[Q] Unlocked T989D asking for "network lock control key"

I bought a T989D privately and was told it was unlocked. Running stock ICS. When using my MTS sim it asks me for network lock control key. Since I was not the one who unlocked it, I suspected it was not really unlocked. Did a little research and found if I dialed *#7465625# , I could find status of lock. All were "off" . Now since I did not unlock it and have no way to contact person who unlocked it, I have no codes to enter. Tried rooting and using [root] Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock, it could not find unlock or unfreeze code.
What is my next step??

Did some more testing. Here are some more facts. As I said my active working MTS sim asks for network lock control key. I have 2 Rogers inactive never used sims, they both ask for network lock control key.
Have a Telus never used sim, it DOES NOT ask for network lock control key.
Makes me think phone is locked. So why all the "off" states of *#7465625# test?

Am I missing something here? Status of *#7465625# indicates phone IS unlocked. Any help would be appreciated. Would be glad to pay for unlock code if I knew that would work.

Seems like you were ripped off. I've heard of "partial unlocks" where whoever unlocked it didn't know what exactly they were doing. Like they tried z3box or jtag to unlock it. But yes if you bought an unlock key it would fully unlock it as unlock keys are usually direct from Samsung.

OEM unlock on the A50

Hi,
a lot has been written about how to get OEM unlock but there do not seem any definite answers. That's why I want to contribute my experience and ask for advice.
I took my brand new A50 (A505FN) fresh out of the sealed package, charged the battery, disconnected the cable and powered the device on without inserting a SIM card or anything else. I then skipped whatever could be skipped of the initial setup without enabling WIFI or connecting to any network. Then enabled developer settings, and guess what: OEM unlock was not there.
So are the exact steps known to get OEM unlock? 7 days of wait, but how? Connected to a network? WIFI? SIM card? Reboots allowed? Do I have to login to Google, Samsung accounts?
Any advice or experience much appreciated.
Thanks
This is standard. Samsung doesnt allow the oem unlock feature until 7 days after you own the phone.... but.... you can just roll the calendar back a month, reboot and it will show up! if that doesnt work, disable auto update, connect to wifi and check for updates, when some appear, click later. Reboot and check again. OEM unlock should appear.
Just turn of devoption connect to wifi turn dev option on and viola then just disconnect from wifi.
