hello, your Desire will not be branded.. thanks to the people (and me) who had complained about the 1.24.161.3 uptade (vodafone branded, very buggy & slow!)
enjoy the phone, dont root or do anything with it as it is your first android phone so it would be very likely to brick the phone if you do not read & or know enough
I am pretty sure you will have 2.2, however 2.1 is not that bad so no poit messing around with the phone to get 720p etc.. for me- it made no differace, just wanted the horrible branding off!
nice to see someone live close to me.. never saw anyone clocer than london..
hope this helps & enjoy the phone

welcome, to the dark side !!
thank you all... that would be sweet if its not branded like my tp2 was....
im inbetween slutton & croydon and work in east london atm.
ive heard alot of good things about android, only every really had a lil play with 1 or 2 android phones in the shops, couldnt test the internet ect...
but i wasnt keen on flashing my phones, must be why i got so annoyed with the tp2.
i will check out the link posted, and i will probly be posting up about more stuff if i cant find it in the search function.
You wouldn't be dissappointed with the Desire, infact, you wouldn't be dissapointed with any of hTC's android phones, especially unbranded ones. I strongly suggest you to flash a custom rom tho, they are quicker and more efficient than stock roms and should lengthen your battery life compared to normal stock roms.
Well I hope you will enjoy the phone, and have fun in the Desire forum
started using my desire last night, havnt evan had time to set anything up on it, i need to get used to the touch screen, soo used to having touch & type lol
have installed a few things such ass whatapp & juice defender because the people i work with rate that app highly with there galaxy S's

Nitro officially getting ICS.... eventually

So even though LG announced ICS for the Optimus LTE back in December, there was no mention of ICS for the Nitro specifically and there was some speculation that this meant AT&T had no plans of updating it.
Today AT&T announced ICS is available for the HTC Vivid, which has nothing to do with this forum, but the same press release listed several other devices that will get ICS "in the coming months" and the Nitro is among them.

Good news at least.
Already Announced?

With AT&T, if you're going to assume anything, assume the worst. So if there's no official announcement, assume there will be no update.
Now, there's an official announcement and a general time frame for the ICS update.
Well I found this article, looks like we will be gettin ics, maybe cm9 before the official release

Has anyone seen an LG device with their version of ICS yet? I'll be interested to see how they skin it.

There's what I assume is a leaked engineering version of ICS for the LU-6200. The post about it in the LU-6200 development forum has screenshots of it.

Quick Look at ICS on LG Nitro HD
Quick look for anyone who want to decide if they want to install it or not. UI is pretty cool. I am amazed.
Thanks designgears.

No, you won't be rooted and you won't be able to use CWM if you install this.
anyone notice their radio disables itself randomly? i have to switch airplane mode on and off to get signal back.

crush, i noticed your's does not have the carrier logo in the left side of the notification bar, mine has the stupid ATT there, did you remove your's?
perhaps it's installed after the leaked ROm is installed. it's soooo much nicer without it.

It's because he doesn't have a SIM card installed.
Unlocking LG Nitro P930 with ICS
I purchased a LG Nitro P930 (AT&T) that had been rooted and also has ICS
on it. I've tried to unlock the phone and have been unable to do so. I have
an unlocking code and I went to cellunlocker.net for help when I couldn't get
it to unlock. I followed all of the different ways to unlock it and it still won't work.
I've even tried 2 different sim cards in it and have the same results.
Has anyone been able to unlock this phone with ICS or have any suggestions
short of throwing it out (too expensive).
Any and all help will be appreciated.
Ivan
Yeah, assuming you have root (if you don't, root it) flash the official Gingerbread nandroid backups found in this thread using the dd commands. I don't understand how your device has ICS, though, unless somebody had access to what designgears just leaked to us or unless you're mistaking ICS for CyanogenMod or AOKP.
You might want to go ahead and make backups of your partitions before you flash the Gingerbread images, though.
You're Right
Thanks Malnilion.
Here's what the seller put in his description:
Auction is for a perfect condition LG Nitro HD Smartphone on AT&T Network with Android's latest OS installed, Ice Cream Sandwich via CyanogenMod 9 build. ICS is not available yet for this phone because LG/ATT have been dragging their feet on getting it ready. This phone is by far the nicest phone I have used in quite awhile. I've had the Galaxy Note, Galaxy Captivate, Nexus, Lumia 900, HTC Titan, and a bunch more. I test phones a lot. Screen is real HD at 720p and the best one of those I have seen. Colors are near perfect and detail is bright and crisp. Phone has been rooted and has ClockworkMod Installed so you can load up any ROM you want with a simple reboot. It was quite a task getting ICS on this phone but I was able to do it and it runs like butter. Really smooth and has full capabilities.
Hopefully this answers your question. The phone looks great with it and I'd like to keep ICS if I could but I need to get the phone unlocked and nothing I have tried so far works. Is my only answer to go back to the original OS or ?
Thanks
Ivan

hopefully the seller put a nandroid backup of the stock ROM on the sd card somewhere.......then with CWM you can easily backup your current ROM, restore the stocker & unlock the device and then restore the cm9.

new S2x (koodo) need to unlock and update and stuff, any help ?

So, I just bought S2 x from Koodo prepaid, so I own the phone. I need to unlock the phone, where is the cheapest place, I was thinking ebay as at least they have to do things on time for good feedback.
- then there is the software update and trying to get rid of anything koodo and as much samsung junk as I can, what is a good version of android to flash to it ?
I am was going to wait for the nexus 4 but it has been to painful waiting and i really wanted my phone for my upcoming trip to Thailand, so I gave up maybe I will get the N5 or whatever next year, I got the S2x for $280 Canadian all in, so I am pretty stoked as it did ring in cheaper in the end than the Nexus 4.
Anyone have any tips about this phone ?
Thanks
If you just want to remove the junk apk, search and flash a debloated ROM in the development section. If you want a decent rom to run and want more than just debloated features, the popular ones seem to be Jedi Mind Trick and Cyanogenmod 10, again in the development section.

[Q] [HELP] Upgrading, rooting, and SIM unlocking Verizon Incredible S2

Hey XDA Dev community! So I happen to have an old, but completely mint!, Droid Incredible 2 from when I first purchased it from Verizon back in 2011. I no longer use Verizon and switched to T-Mobile and now using a Z3. Anyways, birthdays are coming up soon and i'd like to hand my Incredible 2 down to my younger brother as a gift. BUT, of course as you all figured, there is a slight problem: the ADR6350 is SIM locked, running Android ver. 2.3.4 with HTC Sense ver. 2.1 basically bare bones stock stuck in the year 2011. So I'm trying to figure out if this handset can be upgraded to today's standards (at least ICS 4.00) rooted and unlocked. I'm definitely not wanting to use Verizon so I'm leaning towards T-Mobile prepaid. I'm trying to trick this little handset out for the little guy as I think the ADR6350 is still a half decent starter cell. So is it possible to get this cell up and running without Verizon's chains? I really hope so! because i'd hate to leave this perfect, more than capable, cell in a box for 5 more years to only be a shiny paperweight.. Please help! Walk me through step by step as I am a newb with cell rooting ect. (hence the S/N) But please, only proven stable mods or Roms though!
(mods feel free to move thread to proper location)
PM if you need hardware/software/IMEI #'s
THANKS!!!

Late to the party.

I am a very busy guy and I just bought my wife a S3 for a upgrade. Has 4.1.2 stock trying to figure out a quick root and upgrade to 4.4 can anyone point me in the right direction. I'd appreciate it. Oh and its a Straighttalk S3 SCH-S960L
Not sure how to root that specific phone. Look it up on the forums.
However,
Once rooted, don't bother with 4.4.4
Lookup Exodus 6.0.1 ROM for S3. I'm running it on my old S3 and its smooth as silk. Better than the day I bought it!
