[ROM][DISCONTINUED]Chocolate & Coffee - HTC Wildfire S

Introducing.............
CHOCOLATE & COFFEE
So as most of you know, my phone was stolen. Because of that, I've had to discontinue the project. It was great. I loved making it. And I thank you for the support you gave. I've also had to discontinue the kernel. Anyway, anyone can still use it. From my last test, it's stale. Once again, thank you.
(I've been reading your posts, so all day I've been working, so that this chocolate don't taste cheap, and this coffee is more creamy! (yes, I know it's not much, but it's time consuming))
So basically this is a ROM slapped together in dsixda's kitchen, and some things done manually. This is quite simple, but I will see if I can make it awesome in the future.
DOWNLOAD ODEXED VERSION
DOWNLOAD DEODEXED VERSION (API LEVEL 10 USED) (EXPERIMENTAL)

Well, it's not really worth screenshots, lol. Like I said, it's quite simple, so it's got the basic Sense interface. I might consider porting a newer sense, ICS, or something else. But I think that's way to advanced for me, still learning.

Thank you. So, have you tried it???

You should probably rename the file to something other than "update.zip".

You must to compress the .zip much more, 140 MB are too much!

I've deleted the .odex files from /system/app and then rezip with Normal level the .apk...
What succes?
Nearly to 20 MB reduded...
I didn't want to flash it, because I don't like sense.
All that I say only are suggestions, I was doing my own ROM too...
Good Luck!

LOL, I tried to compress it, but with zip, it got larger, and with 7z, it only reduced in size by 1MB!!
I might release 3 versions, odexed, deodexed, and senseless.

Don't compress all the files on the .zip
Only do that for deodexed:
1 - Delete the .odex files that are on system/app
2 - Select all .apk from system/app, the Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V... when the compress window appears select as compression level "Normal".
I've do all of that on winrar...

I've do that on my ROM .zip and on yours
My ROM was reduced from 120 MB into 97MB, and yours from 140 MB into 122MB

I got 7zip. Thanks for the advice.

Si hay un problema de compatibilidad con el ClockWOrkRecovery....
No lo he probado pero deberia solucionarse buscando un archivo que hay dentro de la carpeta META-INF que se llama update-script y cambiarle el nombre por updater -script....
Please to all the users excuse me by using spanish but I think that I'll be more easy to understand to ciripian

Sorry, I should have read it
more carefully, it is actually based on KaguDroids AOSP (a very fast AOSP) that was based CM's r2. Either way it is fast and works great! It has quiet a few things from CM 5.0.7 in it though

Awesome! I'm downloading now, I'll feedback on it later.
@hanser01, if this was based off of CyanogenMod 5.0.7-DS, why don't you just pick up where Darchstar left off with Darchdroid (GSM Edition). He's currently looking for someone in the GSM Hero realm to take it over since he doesn't have access to a GSM Hero.

think they mean Darchstar's ROM. they've taken Darchstar's ROM and are working on it.
Anyway a little feedback for your ROM. I realised it has the same "insufficient storage space" bug as a few of the other Eclair ROMs. So I can't install any new apps from market or from my SD card.
The only way I know how to fix it is using the Terminal Emulator app but since your ROM doesn't come with it, I can't install it because of the bug even if I have the apk in my SD card. So it's sort of a Catch 22 situation, if you know what I mean.
Thing is, am I able to just manually copy the Terminal Emulator apk file into your "EzHero0.1_signed.zip" file in the "/system/app" folder so that the Terminal Emulator app is installed automatically during flashing? Or do I have to re-sign the whole package again?
Look`s great but i need functional BT with my CAR BT KIT. :-(

Download and install the latest android sdk .also Java jdk find and download autosign. Do this all by searching. I would download a custom rom as a template for your update.zip. extract the data folder and the Meta folder and put into a new folder, go into Meta folder keep clicking through the folders inside Meta one till you find update-script and open it in notepad.
Delete everything except the part saying something like copy package DIRATA and the show progress before it. Once that's all done put the Apps you want into the data folder zip up the data and Meta folders, when you open the zip folder you should only see those 2 no others! Resign it using autosign and flash

This bug normally come with the rom which have data/app partition but forgot to set the correct permition, just modify the update-script after the line:
copy_dir PACKAGE:data DATA:
and add this line
set_perm_recursive 1000 1000 0755 0644 DATA:app
or us adb to change the permition
adb remount
adb chowner system.system /data/app

do you use a hex editor to edit the update-script? reason I'm asking is when i open it with Notepad, it appears as a whole continuous chunk of text. If I open it with Wordpad or MS Word, it's nicely formatted, but when I save it, what should I save it as? There are a few options like Text Document, RTF, Unicode and MS-Dos format. Whatever I choose, when I reopen the saved document with Notepad, it's not in a continuous chunk of text anymore and it's nicely formatted. And as I had expected, when trying to flash this, error msg appeared and the flashing stopped.
Maybe I'll just wait for Hanser to fix this in the next version instead or I'll try using ADB at my home PC.

[MOD] Persian/arabic/urdu support for js3/js5/js7 custom Roms

This a CWM update for your js3/js5 custom roms/deodexed roms. it will simply add persian/arabic and urdu support to your phone.
Credits go to
- Darkyy for his RTL language support (base of this update is Darkyy RTL which you may find it here )
- g00ndu who made the great guide for adding locale to the roms (find it here)

Spec of this update:
-Samsung default keyboard with persian/arabic/urdu support
-Swype keyboard with persian/arabic/urdu support
-web surfing with above mentioned languages
known issues:
-you should choose default font only or install fonts which are supporting your language otherwise some alphabets are not shown correctly
-in sending sms when you are typing the firs alphabet of your first word for some unknown reasons will get additional alphabet which you have not typed it
you may test this issue by this word in your language : salam سلام
then it will write سسلام or اسلام this issue was reported on darkyy RTL support also. I wish Darky will see this post and do some mod for it
for those who are looking for the persian language support can take a look at the main forum here
Due to the problem with themed roms the locale and some applications has been removed from the file which means you will not have menu in persian/arabic or ordu but web surfing or typing is supported in above mentioned languages.
now let's get to work
Backup first
-Download the file (Main update) from below link
HTML:
http://www.multiupload.com/NCTAQ7YYRL
or from this link
HTML:
http://rapidshare.com/#!download|161dt|451814235|WOF_HU_taha_e_Farsi_js5-v2.zip|20306
copy the file to your internal sdcard and flash it via CWM/recovery
the first reboot will take a while please be patient
Great work, and I can confirm the issue of the first letter, though it isn't that disturbing.
Great work......

custom roms means like "Doc and stefunel rom" or "darkyy rom' or any other unofficial rom
you may also make a deodexed rom by yourself. if you don't know how then search the forum I'm sure there are many threads regarding this subject
@ OP,
Congratulations!! You have made many people very happy.
It is a lot of hard work, but certainly you have done yourself proud!
Excellent work.
Edit: I'm not sure the bug of additional letters is due to lib issues or framework issues. I would suggest to compare the lib folders for these 2 roms, maybe Darkyy may have not included one more .so file?
If you are using gtglauncher, you can also add the locale you want without decompiling the gtglauncher. All you need is to decompile twlauncher, add the locale and recompile back. Then just copy the resources.arsc to the gtglauncher. Of course, you will need to add additional strings to your values folder xml, like what gtg465x has done before recompiling.
Note that it works on 16bit, will always fc once if you do it with the 16bit-disabled. Check out webstar1 Starlauncher thread where I have posted.
Good luck.

Thank you for the Persian support
I'm currently using Darky's Rom and his patch for Persian support. The issue of the first letter is not the only issed! When writing an SMS, additional blanks and spaces are appended to the text. Wonder if yours does the same...
Great job, well done!
Looks like it is the framework that is controlling the input. Hence it will be extremely difficult to resolve, unless you have the knowledge to understand fully the mechanics of the xml.

It is possible, but it will be extremely difficult to do it. You will need to baksmali framework.jar and see if there are distinct differences between the arabic rom and the 2.2.1 rom.

That's a good start, right now is to find out how this interact with the overall framework of the rom.
Perhaps you can just add this $smali to the 2.2.1 framework.jar and recompile it back. See if it will throw out any errors. If there is, look at what the errors say.
If not, then see if you can replace this modded framework.jar with the stock one.
You better get your original one into a flashable cwm zip, and put it in your internal sd card. In case it doesn't work, you can always flash back without going back to odin.
I wish you luck, brother taha-e.
If you can do it, I'm sure our ME friends will be very happy. And you have my full support on this.

If you do include camera.apk as part of the rom, just make sure you don't compressed the modded apk. For me it always fc, until I modded a decompressed version.
Hope this helps you.

Maybe, maybe not. Because, there are plenty of issues to be ironed out for Gingerbread before it can become stable. That is going to take some time. Besides that, there is an added advantage, which is that whatever you have done now, could be easily be ported over to Gingerbread. In fact I can bet that you may be the first one that release a 2.3 rom that supports hebrew, arabic and urdu!
Don't give up now.
I'm certain you are pretty close to resolving those issues, even though some don't mind. Just do it whenever you have the time, buddy!

First whooo! Will give it a try..
question, so if i dont want to use data on my sd since im using a 1024 hd2, do i not have to bother extracting one of the zips on the sdcard or do i extract one and modify the contents of the .config to data2sd=0 ?

Must extract 1 of 2 7z files. If you want data on NAND, you extract 512mb.7z to SD (no data.img in this) and modify .config to 0
mm is interesting this build.... but how much space have a hd2 eu version with this rom?
mmm another question.... i can to use massive storage usb if i use data, img?

ah, ok thanks, oh and btw..
i made a cwm zip of your rom, i modded it slightly to be more tmo friendly, by adjusting the mms sizes, user agent strings, a few extra optimizations in the init.d, some adjustments to the build.prop as to be compatible with the cyberon voice commander that comes with oem roms (which i added), modified a permission file to remove a mention of a apk that isnt in the rom (a vip apk) and a some extra files in xbin so i wouldnt have to heavily edit the updater-script..
if you approve, could i upload it?

g-sensor work fine !
want to know difference in speed, stability and battery compared to other HD builds!!
also,i have EU HD2 and i have huge wake up lag on all other builds..will try this
well, heres the zip:
http://www.multiupload.com/H3KZLUIV0Q
i just thought id point out the log keeps throwing up this error:
Sensors ( 342): Couldn't open /dev/akm8975_aot (No such file or directory)
ive found that akm8975_aot is for the compass, and its sensors.ace.so calling for it.
EDIT: it seems i figured it out.. that error and my g-sensor troubles were related.. i see now why you changed the product.device and product.board to bravo from ace in the build.prop...
just push/copy this build.prop over the one thats installed in the zip:
View attachment build.prop.txt(remove the .txt)
if you download the zip on your pc just overwrite the file inside, or to you phone just move it to where the old one is (system)
ill try to update the zip later but im half asleep and will do it in the morning..

well, you would need a system partition above 370mb for it to install and the tweaks i put in are for tmo, but you can install it on 512 hd2
Just installed this rom to see how it is, I also converted your DAF rom to a CWM but made no changes. Seems snappier and more responsive then Pyrorob's CWM with the additions (Sorry Pyrorob, no offense).
2 Bugs, nothing major initial testing, 1) When you first boot up the Main screen after setup is blank with only the camera icon, but has no words under it. 2) GPS cant determine if it works or not, no GPS icon on the notification bar. (Both Your version and Pyrorob's)
Going to try it out and see how it handles, looking for a new rom with less bugs then the one I have been running for the past month. Nice start on the release.
I also converted mine to CWM. Yes it is very snappy even during installation/restoring of apps. So far I didn't find any bugs yet. Also, I made some mods and customizations that suits my needs.

* Added CWM flashable zips. (No need to read all I wrote if you want to install through cwm just download the ones with the CWM tag! =D The sound works on all roms now! Give it a shot and try it! The bootanimation runs in the same order with the GIF Files
First the Star Wars Title then Droid and R2D2 Pops up in the end
Download link on the bottom of the post under Attached Files
This is the first thing I share on XDA so forgive me if anything is wrong. The bootanim is so cool, just give it a shot =)
Steps on how to install:
Your device must be rooted
Transfer the bootanimation.zip to your phone
Copy it to system/media with a root explorer (Replace the old one)
It runs very smoothly and if you're a StarWars fan just like me, you'll like it a lot =D
The same animation is now available with PowerOn sound! So if you want the bootanimation with the sound, you have to flash the sounded file under attached files via CWM this time. (The normal (without sound) bootanimation.zip was supposed to be installed via a root explorer!)
There you go!
Thanks,
Berk.
Edit: I just played with the folders. Better now.
There's also another edition of the bootanimation which doesnt include the first two parts, only the gif with the R2D2 plays: http://db.tt/10IqtCii (Credits go to sgs2.5 for uploading and sharing this one =) )
Alternative mediafire download link for the whole animation: http://www.mediafire.com/?1micez0zgnmz2dc
2) Another way to install the bootanimation!
CWM Flashable zips added! :
Here we go,
I made some CWM5 packages for the Samsung Galaxy S2 (flashable with ROM
Manager) with the original R2D2 bootanimations in them. I can't test the one
with sound because my rom doesn't support it.
Flash at own risk. Make a full backup first, do whatever you must do not to loose whatever is on your phone! Don't complain to me if you mess up your phone! You rooted it
The animations are copied to /data/local/ which overrules the one you might have in
/system/data/ . A logo in /system/data/ (for instance a pink aokp pony
remains untouched.
The bootsound (where applicable) is copied to /system/etc/ and overwrites an
old one if it's there. If you wanna loose the sound. simply delete PowerOn.wav from /system/etc/.
The ´no sound´ versions don´t remove or overwrite PowerOn.wav if it´s already present.
Oh,, flash them 'certificate verification' OFF. Inserting a valid certificate scks blls, so I didn't.
R2D2 animation only, CWM (no sound): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36551347/XD...SGS2 CWM5 Bootanimation R2D2 no sound TVW.zip
R2D2 animation only, CWM (R2 sound): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36551347/XD...S2 CWM5 Bootanimation R2D2 with sound TVW.zip
StarWars logo+Droid logo+R2D2 animation, CWM (no sound): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36551347/XD...mation Android StarWars R2D2 no sound TVW.zip
Credits go to sgs2.5 for his great contribution!
Please click the Thanks button if you like it
Sound and the bootanim works for most of the devices now thanks to sgs2.5! Hydrogen-Ics and the AOKP ROMs are supported now as well. CWM Flashable link in the 1st post.
If you're on a rooted stocklike ICS rom (e.g. NEAT Rom) Just rename the system/etc/PowerOn.wav to PowerOn.ogg after flashing "Flash this one with CWM Bootanimation Complete with sound TVW.zip"! Feel free to ask away if you encounter any problems!
VOLUME FIX for BOOTANIMATION(sound) ;-)
According to me its just fine but if you want to crank up the volume a little during boot do the following;
edit the file "build.prop" in /system/ (set system to r/w before editing)
add or alter the following setting/line ;
persist.sys.boot_volume=100
save the file and reboot your phone

I think our ROM doesnt have a default boot animation sound. So unless you add one to system files there wont be a sound.

Thanks for sharing. Nice job.
I already had this bootlogo without the "Star Wars" and "Android" logo's, which I like better. So I switched back to the plain R2.
If anyone wants it, shout out, i'll try to include a link (forum rules don't allow me to include links yet ;-(

berq219's animation is better looking than the original after all. Just had to get used to it.
I made it cwm flashable and added sound to it.

[GUIDE][MOD][ICS+] Transparent Incoming Call [NooB Fiendly][NOW CWM ZIP]

Introduction:
We all know that Android from ICS+ provides big beautiful contact images that are visible, obviously when someone calls us...
While all this is good... I noticed multiple ROM's extending the black screen below the animation over the image to display the subtle call accept/reject animation. And now that's not a good thing... bear with me, "personal opinion"... So here is a guide to get rid of this...
Preview:
Still don't understand what I mean? Have you seen the below happening...?

Yes that's exactly what I mean... The right image shows what happens... The left is the solved image...
So here goes...
I AM TOO LAZY:
I've got you covered... Flash this ZIP.
Its a fully transparent Dialer mod. It was tested on CM10 and should work on any ROM in theory.
PS: Don't forget to mount /system in recovery... Just in case.!

A little off topic, but do you have any idea about how to change the blue background where it says "Incoming Call"? I ran across this because I thought incall_call_banner_background was it, but it sure isnt Any suggestions?
