[Q] ICS Beta, How to capture a screen? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyway to take a screen shot without loading any other apps.
(I'd try power btn + vol down but seems like it doesn't work.)

Power Button and Vol. Down
works for me
try again, begin with power button first

Thank you very much, but when i press(hold) the power btn, then the menu pop up and when I press more on the volume down, the sound level still opened!
Is there any response or any notice when the screen was taken?

You have to press and hold both buttons at the same time.
Power + vol down
It makes cam noise ,gives preview and notification in notification bar
Good luck

Bell I9000M three button issue.. give it a try

Hi,
Like some other members here, i also have three button issue with my phone. I have tried so many ways and results were inconsistent, it would work some time and will not work other time. But here is a procedure that is working for me always. Give it a try and see if it works for some of you.
1. Turn off the phone
2. Plug in charger (It does not matter even the charger was plugged in when u tuned off the phone.)
3. Wait for battery signal to appear the one with partial green fill.
4. At this point press home volume up and power button in sequence.
5. you will see SGS screen. Keep all the button presses at that time.
6. After some time battery icon will appear. this time it will be gray one with no green fill.
7. keep all button pressed. gray battery icon will disappear and will appear second time.
8. Wait for 1-2 second and before second time grey battery icon disappear release power button and keep home and battery button pressed.
9. wait for some good luck.. you should see recovery screen.
And it could be just me. but it works for me all the time.
Thanks
that is because your phone is not defective
your phone did not have the 3 button mode disabled
No I have thee button issue. I would not work other wise.
I tried this, Volume Up + Home + Power got me to a "Forced Upload by Key pressing" screen, but no recovery. Vol Down + Home + Power just kept looping me back to the battery with no SGS screen
This is from a UK model i9000 with 3 button disabled.

Did U follow the exact sequence with charger plugged in ...
Then it may be just for I9000m Model... or just my phone..
It worked for me.. so i wanted to share it.. in case it helps other..
That's not gonna help you if you flash a ROM in way that your phone wont boot to even the battery screen. I've done it, luckily my SGS is not locked out.

So I release the power button and then... hold the power button? I'm confused.
Even if I wait the few seconds and release power, volume up, or any combination of buttons it just pops me back to the battery screen. No access to recovery.

I am sad to hear that.. So if i brick my phone.. and plug charger it won't even show me charging icon.. that sucks...
So i guess my method is useless anyways..

I just tried again ..works for me all the time..
So u released the power button when second time battery icon appear ?? make sure you release power button before the battery icon disappear second time..
If no luck.. the only thing I can conclude is that Samsung has no consistency in hardware design...

If you can get into download mode, you don't have any kind of 3 button issue. Your phone is fine, you just need to work on your timing in order to get into recovery mode.
There is nothing wrong with your phone.

How to take screenshots?

Hello fellows,
I have question about screenshots in SGS2. How I can take them? Only by special application, connecting it to PC via HDMI cable or another? I was just wondering to take some pictures from Galaxy on Fire 2 and Reckless Racing
Thanks and greetings.
Press Menu and Power at the same time.
shoot me on the market is good too. sometimes i want to take a screenshot while pressing a button and cant with the built in screenshot feature so i use shoot me.
you just shake the phone to take a screen shot.

Press both at same time is actually right. You can hold HOME and press POWER and release POWER and stay holding HOME though.
I'm using "screen capture" on the market
here's the link

HOME + POWER works like a charm, no root required, no need to install any additional apps

Hallelujah! I never got that, was pressing both buttons simultaneously which just locked the screen. This works better, though still not every time like on iOS.

[Q] How to take screenshot in ICS

Hi guys and gals,
I bought my wife the A100 a month or so ago and she loves it. One thing is puzzling me though. I was under the impression that with ICS you could take screenshots by holding the volume down button and the power button for one second. This doesn't work on hers. Am I doing something wrong?
It's volume Up + Power Button (in portrait mode) and volume Down + Power Button (in landscape mode). Hold it for about a second, and try to press them together also.
Good luck!

Thanks. I think what I was doing wrong was I was pressing and holding and waiting for something to happen before I let go. Instead all I had to to was press for about a second then let go, then it snaps the screenshot. I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 which has the (love it or hate it) Touchwiz UI with a screenshot button, so this was new to me. Thanks again.
I failed. I cant take screesnhot :/
Thanks for the tip, it works great, I was using Screenshot ER PRO.
Is your A100 rooted? Install AirDroid from the Play Store. It allows you to manage your tablet via a browser on your PC including taking screenshots. The connection is wireless via your Wifi network.

[REQUEST] [MOD] screenshot with button combo rather than swipe

wondering if anyone is able to modify the Samsung framework so we can have a hardware button combo (ie any combination of volume, home and power) to save a screenshot, rather than the stock implementation of palm swipe across the screen.
I find the palm swipe only works for me once every couple of tries, and can often scroll the exact content on the screen you are trying to capture.
Alternatively, Any app suggestions which can achieve this would also be helpful...
EDIT SOLVED already possible with stock frame work... Press and hold both power and home simultaneously for about half a second, and screenshot is captured.
Press n hold the power and home button together !
Power + Home presssed with correct sync indeed
Hmmm doesn't work for me on omega 4.1.... ?? I see online that this should work as an option... Any setting to enable it?
Edit.... Ok got it push both bottoms simultaneously and hold for half a second. Perfect thanks all.
I would have preferred if they stuck with the volume down+ power button combo like stock Android 4.0
Are you holding them in? I thought it wasn't working at first, turns out you just need to hold them both for about a second and it'll work.
I do prefer the SE way of having the option in the LongPressPower options but hey, I love my S3 more.

Glad I found this. The swipe gesture is frigging useless for anything that scrolls.
