I wanted a horizontal carry case that fits my phone + TPU case on days when I don't have a pocket in my jacket because I don't like having it in my pants pocket.
Look
The case is a big. Certainly adds to the dimension of an already sizable phone. I doubt it's genuine leather at this price, but the material seems nice and the case feels well-made. The magnetic flip cover also works well.
Functions
The leather case fits my t989+diztronic case snugly. There is some tension provided by the elastic sides to hold the t989 snugly in the case but not so tight that you cannot take the phone+case out. Further more, there is a cut-out on the bottom of the leather case that allows you to push the phone out.
Headphone port is accessible. None of the other buttons / USB port is accessible while the phone is in the leather case.
There is a clip on the black in addition to a belt loop. Either clip on to your pants, or use a belt with the leather case.
Conclusion
I like it for the build quality and look. It's just a bit big so I am not going to use it if I have a pocket in my jacket to hold the phone. On days that I have no pockets though, the case will be very useful.

This case looks promising. I ordered one for myself in hope that my mugen extended battery will fit. Any thoughts, will it fit smoothly or will I have difficulties?

Leather Holster case big enough to hold Vibrant in T-Mobile Gel Skin

Hey,
Does anyone know of a case that is big enough to comfortably hold a Vibrant in a t-mobile gel skin. The phone is so light and fragile w/o the gel skin, but I would really like to have a holster to carry it on my belt. Anyone know of a case thats might work for that purpose?
Thanks!
I actually have the T-mobile gel case and purchased the leather swivel hip case for the moto cliq from t-mobile. with a little bit of stretching they both fit perfectly. Not to much work to pull it out or slide in. Try this out. They have 2 cases at t-mobile. find the one with the magnetic button and not the concealed magnet. Good luck!
I found a horizontal Rocketfish leather holster that is a perfect fit for the Vibrant with an average thickness gel skin at Best Buy. Not too snug, not too lose; feels like it was made for the phone.
I can't find a link to it on their website but it was a universal case and, suprisingly, very well constructed with soft black leather.
It has a swivel clip but it lays flat against the case so the phone doesn't protrude far from your waist.
I bought a leather holster that's made for the EVO from a Sprint store. It fits great with the tmo gel skin on it.

I got the same one. A few days of pushing my phone in the case it fits perfect.
The best fitting case is the leather holster sold by Verizon for the Droid X. It is a perfect fit with the T-Mobile gel skin.

[Review] Trident Kraken AMS on GSM Nexus

First of all, i would like to thank the people over at Trident (www.tridentcase.com) for sending this case out to me.
Packaging - The box is pretty simple. Shows the product and the different colors it comes in. Black, Red, Pink, Green, and Blue. i will be showing off the black model. Inside the box comes a screen protector kit, which includes the screen protector, microfiber cloth and a applicator/squeegee card. The case retails for $49.95.
Case - The Kraken AMS case is a heady duty 3-Layer case which features a shock absorbing silicone, a polycarbonate plastic shell, rubber dust covers over the microphone and speaker, rubber covers over ports (charger and headset), and holster. The silicone part, or Perseus can be used as a stand alone case on days that you don’t need maximum protection, but will still give u good drop and scratch protection. The two polycarbonate shells cover the silicone to make the case durable. The case has a nice lip around the screen for a lay on table design. One accessory that the case comes with is a really durable metal kickstand. They also have other Kraken accessories which make the case more usable in everyday life. such as an AMS Bike Clip, AMS Tripod Mount, AMS Headphone Organizer, AMS Seatbelt Clip, and AMS Windshield Mount.
Thoughts - My thought on the case are it is made of very high grade materials. everything fits. cutouts are precise. I’ve only had the case for a few hours and i love it. the silicone is way much better than the otterbox defender. it feels of quality and doesn't attract lint. the volume and power buttons feel better than the naked buttons to me. the kickstand is SOLID and does its job great. the holster is just as heavy duty as the case and rotates so you can wear it comfortably. i will update the in a few days to give more opinions...
Pics - I will have pics of the phone with the case tomorrow, as my nexus is my only camera at the moment.

Conclusion - I think the case is well worth the $50 you are paying. you are getting a heavy duty case that can be used as a lightweight case also that provides an ample amount of protection. I would definitely recommend this case to anyone who is looking for an overall great case that will add bulk to your device.
if u feel i left something out or want to ask a question. go ahead. thanks.
But will it blend? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAl28d6tbko&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Seriosly though, If this fit a mugen 4000 battery id buy it. But so many premium cases none of them expandable

Can't wait to see some pictures of the phone inside the case.
Some questions...
First, how do the two plastic pieces (the front and back) fit together?
On my otterbox defender, they just snap together with some tiny little clips and after about two drops 3 out of 4 clips are already broken so the only thing holding them together is the silicone cover that goes on the outside. I'm hoping the kraken is a lot more rugged in that aspect... The otterbox is great at protecting the phone but the case itself is already trashed after a few drops which isn't cool.
Second, how bulky is the kraken? It looks bulkier than the otterbox defender, especially on the sides since it looks like it has a ridge sticking out from either side of the screen. Does it feel good in the hand? My defender definitely makes the phone about 30% thicker which makes it less comfortable to hold but I've gotten used to it. Don't know how I'd feel about the ridges on the Kraken however.
Anyway thanks for the review.

hmmmm. might just scratch, but not blend.
the two plastic pieces fit together nice and tight. the top and bottom are snap together. but the sides are actually placed in slots, it can be slight difficult to remove if u don't have nails. but i see that as a good thing. the Kraken would take some time to show wear and tear.
it may b just a tad bit bulkier, but the grip is a for sure thing. the poly carbonate is not glossy but isn't matte. it's sort of in between but doesn't show finger prints. the sides have ridges for better grip as well. i actually thought the defender felt great in hand, maybe because i have small hands tho.
few more pics.

the case fits the GSM extended battery with no problems at all.
Does this case make it hard to press the volume and power buttons? And it seems to cover up the notification light at the bottom doesn't it?
the buttons are the best thing on the case IMO. and the notification light isnt covered.

HI, just wondering if you wound up getting the 2000mah battery afterall and if so, how well it fits.
if it fits 100 percent with extended battery im a get one to
i recently bought one it appears the notification light is 40% block.. i'm using the standard battery gsm version could that be the reason i wonder
I have the same case with the extended battery (Sprint) and everything fits perfectly. The notification light is about 50% blocked but I dont use it anyways so it did not bother me much. The notification bar is easy to pull down with no interference with the top of the case like with the otterbox. The case can take a beating I have drop tested survived a 12ft drop. Even though it adds bulk because it is hard polycarbonate on the outside it makes it really easy to get in and out of pockets even with tighter fitting jeans.
Also if you have a Costco or Sams Club near by you can pick up the case for $30 instead of $50.
Seidio convert is better.. options for all gnex models and batteries

I would recommend it if you are looking for a case that offers similar or even more protection than the Otterbox Defender. The case adds quite a bit of bulk to your phone though so that may turn off some people.
Throughout the work week, usually switch between the Kraken, Otterbox Commuter, and the SGP leather pouch. The Kraken will be used only if I have to go out to do field work.
The Commuter is only used if I feel like I don't want to use the SGP pouch. Otherwise I end up using the SGP pouch most of the time on the slower days of work where I'm just stuck in the office.
I'm leaning toward the Kraken because I've read a couple of story about how the Otterbox defender was scratching phones.
I have a commuter right now but I need something more rugged for work and also to protect my GNex from my crazy kids
saintpanache
If that's the case, the Kraken would be a good purchase for you. My Kraken case has held up well when I drop my phone when I'm out doing field work. Very durable and well worth it!

Leather Horizonal Holster Case

Just made the jump from S2 to S3. I have the QCell extended battery and TPU case. Anyone know of a belt/horizontal leather case that will hold this monster?
I'll be checking this thread. I don't have an extended battery but I have the Otter Box Commuter on mine. Would like to find a nice belt case. I still can't get used to putting it in my pocket.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Look for a luximo case.. I am not sure it can hold an otterbox, but it has stretching sides and is larger than most belt cases. It worked well for me. I found mine on ebay, but I have seen it on amazon as well. A simple search for S3 and luximo should find it.
Luxmo
I have the Luxmo horizontal case myself (with magnetic front flap, two-belt-loop and one clip on back). It works reasonably well.
I have a cheap no-name hard-shell case on the SG3 (which I now use without the original accompanying holster because the holster grip got loose and the SG3 slipped out and fell to the ground twice; but that's a separate topic).
Although the SG3+hard case fits the Luxmo case, putting in and taking out is a two-handed operation as the phone doesn't "slide" in/out easily. This is due to the Luxmo's side elastics catching on the USB port or headphone jack opening of the hard case. Perhaps a more "slippery" TPU case or smooth plastic case would work better.
But the SG3+hard case does fit inside the Luxmo snuggly and I've been pretty happy with it.

Best case for Our phone

I currently have the ballistic SG case and was wondering if you guys would recommend any other cases out there?

Simple TPU case (black) from eBay works for me.
I am using the CIMO S-Line TPU Case. It looks nice and it protects my phone.

I would say the D30 cases from t mobile. Bought one of amazon for $10, Fits like a glove and protects pretty good.

I'm currently switching between the white body glove case from T-Mobile and the PDair leather case. I really like the leather case cause it protects my screen.

D3o cases are junk. Especially the ones with the softish plastic backing. The all black one piece is alright, but still junk.
The ones with the colored plastic backing are prone to cracking just be taking off the case. Big no-no since I wash my case periodically.
On top of that, the 3.5mm slot is too small. Only slim jacks fit while the d3o case is on. I'm not willing to change my Sennheisers just because design flaws of the case.
Don't forget how much force it takes to push the power button. Over time, this can damage the power button by recessing it in. I switched to the white body glove. Its properly designed and does what I need it do.

i have a case similar to this, one of the amazon variants.
any who i really like the design, especially the thick corners which is what many times takes the impact of the drop. i have not had problems with screen bubbling up either
I purchased the white body glove case from tmobile store and its doing the job. I've dropped the phones a couple of times already, and its still doesnt show any scratches unless your eyeball is touching the case.
I got one from moster accessory website called the black transfusion hard cover case an I really like it as my second case. My first case was the D30, but the transfusion case was more cheaper than the d30.

I came upon an older Targus holster for Palm PDAs back from 2000. Its got that old brown leather look with a velcro snap and velour interior padding. Enough room for my Herc wrapped in its TPU.

Belt clip/pouch with slim armor case?

I just bought the spigen slim armor case and am having a very difficult time finding a belt pouch that fits.
I measured out the dimensions with the case on and it is 5 3/4" x 3" x 1/2"
i am also thinking about maybe getting a pouch that was made for a different phone that is slightly larger than the nexus 5.
anyone have any luck?
Update: looks like no one responded to me but i'll post this anyway...in case anyone is interested
http://www.amazon.com/Luxmo-Horizontal-Leather-Holster-Carrying/dp/B008FQVO5G/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A119K31BOSN2QF
I bought this pouch and it is a perfect fit for the Nexus 5 + slim armor case...the dimensions are 5.9" x 3 x 1 which was the closest ive found so i took and chance and it was a great choice..you can get it for like $5 but i went with the seller that had it for $7 (prime shipping)
Just came across this - do you think it'd have enough room for a bigger case? I have the Ringke Fusion which isn't a very thick case, but it's thicker than the spigen slim.
Also how has it held up? I can be a bit rough on my belt loop cases (keep getting caught on seatbelts and such) and I had one like that rip on me after a couple of weeks.
Thanks in advance

Is the Ringke Fusion bigger up/down or just thickness? If it's thickness it should be fine.. There is some wiggle room there... But of course I can't guarantee you
You should measure it and compare it to the dimensions I posted above
The belt loops are pretty durable.. There are two loops and a metal clip... Very sturdy

I'm currently using a Seido Dilex holster with my Ringke Fusion and it fits perfectly. I got tired of trying to find a pouch that will fit. As for your case, I would look into the holster for their covert case, you'll just need to know the thickness of the case to see if there's any wiggle room or will it fit snug.
Just my thoughts.
Is there anything like that that will hold the phone vertically and not horizonally? Doesn't have to be a complete pouch, but just some kind of 'cage' that holds the phone+slim armor case on a belt, but vertical.

just measure the dimensions that search for a phone case that fits it vertically...horizontal one that i bought is for the S3 and it fits...so you can start by trying to search for S3 vertical pouches

Look at these two holsters Seidio. I don't work for them, just love the holsters. They do rotate as well. The Surface holster will fit case that are less than 2mm thick and the Dilex will fit cases that are less than 2.2mm thick (Ringke Fusion needs the Dilex due to the "feet" of the case) I'm assuming the Dilex is need for the slim armour case as well, I can't find the thickness of the case.
