[Q] Megaman Legends 2? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How does it play on the Xperia Play? I am getting so tempted to by this device along with the Mugen 3600mah battery and 64 GB micro sd. Anybody else have this set up with extended battery and sd? How it is for daily use also hows the battery life? Hows netflix on it?

Battery life on the Xperia Play is not good. You can get a day of use with moderate usage. It drains a lot when using wifi and playing games.
When you play HD games like GTA 3, Shadowgun then your battery is gonna drain like hell !
I was expecting better.

Lol? I optimized my device so much that the stock battery lasts like three days. The battery life on this thing is amazing, just use it wisely and optimize stuff.

What do you mean by ' optimize ' and how long do you charge your phone for ?
And do you play games on it and use wifi heavily ?

Yea, what have you done that your phone lasts for THREE DAYS?
Sent from my beautiful Xperia PLAY using xda premium

I have wifi constantly on but use the the general mode on both juice defender and easy battery saver and don't even get a days usage really (although I did just reinstall easy battery saver today). I haven't even played on any games. That's quite bad I think so what could I do to improve this? Not rooted
Sent from my R800i using XDA

Nothing too serious, i'm quite a noob at this stuff (first android device). I just rooted, cleaned the bloatware, frozen other stuff like the stock launcher, installed a very light launcher, disabled the boot animation (boots so much faster), did the adb setinstalllocation 2 trick, and a couple of other things. I mean, i always have low brightness and i only have wifi on when i need it, but i do play games. Of course the three days mark is only achieved when i don't play, but it definitely got even more awesome than out of the box (even there, it rocked, at least for me).

Anyone know if Ice Cream Sandwich update will improve battery life ?

reply to youngronn
I actually run the exact same stuff you wish to purchase, and i can kill the phone in 1 day if i play castlevania, symphony of night for about 11 hours straight, other than that for an average day of minimal use, maybe a half hour web browsing or so its drains about 6-7% in the approx 10 hours off the charger.
this is overclocked to 1.5ghz with a slight undervolt. the 64gb microsd works fine, i have aroundabout 10gb left free on it, as does the majority of psx emulation using fpse, n64 is a bit more spotty, everything older runs 100% perfect.
i cant comment on netflix because it isnt available where i live.

Confused...The title of thread is mega man legends 2.....so where is this game available for Xperia play? Is it on an emulator or gameloft?
Ios suckkss.

I just finished playing Asphalt 6 HD for 15 mins and I lost 16% !
So if was to play for an hour my phone would shut down right?
How about that right? How can this happen?
Why me?

Thanks are you running on the 3600mah battery?
And its a psx game ran off the emulator to the guy asking.
Also is there a compatibility list on this forum for PSX and N64 games?
I've searched and haven't seen one.

Most users who are saying that are saying that their battery lasts for 2 days or more are those who leave their xperia play on standby most of the time. Only use it a little bit here and there and a bit of gaming. Or are using a 3600mah battery.
In no way can you get 2 days of gaming full whack usage from the stock battery.

Played 9mm HD on stock GB 2.3.4 no overclock, oem stock battery
with 100% brightness,Wifi On,Multiplayer online,no data (airplane mode)
after 3- 4 hours of non stop playing, then it's shut off.

Your rooted that's why. I'm not.
You have deleted all that bloatware and stopped excess processes from running.

seriously, the battery are good to me,compare with my previous galaxy s2,xplay will give you aproximately around 30 min -1 hour more life.
i saw your post about battery life in another thread, but i forgot which is was.
seriously, maybe there is something wrong with your device/battery.
xplay does really have good battery life,at least for me.

[Q] hows your xperia play battery life?

hey guys i was looking around the forum and i didng see any threads comparing battery life.. so i was wondering how is everyones battery life? rooted and unrooted and any tips you may have?
i have a rooted play and im using set cpu but im only getting around 12 hours off battery life ..
thanks !

Not to being a expert here(cause am not)
but i learned the way you set the CPU profile does make alot of different, you may want to share your profile on your setCPU here... i believe others are willing to help..
thanks for the response !! these are the settings im currently using i got them from another post but i think i musttt be doing something wrong battery drops sometimes 5 percent while screen is off during an hour...
screen off 368 max 122 min
charging 1024 max 122 min
bttery <10% 368 max 122 min
battery <36% 768 max 122 min
thanks for the help!!!

It sucked before rooting, in excess of 3 mins for boot, sluggish UI at times. After root and freezing a bunch of useless apps everything is much snappier and boot is exactly 1:06.
the battery life on the XP is awsome imo, on my desire HD the batt dies after about 6-10 hours, but my play lasts for 12-20 hours even with heavy useage
good to hear ! maybe there's hope for me yet =) Axi, I did notice after rooting everything is much snappier ! And boot is super quick compared to before..
Andro, do you have an tips on battery life? Any apps you're using or specific ones you froze? I froze a couple sync apps and such but I'm' still not noticing great battery life =( today for example, I unplugged at 9am with a full charge, played about an hour of gaming in total mixed with maybe 10 texts..and 10 mins of browsing and I was at 18% at 5:30 ive made sure everything is set to manual in terms of fetching new data.. not sure what i'm missing lol
Thanks for all your help guys!!
The best tip i can give is install juice defender.
I've tested this app on several phones, most succesful.
Used it on my HTC Desire, and went from 12 to 24 hours.
On my play i went from 8 to 24 unrooted - unmodded
(Looking forward to try now, after removing ALL bloatware and apps i won't use)
thanks biteme! I'll do that and see it if help i hope so! i left my phone off the charger the other night just to see how much the battery drained on it's own, untouched...after 3 hours I went from 49% to 19% =S and that was the phone just lying next to my bed while I slept lol
I'm going to try juice defender I hope it helps =D I've seen a slight bit improvement but that's when I turn off 3g..and I've read most people are getting good batt life WITH 3g on hmm..
biteme, if you wouldn't mind posting back when you've rooted with juice defender and let us know ? that'd be awesome! thanks a bunch!!
my x play
light usage 28-xxh
normal usage 8-28h
heavy usage 5-8h
I've never seemed to have any issues with the battery life.
Rooted, some bloat gone but not too aggressive.
Loads of widgets on stock UI, most set to auto update.
Went to sleep last night at 86%, woke up 8hrs later at 75%.
Ive used G1 > X10 >optimus one >Glaxsy S> Desire > Xperia play
Comparing all This is the best phone with android and super cool battery life lasts up-to 20 sometimes heavy usage with wifi all day I can manage from morn to evening
Sweet!! that's good to hear ! 20+ with heavy usage is amazing!! there's hope for me yet, LOL
just wondering what build number are you guys on? i wonder if that makes a diff?..I'm on version .181 and i heard there's been an update to .184 .. but perhaps it hasn't been released in canada yet, i'll be checking constantly to see when it's available hopefully that increases batt life too!
I removed everything from Explay (including unmounting the SD card),
lo and behold still 100% after more than seven hours. Also don't
forget the flight mode on. Perhaps it is a "personal lab condition".
15 months later...
Simply awesome.
Stock 2.3.4. Rooted and debloated.
My battery life is very bad ! I can only get 2 and a half hours on constant usage
I am on build number 4.0.2.A.0.42
Android 2.3.4
Is there a way I can fix/improve it ? Im using the stock battery btw.
Has it got anything to do with how much space I have on my phone or memory/ram usage ?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
About a week, heavy gaming, brightness full, YouTube HD Playback ~5 hours, Internet Browsing, Bluetooth always on, Streaming music non stop.
Awesome battery right?!
What's my secret??
Charge it every might XP
(Trolled)
The battery isn't too great. Medium usage maybe 6 - 10 hrs. I recharge every night, and usually have to recharge a bit during the day.
Battery life is shlt.
But hey ho, that's smartphones for you.
I'd rather lose a leg than go to work without my charger.
Same here my battery life sucks as well. If I was to use it for an hour or 2 continuously it would die.

[Q] Battery life

What do you guys think about the battery life on this device?
Speaking by my own experience it's pretty okey - not on the upper front of the existing devices, but neither on the lower front. It's pretty mediocre, right?
But that doesn't make me satisfied, I believe it's to short.

By playing a wifi conected game, mine is up to 5-6h I think. Otherwise, It's like yours, 12h.
Hum... With regular usage (about 30min games a day + 2h music + normal stuff like calls and SMS, including about 1,5h of Wi-fi on) mine lasts about 36h, if playing games all the time, around 10-12h. But well, it's underclocked for "screen off", so even when the music is playing, the CPU is only running at 368MHz.
I'm quite happy with this stats so I have nothing to complain.

What kernel are you using ? and are you using the stock Rom ?
No, I'm not using the stock ROM. I'm using TuxBrothers' EUR XXLA2 ROM OC which comes with this kernel. Of course the fact that I set low brightness also matters a lot since the display is what consumes most energy anyway. Right now it has been on for 29 hours and has 28% battery left.
for me i think the battery life is fair enough, my phone is up for 19 hours w/ 40% left, internet, games, usual stuff, underclock on screen off, overclock @ 1800 sometimes , and w/ low brightness, im using cowithgun's OC rom
I find it amazing compared to my SGS2.
My wife's W, with low usage, no data on but WiFi always on, running standard Juice Defender will get 4+ days if no app has gone runaway or otherwise.
Very stock on latest XEU standard firmware.
Well I might agree with you that it's more than okey. In fact, it's really good compared to the other phones. - Changed my opinion about this subject, hehe.
Does anyone know if this new myth about battery draining too fast on KEZRA V4 is true? I feel it draining a little fast too, but I'm not sure.

I Will Go To Holiday

hey guys,
i will go to holiday. I need loooong battery life. because I will watch movie a lot. But I need a little performance too. Because I want to play GTA 3, FIFA12 (like that) And I want play this games without any lag. Here is my question. You guys can suggest me a setup ( Rom, CPU, tweaks. ) Which options should I use ? (I Don't want ICS.) Thanks for your suggestions !
Nice forums.
I use Xperia NXT 1.1 and I went on a trip days ago, 6 hours (3 hours to get there and another 3 to get home) in the car and I was able to watch two movies and to play Nova 3, Star Battalion, Dino crisis 2 and some more. Also used wi-fi for half an hour and sent some sms and got home with 20% battery. Performance is good, battery is nice if you control brightness and have the less apps running as possible. I also use overclock at 1400, you can use less to get better battery I think.

Buy a 3600 mAh battery, it's the best thing you can do
You can also have a backup battery.

That's good idea. I have 3600 Mugen and 1500 stock battery. But What Can I do about phone setup ? Should I select Gin2ICS, XperiaNXT or TrueAnchestor. Or Stock ? I tried all of them. But for me, all of them have a lot of battery drain. Or I selected a wrong setup. I don't know. What you guys suggest me about setup problem ? (But I tried with 1500mah battery )
I haven't tried many roms, (actually I've only tried Darkforest ICS & stock) but I think stock with bloatware removed would be ok... You can akso try undervolting, if your device can handle it...
Some little things to try... Assuming you have DoomKernel, you can try the "Scary" CPU governor while watching hardware accelerated movies. It seems to be able to keep the CPU frequency very low while videos play. But don't use that governor at other times otherwise you'll notice lag in other things.
Also, RootDim is an essential app (at least for me as I have eyestrain). It allows you to power down the LCD (brightness) much lower than normal. So that will save battery if the surrounding light lets you get away with it. There's another app called ScreenFilter but the way that works doesn't save battery for us, it would only save battery on Amoled screens.
I guess in theory doing any browsing with Opera Mini will save battery as all the rendering is done on the server, plus the UI is hardware accelerated as well.
I'm trying Gin2ICS 1.6.9 but can't judge battery as I've just flashed it. It has a lovely interface.

Wooow! Thank you so much! You're really great about battery life. Can you suggest me more thing ? (Tweaks, Should I use Supercharger, If I should, Which Option, Which Rom) Please !!
^ I don't know personally, this is only my second custom GB rom! Maybe someone else will have an idea. I know this Lifehacker article (probably common knowledge on XDA) and use Flight Mode a lot on holiday for a longer battery, and turn all data sync off. Maybe Doomkernel v13 3013 was better for battery, not sure, but v14 performs a little faster.
Having your two batteries with you is definitely the way to go. How long is it possible to go without plugging your charger in?
oh thanks. ^^ any suggestion guyss ??

Battery use playing heavy games

Hi you lucky S3 owners. Could someone please tell me what the average use per hour is playing a game like:
Modern Combat 3
NOVA 3
Shadowgun
Please some info.
Thanks for taking your time.
Seems like no one plays games??
Brilliant
Since being a heavy S2 user i was never to impressed with its battery life (May have been caused by running a custom rom?) but i have a noticed a hugely significant improvement since using my S3 and it seems to handle games like a charm, Runs them extremely smooth and doesn't seem to drain the battery at all, I play NOVA:3 for hours on end and it only seems to take about 15% battery for an hour and half of playing, which I think is pretty good
Battery is brilliant on heavy games and multi tasking.after 3-5 cycles on charge, the battery and quad core really makes the phone fly with minimum drain.
@klinkso
Remember to calibrate the battery, after flashing.this can improve battery drastically on heavy drain

Gaming experience of Moto G

Hi guys, i want to ask some questions about this phone, mostly about its gaming experience. I know that this phone has great all-day battery life, and i also know that Moto G is a great gaming smartphone, if not the best, thanks to its Snapdragon 400 and Adreno 305 GPU. And i believe this phone is capable to handle most of graphically demanding games around Google Play Store. But my question is, what's about the battery life of this phone when playing games? I mean, how long can it survive when playing intense games without resting the screen, of course, from the full charge 100%? I'm actually quite interested to get this phone in the near future because it's affordable but amazingly good.

Well, you wont have to worry about the battery life I have played demanding games like mc4 and real racing 3, and the battery is just not going down fast at all. Like i could play mc4 for several hours, and still 30% left. Ofcourse not with the highest screen brightness. But this phone has just an incredible battery life overall. Like i could go with 30% battery in the morning, and in the evening there is still 10% left. So dont worry about the battery, in my opinion it does a great job.

It really depends on the game though. For example Badlands (a 2d game) is absolutely murdering my battery, while games from the Anomaly series that are 3d last longer. But all in all, you can expect to get a solid 3-5 hours of gaming without issue, plus the idle drain is minimal, under normal circumstances, so you can make it back to a charger an hour or two after you get your first low battery warnings.
