[Q] 64gb micro sd - is it compatable? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

has anyone tested these new 64 gb micro sd cards on the dinc?
i've been waiting so long for more space, but don't want to spend 150$ on a sd card that isn't compatable
any info would be greatly appreciated
thank you!

No it is not compatible. The Incredible can only handle up to 32gb. Here is the specs page for the Incredible. http://www.htc.com/us/products/droid-incredible-verizon#tech-specs
Why would you need that much storage on a phone anyways?

first of all, my question was about if anyone here had personally tried it.
second, it is b/c of articles like this that lead me to believe it is worth trying:
http://pocketnow.com/android/how-well-are-android-phones-handling-64gb-sdxc-memory-cards
and lastly, i want to have a lot of good quality music on hand(clouds suck)
so, seeing that i am rather poor at this time, i wanted to see if someone here was using it
thanks anyway....

If the galaxy s can do it, why can't the incredible?

my thoughts exactly, just wanted to see if anyone here had tried it yet

the OG Evo can and the droind incredible are very similar phones mostly the same chipsets give or take the og evo's wimax

Maybe only 32gb was supported as that was the highest available when testing or 64gb was not reliable then. Who knows? Good to hear it works tho.

Any phone that can handle 32G SD's can use 64. Just formate it to 32 or what ever it is. Sorry for the stupidly written answer. Sick+Nyquil= Weirdness.

The formatting option is FAT32 by the way.
And to make 64gb not work would take more work than making it work as they'd have to intentionally code something to block it which I know they didn't.

Works on the Droid Incredible
Just installed a new SanDisk 64GB MicroSD card in my HTC Droid Incredible and it worked for me too. Let the phone format the card and then copied the contents of my old 2GB card to the 64GB. All my apps & music are on the new card and working fine.

SDHC host -could- be compatible with SDXC card, but...
From what I'm understanding in the link below, the hardware in our handset won't be the problem with accepting an SDXC card... but we'll be waiting on Android to recognize such a card.

Sir you are correct, thats indeed the current problem. Although it is not a very big problems, since linux doesnt see the difference, thus accepting sdxc cards This could be fixed with a software update. Lets hope Samsung is watching us here
hm.... !!!
How hard would it be for a dev to implement it do you think?
Not that difficult IMHO.... Because hardware requirement for both types of cards are the same.... So only the cost factor & availability of high capacity storage are minimal. Hence they are not used commonly....
Otherwise imagine sgs2 utilizing 2TB of storage from sdxc ????? WOW !!!!!!
That would be sexy..... Devs are you listening ????
Any news with 64gb on sgs2? I know this is dead topic since a while, but there's 2.3.4 leaked already, anyone checked is it works now / discover how to make 64gig fully working?
Unfortunately, there don't appear to be any microSDXC cards on the market at the moment -- even full-size SDXC cards are a bit hard to come by.

Exactly, I bought a 32gb card. It will record about 4 hours of HD video from camera! I do a lot of transferring.

{ Can I } extend to 32GB SD ?

can I use a 32gb SD card in my device ?
thanks ^^^
you sure can! i am using one now. sandisk class 4. bought it for 29.99 and a 1 day sale! works great along with my internal card!
I'm using one too. Just a note, the internal memory registers to apps as the SD card, while the SD card is located as a folder inside that marked External_SD. I had to redirect a few apps to there to find their data.

Yeah it's really expensive here is the price:
64GB $219.99
but are you sure it can? cause from what I've read SGH-T989 is designed to take up to 32GB's only... I'm curious if it can really take more than that set value of 32GB's. You will see this if you read the owner's manual of the phone
there are many confirmations and videos that have shown it can, even on old HTC and Samsung devices, or many other phones
as for the price, if you think about it
2x 32GB $100 = 1x 64GB $200
so it's just like buying 2 card, but you can use them together at the same time instead of having to take out the back cover + case to swap the SD cards

I ordered two and have used these befofe the sdxc system in the micro sd cards seem to be read as sdhc so that these phones can support it. On an evo even it reads perfectly fine. On the ET4G I havent checked the camera information but it does transfer at 30mb/s (read/write fluctuate between 15-20mb on actual transfer and write is just a bit higher).

I have been using the 64gb sdxc card for about a month now. It works great!
When I first installed it my phone did not recognize it. Easy fix....
1.menu
2.Settings
3.Storage
4.Unmount SD card
5.Format SD card
The only minor issue I have had is "media scan" can sometimes take a little long if I have too much media saved on the SD card. I usually just place a period in front of large folders that contain movies and private photos. This will hide the contents of the folder from the "media scan".Then I just access them with ES file explorer. The media scan never takes anymore than a couple seconds and its NOT really an issue.
Also for some strange reason Windows will not recognize the card when plugged in to the computer directly but My Mac will. When transferring files from Windows I just use the USB cord and transfer via mass storage or MTP Application.
BUY IT NOW!!! You will not regret it.
I forward this to a few techy friends, we always share deals. One of them stated that this site is known for selling counterfeit SD cards...any truth to that? I would hate to dish out this type of money for a fake card.

Don't know if it's widespread or isolated incidents.
http://photo.net/digital-camera-forum/00LQNF
The above is from 2007 though, so I don't know if it's relative to today.
After extensive Googling, I have come to this conclusion:
There are hardly any incidents about fake SanDisk cards from Adorama.
There is the one incident above, which may have stuck in peoples minds over the years, but is not indicative of a widespread problem.
Most of all that I read about Adorama is positive, or neutral.
Adorama is in NYC, and is in direct competition with B&H Photo, another reputable Dealer to buy electronics from, so I don't think either wants to blow it, so to speak.
The above is just my opinion, but if Adorama had issues with widespread SanDisk problems, I likely would have found it.
Out of the 2 stores above, I usually shop at B&H Photo, whether in store or online. No particular reason other than I went to B&H Photo years ago, and have continued to go there if the price is right. I've been to Adorama once also, and had no issues. I actually purchased recently a SanDisk 16GB Class 6 card from B&H Photo, but purchased the Samsung 32GB Class 10 card a couple of weeks afterwards from another Dealer.
Adorama advertises a lot on 660 AM WFAN sports radio. Pretty big name. I'd be surprised if they wouldn't work with someone who received a bad or fake card.
Found this video with the card being used HERE

Flash storage replacable?

Hello,
I would have bought a Galaxy Nexus a long time ago if the storage wouldn't be limited to effectively 13GB and no chance to extend the storage with a micro sdcard.
However I'm curious if it somebody would be able to replace the 16GB internal flash storage with a 32GB or maybe even 64GB module? It's certain that this person must have quite good knowledge of micro electronics.
So, would somebody be able to do this? I'm sure there would be quite a big interested people for such a device.
Possible or not?
Regards
Lenny

I shouldn't think that
He mentioned "SD card"... In other words, he thought, that there is an SD (A micro sd) inside the device...
Please, a tip, for life: listen(or in this case: read), think, think again. Read/listen aain, then say something...
Well, actually I'm talking about "internal flash storage" and this hasn't to be a SD card necessarily. However, i got it

This should be theoretically possible, but you'd really need some incredible soldering and desoldering skill. In fact, I think that if you tried to do this without some incredibly specialized machinery, you'd end up with a nice paper weight.
i might buy usb otg and plug my 32 gb micro pendrive.
A hot air rework station, a magnifying glass and a very steady hand would do. The steady hand is the hardest thing to come by. You can't order one off E-Bay, although I'm sure someone out there would try and sell you one.

You'd have to do ext4 or NTFS or something. It would be sweet if our phones could read NTFS natively like the Asus Transformer Prime can.

Having issues transferring Movies to MicroSD

So, I know this may seem like a dumb question and i'd like to say that i should know what the problem is, But i can't seem to figure it out. I just bought a Sandisk 32GB MicroSD Class 10 card. I just ordered a Motorola Xoom Verizon Edition and what i was trying to do is transfer my movies from my PC to the card. I inserted the card in a usb reader and then my PC recognizes it right away. I open the folder and try to drag and drop a 2GB movie and it keeps giving me an error saying "can't read from source file or disk" I mean i have a custom built PC that is running W7 64bit and trust me the hardware is top of the line. I have all my movies saved on my SSD and all i under 3GB a piece.
Anyone heard or seen this problem or is there an easier way to getting these movies on my xoom then on to the card? If i had to, id be willing to put them on the hd on the xoom, but i was hoping to hace 64gb to play with.
Thanks in advance
