Codename Android is a fully open source rom that focuses on speed, usability, and getting every feature that we can get CRAMMED in there .
Our mission is to spread the Open Source Android love to as many people as possible, and get as many people involved as possible. Along with the rom there will be tutorials to get more people involved and learning how to build android step by step.
We are pleased to announce the CodeName Android ROM Utility. All info about it can be found HERE as well as the download link. For now it will act as an app that will centralize all downloads for CodeName Android. There is one feature that needs to be added. The missing feature is the flashing of zips through recovery but we are working hard on this and should have it working soon.

3G
4G
WiFi
GPS
Camera
Youtube
External SD (mounted as emmc in rom see Known issues for install problems with apps)
MMS
Known Issues:
Market Apps error out on installing (SDCARD Issue): Work around is to plug the phone to your computer and mount USB Storage.
Lockscreen Wallpaper: It will work till you try and Crop the Image then give an error. There is no current work around for this (Also happens on AOKP)
Clock Widget: Leaves extra old characters when changing size/style for AM/PM (Status Bar Option). No work around this is a CODENAME issue Not a Port issue.
Video Camera: While it will Start to record once you stop the recording it will crash. (no known work around right now)

Install Instructions:
Installing for the first time:
- Make sure you're running a proper working CWM like the one from CM7
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CODENAME zip
- Flash Gapps
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (as sometimes your calendar sync will not work) DO NOT WIPE SYSTEM or the assert script will fail
- Reboot
- Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup! (Some users have been able to do this. This is left here just as a warning however if it works for you cool me know)
Or
-Flash EL26 stock CWM kernel via ODIN/Mobile ODIN
-When phone begins reboot, Hold Power + Volume up until boots into recovery.
-Wipe data/factory, cache and dalvik cache
-Flash ROM
-Flash Gapps
-Reboot
(Please Note I do NOT use this method for installs. However it has worked for other users in the past so I am putting it here since it could cut down install time/upgrade time.)

Not everything is fixed there are still a few issues. Pretty much take CM9 issues and this has them also I think T.C.P is going to take the parts from my thread and put them into his so give him some time to get things up and running.
Regardless of the bugs this rom is AMAZING!! Thanks TCP!!

How do I install the new jelly boot 6? I'm confused is it recovery or hboot? Thanks to any replies

So this ROM is supposed to have all of the features of the different ROMs in one? It sounds like a slow ROM that takes up a lot of room lol has anyone tried this yet?

Umm no this rom is very fast actually, and deep sleep works great. I lost 3% battery over 5hrs of idle with POWERSAVE and NOOP.
is it just me or is the zip file for v15 corrupt? when i try to flash via twrp i get an installation failed everytime. rom seems a little small @ 97mb (i think v14 was like ~1-mb?)

Hello everyone! I've been playing around with building AOKP from Source for my own phone to learn how android works and just to give myself something to do. I've been running my own nightlys for a while now and figured I'd share with the community!
Code:
AOKP is a WORK IN PROGRESS; some things might be broken or missing.
I'm still learning to build roms; I may have broken additional things.
Don't flash any of my builds unless you are comfortable
with reverting to a prior ROM in case something does go wrong. Keep in
mind that I build these for fun
I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PHONE EXPLODES.
You've been warned. ;)
This was built from AOKP source
AOKP Website
AOKP Gerrit
Thanks to the team KANG for an amazing product and all their hard work!
Thanks to the Cyanogenmod team for all they've contributed to Android. We wouldn't be where we are now without them!
Thanks to all the Devs who submit commits to AOKP Gerrit - this keeps the project flowing and gives me cherries to pick
Thanks to hoang81 for helping me troubleshoot my initial 4.2.1 rom and get the Toroplus radio working properly!
Thanks to all of you who try this ROM for making the time I spent on this worth while!
Want to know how current this rom is?
If you dont see a rom for the date shown in the link above, It's coming soon
What I've changed:
- Boot Animation changed to my own creation. It's just another something for me to play with. If you don't like it you can always change it
-= Cherries picked from gerrit.aokp.co =-
None for the initial build
Coming soon!
Custom Wallpaper for new installs
What works:
Most things works for me from what I've noticed
What's broken?
Everything in order to run as a daily should be working!
I noticed the ROM seemed a little sluggish at first but after getting it all set up and running it runs great!
Some menus seem to force close on me from time to time. I've not been able to get it to be consistent so it may have from my backup restore process.
It seems live wallpapers do not work for me. I'm not sure if its only me or not. Can anyone confirm?

Yes, I would really like to do this.
Goo.im requires a XDA recognized developer account in order to use their services and XDA requires me to share my work with the community to become a recognized developer.
Lets hope this gets the ball rolling

Thanks lowlow!
I appreciate your support!
I havent heard about the 4.2 launcher myself but ill look at it later today. Much of the 4.2 stuff will be tricky to get working. Its unreleased and theres no telling what else will change between now and the release date of the N4
Also, I'm not sure about the 3G tweak. I've never used one before. I'll have to do some digging on how all that works and what it really does.
Lowlow try this. I haven't tested it yet

General Info & Introduction
Android Open Source Project: Or in short AOSP. Android is an open-source software stack created for mobile phones and other devices. The Android Open Source Project (AOSP), led by Google, is tasked with the maintenance and further development of Android. Many device manufacturers have brought to market devices running Android, and they are readibly available around the world.
Rooting: Android rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphones, tablets, and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem. Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices, resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise inaccessible to a normal Android user.

At last! ROMs are finally coming through. Thanks a lot!
Ok,i flashed the rom,i like it,especially the customization options.
One small request and suggestion,if i may.i'm using 240dpi and at this value, the answer call button is off centered to right.chasmodo from n7000 section gave me the solution, but it's up to you if you test it or not.
I quote him:
This works for n7000, I fink it'll do the trick for Optimus, too:
1. go to packages/apps/Phone/res/layout/incall_touch_ui.xml and
2. find the line that contains
|android:gravity
3. change it to be
|android:gravity="left|top"
4. get the build going
Thanks.

Great rom! Everything seems to be working fine. Why is there no option to edit hardware key functions in lockscreen? I've never seen a custom ROM without that option.

If you have unlock the bootloader, for our devices it's volume down+power then you are in bootloader press twice volume down then power to go to the recovery.
Guys, make sure you have cwm recorey, not twrp.
I flashed latest touch recovery with romtoolbox. With twrp i softbricked my phone when i tried to flash official cm 10.1 few days ago

Cyanogenmod and Cynogenmod-based ROMs have a few issues on the XPERIA Arc. These are mainly no 720p recording capability and no Wi-Fi tethering. I'd like to know whether these two function well on this particular ROM. What about NFC? Additionally, will flashing a ROM wipe the EFS partition? Do let me know, because I'd really like to make the switch over to this ROM. What bugs have you all encountered, if any?

No fc so far with DSP but getting settings has stopped from display and lights.
Nice to see another ROM. Just a hint that CM11 had some known issues such as frozen, crash and reboot symptoms in the build bewteen 4/10 maybe till 5/15 (???), but in recently build (5/18), the issues seems resolved and getting more stable. If your ROM is based on the "problem" build, I would suggest you to rebuild the ROM based on the fixed build of CM. Thanks.

here are some themes compatible with new cm theme chooser that you might like:
dark green theme
thyrus darkui
cm great freedom
in some cases not every theme works as it should be cause cm theme chooser is still not bug free
i also noticed that some themes consume more battery than others
maybe you like one of them
Gps - bluetooth
how is the GPS working?
is it connecting fast or takes time like most of CM builds?
same question for BLUETOOTH, any issues?
the reason i am on SENSE roms is due to those issues that always appear when i am on CM builds.
thanks for the answers
how to change CWM to TWRP should i manually delete the CWM folder on internal storage?

You ask this in a rom development thread ? If you are not familiar with flashing a recovery you are in the wrong place
But to give a pointer ..... a recovery is flashed via fastboot. Deleting a folder on the sdcard won't do anything.

It's for this very reason I have sworn off all HTC phones after this one. Had problems with the Evo too but I didn't learn my lesson :/
