FINALLY: A dock that charges both phone & extra battery. Maybe extended compatible..
http://cgi.ebay.com/DESKTOP-DUAL-CH...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item4aa6d894b2
About time... This seems to be extended battery compatible since the way it looks to sit in the dock is perfect. It wont interfere with the extended part as it doesnt sit deep into the dock and the extra battery charges the SAME time.
This looks like it might be the same brand that I used on my TP or TP2 that charged both the phone and extra battery with either USB or AC. If someone buys it, please report back if it does or not.
I might get it... 25 bucks tho ahh.
my brother's been lookin for this since day 1, I'll send it to him and see if he bites. If he gets it I'll post his review.
I was shocked when I realized that the one I purchased only charged either/or. Great post OP.
I like this one...ships from the US for $20...

The description in the op's link says the usb is for charging the handset and if u wanted to charge the spare battery u need to plug in the ac. Seems like the same deal with those either or deals.

But that one doesnt do extended batteries...
I personally have had this one for a few months now, I like it because I dont have to take off my case and it charges my backup battery's. The clear plastic thing is removable if you have a case on the phone. Once you remove the clear plastic thing there is no support for the phone. This has not been a problem for me. Still charges great!

EDIT :
It does have a indent about the thickness of 2 battery`s so it might not work with all cases, depending on thickness of case.

This is the one to get, and has been discussed on the forums here a few months back. if you search for EVO dock you'll find the thread, but those Hong Kong ones are junk, don't usually charge both even though they say they do, take weeks to arrive and oftentimes don't fit right. The one from nakedcellphone is a quality dock, shipping is fast and you can charge an extended in the extra slot.

In the eBay picture, it looks like the cradle has only one USB port, is that true? If so, it still won't charge the phone and/or battery when the computer is off, unless you unplug from the computer and plug it into the AC adapter.
I work for sprint and we have had one for about two months now lol. It charges your phone and a secondary battery, with a wall plug in or USB. They are 49.99
So this cradle charges both the phone and a spare battery from either one usb cable or ac adapter? I currently have a kidigi cradle which requires two cables and only charges phone thru usb which makes it think its plugged into a computer even when its not. This is slightly annoying as it always has to prep the SD card upon every unplug from the charger and sometimes messes up some of the sense widgets. Not sure why.

You could have it choose to go to charge automatically. Then it wouldnt do that.

the one fireboy linked will charge both off the ac only. ive not used it via usb, so it may or may not, but it does not trigger the usb response you are talking about which some crappier docks ive used did

Yeah I have the default connection type set to charge only, and "ask me" unchecked but all this does is not put the usb symbol in the notification bar. It still thinks its charging via usb because the widgets always refresh and it always preps sd card upon unplug. Is this what you were talking about or is there another setting I am missing? Thanks.

Does this have the magnet in it that allows the phone to automatically go into dock mode? We just went to Sprint/Evo 4g from VZW/Droid and my current dock charges both phone & battery w/o putting in USB mode plus allows for dock mode which I use to silent all tones so I can sleep. Now I need something that will function the same way as that one as inexpensively as possible. I'm reading that lots of the cheap ones don't have this so I want to make sure that this one does from people who have one and speak English. Thanks!
Anyone see anything like this? I thought I saw something like this once. What I'm looking for:
* plugs straight into the wall: doesn't rely on any extra cables, or micro/mini usb cords
* has *2* usb ports
* includes an internal battery that charges when your phone is charged so if you're away and you have this little box you have extra power
again: no extra cables (aside from a usb cable for your phone, but no charging via mini/micro, charges through the wall ac), battery backup, and 2 ports
Thanks for any input!
jack
Power Jack
You should be more things with you.
Or I could get a device that fits my needs (and exists) .
So the OP confused the hell out of me.

Lets cover the basics first. You essentially want an AC powered external battery for your phone, that has an additional 2 (full-size?) USB ports (assumedly just for power purposes - not as a data hub?).
However, you want it to charge your phone, but without cables, but with a USB cable...
FFFFFFUUUUUUUU!
So do you want a hardwired cable and then 2 spare ports? Or do you want 2 USB ports to be used with normal phone USB cables?
TO CHARGE THE BACKUP BATTERY: no extra cables, plugs straight into the wall, no charging via mini/micro usb charges through the wall ac
TO CHARGE YOUR PHONE: just use your usb cable (standard size, not for data) for your phone and plug it into the unit
So nothing like these:
http://tiny.cc/xj3ow
Hope that's more clear.
I saw someone using something like this once, but I can't find it online.
http://www.amazon.com/Charger-Battery-Motorola-Samsung-powered/dp/B004FEMDXY
Getting closer. But the one I saw had two ports
So this then: http://www.puroitalianstyle.it/en/batteria-demergenza-2-porte-usb-emergency-battery-2-usb-ports
Pretty crappy capacity internal battery, but looks to be the best you can get.
Its not the same as I've seen, but its best I've seen online so far. I'll keep looking but I'll probably try and go for that one.
The benefit of these things is that you can charge your backup battery and phone at the same time and you only need one cable so no mix up with micro/mini cables. With those other batteries I always had to have two different cables (if my phone used micro) and then make sure I charged both.
Thanks!
Search for "Revolve Electronics xeMicro Hybrid USB Charger and Battery Backup with Emergency Squeeze Dynamo" and follow Amazon link. The internal battery is only 1,350maH on the unit but it looks like it meets your requirements. I'd post the Amazon link directly but being a new user on the forum, they won't let me.
Thanks pas,
I actually got this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Digipower-EBP...6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1315323836&sr=1-6
PROS:
* no need to carry other cables (aside from a standard usb cable that you would use to charge a phone anyways)
* two ports
* flashlight (only useful if you dont have one--like me)
* plugs right into AC (don't have to plug some usb cable into a usb port to charge)
CONS:
* not high capacity (1700 mah I think)
Frankly, I don't think the last one is a big deal. I sold a (actually two) XP18000 with 18,000 mAh (yes that's thousand mAh) but it was too bulky and required extra cables. For 90% of users, you only need an extra battery if you didn't charge the night before, an emergency, or unusual heavy use. By the time your phone's battery and this one is dead you'll be next to an outlet where you can charge again. I have *never* needed more capacity, it might be nice, but the point for overkill isn't that far off from this battery.
That's a nice unit. I ordered a 6,600 maH battery pack (New Trent acd66) with dual usb ports the other day. It uses the same microUSB cable as my phones so I won't have to worry about carrying extra cables. Hope it works okay.
That one does look nice. The only reason I asked for an ac charging solution is that 1) usb-charging tends to charge slow (my old 12000 mAh wouldn't dare resort to a usb charging port) 2) it assumes you are next to a desktop. You are more likely to find an electrical outlet than a usb port. If you wanted to charge it so that you have a backup for your phone before a flight, say, you end stealing power from your laptop (unless your laptop happened to be at 100% and plugged in) just so that you have a backup for your phone. Of course you could bring a wall charger with usb ports, but that means you have to lug around something else.
It's not *that* big of a deal, the main reason I went with ac is because I kept forgetting to charge my phone at night, so I just plug it into this battery and if I happen to forget to charge it, the battery will be charged and I can charge it during my commute.
I'm pretty sure you can charge the acd66 using the same usb cable and wall charge plug that my HTC EVO uses. That's how I read the specs anyway. I had the same concern you have about not wanting to be limited to a PC usb port for charging it up. Hope I'm not disappointed when it shows up.
Not sure if this helps....

Take a look at this: Its at Seidio online and called the Multifunction battery charger. I am not allowed to post outside links since I'm new so I'm sorry I just could give you the link.
Good price and Seidio is a pretty good company. I've purchased items from them and been happy. Sometimes a little expensive on certain items but this is only $29. Might be worth looking into. Also take a look at Gorilla Gadgets, they may have something and they have excellent customer service and ship quick. Hope this helps and good luck.

But then you have to carry around the charger AND an extra battery AND you have to swap it out. I don't see the benefit unless you're planning on going through lots of batteries over a long period of time. But if that's the case, just go to ebay and buy tons of battery and associated charger either from Hong Kong (or even in the US). I could get 4 batteries and 2 chargers for for the price you're quoting:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?rt=n...y&_dmpt=PDA_Accessories&_trksid=p3286.c0.m301
What about the ZAGGsparq for $99.99!!! But it has a 6000mAh battery.
That is what you're looking for isn't it?
ac adapter with replacement battery
I got this one: (see attached file!)
for my sgs2 along with a replacement battery. Only one USB port though!
Yeah I had some of those. BUt you end up carrying around extra batteries. I was looking for a external battery, not one you would have to turn of the phone and replace the battery with. But those work depending on your needs.
Have you found it yet???

Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with portable battery packs. I don't mean extended batteries either. I mean the universal usb charger kind that packs several thousand mAh.
I'm looking to get one for a nine hour flight, and I want to know what is a good brand.

I can't answer your question, but a lot of planes have a USB/charging input now. I know when I fly Air Canada, they have it.
I have had an Energizer XP18000 for about 3 months now and it has surpassed my expectations.
It holds 18000 mAh of power and will charge my Gnex and my Xoom at the same time (need to order a special tip for the Xoom/non standard device). I use it for long train rides to keep my phone topped up.
When watching HD video over 4G my battery level will drop about 1-2% every half hour, so it is not charging as fast as the wall charger, but it is enough to keep you from having a dead battery when you get to your destination. With my usage I can go 3 to 4 days and never need to look at a wall outlet.
The size is about as big as a external hard drive. There is also a wall charger that has a good size power brick in the middle of it. You can remove it when you don't need the wall charger, but I keep everything in one small bag so all I have to do is set it down next to an outlet and top up the external battery, then fold the cord into the bag and pull out what ever cord I need when I am on the move. It works just fine with the original Samsung usb charging cable.
I picked mine up from Amazon but you might be able to find a better deal if you look hard enough. They make a smaller model too that is only 8000 mAh.
I always keep it in my bag and it works so well for me that I don't even need the extended battery and leave 4G on all the time.
http://www.energizerpowerpacks.com/us/products/xp18000/
Beautiful. Thanks Dante. And yeah, I heard some planes have USB chargers now. Unfortunately I'm not flying with them. I live near YVR, but Air Canada is having a bunch of problems with their workers right now. Last thing I need is flight delays or bad service.
I did a ton of research before buying mine. I wanted a pocket sized one, that had large capacity (enough to fully charge the phone twice), and could charge a device at a full 1 amp. After much research, I bought the original version of this one:
http://www.newtrent.com/store/iphone-external-battery/iphone-battery-imp50d.html
Mine has less markings and I believe both ports on mine are 1 amp, where as the new one has one 500mA and one 1A port. Mine was also like $55, this one is on sale for barely over $40, an even better deal.
It is very powerful - 5,000 mAh will charge the phone 3+ times - much bigger than other "pocket batteries", fits in a pocket nicely (I wear cargo pants) because it's skinny, like a deck of cards. Fairly light too. Only complaint is that I bought it before MicroUSB became the new standard, so it charges with miniUSB instead.
I carry a retractable mini-usb cable, and a retractable microUSB cable, in an altoids tin, in in my pocket with it. Works great, can charge my friends phones at the same time as me. Had it for 2 years, still going strong!
There are newer designs they have now too if you look at their website.
It does take a long while to charge - 8 hours to charge fully or so if you charge off a 500mAh USB port, because it's a huge battery! a lot less maybe 4 hours if you charge off a high speed 1A charger.
i was looking at this one http://www.amazon.ca/Anker-8400mAh-...UTF8&coliid=I3IVVC4G6YETK&colid=1ILTNQ88L4FE5
it has a 2amp 5v port, this can charge a transformer prime with the screen off.
I got this one recently:
http://www.amazon.com/Anker-SlimTal..._1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1335035472&sr=1-2
Its (much) smaller than my Nexus, has a built in micro-usb cable, and charges via micro-usb as well. While it doesn't have the capacity of those listed above (only 3200mAh), it was only $20 and the size really does let you take it everywhere.
It can fully charge it the phone from dead about 1.5 times.
I bought mine due mainly to the fact that it includes the micro-usb cable that hides away when not in use. It has a standard USB port as well for charging other items, but the appeal of only having to carry one item and no extra cable sold me.
My only complaint is that the built in cable could be a bit longer.
It has a flashlight too... lol
Been researching this topic lately and found that Anker's 10,000mah external battery is looking the best

I use the Veho Pebble and it's fine for my needs. I get 2 charges out of it.
after hours of my own research I also bought the Anker Slimtalk. I dont travel enough to need one that is huge and can charge my phone 8 times. This seems small enough to toss in my pocket and not bother me since its so thin and light. For $20 and the convenience of having its built in micro usb cable sounds like a perfect little invention to get me through the day.
If I traveled more I would of probably got the Energizer XP8000. Their tip program is awesome. Free tips for life but really its $2 shipping each. if you want this device to charge a whole bunch of things it can. My Acer netbook, EVO 3D, girlfriends RAZR, 3DS, bluetooth, iPad 2, Nook, and the list goes on. I've been trying to ask New Trent for almost a week if their products would be compatible with the Energizer Tip program but found that contrary to what I've read their customer support is terrible, but their prices are better than energizer. So they loose out on the sale since over the last few times of researching has allowed me to find the Slimtalk which for the price and for my needs is perfect.

Exactly why I went with it. Even while traveling I'm generally within range of a car or home charger, especially now that pretty much everyone without an iPhone has a micro USB charger somewhere.
I just wish it had a built in AC adapter as well but I'm sure the size would increase by quite a bit. Someone (iGo maybe) makes one like that but it only has about an 1100mah battery if I recall.
I found something here in the Netherlands, and I'm not quite sure if you guys in the US have the same thing..
The thing this has going for it is it's portability. It fits in your pocket, and if you don't mind a big lump in your pockets, it even fits together with your phone.
Click over there <<< to check out the dutch website of duracell. It basically is a battery with a socket plug on it, and 2 USB outlets.
Tech. info:
Output voltage: 5 volts DC
Input voltage: 5 volts DC, max. 1 amp
Capacity: 1800 mAh
Offcourse, this is the dutch version, with the dutch socket plug, but maybe there's an US version as well?
Thanks for all the info here guys. I have that crappy Black and Decker Pocket Power from a few years back, that well, isn't living up to the charge these days, so I need something else.
Still a bit too many options, but I'm sure I'll find one that works the best.
So my phone (SPH-L710) is almost at retirement and the charging port is a little beat up. It charges with some cables and others it doesnt. Ironically most Samsung micro usb cables are the least reliable for my phone.
The one charger I have that is consistently reliable for some reason and never fails to charge is an LG charger. This is the model sta-u34wvi . The issue it is a one piece charger and the usb cable does not separate from the plug for use with a car/cigarette adapter or a pc.
So I am trying to find a micro-usb that will work as well as this LG charger to use for the remaining few months I use this phone.
I am wondering if there is something specific about the pins or something that makes this charger work so well, hoping someone here can shed some light so I do not have to just take a stab in the dark and order micro usb cable randomly to find that it does not work.
Thanks for any advice.
Not sure, but I have some from the dollar store and other random ones from the years from other phones that will charge but suck for data usage when connected to a pc. My GF was trying to copy to her phone, it shows in my computer, but any copy just slows to like 10hours for 3 mp3's. Tried different ports, etc, and eventually a different cable, now it's 3 albums in 1 minute transfer time. The other cords obviously work in the sense that it charges, it shows in my computer, let you access the phone, see the folders, but any intense data transfer over them and they crap out. No idea what the real diff is, but we're just marked them for data usage with a piece of tape of them. lol.
Hi everyone! My phone is having a problem. It was fine until today.
My phone charge EXTREMELY SLOW and decrease battery percentage sometimes. Then I used Battery Monitor Widget to check my phone and what I saw was terrible!!! The energy go into the phone was only <100 mA, while it was >200mA on my friend's Zenfone 4. Then I tested on a new battery, it still had that problem
And now, I'm wondering about this: Is my phone's charging port cause this problem???
I suppose that a bad port may be possible. How old are both batteries though? Even if you just got one, keep in mind many S3 batteries have been on the shelf for a long time. I've had 2 in the past that were bad even though they were brand new.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
Try getting a 2amp charger. and a fast USB charger from ebay.
It is probably a bad port. I know the port on my phone is bad, i have to wiggle it to get it to start charging sometimes and sometimes I have to wiggle it to get it to charge faster. If it is the port, you can either try to solder a new one on, they are $5 on amazon, or pay someone to do it which can be very expensive. Or you could go with a wireless charging solution.
It's often not the port like many people think. I have several cables that will only charge if there is pressure on one side or you set it down with the cable being pulled a certain direction. Other cables work perfectly fine though. These micro USB cables go bad in this way all the time. So always be sure it's not the cable before trying to mess with the port itself.
