Does that fit the bill?

I was more searching for a mirroring app not just a media player one so that i can play my games or anything else on the screen, something else coming?
thanks

i dont think there is away around an MHL adapter with some HDMI cables... Someone please prove me wrong! id love to do this without any wires!

Nope no mirroring afaik.

Think you have to wait for the wifi display (check wikipedia) standard to be rolled out.

NO its unfortunate but there appears NOT to be an HDMI cable coming for our phone. The only wired method for video is Composite and maybe S-Video, but that will NOT be HD.
Your best best is DLNA. I would highly suggest getting a device that can run either XBMC or Boxee as both support an always evolving list of codecs, removing any worry of playback though DLNA.
What are you dislikes abut adding a DLNA capable streamer to your TV?
so... i have a brand new 50" 8000 series Samsung plasma that DOES support DLNA. does that mean i can stream video off my phone?!
EDIT: omg! this is awesome. streaming wireless...perfectly! using allshare.

Is this confirmed working with the vibrant? It says needs software update to work, last time I read that was for the dock and it required 2.2.
This again? That cable is old news. It was confirmed to NOT work. Samsung also said themselves that it won't work. Unfortunately, not all areas of the internet have been cleaned up appropriately. The site linked to in post #4 even says it won't work until Samsung makes it work.

Ever heard of doing research before making an ASS out of yourself. What the hell is wrong with you that makes you need to replay to an obviously helpful post with a snide remark? How about you go to the kiddie table until you learn to interact with adults in a proper manner.
Thank you for playing, come again.

HTC Media Link HD

Who's getting one?
I think it looks awesome, but a little expensive so I had some doubts if I should by it or not.
But now my carrier is providing me one for free because of delayed delivery on my HOX.
Any of you guys getting one?
Will we be able to use it with other phones/tablets?
I really want to use it with my gtab 10.1, so it would be awesome if someone could figure out, maybe porting the app (if its and app) from HOX to other devises.

Yes Im getting one but only because it came free with my One X order. In answer to your questions yes it can be used with other devices.
Ive got the standard media link adapter as well and that works perfectly on my Moto Xoom. If your concerned about the price there are cheaper alternatives that do the exact same thing. Just have a browse on Amazon for DLNA receivers.

The Media Link for the One series is different than the previous HTC Media Links (basically DLNA media players), in that it can mirror what you see on the phone's screen. So it's more like a "smart" wireless HDMI connection, since once you start media playback, it switches to media streaming mode like the old Links, and the phone can be used to do other things without interrupting the video on the TV.
I like the idea of playing a game through this, but there is noticable latency, so no Shadowgun, but Angry Birds would probably work well.

Does anybody know exact differences between DLNA and HTC media link technology?
I have a DLNA TV (LG 47LW575S), it is connected to my wireless router. I wonder, if it is possible to connect HOX without a "media link"...
Also, I don't want to have 2 wireless networks in my house.
I'll try to stream media as soon as receive my HOX (just ordered) and post a result here.

I have been using my one x to stream to the ps3. there are various dlna server apps in the market, I personally use BubbleUPnP on my one x. regarding the battery life, well if the screen is off I generally find the battery doesn't go down too quick, even while streaming or on a long call. the display is what seems too suck battery ie: games or browsing the web. anyway id save your money unless you really want to use all your apps on a large display/tv. or buy a mhl to hdmi cable online for a tenner does the same job as the medialink, though wired.

ive just ordered one and the speaker dock as well.
does anyone know if this is actually dnla so other devices would work (such as my pc and my archos 101 tablet), also is there a built in battery in the media link as the specs say there is a "charge cable" - if there is whats the battery life like on that. i hope there is as this would be ideal on my already crowded outlets by my main tv with xbox, wii, bluray, tv, tivo reciver, surround system, cable modem and finally the router.
thanks guys
my understanding was the media link only worked with Sense 4, so not sure its compatible with all devices. It is compatible with all TVs/monitors that have a HDMI port. THe Media Link comes with a built in rechargeable battery which is charged the same way as your phone with a micro usb cable.

Does anyone have any news about the availability of this item? I have already had to cancel several orders online, due to online retailers saying they have it in stock. A couple say they have it in stock but when you order, your order goes to backorder... So anyone with information about when its going to be released, or who the first company is to get it... that would be very helpful to me. PS. dont order from mobicity.com.au !

Not necessarily. It'd be nice to be able to take this to someone's house, connect it to their tv, and stream a movie or something. Sometimes finding an available outlet in those situations is annoying.
So I'm also wondering about battery life..

I couldnt agree more. People are reluctant to have you messing with the plugs on their television and peripherals. If you could simply plug into hdmi and watch a movie or two on battery it would be truly portable and much less intrusive if you were to take it to a friends or relatives house.

By the looks of it it seems the Media Link HD itself needs plugging into a power supply. All the videos I've seen of it on YouTube in operation show two cables coming out of it (the HDMI cable and presumably the power cable?). Plus when you look on the Mobile Fun site, it shows two ports on it...a HDMI port and a Micro USB port:

Note: Since the video I also got NOVA 3 on my S3 and playing it via MHL on my HDTV with a PS3 controller over bluetooth (every bit as freaking sweet as it sounds). Anyone want a guide?
[UPDATE] Demo and guide for playing NOVA 3 wirelessly via a PS3 controller, much better experience (especially on an HDTV and with a home theatre system connected!). Until you've made videos where you control the game by viewing it through the viewfinder in your camera please refrain from being too critical about how badly I suck

Excellent video mate, is the S3 your main phone these days? I'm sure I remember you doing a similar review on the Galaxy Note, that's what I have although I did get an S3 for the missus and it is tempting, but I'm holding out for the Note 2.
By the way, can you point me in the direction of a relatively cheap bluetooth keyboard and mouse that will work with my Note, but a set that doesn't come with a usb dongle since I want to use the micro usb port on the phone to connect it via MHL to my TV. If that makes sense.

Awesome. $10 sure beats $40 for the official adapter. Just need some compatibility confirmation reviews before pulling the trigger.
Is there anyone out there with a USB DAC who can verify the S3 can actually output digital audio via USB?
This is a long time wish for audiophiles, who will all be getting an S3 if this functionality works.

[Q] Samsung Allshare cast dongle - availability

Hi guys,
Does anyone know when the allshare cast dongle will be available to order ? The only info I could find is probably somewhere around late June according to this seller http://www.clove.co.uk/samsung-allshare-cast-dongle-samsung-galaxy-s3
I really can't wait to surf/play on my big tv screen I know that I can buy the mhl adapter but I'll probably wait for the dongle to be released.
Thanks in advance !
Samsung South Africa
I queried with Samsung South Africa an a local retailer which gave me an ETA of middle JULY.
Real pity since they had these demoed at the UK launch event middle May...
But Polaris Office 4 was also demoed on not yet available ANYWARE. Well the price we pay for being first.
At least the stock S3 is an amazing device. Perhaps they are stagerring the hardware to give them more time to get firmware "extra nice"..
Yep my local retailers think it'll come out mid July as well.. Can't wait. And agreed, this phone in stock configuration is awesome!

Teh difference is that that is a stick that'll allow the tv to gain wifi capability. It's pretty much a wifi card. So if you link up the tv to your home network you can stream from the phone to tv via the allshare app..

The allshare cast dongle uses wifi direct to stream your phones screen to an hdtv, letting you mirror your phone on the tv. The item you linked to plugs into a tv and lets it connect to your home network and access the internet.
thanks guys but I'm none the wiser. It does allshare and its cheaper than the allshare dongle. I just dont get what its limitations are. Are you SURE it can accept stream?

This is a WiFi adaptor for Samsung Smart TV’s, which allows the TV to access the internet and DLNA files via your wireless access point.
The AllShare Cast WiFi dongle connects to an HDMI port on your TV, any TV not just Samsung TV’s, and allows amongst other things, your SIII display to be mirrored on the TV.
MaNIaC
Just to be clear wifi direct is different from normal network sharing technologies like DLNA. Wifi direct lets you connect two devices without using an existing wireless network. So for example if I didn't have a wireless internet network setup I could still wireless stream to an HDTV using Wifi direct. In principle it works similarly to the way bluetooth does but allows for much higher bandwidth
The wifi direct supports all share. So in theory I can plug this into my 2009 samsung to stream movie and game content to my tv
Edit. Or not because it's not smart. Got it
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I hope someone comes up with a trickery/hack/mod so we can use the dongle to stream from a laptop as well if it's even possible.

Basically this in layman terms.
The GS3 has wifi built in which connects with the allsharecast dongle and the dongle displays the image of the GS3 onto the HDTV.
The dongle you posted just gives wifi to devices that do not have wifi built in. Since the GS3 already has wifi built in, that dongle does absolutely nothing for the GS3. but it does make your TV DNLA compatible since not all of the older TVs have DNLA standard but if your TV does have DNLA, then that dongle you posted is useless for BOTH the GS3 and your TV.
You can connect the GS3 with allshare cast enabled TVs but that just lets you display pictures and videos, it doesn't completely mirror your phone, and the entire UI on your phone, to the TV though.
