without the risks.

The apps you freeze depends very much on what you use and what you do with your phone.
I've replaced the TW Launcher with Apex Launcher and use K9 Email instead of the inbuilt email program, so have frozen both of these. I also don't use voice activation/commands etc so have frozen these.
My frozen list so far consists of:
Allshare services
Apps 1.0
ChatOn
Chrome (I use Dolphine)
Clock (modern) 1.0 (an analogue clock widget - I use the digital one)
Discover
Dual Clock (analogue) (I'm only interested in the time in my timezone)
Dual Clock (digital)
Email (I use K9)
Falling Stars
FM Radio (I use the one in the car or the house rather than the one on my cellphone)
Game Hub
Google Play Music (I use Winamp Pro)
Google Text To Speech (I prefer reading things myself than having an electronic voice do it for me)
Hangouts
My Vodacom (a loda of VC crap)
Opera Mini (I prefer Dolphin)
Samsung Account
Samsung Contact SyncAdaptor (Cloud synching of contacts - I already synch with Google/Gmail contacts)
Telmap Navigator (I good gps navigator software but I prefer using Waze as it is lighter on data and has the whole social gps thing going)
Touchwiz Home (Launcher app - I use Apex which is much smoother and quicker on this phone)
TwDVFSApp (related to TouchWiz)
Unlimited Music
Vlive (more VC crap)
Weather Widget (I prefer the Accuweather app and decide when I want to look at the weather)
Weather Widget Main.
This is by no means a full list of what can be frozen, but I've tinkered a bit and freezing these has given a decent lease of life to the phone and I'm not missing I cant live without.
As far as launchers go, I prefer ADW and have a paid-for copy but on a slower more laggy phone like this the Apex launcher smokes anything else out there for speed and usability while not losing any features.
Hope this helps.
Thank you. It was really helpful.

Hi OP, do you know of any methods to flash the recovery without using Odin? Everything I tried failed, flash_image doesn't work (since /proc/mtd doesn't exist) and neither does fastboot (I think..).
If you know of anything, please tell me. Otherwise I guess I'll have to pay for it
Thanks!

I ended up using Odin (I had the misconception that Odin referred to the paid app. I tried to edit the post when I found out but I couldn't).
I can confirm that it works great! I have CWM running. Now I need to wait for a ROM for the Galaxy Fame.
Hey bro, i just want ask, how to change notification panel background?I also had deodex..
I tried to replace the file, but still looks like the original :crying:

Please make the UI same as with the latest jellybean.
For now I got stuck at some lines in script and also had no time.. And for some modifications for the UI you can use Xposed Framework with Gravity Box module if you are rooted.. I have 2 jobs, a fiance and some exams so i`m a lill overdriven. I`ll try to do my best for each one.. Soon i`ll upload the base as deodexed zipaligned and rooted stock with no modification. Maybe there is someone else who wants to mod it and has more time than i have. And 2 more things:
1. I have no ideea at this moment if 6810/p rom works on 6812 or vice versa but i'll test. That's a promise!
2. Don't think there is someone to port 4.4 to our device because is not that easy and it isn't a device with interest.. If you really want 4.4 switch to a device more popular . No promise but after i succed with a working stock and clean maybe i'll try to port cm 10 (as 4.1.2).
Cheers!!
