[Q] failed to update to 2.13.401.3 - HTC Wildfire S

Hi! I have a wildfire s with 2.13.401.2. i want to update to 2.13.401.3 but if i try to check for new updates it says that there aren't new updates. i download the shipped rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074445 .
i open the .exe file, click on next a few times but, when it reboot to bootloader, installshield wizard say that the device is not connected so i can't finish the installation. how can i do?

Do you have S-OFF? Check also if debug mode is activated on the phone (Settings-Applications-Development).

You are not suppose to reboot into bootloader, it will do it by itself. That's why the wizard did not detect your device. Also make sure USB debugging is checked under applications/development/USB debugging.

i don't reboot into bootloader. the wizard says that it reboot itself, but on the mobile appear a black screen with the HTC logo and then it says that there are no mobiles connected

Just to make sure that you can flash a ROM, do you have bootloader unlocked?

i haven't unlocked bootloader. i've flashed a rom two weeks ago, switched from a orange (fr) branded ROM to a Marvel HTC EU one. So i need to update to 2.13.401.3 to unlcok bootloader with HTC Dev

Ah ok.
Sorry but I can't see anything wrong there. You didn't modify the recovery option right? (You couldn't since you are locked).I had some update problems recently because I have Clockwork mode recovery installed and at the restart the system was freezing.
Maybe an admin can help..

Don't know if you solved the problem, but maybe you could restore the initial ROM, and then try again with the latest one. Maybe the 2.13.401.2 is creating the problem.

Possible driver errors?

Hey there forum. I made an account just to ask this question because I just spent 7 hours looking for the answer to what SHOULD be a simple fix. I have a T-Mobile HTC Wildfire S with the US RUU installed and the 1.09.0099 HBOOT as well. Now, I have tried to unlock my bootloader on the HTC website like you're "supposed" to. But whenever I put my phone into the bootloader and plug in it in as in the guide. Then I cannot get past step 8. Because my bootloader does NOT stay in "FASTBOOT USB" It goes back to FASTBOOT in around 30 seconds. I have gotten the command prompts in before it goes back but to no avail. When it is in FASTBOOT USB mode, it's as if it's not connected. Then when it goes to the regular FASTBOOT mode, then my Windows 8, 64 bit laptop (in case it was important), makes the sound that it does when you connect something with USB. Some help would be GREATLY appreciated because I am stuck with this phone and I need some CFW.
The drivers don't work on Win8 iirc.

Thanks for the drivers! They successfully installed but I'm still getting the problem where my phone won't stay in FASTBOOT USB...

This picture shows what my device manager looks like when my phone is in FASTBOOT USB.
And this picture shows what happens in the device manager after my phone drops out of FASTBOOT USB and into FASTBOOT. The computer makes the little connecting noise and then THAT.
Tbh, I dual-boot win7 and win8 just for my phone :/
Seeing how it seems you're just trying to unlock your bootloader and root, maybe borrow a friend's pc/laptop for the 30 minutes ?

Root, CM10 and JB for my phone? [WARNING: NOOB TOPIC]

Hello, I recently got xperia play, and decided to root my phone for better performance. Just for fun went to youtube and found this:
Then I remenbered this page, and just found few threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240285 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859.
My phone specs:

If I am correct, according to first thread above, I cant root my device and second one is saying that I cant install JB on my device.
AAAAAAAAND... Im totaly confused now and dont know what to do.
Can you be more clear on what exactly are you trying to achieve?
if you wanna root your phone you must enable "unknown sources" inside applications and also under developing you must enable "USB Debuging".
Then plug your phone in the usb while it's turned on normally and execute the run-me in the zerg rush files.
after that you can install rom manager and get a recovery going on,
when you do have a recovery going on you can use it to flash a new rom.

Ok, I rooted my device, what is rom manager? CM10?
In this thread you will be guided to install a recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840
It's basically install the apk ask the apk to install a recovery and you're done.
Now you will have theability to boot into recovery mode.
To do so you have to keep pressing volume down as you turn on your device.
You will then be able to proceed to installing custom roms.
You might also wanna research for flashtools from there on.

Messed bootloader unlock

I've tried unlocking bootloader using official Unlock app from Asus
I've the latest firmware 2.20.40.168 unrooted.
I've tried it thrice, all I see is is a black screen with a USB symbol and full white bar below it.
I can't enter the bootloader itself.
I've tried reflashing droidboot.img, boot.img and recovery.img. All says <waiting for device> infinitely.
"fastboot devices" displays nothing, my deivce is not detected!
Yet, I can enter the OS and use it flawlessly!!
Please help me enter the recovery please!
I've attahched the screenshot of the black screen when I press Power+Vol Up (release power up upon vibrate)
Thanks in advance!!!

I cant reach the bootloader, how do I flash a custom recovery? Sorry, I'm no genius...pls guide me with a link!
Thanks in advance
Your phone is bricked! Search for unbricking with xfstk in the zenfone 2 threads. Your phone should be recognized as Moorefield when connected to a PC.
Your other option is to go to a Asus service center or send it to them, but your warranty could be void, because of using official bootloader unlocker!
Edit:
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3284337
@_WiNNa_
You said it too fast. He's able to boot to system properly but unable to enter bootloader.
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD
@krasCGQ
Yeah, you're right! Too fast to say bricked!
But afaik xfstk is the only way to get droidboot/fastboot back.
As far as the phone wouldn't be recognized as any other than Moorefield.
Even if adb can recognize the device, one could not flash droidboot with that, right?
... Or perhaps I'm just talking bullsh*... I'll better quit now... [emoji32]
I'd say bricked too, even though you can run the OS when a new update comes out it won't update if it can't go to recovery. In fact it might just start a bootloop...
If it bricked while using the "Official tool" then I'd return under warranty, it was working fine before... As has been said, the IMEI number was registered with ASUS when unlocked, I just wouldn't wait too long as the longer you wait the less chance of being fixed under warranty.
At the very least you can ask about it and see if you can get it sent back for warranty fix, just don't say anything about flashing anything but bootloader...

Restoring Stock rom

Hello guys, this is what i have on my htc m9

Could I restore Stock rom on my htc m9 and how to do that?
And how I now which RUU to chose?
https://www.google.com/url?q=https:...134000&usg=AFQjCNGdzDwYjWYwYr-RSW3t2U9j47aOJw
Download this file. Copy it to your ext sdcard and rename it to 0PJAIMG.zip
Connect your phone to fastboot and type fastboot oem lock
Boot into download mode. Phone will prompt you to install. Press volup and wait.
Before u start backup ecerything
If you're already linking one of my files you could've linked my instructions, too, since what you wrote isn't completely correct. Re-locking the bootloader is unnecessary if you use the SD card method. In the worst case (e.g. if the RUU fails and OEM unlock isn't activated in the developer options) you could end up with a non-booting phone that can't be re-unlocked. The M9 has security checks that prevents it from booting if it isn't completely stock and the bootloader gets (re-)locked. And although I tested that RUU there can always be reasons why it fails to flash.
Could you be more specific please, I am new with htc and I dont know anything about it, What is fastboot? And if you have some time to tell me step buy step how to do that i would be greatiful. Sorry for bad english
Im sorry Flippy498 i just want to help him. You are a genious and i respect you. You are a life saver.

My bad. I didn't notice that my signature isn't visible in this thread.
Edit: I don't know why the link gets broken as soon as I save this post. You'll need to copy'n'paste the link.
THX a lot, now I'm gonna to try to restore stock rome!
@Flippy498 I have just one question, I followed your instructions and it worked perfectly but I still have Software Status marked as Modified. Would I be able to receive software updates ?
Yes, you will. And you'll be able to install them, as well. (Receiving updates is not the problem, it's being able to install them if the system has been modified. However, a RUU reverts every modification you made.)
It's just strange that the flag still says that your system is modified. Normally the SD card method should reset it to original. But that shouldn't be a problem. OTAs don't check that flag. They compare whether the checksum of the system is the same as the reference value. Since a RUU overwrites the current system with the stock one you won't face any problems here.
Thanks a lot dude for your great work and quick reply !

unable to install or launch TWRP

Hey,
I've unlocked my Mi 6 today (i'm using the global developer ROM 8.9.13 (MIUI10)) and wanted to root it, as many guides said I have to replace the default recovery with something like TWRP
result was:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
after leaving it like that for 30 minutes nothing has changed, the screen on my mobile was the the default fastboot screen nothing ever changed
so i tried to just launch TWRP without installing it:
nothing changed like before and i've stopped after 5minutes
i also have the same result with RedWolf Recovery Project:
I also tried using XiaoMiTool but all i got was the message that my phone is not connected to my MiAccount and still locked and did nothing
Does anyone have any idea whats going?
Edit:
seems like flashboot commands dont work? tried flashboot continue to reboot the device after checking with fastboot devices to see if it was recognized by the system and it was indeed.
and the result were the same as above cmd was stuck mobile didnt react....
Thanks
Dugma

I'd rather flash the recovery than just booting to it. You can flash it with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
You should be able to boot to recovery afterwards. Or at least that's what I did when I bought my phone. I updated to the latest version of MIUI (android 8.0), then I enabled "oem unlock") and I was able to flash twrp with no problems. Keep in mind that the stock rom erases any custom recovery with the default one on boot.
Facing the same issue. Tried everything but no success.
