USB Display Profile? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Is there a way or a profile option to make the display stay on when plugged into a USB source?

I miss having thus option from my nexus. Nope there's no USB on feature.

Thanks but that is not it. Following your directions only show me:
1. USB debugging (Debug mode when USB is connected) [ ]
2. Allow mock locations (Allow mock locations) [ ]
Neither of these have anything to do with keeping the screen on indefinately while connected to a USB source.
Also please don't start flaming. Gazment has a valid point.

I should also note, mine is T-Mobile USA non-rooted.

I did check before posting. C'mon now.....Here's proof.

Im curious then, is this only something that can be achieved by rooting? Does rooting a stock rom open up new/hidden options?
KH can you post your numbers - rom/build/ect...

I think it may be dependent upon which custom ROM you are running after root. My phone is rooted and running a custom ROM/kernel and under Development the only options I see are:
USB Debugging
Allow Mock Locations

What is there to thank? You came in all full of yourself acting like a jerk with your advice. Then only because of your faulty advice I had to ask you to verify if you were running stock or not - I only asked that BECAUSE of your sig.
So how about you take your condesending attitude and be off with yourself. You are/were more problems than help.

KillaHurtz,
You must not be running Jugs 5.0 because I'm running 5.0 and I have that option...

u might need to be rooted and run a custom rom to get that stay wake feature. i noticed it said in the juggernauts feature list it said "Stay Awake Option". if it was in the stock rom he probably wouldnt mention that. lol

Did you try that?
Suggestion: wipe then do restore.
Suggestion 2: turn of wireless connections let it sit for a bit, then turn it back on. Let it sit for at least 30 sec. That way it cuts the connection and reconnects fresh

Hows he supposed to do that without a data connection? Check your settings and all the obvious stuff first. Then try roms, radios, etc. I had the same issue with a hero, and it ended up being the phone. If under a year, it will be covered under htc warranty. Sprint replaced mine for free after having it for 8 mo.

Quick Question....

I know it's supposed to go in Q&A, but.... I know I'd get a quick one time response.
If I want to undervolt, do I need to install a kernel other than the stock one in order to do so with setcpu or CPUBoost?
Yes, you need a custom undervolted kernel.

Rant:
The bad part about asking in the wrong section is the information isn't available to someone else with the same question "they will be looking in Q&A" which is what the forums are for this also clutters up the forums aside from the fact it makes more work for the mods.

Bricked (complicated)

My Galaxy s3 is now what appears to be a hard bricked phone. The only response I get is a red light when I plug it in and a bing when I plug it into the usb port. No recognition by the computer though.
This was caused by me trying to flash the kernel to a very common one (siyah) and after it completed successfully I did a reboot, now it won't turn on or go into CWM recovery or basic android recovery.
I've exhausted every possibility I can think of /googled to solve it such as.
1) Taking the battery out
2) Trying to make Odin recognize it
3) Trying to boot into the various recoveries
4) Trying many a different button combos
5) Leaving it to charge for a while
The only think I can think of that I haven't tried is a USB jig.
My question is, what now? Help me, please.
Well your first issue is that we don't have a siyah kernel for the i747. So, yeah.
You might need to try a jig. I if that doesn't work then you will need to send it off to get jtag fixed.

+1 with sending the device to jtag
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Since you flashed an i9300 kernel, likely with bootloaders, and it won't do anything you will need to send it off for JTAG repair.
JTag time. You've flashed a kernel not meant for our device.
Thanks guys, I figured that was probably my only option. And I feel really dumb now. I'm used to jailbreaking, rooting it seems, requires you to be much more vigilant.
Thanks again.

Youtube and research my friend. Nearly can fix any phone no matter how bad you mess it up. Very rare that a JTAG can't fix a phone.

Help! Phone softbricked!

If anyone can help that would be awesome!
I've installed LGNPST from the IRC (autoinstall) All drivers are up to date as well.
My problem is my phone reboots at 67% (I know it's supposed to hang at 85%) and wont go past the sprint boot image, screen is "on" but black with lit up touch buttons that vibrate every so often... but stays at that.
Thanks in advance for any help
*********EDIT**********
So saw the lock screen flash very quickly and status bar pop up momentarily, gives me hope but still can't get it to flash properly...

Problem solved, thanks Shellnut2!

ALL questions even those involving development or , help (which most are) belong in the Q and A section. Development is for a developer to post something or someone who discovered something that can be useful to development to post

So what happened was after an initial LGNPST where it stripped root from my phone, but left all user data and apps on it, i attempted to re-root to try to remove unwanted apps
I used the AIO tool, and for some reason it didn't push the root files correctly, and really muddled up the firmware.
So after about 15 failed attempts to reflash stock, Shellnut2 on IRC thought it could be a problem with cashes, so he had me walk through Binarys root method, something went right with that cause the second it finished pushing SU my phone rebooted about 3x and was in working order again.
(And im fairly certain that my problem with LGNPST was a sub par usb cable)

but as they said, there's enough information about this situation. and about a dozen threads on this particular situation.
current? it has been like this eversince Google closed up the exploit with JB (rooting) - and unlocking without usb needs root. you could have known this by the following links below:
