[Q] HTC Releases ICS for the DHD - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dont know if this is the right topic to put it but i still do it
http://nl.hardware.info/nieuws/26819/htc-maakt-bekend-welke-telefoons-een-update-naar-ics-krijgen
Is a dutch website.
It says something like, here is the list of all devices which will get an ICS update in the beginning of the year 2012.
And dhd is listed, will this mean that we get a proper ics?
And a aosp rom of it?

I don't wanna blame you, but this list is out for some time now.
And yes, it means we will get a proper ICS for DHD. Or at least the right Camera drivers for DHD!!! There are already some nice Builds to use!

Yea i know there are different roms avaible, but their all ports of other devices, and none of them run flawlessly, and it doesnt seem to matter which radio you use.
Therefore i asked if there will be a proper aosp ics rom?

Think it was more like an announcement from HTC that ICS will be coming to these devices in the next few weeks.
So I guess HTC will release "ICS" for HTC Ace around April 1st ^_~ lol

Don't get your hopes up. HTC takes forever to roll out updates

If my DHD only s-off and rooted with official version 2.3.5, will I still receive official ICS update?

No, not until HTC releases their drivers and kernel.

I am currently on IceColdSanwich and I love it. But the glitches and things.. Well if HTC is smooth and fast (well maybe!!) I might give up on flashing my phone every week.

:-D
cant wait to get the ice from htc but wright now im on the IceColdSandwich - 7.0 - AOKP | ERROR404 EDITION and it runs great

Eden2812 is right, you should try Gingerninja v.0.1.1, but WiFi is not working yet...
But I wouldn't recommend it, unless you can put up with some parts of your phone being non-functional. Since the source code was only released not too long ago, Gingerbread development is still in its infancy.

[Q] Is Froyo 2.2.2 officially on its way?

Hi,
I know this update that corrects the sms bug is out but will it be available on the official OTA Desire not branded?
Thank you.
Good question.
I can't see why HTC won't push this out as surely it can't impact the sense UI - but i have a feeling we'd be better off waiting for Gingerbread...
I wonder if anyone has mailed HTC support (not that they'll probably get a decent answer, but it might be worth asking)
Thing is, though, the bug has only happened for me in a non-Sense ROM

A non-Sense ROM can run Froyo (take MIUI for example)!
I often send sms to "unknown" persons for my job (to remind them an appointment), I realise they didn't receive it when they're actually missing this appointment. That's a bummer!

CM7 doesn't have that problem. I've tried the other Gingerbread roms and yes, the data connection doesn't work but CM7 does for me which is weird.

I'm using CM7 since #18 and I've the same data connections problem. It always works after a reboot but after a while, it's not working anymore. No problem with the Sense stock ROM
I'm surprised some of the 2.2 devs haven't incorporated the fix into their 2.2 ROMS yet. It would be nice as I know someone with the bug. A GB ROM would have to have the fix as well! So look for an updated version and that the dev has applied it to their ROM.

Just one of those things luckily CM7 is still in nightly but hopefully it will get fixed for you

[Q] some questions about official gingerbread

hi i installed official gingerbread(modded by Alex with data2ext) rom yesterday... haven't had much time using it yet to see all the changes... t first sight, nothing really spectacular, i am a bit deceived tbh.. waiting for so long for this... first thing i checked was camcorder; results 720p still sucks: it lags and i have a class 10 kingston card... then tried 480p... lags also (audio and video out of sync....).... so camcorder was not fixed.. anyway, here are some questions about the official gingerbread:
- is bluetooth fixed? (can i use a wiimote e.g.?)
- is the call delay issue found in all gingerbread roms patched by htc?
- 7 digits call id fixed? (does not seem so at first sight)
i am getting a bit bored with htc sense tbh, thought they would put latest sense on it... guess i will soon go back to custom sense 2.1/3.0 roms
do u know how can root the official gengerbread i also upgrad to the 2.3.3 and want to root it to instal recovery and use my backup
Please people, READ and use SEARCH.
There are million threads already, that the official 2.3 upgrade
CAN NOT be rooted yet after you installed on your phone due to HBOOT change.

Actually there are people saying it is possible, but majority says it is not.
You'll get a version newer/older error.

Yeah, it's better to wait some days, until Alphev/Unrevoked teams upgrade their tools...

[Q] Wildfire S anyone?

I received a Wildfire S (HTC Mavel) from a friend. It has 2.2.1 installed. Like to replace it with a 2.3.x rom. Couldn't find any available rom nor instructions how to create one for this device.
Question: Has anyone tried the rom meant for Buzz on a Mavel?
There's a wildfire s section in these forums, I can't get you the link as the PC is at the other side of my room, it's early and cold so I'm not getting outta bed......
I haven't seen any posts about a buzz rom working on a wildfire s, maybe you could be the first?
Try clicking on the little home sign near the top of the page if your on a computer, if your on a phone app click forums at the top and scroll down till you see wildfire s section.

Shouldn't it have come with Gingerbread already Installed? I remember it had 2.3 installed before it was launched, since the Barcelona Mobile Phone Congress...
If not, you can OTA update it...

Mine is running 2.2.1 and is pretty messed up. The WiFi does not work either. Which is why I want to try updating it to 2.3 - perhaps with an aftermarket ROM with source that I can play with
Well better try on the Wildfire S forum section.
If I were you I would Factory Reset> OTA Update to Gingerbread and not use any custom RoM.
It is just me...I prefer sense

Really? At the risk of sounding like a jerk.... How did you even find your way into the Q&A section without seeing tons of posts about "When will we get the ICS update?"
Just to let you know, once the OTA ICS update is released you will not be able to download it since you are not on the Verizon network. What you will need to do is S-OFF (or at least HTC Dev Unlock) your phone so that you can flash a custom rom. The best part about this is that you don't even have to wait for a custom rom to be released thanks to our awesome devs! You have tons of options for ICS, if you want stock Nitsuj17 just posted a leaked version of the update earlier today and he also has another sense ICS rom out, CondemnedSoul soul has a few nice options (AOKP and CM9 or if you want JellyBean he has the new version of AOKP as well,) Aerovan has an awesome CM9 and a CM10 rom, TazzPatriot has a sense ICS rom out too. There are others as well, those are just the ones that spring to mind.
Thanks

There is no real "stock" ICS ROM yet as it hasn't been released. The closest ROMs to stock ICS at the moment are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846304
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745483
The first link is the closest as it is from a test leak.
thanks

Just stay stock. If you are that much of a rookie to this, it just might make things worse at this point in time. Most don't have GSM working 100% from what I understand (GSM users can correct me on that).
But, if you haven't even rooted yet, you are still a bit away from being able to flash one of those bad boys. I say give it another week at least to see what these devs can do with the leaked rom.
It will probably be easier for you. If not, and you think you are ready to take the plunge, than good luck and enjoy!
