Significant Jump in Quadrant Score w/ICS - Gen9, Gen10 General

Loaded ICS on G9 80 today and saw a significant jump in Quadrant score. Scored just below Galaxy Tab. Score = 2071. Much higher than Honeycomb.

I'm not surprised- kernel 3.x is much more efficient (even on a low-end phones like Samsuck i5700, possibly the first Android device running 3.x kernel)

Quadrant Score

Why is the Quadrant score on the Defy so low when running default ROMs? I know under CM7 etc. it can fly but under the UK 2.2 ROM clocked at 1GHz my handset only just crack 1400 where as a Huawei Ideos X5 clocked at 800MHz blows it off. I have noticed the spinning planet test though the X5 cracks on at over 40FPS but my deft is struggling to get past 10 FPS.
Is this solely down to Motorola's implementation of Android or is it a hardware limitation?

[Q] Linpack scores

If you check Engadgets review of the Galaxy Nexus, you will see it getting outgunned by the RAZR in Linpack.
Single thread: 42.85 vs 50.0 mflops
Multi thread: 69.37 vs 95.66 mflops
As I understand it they both contain SOCs from the same family with identical clocks. How do you explain the difference? Is there something in the kernel causing the CPU to underperform? Maybe its not running at the highest clock rating when running the benchmark?
1st. Who cares.
2nd. The OS is different and Linpack may not have been updated yet for ICS. This phone seems plenty fast.

I find these scores a waste of time. What really matters is how it responds to you in your daily use. That varies a lot from user to user and no scoring method will account for that...
Yes the phone is buttery smooth, I have no complaints in that department. However, this is a technical forum and it would be nice to figure out what exactly is going on here.
Guessing...
The software they used is not "aware" of the changes in ICS..;.

Good benchmarks

Hey guys I hear a lot of negative stuff about how smooth the GN isn't and how the hardware is not that good but I must say that after 6 months of SGS2 use with many awesome roms like Checkrom etc and overclocking to 1600Mhz running a lot of benchmark tests I have to say that my experience with the GN has been awesome. Its smooth, fast and pretty.
But I saved all my Antutu, Nenamark and Quadrant scores and i have done a series of scores with the GN trying different roms and kernels and I say that the results, even only clocked to 1350Mhz were on average above my old SGS2. We should consider how much more effort is required to use the resolution of the screen to produce 6800 scores on Antutu and 3000+ scores on Quadrant.
This phone is really the next logical step and I actually get it why Google went down this path.

Nice to see a positive post for once.
Sweet as mate
I started a benchmark scores thread in general.
If you dont mind, can you post your ROM + Kernel and any OC/UV settings u applied.
Also, have u used CF-Bench and what was your score?
Cheers. Its big ie oc to 1350Mhz with Franco kernal.

Quadrant score with 1.29

I've recently upgraded to the ARHD 5.0.0 Rom and my Quadrant score has dropped from an average of 4800 down to an average of 3800.
I realise quadrant is not the most reliable benchmark for realworld performance but that seems like a pretty big drop.
Anyone else know what could have happened?
Thanks.
What has happened is that it's meaningless Quadrant score has dropped. I'd just ignore it altogether.

People are reporting lower AnTuTu scores after 1.29 so if the ROM you're using is 1.29 based what you're observing could be a result of the update. Since Nvidia's code and drivers are proprietary the devs use it pretty much as-is.

As Nvidia plays around with low-level code and drivers to address battery life and fix the graphics issues they'll be tweaking the behaviour of the CPU. There were some pretty odd changes to the CPU code in the Prime while Nvidia was tackling its launch issues.
You have to do quadrant in stock rom.
On 1.26 and 1.28 stock rom it's easily around 4,600 to 4,800. Should be around the same for stock 1.29. I'll see it when I get the Asia ota.
I've tried most roms around and some of their versions are low and some after their update becomes on par with stock in terms of quadrant. It's due to the fact that they are doing heavy tweaking on the rom thus affecting performance a bit (whether for better or worse) . Good thing is they can easily rectify the problem on their next releases.
Although benchmark is not a clear indication of real world performance but it's always nice to get high scores nonetheless. Lol.

[Q] Low Quadrant Score

My Quadrant Score on my Nexus 7 (LTE) is compared to my HTC One very low. I'm getting 7360 points.
With my HTC One the Score is about 12900 with same CPU/GPU clock and Voltages.
CPU clock speed: 2,1 GHzGPU clock speed: 487 MHz
Has anyone an explanation why the score is so bad? (and yes I know, benchmarks do not say anything )
And is there any Kernel that gives better performance and faster InGame loading?
Currently I'm using the latest faux123 kernel in combination with PACman ROM which runs quite stable
Quadrant scores always sucks on stock Google roms, antutu is Better but not perfect.. ..
Other company's optimize their software to this stupid benchmarks , not google ..
But from what I saw AOKP gives a nice score with antutu - around 23500, bit quadrant is an old and not very good benchmark .
Okay my antutu score is 24217, I've done everything, what was possible with faux kernel and PACman ROM, a fully overclocked Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 with TouchWiz X-Note ROM is getting around 22000 and with an HTC One everything maxed out in the Kernel-settings i'll get incredible 29233 Points with ViperOne Sense ROM.
The Nexus 7 is a really great tablet and I know I could get more out of it, but I shouldn't measure the device with stupid benchmarks
i agree quadrants a bit crappy with stock get between 4-5k
while a stock aosp rom get 7-8k with a few tweaks
