Post Pictures Taken By Your Sony Xperia S - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Just getting this thread ready, possibly the most important thread for this device.

Maybe videos as well, but not youtube (converted), originals? Let's say, up to 50MB. All in one thread.

Great thread... really waiting for original photos and video's because what you find on the internet is rather to small or converted to another format.

No offence to zaynal, but maybe camera is good as well. Let's call it even and say, both. All are great pictures, btw.

Yeah, good camera. Most probably will bring this everywhere instead of my PnS camera.

very nice shots.. thx!

WOW! The days shots are good but the night ones really test the sensor and those ones are amazing! They would be excellent for a compact camera so from a phone they are very impressive

Loving KL....

A few macro snap shots. Non-edited photos and resized by Flickr:

wow, those night shots are amazing! I know lots of fairly expensive compact cameras that wouldn't be able to do this.
How exactly did you take the pictures? Did you put the camera on something so that it is very still or did you just take them free hand? Any settings you had to play with?

Free-hand. All auto settings.

those tower pictures at night are amazing for being free hand shots. could you upload the originals? i would be interested how much noise there is, because i cant see any noise at all at those resolutions, which is really good considering the light conditions.
were those pictures taken with the final retail phone?

Dude I'm so jealous right now, damn the night shots are mind taking.

[Q] Arc camera problem

When i compare a picture taken with the 2mp option and one taken with the 8 mp option there is no difference in quality. Both have the same amount of noice and look equally bad when i view them on the computer. Nothing like the sharp pictures shown in the Arc photo thread.
Is my Arc faulty? Can the photos taken with the 8mp option in reality be only 2mp?
Grateful for any help. Thanks
Can you post some pics here taken with your Arc?

Z1 compact and Z3 compact camera or Z2

Hi,
I have great offer to buy Z1 compact. Is there any difference in camera between Z1, Z1 compact, Z2 and Z3 compact? Any important improvements etc? Please help me fast
Thanks!
No big difference, I had Z1C, I had Z1, they have the same camera

And photo quality is good? I have HTC Sensation with 8 Mpix camera and I want to have better photos. Weakly I'm taking 100 photos of documents etc. So the most important for me is photo quality, not video recording
Picture quality is unpredictable, just don't use superior auto, use manual mode with auto ISO, still a lot better than superior auto because it just can't always recognise scenes well..
When you use Manual Mode+Auto ISO, you will get amazing picture quality, still one of the best on the market

I can see that you own Nexus 5. Wat about Nexus 5 photo and Z1c?
Z1C is miles ahead in picture quality, better in daylight, low light without flash, indoors, N5 is only better in macro shots and low light with flash

The light flare in z1c is horrible for mine. When there is a strong light in a corner of photo, my photo gets either wash out of darkens or have a area that seemed misty. Slightly better in z2 camera. No such thing in note3, mi3 etc.
But under strong light, photos can barely be touched by other phone.

Hey guys, I have plans to use the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and I am person love photography on smartphones. But I still do not know the exact quality of the images on this smartphone. So, I hope you will share to me some its photos. And of course, let's you show me some pictures that were taken at different conditions (strong light, full light, low light, night ...).
Thank You! :fingers-crossed:

I have created a topic for just that reason. So that people with doubts can take a look at the pictures and decide whether it's good enough or not.

Moto Z Play Camera is Bad

I went from a Nokia 929 to the Moto Z Play and I really hate the camera on the Play.
Could I take a camera module from the Moto Z and put it in the Play since the phones are so similar?

I have S7 edge and Moto z play and love the pictures from the moto z play. The s7 makes all the pictures yellow shade.

I find it difficult to get clear pictures without the OIS that the Moto Z has, I really have to focus to hold my hands steady.

Yeah I have no issues with stabilization for pictures. And they turn out great without even trying to get a good shot
I'll agree, this camera blows. My Moto X Pure kills this thing. I go to lots of EDM shows, and the Z play constantly fights to focus, if at all, during video recording. Yet the Snapchat camera pulls video flawlessly, but the audio is ruined. Probably an issue with the stock camera software or the stock camera api. Just my two cents.
Agreed. There is also a sh*t tone of noise in photos...specially indoors. My lower budget grand 2 takes better photos.
It isn't.
Coming from a Samsung Note 4 the Z Play camera quality was a big concern for me. But actually it's better than the Note 4. Samsung applies way too much denoise and sharpening filters which you could see a lot in outdoor images with trees and so on. (Giving everything a "watercolor effect".) Of course they do not have so much noise on the other hand but images clearly lack of detail with Samsung software.
The Moto Z Play gave me more details compared to the Note 4 (which is the same module than Galaxy S5). Also low light is better. Overall for me quality was on par for example with the OnePlus three of my son.
The only thing I agree which is missing is the OIS. You really have to concentrate to hold the phone steady when taking HDR images. Without HDR I don't have issues though. On the other hand HDR images are really good to increase the images dynamic range.
I also switched to Snap Camera app (not to be confused with Snap from Lineage) which gives me a lot more options compared to the stock camera. There I completely disabled the denoise filter and lowered the sharpening filter to -2. This gave me even more details without sacrificing the Quality with to much noise. Beside this it has 4K Super Slowmotion and an enhanced HDR mode for really hard conditions.
I noticed that a lot of People judge the images only on the small phone screen and don't zoom in an look at the details. Also they expect images to perfectly come out with auto mode and not trying to play with the settings and optimize them.
Some images at full Resolution. Most of them were shot under not so ideal conditions but I think they are good espacially with the given conditions. Just click on the links below:
A lot of small details in this image which come out really well. Also the dynamic range and the colors are great I think.
Denoise disabled too, maybe a little to much sharpening. Therefore noise came out a little to much but nice details if you look at the meadow, trees and roof.
Optimized the sharpening filter a little.
A shot against the rising sun. You could still see details of the plants in the foreground.
Very dark - actually it was darker than it appears on the image:
how dare you
As I said, video recording=trash
Pictures I have no gripes about.
But with lots of lighting changes, LED boards, lazers, etc, camera won't focus for $}{!π and that's beyond annoying.

totally agree. Cameras of mobiles are not going to replace an SLR or even a good compact camera. Take it for snapshots or leave it.

Yea! Rightly said.
Motorola phones have always had bad to mediocre cameras. Little has changed. Everybody raves about the Pixel camera. I consider it ok. Nothing I've seen yet touches the LG cameras with the Sony sensor. Unfortunately you have to put up with phones that last between one month and one year.

I really want to know this. I have wondered the same thing.
I agreed with this phone the lack of ios its impossible to take pictures with good focus i tried to take pictures of my child's while playing but no success at all i came from a note 4 and for me the photos were great with the ios I'm planning to change to the s7 edge

The Z Play camera has an annoyingly slow autofocus, but you still can get nice pictures from time to time. The video-mode is total crap and completely unusable for the same autofocus-reason.

Can you make video of speed Test between Z PLAY and S7 EDGE and upload it on YouTube?
Will be AWESOME!
Wanted to chime in and say the Snap Camera app is a godsend for videos. Camera actually focuses, and stays focused. Tested last night at Deadmau5, through lasers, and flashing lights, perfect recording.
I really wish there was a way to just permanently disable "night mode" on the stock camera. I've had to go back to Open Camera for my photos because they almost never come out blurry. The stock camera changes to this mode with the slightest change of lighting and ends up just making the photos look like absolute garbage.

General Some initial photos - Hibicus Flowers

Here are some snaps I took early this morning, so light was low. EXIF has been stripped to remove location. I will post the exif later minus location, hmmm the photos have all lost detail uploading. Have linked below to my flickr photo album for Pixel 6 Pro, Post #9
This gives me hope. I like to take close-ups of insects. I'm pretty much a point & shoot type of photographer. Were there special settings for this photo?

@wekebu If your interested I have posted a few more shots into the my flickr account. A couple more of the same flower from earlier in better light and more macro style, unfortunately it was super windy so hard to get focus exactly right. One pixel RAW manually edited photo to compare with google auto one, some basic landscape shots at various settings.
