Scalado - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Another new innovation from Scalado, cannot wait to start using this app....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flNomXIIWr4&feature=player_embedded

I am curious about the quality of the picture.
After removing people would it still be 5mp?

Ooh this looks promising!
I will ask my brother about this, he's actually a developer at Scalado!
*EDIT* He happended to call right after I wrote this, and yes the full resolution will be intact! Scalados' idea is to sell in their applications to companies rather than as separate apps, so hopefully we will see this implemented in phones in the future!
And stay tuned for more info at MWC

Could it be implemented to HTC phones first as in the Ad?

Looks like a fantastic idea. Would definitely get this app even if I hardly take photos. Conceptually it looks sound, but I wonder how far they've actually got with the app as I would assume the video is just a concept they pieced together.

It actually works! Look at the hand-on at engadget: http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/14/scalado-remove-clears-up-your-photos-we-go-hands-on-video/
And I don't know if I would call it an app, really, since it propbably won't come as a stand alone app for download.

I'm here because I believe in helping people get the most from their dash through greater information availability...that and I actually *like* some of the guys on this board.
That having been said, I'm not a fan of Microsoft who, unless there is significant competition from one or more outside sources, will *not* innovate since they know they have consumers by the balls.
I'm all for checking out Android since it's open-source. As it's about the only thing that promises major, widespread, worldwide consumer competition for Microsoft, it will hopefully light a fire under their respective asses to actually improve their stagnant PDA-phone operating system. The supposed WM7 pics and videos might be a start, but they're already way behind.
I've used smartphones since WM2002, and it really hasn't changed fundamentally since then. To use the current political language, Microsoft can only keep putting fresh lipstick on a pig for so long.

I am here because I own a Dash and I LOVE it.
I am here because YOU asked for our opinions.
I am here because this is a GREAT group of people with a lot of knowledge and skill.
However this discussion is about WM7, which the Dash WILL NOT HAVE.
Those Youtube videos don't even show 2 seconds worth of video of the phone, what exactly are we supposed to see?
Thanks for asking, but next time if you want peoples opinions, don't always expect them to agree with yours....
Beartard, you are absolutely right, I have had a PPC since day one, and its pretty much the same today as back then..
Wow, tough crowd. I appreciate the video surfacing again, and it shows some things which we did not appreciate then:
1) Sliding panels is coming to WM Professional.
2) The live mesh integration client is pretty cool.
3) WM7 is going to look cool too.
For the people looking for change over the years, I have been using WM since 2000, and I have seen plenty of change.

Windows Phone 7 Should Have Customizable Wallpaper

I know this has been discussed before.
But have a look at this!
http://pocketnow.com/windows-phone/windows-phone-7-should-have-customizable-wallpaper
If you like it, post a comment on pocketnow, lets make some waves so that MS can hear us.
They have allready made som other changes according to our wishes, so there is still hope.
Yes, I think there should be more options to customize the homepage.
Transparent tiles & Wallpapers spring to mind. But I don't think this is a case of them not wanting to offer things of that nature, I just think that level of customization is out of the scope of this phase.
Edit: I think it should exist, but personally I'd probably disable the transparent tiles. I'd probably use a wallpaper.
I like the black background. With a amoled it will look very good.
And the black Background is metro... And i like it ^^
I can't really see the point of wallpaper on the home screen. The tiles take up too much space and it would just clutter a nice clean interface.
I would love to have a wallpaper and the tiles half transparent.
I thought it would look ugly- but that dosn't look half bad- is it possible to develop an app which does this or wouldn't Mircosoft allow it?
I really like this. I'm hoping that we see this added in the first revision of the OS. The more customization options the better.
Wallpapers not featuring in this release doesn't mean that they aren't coming. Loads of stuff (actually, most of the stuff people critisize) has been left out for time constraints rather than as a design decision. I expect that includes wallpapers, it seems like an obvious thing.
edit... double post

i was an avid winmo user for years. wp7 not only looks like utter crap but it's more locked down than any phone ive seen. not being able to set my own theme or wallpaper is beyond ridiculous. this has nothing to do with me being a current android user. i just do not see this phone doing well until a crap load of changes are made, maybe by the devs. BUT from what i understand the devs won't be able to do much to it anyways. if i could shut off metro completely i may look into the phone just for the specs alone. most people i talk to agree 100% even loyal winmo devs. it's gonna take alot more than what wp7 currently has to offer to bring me back or most of the devs that defected to android. an believe me alot of them moved to android.

new fan WP7 ad I made

I'd seen a couple of requests for fan made ads by people disappointed with Microsoft and the carrier's advertising presence, and I've seen some, well, underwhelming, wp7 commercials on TV myself, so I figured I'd try my own since I work in that field.

For a commercial they typically like 30 seconds, but I thought it was great. Sometimes a little longer is needed to really tell a story. Well done.
I would agree you have great video production skills.
but...
too bad your efforts went to a phone that will go no where. And the features you are showcasing are features that have been around forever on the iPhone and Android devices. This is actually the problem with Windows Phones. Their ads are basically only saying that they kind of caught up. Unfortunately, they will never catch up in the number of available apps in the marketplace.
But good job on your vid dude.

It showcases the UI and interaction, which are much different than the other platforms. Who honestly cares about the number of apps still? Many of the "necessary" apps are already there, and many are much higher quality than on the other platforms. So long as more quality apps come along, and the ones you need are there, I think most can do without the other 299,000+ apps on the market. The needed functionality in the OS will come over time just like on the other platforms.

I agree... and I shouldn't have made it sound like number of apps was most important. Because quite honestly, I think that is one of my complaints about the Android.... way too many junk apps are allowed to stay on the market. But... even though some of the WM apps are quality, there are way too many apps that you just can't get yet on WM... and unless they change that real soon, this last attempt for market share will fail.
Thanks- that's a good point; however I wanted to focus on the integration of the UI. I don't use any apps other than what is built in to the default user experience- in other words- this is something that anyone can do with WP7, and you don't need any aftermarket mods (Android) or in-app purchases (ios) to do any of it.

I think its great man. I think it would be funny to do the exact same video with android or iOS and show the lack of cohesiveness between apps. I just converted from Android and I could not be happier.

Very apt words.
I saw this on wpcentral or something today, VERY well done! Looks pro, and you're right, it showcases what can easily be done with the native UI. Smartphones aren't about the apps, everyone has apps. It's about the UI. Why do you think Android is number 1 now? Cause it has an "interesting" UI. Much better than Apple's rows of boring boxes (although the iPhone is a very high quality device).
The problem I think is people's rightly held mistrust of Microsoft. They occasionally hit homeruns yes, especially lately. But in the long run, they're seen as the company that has software that will fail. This ad demonstrates what was missing from the original ads; the use of the core UI. Great great job.

OP, great ad!!!
Nice ad! A lot of the official MS ads didn't really highlight the uniqueness of WP7 UI and integration capabilities. For example, uploading to Facebook is so straight forward that you don't need to switch to another app. Great work on showing 'real-life' usage. Just one thing, as kieboy said, unless that number is fake (which it doesn't look to be), you might want to edit it out.

For someone who claims to be an expert analyst of the smartphone market, and knows that the phone isn't going anywhere, you've done a great job of missing the entire point of the ad. It wasn't really flaunting unique features, it was showing off the interaction and ease of use.

Totally agree, I just don't understand what people don't get about "BETA". That being said, there's a few features that aren't working yet & a few bugs, but guess what?!?!? This wasn't released for end users to test. It was released for Developers to be able to test their Mango Apps on a real device & not just in the Emulator. IMO, for a Beta, it's amazing, even better than NoDo.

not only did they do away with all our homebrew they didnt do anything that makes it better then it was or then the other OS's out there. Still just alot of little things that are missing. I think that they should put together an os that does all the stuff (simple things) you know that people buy 1 or the other smart phone for that reason... wow they would sell phones then. Not even gona go into those things you all know. There should be alot of things built in not third party.

My take? Not to mention Microsoft has the least assholish PR guys.

Really, Mango is a great update, even in beta state. Multitasking and the promised, more fluid scrolling in third-party apps is not yet available because there are no mango-programmed apps yet, but aside from that, it's pretty amazing.

Screenshots can happen, with a recently released app. But it requires a Dev.-unlocked system. Give MS time to get that in. Go vote for it here. MS is listening to everything people are wanting. If enough votes happen for a feature, they will likely implement it.
