Hotmail sync and haxsync - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

All I want to do with Hotmail is simply sync it so I get email alerts but even tho I've only got email sync ticked, I still end up with dozens of dodgy number such as "077 get stuffed" and such that's being dragged from contacts on Hotmail and dodgy email addys of people I might have talked to once ten years ago on MSN messenger being put in my contacts.
Also with haxsync, it hasn't pulled some contact pictures from Facebook no matter how many times I sync. Why's that?

Are you using the email client or a different app for Hotmail, coz I had the same problem.
The remedy: delete your Hotmail account and when adding another one make sure sync contacts and calendar are not checked. You have to erase the account otherwise you can't delete those contacts already downloaded.
Hope this helps.

Contact birthdays in the calendar

Hi, I cant see my contacts' birthdays in HTC calendar, although I have it ticked in calendars to display... anyone has a clue why?
I noticed that too and here is my workaround. The nice thing is that you now also have the birthdays on your Google Calendar on your PC.
For your Google contacts you can add a seperate calender from Google Calendar:
1. Go to https://www.google.com/calendar/renderOnline?tab=mc
2. -> Settings -> Calendars -> Browse interesting calendars -> More
3. Activate "Contacts birthdays"
For your Facebook friends, you can:
1. Use the Facebook iCal service from fbCal and add the calender to your Google calendar.
Link: www.fbcal.com (I had to use the alternative URL to make it work : www.menuo.ch)
OK, I already figured out the Facebook birthdays through FBcal. But I still have a problem with the birthdays I entered into my contacts in the phone, those I cant sync with either Google or the calendar in the phone.
I've had the Desire for 3 days and spent a lot of this time managing contacts. But it was all fun
Is this phone amazing or what? I just cant put it down...

Just Sync your phone with outlook. Outlook will create reminders for every birthday of your contacts. Then outlook callendar will sync with your phone! Voila!
Damn, I dont use Outlook I hate it. But if it's the only way so be it.
Shouldn't the phone do it automatically? I hope future updates will fix this.

Go to google calendar on your pc,
Choose to view other peoples calenders (like Chinese holidays etc)
Within the option is a add on calender that will sinc your contacts birthdays into the calender.

I'm having a problem with syncing birthdays from my Google Calendar.
The first time I did it I did it exactly the way you said. I synchronized my contacts with Google Contacts including birthdays using EboBirthday Contact Sync and it worked perfectly. I ticked Contacts' birthdays and there they were all in my Google Calendar and in my phone calendar.
The problem now is I've added some more birthdays, I can actually see them in both my Google Contacts and my Google Calendar but they don't sync with my phone calendar. Is there any workaround for that?

mac user in distress

I use MobileMe to keep my iCalendar & iMail contacts synced. I just switched from iPhone and can't get anything to sync. Is there an app that can help?
Try syncing everything with your google account. Then Android should be able to pull everything back to your phone.
As far as iMail...are you using it with a GMail account? If so just use the GMail app in android. Its better than the HTC Mail app imho. HTC Mail can do non-gmail emails however if you need that.
EDIT:
Lifehacker- Calendar
Contact Sync
I haven't tested this, but I think it might work
If your contacts are in your address book app on the comp, then you can export them in zcard format somehow and install from sdcard

Exchange contact sync by contact group or category

Hi there,
I have an exchange account which I am synching to my Nexus, including calendar, tasks, emails and contacts. For calendar, tasks and email I am using touchdown which works just perfect. My problem is the contacts sync.
I am still using the stock exchange client to sync my contacts, however I would love to sync only a specific group of contacts. Of course I can just sync all and the not display the groups I don't want, but they are still there and are annoying in som cases. I am not using touchdown for this, because touchdown doesn't sync birthdays to the contacts app.
I tried moxier and roadsync. Both don't seem to solve my problem. I would be greatful if anyone had a suggestion for another app, a setting or whatever to solve my problem.
Thanks
hmm... almost a hundread views, but no reply. So I guess I am asking for something that doesn't exist.

[Q] How to setup push email for galaxy note 2 stock email app?

I read that Microsoft is ending Exchange Activesync. I was able to use this to sync my main gmail account with the stock app for note 2.
Strangely enough, it's still working this year 2014, though I'm not sure after July 31, the scheduled date when EAS is finally removed.
The push settings really helped save my battery and I was wondering if there is a way to get push email with gmail?
Thank you

I really didn't understand your question but are you trying to ask if gmail "push" service would be available via stock "email" app and not the default gmail app that comes preloaded?
Aw sorry. I'm using the samsung stock email app with Microsoft Exchange activesync for my gmail.
The stock Gmail app doesn't have push.

umm as far as i know from personal experience the default gmail app does have "push" as long as "sync" is enabled if sync is disabled gmail won't act as push and you have to manually check for emails under gmail. Well i am still not clear as to what are you trying to ask ,cause you are talking about microsoft active sync and gmail together, they are two different email clients that behave differently and it doesn't matter if you use samsung stock email app or stock google/ aosp/aokp email app for receiving push notifications cause it depends on the email client if they offer "push" under "stock email" app .Like for eg under stock samsung/google/aosp/aokp email app if you use your yahoo id it doesn't have option for "push" but it can check for emails at certain intervals but if you use hotmail or gmail id it does offer "push" ,so my question to you is which email are you using under stock email app ?Is it GMAIL or HOTMAIL account?
