2. Download NoBloat Free from the Play Shop (Market) and install.
3. Trim out unnecessary system services via this website: http://androidadvices.com/optimize-lg-nitro-hd-phone-performance-removing-bloatware/
After that was said and done, the battery life on my P930 was noticeably better.

did u try calibrating the battery with any of the free software on the market !
i used to get 3 hours "seriously" out of this phone ... after deploating and calibration it can last 12 hours with heavy use !

I've started using an external battery charger (one of the official lg ones from Ebay) and an extra battery, and just swap them out when my phone dies, and I've noticed on the few occasions where I charge my phone by plugging it in, even though it says 100% (and I've done all the battery calibrations and everything) it doesn't last as long as when I pop in a fully externally charged battery.

My device battery life also got better in comparison to the first days i used it. But for some reason i experience some strange usage right now.
For example:
In the morning from 7 - 10am 100%... later 10% in 15 minutes, with phone in standby-mode.
I checked after i'd make a phonecall, hardware consumption for radio was on 99,9%. After reboot it was ok again, but later hardware consumption for the screen was at high level. Strange... everyday a new experience.

Turning LTE off helped my Spectrum last 24+ hours. I turn 4G on whenever I really need it, though. And with 4G on all day, I can get 12-16 hours under moderate use.

+1, better battery life than stock ROM

I have honestly never seen a phone go through battery quite like this one. I love the phone to death. It feels solid in the hand, and the screen quality is amazing. But I can't deal with the battery going like this. I input a new APN so it would just use HSPA+ .. but does that actually stop the LTE radio from searching? (I am in a non-LTE area)

My experience with this phone is that ips screen battery usege is higher than lcd and amoled
amoled phones consume less battery because amoled hasnot edge to edge backlight and pixels have light themselves.

Yes our screens are a big consumer of power but there are plenty of disadvantages to AMOLED: heat, image burn (like a plasma tv), image quality and longevity of the screen. The more pixles that are lit the more power it uses, to the point that it uses more power than IPS with large areas of the screen are lit. This along with image retention is why CM7/9/10 has black as a background for everything and stock doesn't. Think of it as LED/LCD TV's vs Plasma. Similar power curves between them.
BTW the little program above dropped my idle power usage to only 5% over 8 hours. I will be trying it with cm10 to see if I get similar results.

Excessive Battery Drain

My Desire Z has been a battery killer recently. I have tried different radios and roms and it still sucks excessive power. Even on Airplane mode battery monitor widget was giving ~50mah per hour drain with the screen off.
I have both a stock battery and a Mugen 1800ma battery and this seems excessive. I checked and there were no applications keeping the phone awake either. At work with minimal usage my phone easily drains over 30% of the Mugen battery. Signal isn't a problem either because I work 280 metres away from a Bell cell tower and have full signal at work all the time. I'm starting to think that something is wrong with my phone.

I had a similar problem with a stock battery of mine and ended up recalling it with my phone provider and they shipped me a new one. They (T-Mobile) said "not all batteries were created equal" and that sometimes even without water-damage, certain batteries lose their shelf-life much faster than others.
Since you're telling us that both your stock and your after-market are draining at a near equal pace regardless, this might be an indicator that it isn't your battery.
I had to return my original G2 to T-Mobile because of hardware malfunctioning in several areas, namely the audio mechanisms. If you're using a relatively new phone, and/or a refurbished phone, I wouldn't be surprised if you are experiencing similar problems.

use SuperWipeG2(+) and Guhl's EFS GPS fix available here before flashing G-lite
Have you tried calibrating? Charging to full, wiping batt stats, discharging/charging back to full uninterrupted? The link below is a great calibration tool.... very convenient. I wipe stats after every ROM flash and keep an eye on CPU/RAM usage with Watchdog lite. Battery life is always good.

how long does the battery last for aprox in standby and with regular use. if it dies faster then 3days on standby or less then a day with regular use there may be an issue im just wanting to know the time span of your battery....
also i had hardware issues with the g2 too. my radio sucked balls, i couldnt even keep signal in a call longer then 3 seconds and my wifi would just cut out for periods of hours at a time... im wondering if the manufacturing is becoming sloppy and they might be lacking quality control. i admit there is a lot to the phone but simple things like battery quality and signal quality should be checked regularly.
with the g2 i frequently hear things like this, battery, screen failures or behind the screen cracks, unresponsive touch screen and black spots, bad radio signals, color leakage and most commonly issues with the keyboard.

Well if battery monitor widget is correct my phone would last 26 hours in airplane mode (36 with my mugen battery) with the screen off (I tested this with almost every user app uninstalled)
Edit:
Considering there was a guy who left his old Hero with CM7 in airplane mode and that it lasted for 30 days before the battery died... I find this quite discouraging

Worried about battery life

I am a heavy texter with medium to low wifi usage. Sometimes I play games on my cell (Everlands) & last night I did some chatting.Usually battery last about a day but sometimes it goes down like after 16hrs which is quite low for what I have heard about this phone. Any way to identify the problem is ?
Maybe that is because I did not really charged uninterrupted on the first day due to constant loadshedding here in my city (about 1.5 hr gap in charging). I've heard Better battery stats is a good way of locating draining problems but I couldn't really understand it well enough to use it to my advantage.
Also I have set my brightness to lowest most of the time so thats quite surprising. Also net usage is mostly web browsing, no google maps or auto sync feature enabled as far as I know. Any tips about locating the problem ? Could hard reset possibly solve this issue ? Anyway my phone is less than 1 month old (3 weeks old) so should I consider taking it to service centre & getting battery replaced. Please help.

The battery is calibrating within 3 weeks if the phone is new (5-10 charge cycles) so the problem might not be a real one.
Are you on stock rom, stock kernel?
IF not, do you have kernel with overclock capabilities (titanium kernel, kiss kernel)?

The calibration thing sounds interesting. Everything is on stock. The phone is unrooted though I once thought of rooting it & rebooted the phone in recovery. How much does the battery last for u ? Right now battery has gone from 100 to 86% in 12hrs with somewhat lighter usage. Is this normal ?

I'm having 48% after 10 hours with screen on at 61% but it is like this because i plugged in to my computer last night to put something on the sdcard.
In general your informations are alright, that is a fairly good battery life. Remember that you have a smartphone with gpu and cpu, and it is normal to eat battery even if when you don't play with it because it makes stuff in the background.
The great battery life i got at 3 days with 50% screen on, wifi, calls, sms at 10-15% but not on stock, using CM9/Paranoid Android and tweaked kernel for better battery life .
In conclusion, don't worry about it. Your battery is fine!
If you really want better battery life try flashing a custom kernel like KISS or Titanium and undervolt your CPU.
I managed to undervolt mine alot (-300mV while idle) and battery life increased to almost 3-4days, which is really impressive compared to 1.5days it lasted before.

And i text a lot.Gmail,Whatsapp etc.
Screen is mostly at 70-80%.
As far as i am considered thats good,a lot of phones these days cant even get to 24h.
It works perfectly stable with the following settings:
Clock VDD (mV)
'24576 700'
'61440 700'
'122880 700'
'184320 700'
'192000 700'
'245760 700'
'368640 700'
'768000 850'
'806400 850'
'1024000 950'
Took me about 2 days to find them.
Sadly you cant go any lower then 700mV, seems to be a kernel restriction.

"Battery calibration" is snake oil. Period.
Also, I have 2 stock One V's in the family, rooted but no custom ROMs. Both devices on occasion (once a day at least) appear to be in sleep mode but taking the phone into a completely dark room reveals the backlight is still on (albeit very dim).
This is the only thing I see that's keeping my stock ROM from outstanding battery life. Even as is it get good battery life, but I also double check periodically to make sure the screen really is off.

It's from Dianne Hackborn, android developer for Google.
from here
Root your phone, put kernel titanium kiss, make it with 1.2GHz and smartassV2 cpu governor and than flash with full wipe myOneV 8.0 rom, put display brightness to automatic you will have stunning results.
P.S. make back ups to your data but do not restore it all from recovery

[Q] Signs of a Bad Battery?

So, no matter what I do my battery life stays the same regardless of what rom or kernel I'm running. So now I'm wondering if it's my battery, but I'm thinking even if my battery was bad the rom or kernel should have some sort of effect on battery life. Does anyone know if this may be the cause of a bad battery or what else could be the issue, I know for sure it's not the rom or kernel so it has to either be a problem with my phone or battery but I'm not sure which one it is.
Try running a looped video run down test. And report what you get for screen on time.

Yeah I tested from 100%, I'm running Frosty JB v3.0, It's insanely smooth but like the other roms it wasn't able to increase my battery life. So far the only thing that will increase battery life is if I underclock the cpu. Other than that nothing else I've tried works.

I honestly don't think your battery life is that terrible. Streaming Netflix destroys your battery regardless of wifi or mobile data, and so does playing a game. Three hours of screen on time isn't that bad, especially considering you watched netflix for two hours and in your screenshot you have no bars of signal, which will also destroy your battery in a hurry.

There are no bars because I turned off data and was using wifi, I agree that netflix drains more than an average video played off the phone but I still think this is horrible. I mean 5 hours total is not something to brag about when your screen on time was only 3 hours, not to mention I underclocked to 1.2ghz to save power and was on the lowest brightness setting.

I am extremely frustrated. My phone has always been bad with battery life. Its been over a year or so that I have not seen my phone last longer than 5-6 hours. I am constantly looking for any chance I get to charge my phone. My life revolves around checking battery %age and plugs to charge. Smart phones were suppose to be helping us, but its like they are using me to feed the juice every chance they get.
My T989 is a "SMART" phone with
- lowest on screen brightness (and a screen dimmer overlay)
- no NFC
- no haptic feedback or keytone sounds
- No animations or graphic heavy launchers
- dont play games any more
- turn off 4G/data anytime I get a chance
- No GPS
- Manual Sync emails, facebook and whatsapp
HELL, I want to go back to the age of Nokia's where the batteries would last you through weekend and still some juice left even after it goes through laundry.
But that is not what I am here to complaint about.
I would like to know what ROM+Kernel you have and how much battery life you get ? (w/ screen time)
Who else is going through these ?
Note: Currently on JB stock and a new OEM replacement battery
How often are you using your phone? It uses a lot more battery when the screen is on. You can get over 24 hours of battery life by not touching your phone at all/no apps running.
I think most people average around 3 hours of display time without charging. Check in settings/battery/display.
I'm running AOKP and depending on how often I use my phone it can really deplete my battery.

easiest way i have found to extend my battery during the day is to toggle my data..if i am not using it for a bit, just toggle it off, takes 2 sec to toggle it on, and can easily double my battery life..
I use Jedi mind trick with Tiberius kernel. It fly's and I get around 12-14hrs with 1hr and 30mins or so with Facebook 1hour and half of music and texting. So get it!

Do this stuff and read it carefully. And yes 3 to 4 hours is about average screen time. Makes no difference discussing total battery time. You can kill it 3 hours from a full charge with continuous use...or it can last 24 hours....all depends how often your using it and what you are doing with it.
If you go thru this other thread and follow all of the advice ....you should be fine.

These are my results, after buying the LAZA 3800mAh battery. I just had it for one day and it is light years ahead of the stock battery. I don't use NFC, and my brightness is all the way down. (Still I don't believe the brightness is low enough, seems too bright). I am a student so when I'm in class I can't obviously use my phone, so that is why the screen time is below what you guys expect. Still this battery is legit! I got it for $23 shipped (Amazon Prime). On the stock battery I had to revert back to ICS, but with this Laza battery I have no gripes on leaving it on the latest CM10.2 (4.3.1) and letting it go on Dual Carriage (DC, HSPA+42) mode. As long as I leave school with more than 70 percent battery like on my HTC Sensation, I am fine.

On Jedi or on CM10.2? I don't know if Stock lets you use Dual Carriage or not. (Probably does, doesn't show it).

Areyoucrazy, 5-6 hours of on screen time or total? If that's all you get even with screen off, something is probably keeping your phone awake. Get an app called better battery stats or gsam battery monitor to figure out what is keeping it awake.

It is the total battery hours. My screan time is barely 1 hour.

I've been running CM 10 for awhile, and I've been getting great battery life. Recently It's been sliding, and it's due to my battery just being old. I've got a new one I'll be putting in tonight. Get Gsam Battery monitor and check out what's using the battery.

I do have GSAM battery monitor installed. I had it installed since it was called "bad ass battery monitor". It always is consistent and shows that screen uses most battery (abt 35% of overall usage), even at lowest setting. I also have a screen Filter app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor That overlays on the screen that dims it even further and is believed to save some more battery.
The other major user is the apps which is
- Android &
- Kernel

Do this stuff and read it carefully. And yes 3 to 4 hours is about average screen time. Makes no difference discussing total battery time. You can kill it 3 hours from a full charge with continuous use...or it can last 24 hours....all depends how often your using it and what you are doing with it.
If you go thru this other thread and follow all of the advice ....you should be fine.

I will try the cpu spy again. I remember doing it before and it was almost inconclusive if there were things I could control vs system related drain that I couldnt control.
I am currently on a new OEM battery (2 months old) and several ROMs later,. Some ppl claim they get best battery life, I just want to mirror exact same ROM, kernel... even the apps they have and their refresh settings if I need to.

Dude.....less than an hour screen time tells something is very wrong.
First...I would bet the screen dimmer app Burns more battery than it saves.....that'd be my guess.
Second....flash a fresh rom, or stock. Run it at least a few days as is. With only gsam and cpuspy installed. Nothing else. I know you may really miss some apps....but its the only way to see if its an app, or rom, or hardware.
Then off gps after your install. Its on by default and is a huge battery sucker.
I'll bet things will be greatly improved. Then install apps.....monitor closely for changes in gsam or cpuspy.
Your screen battery usage should be more like 60 percent or higher....even as dim as it goes. That's normal. Apps, maybe 30 percent and then the other stuff. A 35 percent battery drain from the screen says you have problems.
After all your apps are installed.....try everything in that link I posted. Everything. And things should stay good.
Keep us posted.

I do believe that the battery life on this phone is not the greatest, a spare 5$ ebay battery in the wallet keeps me worry free

[Q] New Battery - Better Android System Usage?

I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4 running Lollipop. I've noticed I have been having fairly poor battery life over the last few days with Android System taking up the most usage. I purchased a spare battery for my Note 4 yesterday and I have been using the new battery with my phone. My android system usage is significantly lower with the new battery. Does this mean the older battery is defective? Or is it something else with the phone? Has anyone experience the same circumstances?
And yes, I have a SD card installed and I have factory reset my phone and wipe the cache after I installed Lollipop.

If I were you, I'd use the new battery a few days before jumping to conclusions. The Android System usage may start up again. Knock on wood that it doesn't.

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully it won't start up again. I just feel it's weird because a new battery shouldn't affect what is using the battery but rather how long the battery lasts. Isn't that right?

I think so. I mean, the only thing I could think of that might reduce ASystem with a new battery would be if the new battery didn't have NFC. Then MAYBE ASystem will go down just because the system wouldn't be detecting the NFC chip. But even then, I wouldn't expect a huge drop in %usage.
If the old battery was defective, I also wouldn't expect ASystem to run high. If the CPU were bad though, then it definitely would because the cpu may not enter deep sleep, so the phone is always technically on. (I had the happen with my old phone. Had to get it warranty replaced).
Just keep an eye on it for a few days to see if things continue to stay good.
Btw, what battery? OEM? Third party? Large capacity (like a 6400mAh battery)?

The new battery is just OEM. and thanks for your input.
So...with the new battery about 10 hours of run time and 4.5 hours of screen time (mostly YouTube). I am at 8% battery life? Is this normal?
Also here's my setup
- Bluetooth off.
- Location On - Power Saving Mode
- WiFi on and connected, look for WiFi network is On. Always connected to WiFI is on.
- YouTube @ 15% of Battery and Screen / Android System both taking up 14%.
- Screen Brightness on Auto
Is this normal or should I be getting battery life out of my phone?

I think many people report 4.5-5 hours of constant screen on time, so I think your getting normal battery life.
I usually get about 1-2 hrs screen on time, but my phone is in standby for tge rest of the time. I usually then get a day and a half of battery life (or 2 days).
