Updated(28 March)HTC ONE X does come and SOME Does Not come with beats audio headset! - HTC One X

Updated 21 March, I have a confirmation of HTC emailed me. HTC informed me that all HTC One X will have a Beats Headset ! YEAH ! But I have a question is it ibeats or urbeats headset? As far as I know, ibeats were more expensive than urbeats. So, guys actually which 1 you prefer ibeats or urbeats?
Update 28 March again, this time I heard some people pre-order does not include beats headset including me. I'd disappointed because why HTC you give us hope and when it out, it is another story. I disappointed not because of not include beats headset, I disappointed was because why htc lie to us?

Lot of discussion on this topic in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1476788
I and many others don't believe that's proof enough that there wont be beats. HTC have said many times its un-decided. In the post I linked to above one user has posted a conversation with HTC UK support who say it will come with beats. At this time we just don't know. The information Amazon have is probably just the basic info HTC gave them and subject to change until the release date (which also hasn't been confirmed)

I've, spoke with a HTC rep in my store and he suggested that adding £80 earphones to a flagship smart phone devalues it which I found upsetting as I've ordered mine already :-\

Devalues it? One of HTC's main feature is that their devices use Beats Audio technology. Wouldn't they want Beats earphone (even cheap ones) to complement the phone?

Have they actually said you need beats headphones to take advantage of the better sound? If not then it doesn't really matter

It's not been confirmed if they come with beats earbuds or not.
Just have to wait & see.
But it should... They supplied them with the sensation, surely it would be stupid not to with their flagship X model.

noticed this on twitter:
Sander Schaeffer: @Vilscon @htc @HTCSource are there any expectations what headset Will come along with the One X, together with a Vodafone plan in NL? Gonna buy the X
HTC: @Vilscon Hey, Sander. We will have more information on this when availability and pricing details are released later. Stay tuned!
My guess they either don't come with beats other wise why not just say they do? or they will come with Flat wired (non-tangle) beats headset (aka beats tour) and they are wanting to make a big announcement out of it to stir more interest.

Beats headphones don't take advantage of better sound. Beats Head/Earphones are pretty overrated. My Shure headphones blow any beats head/earphones out of the water. In a marketing standpoint, it would make sense to include Beats earphones with the phone. If Beats headphones come with the phone, i'm selling them right away.

Ya, my thread was more direct, I have see no point discuss in "mega information" since we have the whole general thread. I creating this thread because we have to straight to the main point why HTC does not include ear buds for the flagship. Actually, they said undecided were making us felt there were still hope including ear buds, but the truth it is not. As you can see HTC One X surely enter in production and will release in April 4-5, so do you think they are still undecided when the deadline is so close?

Just out of curiosity. Does the beats enhancement work with any earbuds? i have some Shures.

So in other words a well marketed scam. One than can be replicated with a decent EQ or music player from the Market, oops I mean 'Play"

As far as I am aware the beats audio "eq " only activates when beat headphones are connected. This can obviously been bypassed by rooting and using a custom rom but as standard /stock you can only use beats headphones. (unless they have changed things)

Lol beats audio isnt an "equaliser" please goto rezound development and look at chad.goodmans op (kernel developer), no custom ROM has beats unless its using the stock kernel provided by htc with beats audio.

Seems to be lots of different information on this... I've read:
Beats is just a software EQ / Beats is a hardware EQ
Beats works with any headphones / Beats only works with beats headphones
Beats only works with Sense / Beats works on any ROM
See this post that was on front page of XDA:

Couple of forum threads:

surely it must be a software EQ.....
either way, your non-beats head/earphones should still work with the beats EQ on the one X as many videos and even HTC have said that
previously it only worked with beats earphones (there must have been some trigger only found with beats earphones somehow), but now on the htc one series, they've opened it up with one video saying "as long as you can have audio out, it will use the beats audio" (cant remember which exact video, youtube it....one of them there)

Its not real, im surprised xda portal passed it through without looking into it, they should do some research before throwing things up, all that is fake, just like how "bravia engine on all devices" is fake too.
Currently beats only runs on beats earphones/headphones, and on devices supported by htc, beats runs on sense only, beats is hardware not software.
I did notice they said beats will work on everything or something like that but havent looked into it.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk

Yeah it's been said officially many times that the beats eq on the one series will work with any headphones.
Anyway I personally would prefer that the phone didn't come with any beats headphones if their price are worked into the phones price in any way. Although on the flip side as mentioned you could flog them off to some sucker who thought they were any good.

Expansys.pt replied to a user question saying One X will come with Beats AudioTM.

I really hope this doesn't bring an influx of "does this ROM have Beats?" questions.
It's vastly overhyped and to an extent, the sound quality isn't any better than what you can configure with Poweramp.

Is there a particular reason people don't like Beats? I haven't tried it, but it seems to be immensely popular although I'm sure a lot of that is due to trendiness.

My reasoning is as follows.
On the Beats Audio HW side, it is overprices POS that lives on name brand along, much like BOSE. This is not to say the Hardware is bad, but rather that it is highly over-priced for what you get and can often get better quality for 1/3rd or less of the MSRP if you buy other brands.
As for the SW side of things Beats audio artificially increases the the lower end of the audio spectrum through audio "enhancement" algorithms which actually colors the sound and effects not only the Lower Bass but Mid-bass as well and imho ruins the music. It ruins it by changing the sound signature drastically from the original. Basically from all I have seen through wave-guide charts is that it adds or amplifies all frequencies under 120hz to be at an equal or higher level than the highest output for a single frequency. In short, it makes all music sound heavy in bass whether or not it was the artists original intention.
Can't say that's what I want happening to my music then. Thanks for the fairly detailed explanation.

But no one as far as I have seen has actually confirmed this for sure (physically or by driver)

The tests over at GSMArena agree with you. They found lots of distortion, noise, and lack of stereo separation.
At least the U.S. Galaxy S III models have excellent frequency reproduction. I mostly ignore the dynamic range (I think it's difficult to be sensitive to the minor variations in this regard). I'm just worried that the noise will be high enough to be perceptible, and it doesn't make me happy to know my headphone channels are mixing more than they should.

It all depends on how you look at it if you listen to raw "FLAC" format audio then DAC will make your phone sound beautiful but if your listening to lower quality mp3's then a compressor will defiantly do you well. All DAC is ;in a nutshell ; playing audio exactly the way it is.

The audio DAC (as people are using it here) is an electronic system that converts the digital files stored/generated on your phone and allows you to hear them on your analog devices like headphones and the speaker. If it introduces distortion and noise, then it will do so regardless of the source material. You could argue that it doesn't matter with ten-year-old, low-quality MP3s, but it does matter somewhat.
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by a "compressor" in the context of playback.
Also keep in mind that, ultimately, it doesn't matter that much. The audio quality is going to be better than anything you might have listened to twenty years ago, and most people aren't going to notice unless you have a good set of earphones or speakers and are listening at a very loud or very quiet volume. If you tend to keep your volume around the middle of the "bar", I think you'll be hard-pressed to notice anything at the differences we are discussing here.
According to those tests the dac in the s4 krait is a actually superior to both the gs and gs2..and I can personally tell you my evo LTE sounds great with both my beats tours and klipsch ear buds

HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy SIII?

Hey my phone contract is expiring soon and I am looking into a new phone. I am debating between the One X and the Galaxy S3. My preferences are good camera quality, video quality, fluent screen response, a crisp screen HD like, and good internet connection/battery. Can anyone recommend one?
it's not like you can search for the answer in the 1000+ threads with the same topic and question on this forum, right? that seems like a looot of work and reading, right?
well, if you want the better phone, hox is definitely the way to go, as the 4.0.4 update + the camera mod will give you what you want, but you'll have to deal with us, obnoxious hox owners with a superiority complex and follow the forum rules, because that's how we roll
Thank you. I guess I could've searched its just I'm on my phone so I don't want to waste time scrolling through pages Lol

I understand lol i just wanted to be a smartass too.
well, like I said. the 4.0.4. update makes the phone run smoothly, getting ridiculously high benchmark scores, which were the main bragging rights point for th gs3 owners.
battery life was also improved and with faux kernel plus hamdir's gaming app/mod, you should be able to play games without any lags
the camera is improved and with the onexed mod by abo-mara, it gets amazing results.
the screen is miles ahead the gs3 and in terms of build quality, it's quite subjective, but it looks better imo, although I've never held a gs3 to say it feels better, but the hox just feels great imo.
only problem, and for some people it's a huge one, is that there is no s-off yet. you can only root by unlocking the phone at htc-dev, and that may and probably will, void your warranty. if that's not a deal breaker, the phone is definitely a great purchase, specially since the hox community here in xda-dev is amazing and the devs rock!
I think you are doing wrong.you opened this thread under One X forums so you probably get advices from only one side of people who are one x lovers lastly hox is better SG3 for anyway
If u like modding...hoc, if u only use facebook ..sg3
Go a try both by yourself.hahaha
Htc One X Venom ViperX Rom + faux123 s kernel + Rezound Mod

Aftermarket headphones with mics don't work for making calls on the GSIII?

Hey Guys, I am VERY frustrated with this phone.
I have 2 pairs of awesome aftermarket phones that I have used for years on various phones to make and receive calls: Klipsch s4is and Bose E2s, which have worked on: iphone 4, iphone 4s, nexus one, LG G2x.
I just sold my 4s to get a GS3, and now, the headphones are not recognized by the phone app. WHen I dial out, I cant hear anything, and the mic doesn't register my sounds. There is no option for wired headset in the phone sources section of the phone app (which has a bluetooth option, and a speaker option, but not a wired headset option).
Is there any solution to this? If not, I'm immediately selling. I can't imagine that this is the most popular android device. I'm already dealing with the stock mail app not showing or syncing Exchange sub-folders, which is very, very annoying. Combine that with the headphone issue, and I'm already ready to bail. Please help!

Loyalty? What are you talking about. I'm about quality and features, not loyalty. In fact, to be loyal to a phone sounds completely wacko to me.
I'll repeat for everyone: I just called Samsung tech support. They have confirmed that aftermarket headsets DO NOT WORK ON THIS PHONE.
The also confirmed that: exchange sub-folders DO NOT WORK ON THIS PHONE.
You're telling me that is acceptable on their premier device? That is a joke. I will most definitely be selling this phone for one that supports the most basic, basic functionality.
BTW, I tested the phones on 5 different phones at the ATT and TMO stores and the Samsung kiosk at the mall. The headphones work on none of them. The 2nd tier customer support at Samsung has zero helpful information, and no date to fix. This is pathetic. I'll be getting rid of this phone now. If anyone wants a brand new white 32gb GS3 for TMO with an elago case and screen protector, let me know.

Her advice was also to buy a third party exchange app.
Have you tried them using a non touchwiz rom? That might be a solution
I have the same problem, but it only happens on "3 buttons" headset. If you use "one button" headset, it works fine with S3.
Example: I have Bose MIE2 (universal) and MIE2i (dedicated volume buttons for iPhone).
MIE2 (one button) does not disconnect when making calls, but MIE2i gets disconnected everytime when making call and I have to re-plug to make it work again.
My brother has piece of sh it headphones from Walmart with a built in answer button and mic. It works just fine...

I feel your pain. The first time I realized that my headsets didn't work with the S3 I was baffled. And it sucks that every time I'm listening to music with my earphones and I get a call, I have to pull the phone out and answer the call using the earpiece and mic on the phone. Totally stupid and frustrating. I hope it gets fixed soon. It's also really funny how the buttons work (one, not 3 on 3-button headsets like mine) to pause and skip tracks but the mic doesn't. Stupid.
On the Exchange Folders front, all folders do show up. The way I access them (I have multiple exchange accounts set up) is to hit the account drop down and then tap on show all folders. So the Samsung support person you talked to was wrong on that front.

Secondly, bluetooth? i don't use bluetooth. i use high grade wired earphones with mic: Klipsch and Bose. THE DEVICE DOESN'T SUPPORT THEM.

My original Android wired headphones (that came with the Nexus One) work perfectly with the T-Mobile SGSIII to play music and make/receive calls. The call comes in, the music pauses and I answer the call, talk to the caller, hear them perfectly and end the call using the headset button. There something wrong with either your headset (I'm leaning in this direction) or your phone.

I have used wired and BT headphones from 3 different companies and I can listen to music and make calls with all of them.

I have klipsch 4S Androids and they work fantastic on my SGS3. Personally, I love the headset and the Mic on it works great. I know klipsch say the iPhone ones don't work on android. But I agree, you should buy a different phone. You must like what you buy when you spend on a top of the line phone.

[Q] Viper V4A Audio

I was just wondering what people's experiences on this are? I see it built into a lot of roms these days, but I'm happy on Bonestock right now so I've been hesitant to bother installing it separate because it looks like a pain. I'm happy with how Poweramp handles the EQ (I don't use Beats ever) but I was wondering if maybe people have noticed a big difference even with a great EQ like Poweramp has? Is it worth the hassle to install separate?
hands down the best! I have it installed and run it over beats. the customization is amazing and the sound is awesome. I am using a pair of House of Marley Zions and it could't get much more crisp and clear. the bass will blow you away as well.
I've got to second what ADodson said. I never have Beats turned on...just always use V4A. Sounds way better.

Can anyone link me to an easy way to install it or be kind enough to quickly write me the steps? I know it can be different from device to device so that's why I'm asking if anyone's done it.
