SERIOUSLY! Read this before posting!

ATTENTION!
DO NOT REQUEST ROMS OR ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT FLASHING ROMS IN THIS FORUM.
For questions about flashing roms, please visit the P3300, MDA Compact III upgrading etc. forum.
Topics started with questions regarding flashing, rom requesting, etc. will be deleted on sight.
ATTENTION!
1. If a new rom is released please dont post new threads about the issues\bugs - this is happening more in this forum than any other across the board. KEEP QUESTIONS & PROBLEMS IN THE SAME THREAD OF THE ROM.
For some reason this is only happening with the b&b roms - if practise does not change soon i will merge all the threads.
2. Please don't keep asking the same questions that have been answered earlier in a thread read the whole thread if you have too - this is not only irritating for everyone but you look like a wally!
3. Do not cross post - moderators will delete duplicate posts
4. If you start a new thread make the title clear what the threads about e.g. dont post 'newbie needs help'
5. If you post in a different language also include an english translation - google language tools is good for this.
6. Please don't answer these question threads in development. We want to discourage new users to post questions in development and giving them what they want will not help. Instead, report the thread, so a moderator can move it to General.
Thats all for now - enjoy the forum
I'd like to put this thread to your attention again. Read the rules above and try to abide them.

Please help on the guidelines posted above, all threads not following them will be closed or deleted

THREAD STRUCTURE - IMPORTANT!!!!

To make things clear to all our members anyone opening a thread in windows 8 needs to recognise the following.
If it’s a question it goes in General – any questions will be moved and the op warned. – please think before you post?
work about SURFACE goes in SURFACE!!!
Please indicate if it’s a tutorial [GUIDE], a mod {MOD] or a Rom [ROM] in your title.
Also include the date of any amendments [Date]
So it will look like this:
[MOD][DATE] change XYZ
If this isn’t included the thread will be closed while you amend…
EVERY THREAD SHOULD HAVE [MOD]/[GUIDE] OR [ROM IN THE TITLE. IF IT DOESN'T CHANCES ARE IT DOESN'T GO HERE!!!
Could all existing OP’s amend their titles asap?
THIS SHOULD HELP KEEP THINGS TIDY FOR EVERYONE
regards
Chris

** IMPORTANT!! We need your help in moving threads! **

There has been some confusion with regards to the threads in this forum not accepting replies. We're in the process of a rather complex move to separate forums for each carrier. If you are on OP to any of these threads, please edit the titles to reflect which carrier they apply to so that we can get them moved to the appropriate new section.
In the case of cross-compatible themes and apps, we will copy the thread to each new section.
*Any threads not edited to specify a carrier will be lost when we close this forum in the coming days.*

hi guys

just wonderin what do i use to make a rom can somebody please explain
Visit Xperia Play Q&A http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1252 and make the proper questions there.
3 Things
1) Thread moved to Q&A
2) Please title your threads more appropriately, I.e. a good one for this thread would be
"[Q] What's a good place to learn how to make roms?" and then in your post explain what you're looking for
3) Here's a good place to start looking for how to make your own roms, Chef Central -> Android:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=613
Here's the subtext for the Chef Central forum:
Learn Android ROM development. For serious students only. This forum is monitored and moderated by seasoned developers.
Click to collapse
If you do want to start making your own Roms, here's how I started:
1) Read.
2) Read.
3) Read more.
4) Search for any questions you have.
5) If you can't find an answer then post.
6) Read.

Edit: Here's an excellent link to read to, from Cyanogen, the founder of CyanogenMod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6243873&postcount=1 . His PDK link is bad though, here's a better one.
