Want to root my HTC Desire.

I'm not sure where to post this.
Anyway, I want to root my HTC Desire. This will be my first time rooting a phone and I'm pretty excited haha. I have searched on Google for rooting/flashing methods, but none of them actually worked for me. I guess it's because my HTC Desire runs Android 2.3.3? I read something about downgrading my phone to 2.2 again, because rooting is than easier? Can somebody help me? ><
Information about my phone:
HTC Desire A8181.
Android version 2.3.3.
HBoot 1.02.001.
I don't know if this is enough information for you guys to help me, but if you need more, just ask.
And btw, I am 14 and not a native English speaker, so there may be some grammar/spelling mistakes.

you don't need to... you can get s-off via revolutionary and flash zip via recovery from question about root... 4th question from here

youre on the the htc dev rom right ? ( it a f.... **** rom) heres a rough guide to get s off although the guy is using a evo 3d the concept is about the same http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192868 follow part 1 and 2 of the video's , part 3 is not applicable if you successfully flash clockwork mod , flashing clockwork mod is part of revolutionary's package . root is not needed but clockwork mod is needed for flashing custom roms

hated the htc dev rom so much , kept crashing etc .
i'm assuming he is on it as he has not rooted his phone .

Another Off Topic. Hey erklat, I haven't used any Sense rom based on the official GB update since I'm an AOSP kind of guy recently. Is that rom on your sig solid as a rock? I might give it a flash one of these days.

It is if you remove SetCPU. Somehow I guess it is in conflict with screenstate script. Last week it was running strong for way more than 300hrs before I forgot my charger in a car on a parking lot. I used it as a hotspot which ran battery flat before I managed to plug it in. Otherwise, it would probably work now even.
Apparently there will be an upgrade. Neophyte tweeted it, and AuraxTremeGinger is a thing to wait for.

are you on the cdma desire ? i'm on the gsm telstra desire .
on my telstra desire the htc dev rom would crash on stock apps eg camera and message etc and my phone would reboot or freeze randomly , i know it's software related as when i was on the 2.2 rom from telstra i did not have these issues , got so fed up with the rom i decided to s off and install a new sense rom ,from that day on my phone does not freeze or reboot .

No, i own the GSM version. It's an unbranded terminal, PVT-4, made in China (not Taiwan).

3. TAKE ANY AOSP KERNEL. REPACK WITH THE BOOT.IMG FROM THE ZIP.
4. INSTALL ROM, GAPPS

Further kernel repacking, all your data stored in /sdcard
will move to /sdcard/0/ at first boot. That's a needed thing by the kernel.
If they don't go there automatically, move them manually.
If you ever go back to 4.1, remember to move all content from /sdcard/0/

LOL i never got a Galaxy Note.
The thread layout may have mislead you.
ParanoidAndroid is a team who made a special ROM.
I ported it to the One X, as much other XDA members do. For the Galaxy Note, it's another dev who made ParanoidAndroid compatible with the device. I did it for the One X.

So just so I'm sure...I can play around with this off of WiFi for now because of No Gsm?

Yeah, the GSM signal issue is a big problem.
But it should be fixed quickly. I'll tell it here when fixed.

By gsm do you mean all radio stuff like calls and texts or just Internet?

As soon as GSM is fixed I will try out the rom, this is exactly what I have been looking for .

sry to say that but even on computer it seems to be everything except a zip file
but renaming does the trick of course

Rom request !!! Sense 4 ics

Hello guys, im thinking why there still do not have a fully working ICS ROM for Wildfire S or any Fully working SENSE 4 ROM ... befor long time was sayed out that our processor and device cant handle it for this reason there is not Update for us officialy not SENSE 4 or Not ICS but
Now i see a HTC Desire C witch have the same Specification like Wildfire S the same resolution and the same Processor that work at 600Mhz and it is with the latest Android and SENSE 4
We are already overclocked and our devices work perfect at 806 and even higher.
My request is SOMEONE who is a cooker can build using the latest 2.3.5 Android EU Build and to interegrate it with SENSE 4 taken from the Desire C there will not have need to port anything when officialy is made for our resolution also i think can work even better when is cleaned from the cooker from unnessacery files.
And another interesting ROM is just someone to port the HTC Desire C Official latest ROM for us.
When this litle device comes with this official version i think we can have this ROM too and to be stable as for everyday USE like stock.

OKay if the Android cant be ported because of the limitation of the button in the desire are only 3 button instead of 4 there do not have reason the SENSE to have problem to be fixed for our devices.
Will be awesome a pure 2.3.5 ROM with integrated SENSE 4 on it.

HTC made it quite impossible to do it...they even messed up with picture codecs and spread everything all over. So its like impossible.

Impossible. Another thing is sense 3.6. It is same as 3.5 but difference is GB and ICS. It may be impossible too

I assume it is based on MIUI? Whic hone? With the AOSP Base? Or the Sense Base? I'd like to know so I can figure out if it'll work with my hboot

I think it isn't miui base.. Surely base on aosp.. It is another rom like miui but not miui.. Gonna check it out now..

On One X MIUI is not a base, CM9, CM10, AOSP or Sense would be the real base. Which one is it though?

all are AOSP based.. CM, AOKP, MIUI, Sense, Samsung crap etc... are all derivates based on AOSP that google gives...

The screenshots are of Galaxy Nexus... very less description in op.. I think this rom is not made for OneX. I tried installing it, stuck at boot loop.. Then again.im on a newer hboot so might be a conflict with that

they've released on for a few devices recently apparently its built on cm9

It's actually Note 2
Since is probably based on CM we will need special boot.img...can you try to repack it with one that works on newer HBOOTs?

I've tested this ROM... It's the 1st ROM that looks like iOS, BUT
there are too many chinese apps
altough it uses CM7.2 as a base, there's only the English and the Chinese language included
If I change the language to English, there are many apps and settings that aren't translated, so they're still in Chinese
it's outdated. I would maybe use it, if it would use CM9 as a a base, but Gingerbread, is too old for me
I'm not a racist, but I don't want to run a chinese custom ROM on my WFS
So, I'd recommend to download the ROM, extract some of the apps and install them under CM10.
EDIT: It's a bit laggy, i expect CM7 to be fast and stable!

To be honest it looks like joy's! I used to run joyOS on my wfs a while back and it runs smooth and it is based on cm7! So if you want to use it look for it in the forums or Google it, you can even build your own version of joyOS! No offense to the poster of the thread!
