NFC Task Launcher & Tasker - any walkthroughs? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

OK, I want to make a NFC Tag for when I get home which will turn WiFi on, Connect to my Home Network, and change my mobile connection to 2G only.
I can use NFC Task Launcher to do the first 2, however, I have no idea how to integrate (or even configure) Tasker to change from 3G to 2G.
Could anyone give me a walkthrough as to how to do this?
Cheers
Stewart

Okay after poking around a bit I think it's as simple as you creating the Tasker task and NFC Task Launcher launching said task upon reading a specific tag. I may be wrong as I have neither of the apps yet, but in a few minutes I will.

Have you found any good walk-throughs yet? I am new to both apps. Tasker seems to have a bit of a learning curve.

Simulate tap on HTC "network" widget

Hello all,
I'm trying to control the "on/off" state of mobile data via my own application and while I know of APNDroid, I find it unreliable with my HTC Desire using the 2.2 OTA update (unrooted). It works two or three times, but once the screen has been turned off for quite a while, it no longer works.
However, tapping on the widget from HTC always works and so I was wondering if there is a way to simulate the tap on the widget.
For instance, I thought about sending an intent to the widget. But I'm not sure where to start as I have no idea what the name of that intent could be.
Does anyone have any clues as to where to start looking?
Thanks in advance.
Tasker is an excellent app and the latest beta of it now supports turning on and off mobile data using this toggle.
Hello,
I know about Tasker and am currently evaluating it.
It has two different tasks to control the mobile data, one internal (Mobile Data) and one using APNDroid (Mobile Data APN).
The former does not to work at all, while the latter only works until the screen turns off for more than 5 minutes.
Hence the reason why I'm looking for alternatives while waiting for replies on the Tasker groups.
You are saying that the latest beta supports turning on/off "using this toggle". What toggle are you talking about? Is that the HTC widget mobile data toggle?
If yes, how do I control it via Tasker? I did not find anything obvious.
Regards
i use switch pro widget and love it
I use switch pro, but some people claim its an APN renamer which its not (unless you tell it to be in the settings)
However it is possible to control htc's data connection as CM has built it into his modified power control widget (see CM6 roms).
As to the exact modification, I don't know as I have never taken said widget appart to see what he told it to do.
Supposing SwitchPro works ok, which I can not confirm as there is no demo version, how would you control it from Tasker?

auto on/off connectivity toggles

Does any one know how to make an app that can auto on/off connectivity functions?
For 3g,Bluetooth, airplane battery saver??
That would have been perfect. I don't like to have to go into an app to do that, it should have been possible to do it just from a tile.
i don't think the api's necessary are available to developers for that, but i agree it would be a killer app to have.
have it timed auto/on/off
At least for unjailbroken devices I can assure you that this can't be done with the current APIs. Otherwise Apps like Connectivity Shortcuts and Network Dashboard would use this instead of linking to the settings pages.
It might be possible with a jailbreak but as of today i have no App that managed to change those settings programmatically.
What would be killer is to have the phone toggle "ON" wifi when you are at home based on your GPS location. And automatically turn it "OFF" when you were no longer within range.
Its really frustrating as this should be simple for MSFT to implement and this functionality works really well on Android.
I love it that my phone turns the bluetooth on for me to drive to work and BT off and the Wifi on when I get home.....

Wifi On/Off with TASKER???

Whats the best easiest way for this?? Ive tried a few from searching on google, directs me to droidforums.com but they seem to not work that well. Plus, some people use variable set, using %HOME = 1 and all that. Others go straight to the point of wifi near - on but somehow it doesnt work right. Can anyone help me? i just need a WiFi Near really, to toggle and connect to my HOME. I use Y5 app in the market, which does it but its not always reliable, doesnt always activate it ON/OFF but its exactly what I want but with TASKER, since it seems a hell of a good app!! Thank you.
can you not set up a "in range of" style thing? Like it goes off your GPS when you are near home and it will then turn on wifi.
I don't have the app and just did a quick skim of the website... sorry if this doesn't help

Tasker with NFC guidance please?

Since NFC Tasker launcher has Tasker support, I have been spending the day playing with NFC tags I have made a few tags, the most simplerest of tags is the one that is stumping me... I want to toggle Android Tether, but it seems with Tasker, I am only given the option to toggle the stock Sprint tether- not Android tether. (Android tether works flawlessly and doesn't yield a error 67 as the Sprint tether does)
Any guidance on how I might go along with this? I am continuing to read and research. I am new to Tasker, obviously.
Hey, thanks guys for any insight.

Best way to setup one action for serial tasks (e.g. wifi off, data on, vpn start)?

I've started using OpenVPN, and to use it I disable wifi, enable data, and then get into OpenVPN to establish the connection. That's not convenient at all, and neither is getting off the VPN.
What's the best way of creating a single icon for such things?
I thought perhaps Tasker, which I've read about but not used yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm overlooking something else.
I'm on stock 4.1.2 now but am considering CM10.

Tasker + Secure Settings can do this but you may need to figure out a script to get it to also enable OpenVPN's connection.
Tasker is worth every penny

OK, thanks, I'm beginning to bludgeon my way through Tasker now (a bit of a steep learning curve). I'm curious, though, which part of what I want to do is Secure Settings for? I've read its description, but it's hard to pick out which particular thing there you had in mind.
