Custom boot loader splash screen?! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Over on the vibrant there used to be custom boot loader splash screens we could flash through Odin, any chance of getting this happening over here?

There's is a way. Always is. You just have to figure out how to write to .lfs which will brick your phone if done incorrectly.

Stuck in Recovery Mode

Hey guys, just rooted my G2, I followed the instructions closely and in the bootloader menu it says S-OFF. I can boot into the OS fine and I have root, but when I'm in the bootloader menu and trying to boot into recovery I get stuck on this screen with a triangle and a exclamation mark. I tried flashing clockworks recovery image, but still no good. Any ideas? Thanks.

Issue [SOLVED]
Yeah, sooo I just fixed it. All I did was reflash the radio image to the latest version then flashed clockworks recovery again and from clockworks rom manager app I was able to get into recovery with no problems. Give it a go, heres the link on how to flash just the radio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836081
Cool ill give it a shot, appreciate the tip

[Q] Hboot Unlocked, S-On, Flash Splash Screen?

Ok, so I've been trying to find a clear cut answer regarding limitations you have with an Unlocked Hboot (Mine is 2.18), but still having S-On.
I've got a Custom Rom/Kernel/Recovery, but I am trying to use PCIMG36.zip to flash a splash screen, I've verified all the info is correct, I changed the splash screen file to splash1.img, I have the txt file in the zip, but no go.
Can you only flash things through recovery with s-on?
Sorry if this has been answered already, I did quite a bit of searching before I posted this...
Yes. You can only flash splash screens, radios, etc with S-off.

Misread your post, are you trying to flash through recovery? PC36IMG.zips are meant to be updated through bootloader. You can only do that once you've achieved S-off.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I've tried flashing through recovery and the installation aborted (did the same thing with a custom boot animation and it also failed), so then I tried the PC36IMG way.
So even if you do it in recovery it won't work with S-On, right? Or is it even possible to do in recovery?

It is NOT possible to do it in recovery and you DO need to have S-off for it to even work through the bootloader.

[Q] Need HELP getting error message "MAGIC VALUE MISMATCH"

Ok so here's my issue ... I flashed cm9 and then went to Jellytime however when I went to go back to cm9 I got smacked with the error message MAGIC VALUE MISMATCH at the boot screen. I won't let me do anything! I'm not a expert but I have been using android since the G1 so I'm pretty confident with my way around this kind of stuff. I tried flashing into recovery and using adb yet nothing seems to work it would only give me a message saying waiting for device. I simply feel defeated and helpless with the monster ... HELP ME PLEASE!!!
I am assuming you are using the unlocked bootloader? Can you get into fastboot?

no .. anytime i try to run something thru the command it just reads waiting for device
That shouldn't ever occur on the a200 boot loader in unlocked mode. Its possible the boot loader was locked again, not sure what process you did to flash to cm9 again.
Power on holding volume up and see if it goes into download mode.

Change Bootlogo

Hey guys, I am wondering if there is a way to change the bootlogo? I mean the bootlogo so not the bootanimation. It is the first image that shows up when you boot.

Afaik its impossible.....we need s-off to get to that part !
It could be done on the xperia arc, which was similar to the one x as in boot a kernel through fastboot, not flash one with cwm. Using a tool like this you could alter an existing kernel splash, but I'm still not 100% familiar with the one x yet so couldn't advise if it would work.
Not possible yet......

Ahh, wasn't sure if the splash image was part of of the flashed boot.img, every kernel I've tried obviously has the same splashscreen. Now I know... Ta.
Yeah i crossed this info last night
The command you need is fastboot flash splash1 nameofimage.nb0
However as stated you cannot run this command without soff

Stuck in CWM Recovery

I have the At&t G Pro and I have it rooted and unlocked boot loader and I think I made the mistake of doing the At&t update and when the phone rebooted it is stuck in recovery. If I reboot it states in the top right "secure booting error!" Cause: device unlock!, so boot success!! And it just returns back to recovery. I'm at a loss
