Uninstall apps on ICS SGN... - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi all,
I have downloaded fifa 12 and after realising that it don't work, I immediately proceed to uninstalling it.
The problem is fifa 12 downloaded an additional resource of appx 1.2gb. And removing the app doesnt remove this 1.2gb.
How do I remove an app entirely... else I think I wasted a lot of storage spaces.

Download a file manager
Form my G-Nex *****

how did you uninstall it? i'm assuming if you just uninstall via the Play Store or Settings, then reboot, the files would disappear.

If the game put its files where it should they are deleted automatically when you uninstall.

I uninstall through settings ... however my used storage still stands at 3.2gb

Get a file manager go into sdcard/Android/data and delete it there

A Filemanager is one way but often there is a much easier way with ICS:
Identify the orphaned files/folder via Settings > Storage. Most of the time you can just delete the unwanted files right from this menu or at least get the location of the files to delete them with a file explorer.

damn was going to get fifa aswell.

FIFA not working????????

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openintents.filemanager
This is a great non-bloated file manager. Free and open source.

[Q] Save APK file from Android Market ?

Hi,
I have some applications I want to save, I mean the APK file.
But I find them only on the android market, and doesn't see how to save the .apk file on my disk (for future use for example).
Do you know if the apk file is stored somewhere in the phone ?
Thanks
Is your phone rooted? It makes a difference. If not rooted you can use mybackup from the market to backup the apps. Never tried it and I am guessing it won't backup paid apps and only free versions. But it might.
If your phone is rooted you can find your apps in the data/app/ folder.
Once you have installed the App, look in /cache/download. Most apks will be in there.
You don't need rooted phone to save (backup) apk's. Just use MyPhoneExplorer which has the function to backup all installed programs (apk's) to computer (also backups SMSes, contacts, etc)
D>
yes, the phone is rooted.
I checked with Estrong explorer in the folders data and cache and there's nothing ...
The idea is to keep the apk files somewhere when they are not directly available on the net, only using the android market.
Back them up on titanium backup then when you want them again just restore them using titanium again, you can restore them fresh or with your old settings, hasn't failed me yet

Look in data/app as I said. This is the location of all user installed apks. Unless you are using a ROM that uses a different location. Only familiar with sense builds myself. Or use a program that can backup apps. There were 3 mentioned in this thread.

Either or, depending on what you're after. Apps you've installed (e.g. from the market) will be in /data/app, system apps (e.g Sense and the apps bundled with it) will be in /system/app.
//sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk; all errors entirely intentional.
If the directories/files are not there then check that ES file explorer is configured to show hidden files.
Jon
For unrooted devices, using ES File Explorer:
1. Open ES File Explorer
2. Press Menu >> Manager >> App Manager
3. Long press the application and then press Backup
4. .apk file will be saved to /sdcard/backups/app/

If the the apps are on ur sdcard, plug in ur phone to computer and mount as disk drive and get it that way.
Or download "MyBackUp" or "Titanium Backup" from the market, backup ur apps and then plug in ur phone to computer, mount as disk drive and copy the backup file to ur computer. I think the MyBackUp file is called "reware" on ur sdcard.

Well my English is not so advanced so if i misunderstood the question, Sorry..
But i think u are asking that when i installed an app how can i extract it from my phone, in which directory the apks are?
So my answer is if you are rooted then use titanium backup app to send any email your apk files;
and if you are on a unrooted device then you should check this out..

You can use 'AndroZip' app from the Play Store (free).
Once you open the app, on the top toolbar you have option called 'Apps'
Clicking on it opens an AppManager. Now you can select to Backup multiple or all apps.
Once you are done go back to the main interface.
You can find the .apk files for selected apps in folder /mnt/sdcard/app_backup
Edit: You don't need to be rooted to do this.
You can also use Astro File Manager. Available for free from. The Google Play.
From the main screen go to Applications and backup.
Then select backup. Now you have apks of your applications on the SD card in the backup folder

Android assistant app from Play store, in tools section there's tool for backing up. The .apk files are stored on sd card in Androidassistant_backup folder.

Pre-load apps with rom flash

Hey guys, I was wondering if there is a way to pre-load some applications into the rom so that they load upon 1st flash.
I have had success only with 2-3 apps out of 30+. This is what I have done.
Open the ROM Zip file with winrar and navigate to system\app directory. I have deleted unwanted bloat (swype, TW launcher, camera.apk, TW camera) and added about 30+ apk files that I would like to have preloaded. I flashed the ROM and after the load screen I begin to get error messages, "unfortunately this application has stopped" (or something along those lines.) A few apps did load, Nova launcher, Jelly Bean style Camera, but programs like Gmail, Maps, gallaxy wallpaper, setcpu, and a few games do not laod.
Now I have started from scratch, and removed the preloaded apps I had moved to the system\app directory. I did remove the bloat listed above. The rom loads fine and I have to spend 30 minutes manually installing each individual app. This is why I would like for it to automatically install all the applications upon 1st boot.
I think it may have to do with the fact that while installing the apps manually I must 1st allow installation of non-market apps under setting/security.
Is there a workaround for this, so that I can load all my apps on 1st flash.
Thanks,
I've heard that there's an app called app2zip which you can backup apps and put into a zip file. Then right before leaving recovery flash the zip and when you're booted you'll have all your apps loaded up

Most apps won't run as system apps. Instead of putting them in system/app Should put your apps in /data/app If the rom you're using already has a data folder you should be good. If it doesn't you'll have to edit the update_script within /META-INF/com/google/android

Beat me too it. There are a lot of apps that end up in data/app such as gmail, games, and other apps. Think of it this way, most of the apps in the system area were initially intended to be there. The ones in data/app are like add-ons. normally the ones in system are hard coded in the actual boot code, so unless you can manipulate that area, try the data/app area like Tnallen stated

[Q] Help installing .apk + Data

I got my N7100 2 days ago so I am very new to this. I am trying to install a game called Heroes Call. I have downloaded the .apk and the data files but I am not sure how to install it. I have managed to put the apk on my phone and run it so that program is now installed but I am not too sure were to put the big data file.
I have been trawling the web to try and figure it out and have seen one person say put it in /android/obb. There is no such folder in the android directory just minisnote and Data.
I have created a folder called obb and just put the downloaded data file that ends in .obb in that folder. now when i run the game the startup screen (that little monkey) just stays on the screen and nothing else happens at all.
Can anyone shed some light on this. I know its a free app but i cant download it in this country of i go through the google play store
Cheers

erm... its free
Before you begin, delete anything associated with that app. The data and app.
Since this is a free game, I'm inclined to help.
Install the app first, but don't open it. Then transfer the data files. Once that's done, you can open the app.

Yeh but i don't get were i am copying the data to thats what i mean. I would pay for it if i could because it looks awesome. When i install the apk it creates a folder in android/data and in that folder is Cache and Files. do i put the obb file in either of those sub files or just in the data file? the closest i have go is running the app and it say downloading resources but then i get the error no resources available
Ok since it is free, I am offering u a solution. Use 7 zip to extract the .obb file and keep it in sdcard/android. Hope it works.

Nope didnt work still just get error could not locate resources. Should have stuck with my iphone haha. Was looking forward to having a bash on that game haha
If it is an obb then copy it to android/obb. Make sure you copy the folder eg. Com.blah.blahblah not the obb itself.

maybe you downloaded a corrupted file. I just downloaded the game and its data. I am playing it right now =P
I was thinking that but it can't be. I have downloaded about 3 different versions. I am thinking now that the problem is that its not available in this country. Once you run the game does it have to connect to the play store even briefly? I can install the apk move the data files and then when i run the game the logo appears and it says looking for resources. Then after about 15 seconds it says cannot locate resources

In certain condition i think app+data backup may help
Get application + data backup of titanium from device where it is working and restore it to your device
you needs root.

i might be a bit late, but you have to create a folder in android called obb (small cases) and place the folder that should start with 'com.' in it. before you do this, install the apk but DONT OPEN IT.. Click done. so finally, when you have downloaded both apk and data( the folder), you can open your game which should be installed on the menu.
P.S i know im verry lat, soz.
